(Natsu's Point of View Living Room between sleeping bags)
Leaning my head into her hand I wanted to absorb and understand whatever strength she seemed to possess with all the change and mystery that swirls around in her life. I couldn't accept that she was ok with everything that's happening just like that. Looking into her eyes I could see that she too was only putting on a front though for me. Seeing the turmoil behind her eyes and the pain, frustration and anger, she was only holding back for my sake making my guilt triple. Quietly murmuring, "You really aren't ok with all of this either… Are you?" Seeing her lip tremble slightly in restraint my resolve was slowly returning to me to be her strength.
Reaching my hand forward wiping off the tear that dropped suddenly from her eye I warm up the air around us seeing the shiver run through her body forcing the final resistance to break in her actions when she responds with, "There are no other choices Natsu. I understand my life is messy and if this is all too much for you I won't pressure you into following me around. I promised you though I wouldn't leave you. We will be a family if that is what you want, but you may have to wait longer then you would want." With tears now streaming down her fragile form I respond on impulse.
Gently pulling her hand from my face and bringing her into my lap with her legs straddling mine since I want her facing me I pull her into a kiss full of all the passion I have built up from the moment I realized I loved her. This one moment I wanted to make her forget. To make her feel the love that I so desperately feels for her, and make her understand that she's mine and there will be nothing that will keep her from being anything but my Luce. Feeling her running her fingers through my hair, then cupping my face responding with the same passion for me and then to hold on to my shoulders as if I was grounding her in the moment I pulled her closer in reassurance. Breaking our lips apart and staring in the depths of her chocolate eyes I whispered, "We are a family and we will continue to be a family Luce. We'll get through this together, but you need to start talking to me about some of the back story on all these plans. You're strong and independent, but you aren't alone anymore." Wiping some more tears off her face I kiss her once more before pulling her to my side to lie down beside me so we can continue talking in a more comfortable relaxed position. Looking down at her I start to notice how pale she's become and how limp she appears while lying there.
I heard her whimper before seeing what was wrong though. She simply smiled at me painfully and said, "Sorry, time's up before I could tell you everything... Love you Natsu." With her eye's rolling back and closing he felt as if she was moving in slow motion. With her hands and body going limp and rolling to her back she glowed brightly for a moment in front of me causing me to shield my eyes only for it to immediately fade. Reaching out and touching her arm to assure that she is fine and just needed some sleep I started feeling her temperature dropping and her pulse slowing down. Panic wasn't what was needed, but a shudder of fear ran down my back. Not understanding what she meant I quickly ran over to her bag and pulled out her lacrima and called for the master. Seeing his face appear I say quickly, "What do I do! Her temperature's dropping and her pulse is slowing. She said time ran out before she could tell me…" Running over and grabbing another blanket and laying it on top of her and making sure she's as comfortable as possible before looking back at the master whom seems to be deep in thought.
Finally hearing him ponder out loud, "Natsu without her link to her magic her body may be rejecting itself. We need to find some kind of link for her I think, or some sort of magical lacrima that her body is compatible with. A mages body needs magic to coexist with their natural magic. They work hand in hand…This is really urgent Natsu, I don't know what she had planned for this. Try looking through her bag there and see if there's something in there she was going to have you help her with."
Running back to the bag he notices that she has a journal and quickly grabs it thumbing through to today's events. Quickly skimming them he reads out loud Lucy's last couple entries, "I feel weak after my keys were replaced. I guess it's to be expected though. If I make it to Tenrou Island before my body starts to be rejected I'll at least have enough time to figure out what to do about my magic. I knew I would have to find something compatible because of this though. However there isn't enough time. When I had the initial thought I figured I could research and find what was compatible but of course everything is happening so fast again. I won't lie to myself though. I feel so useless. I've hurt everyone again. I've lost my spirits, I keep hurting Natsu causing him to suffer more and more because of me, but there is so much going on that I can't stop. They will all be in danger if I disregard this. Well I have to go now. More things to organize Lucy. Focus and stay strong. Don't ruin everything you've worked so hard to fix and protect them from. Hopefully I can explain to Natsu soon why I'm on a time crunch and have to leave immediately. Time is crucial right now."
Grinding my teeth together I look up to the master who instantly understands the situation. With all the calmness I can muster I says quietly, "Master can you transport us and the older members to Tenrou now? I'll have Happy and Mira bring the rest of her things once we figure things out there. When she wakes up Levy and her will find out what magic she thinks she's compatible with and we'll get her a lacrima absorbed somewhere in her body. We'll make her better even though she'll have to start over learning her alternate magic. Of course only she would think of something like this." Anger infused with a vengeance after the small understanding. She was trying to share everything with me and I knew she was, but the pain of being too late was eating away at my heart. If I would have been stronger, more patient for an explanation, and held together she wouldn't have had to comfort me wasting her precious time to make sure I would be ok.
Losing my temper wasn't going to help in this situation so before I burnt the dam journal I threw it at her bag with a murderous rage. Breathing in and out for a moment I turn and scoop her up not waiting for the master and then instantly grab her bag turning to wait for him to send me where they needed to go. In a flash all of us were standing in the middle of Tenrou Island at the First Master's grave. Seeing that the master was next to me with a look of pure concern as well I gently laid Lucy down on the ground in as comfortable a position as was possible to let her absorb the islands magic from being a mage of Fairy Tail. Seeing the color slightly return, but her remain sleeping I start to hear the small gasps from the people realizing where they are and at and the smell of tears forming from understanding that something has happened to Lucy. Happy flew forward and landed next to her crawling into her arms trying to wake her. She unfortunately remained asleep. Turning slightly and seeing Gray, Erza, and Mira pushing their way to the front and over to me I shake my head gently implying not to ask questions yet. Mira seeing this then turns to Lucy and caters to making her more comfortable calling out simple commands to random individuals. Once settled with the fact that Lucy is now laying away from people to see her in this state with Happy cuddled next to her for when she wakes to comfort her she begins making preparations for everyone else. I see her efficiency and concern and begin to remember I have my own job to do.
Pulling the journal out of Lucy's bag now that I have my temper under control and everyone is leaving me alone for a bit knowing that it isn't wise to bother me I begin reading her journal more thoroughly. As I start to filter the contents in my head from what I deem important right this moment from what isn't I look over at the Master motioning my hand at him to come over along with the older members to understand what Lucy has tried to come up with prior to the situation in such a short time. Once they arrive I ask the Ice Princess and Gajeel to structure a temporary barrier to block out the younger members since they don't need to be included with the preplanning yet. Keeping the matter of Lucy private until the master is ready I believe is what her goal would be and try to help with. Not fully sure how to start I ask Reedus from where he is to toss his magic pen my direction. Writing out key information for everyone to see I start out with the following:
Compatible magical lacrima for Lucy – Research
Dark Organization
Lucy's Overall goal
Everyone knows I'm not good at this stuff but I might as well just talk to the master since he'll expand. Starting off with, "Master I read through more of her journal and she seemed to have found a map with some key points and reminders, but she is storing it in some kind of magic storage area only she has access to. She was intending on telling you later and giving it to you it seems but for obvious reasons we have to wait for her. The immediate situation requires us to figure out what would be compatible with her so that her body doesn't deteriorate further. As for the overall goal well you already know and a few of us already do but you may want to expand a bit. Then again the first two I think should probably be the priority. We or I would like to know more about what we're up against. Is there any way you can extract info while Lucy is asleep from her memories? Wait forget I said that. She would kill us for invading her privacy like that. She's going to provide us with all of the journals and past battle strategies she's had so we can comb through those for info."
I felt the murderous intent from Erza the moment I had say that and had to rethink quick before she smacked me for even thinking that. Master Makarov looked over to the First Master then sighing responds with, "I agree with you Natsu. We need her in order to know how to proceed. At the moment there is a barrier around our Fairy Tail building that will respond if attacked and notify us immediately. Therefore we all will be setting up camp here in support of Lucy until we know how to continue as well as protect our own. According to the First Master she should wake up shortly and we may be able to get an idea of what could help her further. As for the Dark organization let's like you said go through her documents first but she has to arrange it appropriately for us. We can't just read every single journal considering she's been collecting them for the past five years and we don't know where they are. For now everyone get comfortable and help our younger members adjust. We will not be exploring or vacationing while on this island though. I'm making myself clear that there are only approved areas for everyone being that this place, regardless of being our home island, is extremely dangerous. Everyone will use this time to expand their training and magical capabilities for the challenges to come. I'm sure Lucy wouldn't want it any other way. Schedules will be created and each of you shall work together to teach the younger members as well. No one is to go anywhere by themselves without permission from myself or an S-Class mage with notification of where you are going. We won't be here for long, but for now this is necessary."
With that said I watched as the master waved his hand in a dismissive motion so everyone exited with a mixture of emotions. I stood there for a bit and waved my hand erasing the three notes I wrote. Looking back down to the journal I decided to hold onto it until Lucy woke up. Lucy's frustrations were starting to dawn on me with the restrictions the master just placed on us. Yes for our protections it's understandable to be monitored and stick together, but the constant of people is hard to wrap my mind around. Yes I spend a lot of time in the company of the guild, but I leave every night. Go on missions… Not babysit people and read books. Feeling a hand on my shoulder startling me out of my thoughts I see Gray causing me to purse my lips together waiting for whatever he wants.
Hearing, "Can we read the journal Natsu. Maybe just our team or something? Understanding her logic over the past day or so would help in what she was planning for our immediate future. At least until she wakes up." Shaking my head at him a sad smile forming on my lips I respond, "Unfortunately right now I disagree with you. Maybe later, but right now we need to understand our current situation. We need to help the younger members and I need to accept that we've been stripped of the same freedoms that we took for granted." Seeing his confused expression I continue, "Lucy's and our situations are now very similar. The only difference being our magic abilities. You'll see soon."
The click of realization on both of their faces brings the expected feelings I have to the front of my mind. Turning and walking out of the shelter that is now dissolving I walk towards the First Master and ask, "Do you have an estimated amount of time when she may wake up?"
Watching her face fall I suddenly feel edgy. I want answers soon, because I know everyone will start trying to explore and pulling me in a different direction. The soft, "It won't be probably till tomorrow morning if not longer. She needs to absorb enough of the flow of the island so that her body can cope. Right now she's like a sponge taking anything it can get. We will be moving her constantly as a result so that the energy continually replenishes from spot to spot. However, Wendy has volunteered to try and wake her by casting a spell to increase the speed of her inner workings to absorb. It will only be temporary but it will give enough time to get the answers about the compatible magic problem we now face." Nodding my head in frustration I simply respond, "Then I will stay with her and call for Levy and Wendy when we're ready. For now we'll get everything set up here for our temporary stay."
Walking away in the middle of our conversation wasn't the most polite thing I could have done, but as I could see the stress from everyone gathering and people starting to migrate towards Lucy, I knew more issues would soon follow. Seeing the small wall of bodies and hearing all the questions to follow I can only grit my teeth again at my own stupidity.
(No One's Point of View Tenrou Island)
Master Makarov watching his children start to ask questions and gathering in the wrong area that was set aside for them temporarily needed to stop the confusion immediately. Enlarging himself and yelling out, "Silence! Move back to the area over there arranged for you so we can have our guild meeting. Right now you're disturbing the energy in this area which Lucy desperately needs."
The looks of shock across all of the members cause them to quickly move and seat themselves waiting for further directions. Only Mira and Happy remained with Lucy since Mira's preparations have sorted most of the areas of living. It was apparent she was acting as her guardian until she awoke.
The other S-Class mages lined up in the front along with Levy, Gajeel, Cana, Freed, Elfman, and Juvia upon request of the master. Once it had quieted down he explained, "Unfortunate circumstances have forced us all here for a little while and I will be sending letters to all necessary landlords that pay will still be received, but areas will be vacant for an undetermined time. Right now until we know what's going on we will remain here. This however is not a vacation. We will use this time training. All of you will be broken into groups and as such have an appropriate supervisor for any questions you may have. This island is special and on normal circumstances you would only see this place on special circumstances, but right now it is our safe haven. This island as special as it is though is also very dangerous and as a result you will be restricted to where you can go. No one will be allowed to go anywhere without someone with them. When we have more information about what we are dealing with we will let you know. Right now be patient and have faith in Lucy. She needs our support more than ever right now. At the board over here where we set up for entertainment and food area will be the listings for groups and supervisors. For now go find your designated room and get settled best you can. We tried to accommodate as much privacy we can for people, but there is only so much we can do. You should find that you can teleport some of your essential belongings, but that's it." Not allowing any questions he turns and walks back towards Mira to stay in the little shack connected to Lucy's quarters for further planning.
As everyone scatters some of the members glance over to Lucy with pity which only receives a glare in response from Mira. She watched carefully as one girl who remained separate from the group walks to the edge of the area and touches a flower. Exerting some of her magic the flower instantly blooms and is encased in a soft glow. It was as if the plant couldn't get enough of her as it slowly reached out and wrapped around finger and then her wrist. Pulling gently the flower broke only being replaced with a flower bud to bloom again. Turning slightly and arranging the flower now in her hand she then walks towards some branches and does a very similar motion creating a stand for the flower to sit. Once she has the flower and stand arranged she turns towards Mira with caution.
As she comes closer Mira realizes why she is proceeding with caution being that this was the girl that had hurt Lucy's feelings not very long ago. Mira noticed that day the girl appeared broke later on returning to the guild. Her team comforted her, but in the end she split from them as if she was a bit lost trying to understand how to fix what she had done on her own. Mira had watched her from afar, but knew that with time she would be ok. Mira walked forward slightly smiling and says, "That's beautiful Belladonna."
The girl looking up shy's away from Mira slightly but whispers, "Do you think she would mind if I gave it to her… To Ms. Lucy." She looked back down with a small tear running down her face. She never stopped feeling guilty for what she did to her. Ever since she has gone off on her own leaving her team to find her way like Lucy did. To be able to earn her respect somehow. Only problem was is she only felt more lost and alone than ever not knowing where to go or what to do. Begging slightly, "Please I… I need to give her something to help…" Mira understanding her position decides, maybe she could see her to settle her nerves and help her. Lucy would understand. Responding, "Come with me sweetie. Only for a little bit I'll let you see Lucy to calm your nerves. Lucy is strong though so don't worry."
(Belladonna's point of view with Lucy)
Walking slightly behind Mira I didn't know what to feel. Everything just felt hopeless for me anymore and as much as everyone looks as though they're enjoying themselves it's as if I no longer belong. Stopping next to Lucy I gently set the flower next to her and see Natsu in the corner staring at me with an expressionless face. This only made my eye's water more. Looking back at Lucy I see her eye's flutter open and spot me. Cringing at what might happen next I'm startled when she smiles lightly at me. I watch as she struggles a bit and Natsu goes to move to her side but she waves him to stay. Turning her head back at me she says hoarsely, "You never told me your name."
Whispering back, "Belladonna. I don't have a last name yet, but I'm working on it." Looking down ashamed I can't get the mantra out of my head of how undeserving and disappointing I am. Feeling a slight tug on my hand distracting me from my thoughts I look back to see Lucy holding it rubbing small circles on the back of my hand. Hearing her cough I struggle to keep the tears back, but she chuckles lightly after saying, "You feel lost right now and are sad, but do you remember our lesson?" Nodding slightly and looking over to Natsu to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong he nods at me to listen. Turning back to Lucy she continues, "I won't let you be alone and sad. I'll guide you back to us. Push your natural magic back to your hand and don't let go ok?" Seeing her go pale I try to refuse pulling on my hand but she intertwined our fingers not letting me go. Struggling I look to Natsu to see a small smile as his eyes get wet as well. This was confusing me. Lucy was going pale and tired, so why wasn't he moving. Feeling a jerk again I look back and she says, "Not much time. Quickly…" Trying to calm down and doing as she says I try to focus and push some of my magic down to my hand and as I do I feel a push and a sharp pull ripping my magic from me as well as my hand being released. Jumping back surprised from her rubbing my hand wondering what was going on I look over to Lucy still lying there panting a bit. Fisting her hand and reopening it there's a small beautiful key with pink and purple and gold swirls.
Her last words before going back to sleep were, "Such a strong heart…You have beautiful magic and thank you for the flower. This though is a way so you'll never be or feel alone. Whatever you're feeling pour those feelings into this and I will always be by your side feeling the same as you do. You have a piece of me now too this way. There's a chain in my bag that is very precious to me. Natsu will give that to you to hang this on. Mira will enchant it so that it won't fall off so no worries. You don't have to be lost anymore. Keep it safe." Watching her eyes glaze over and her body going limp all I can feel is horror as if she was actually dying. Rushing to her is what I should do but noticing the chill in her aura and her hand lax, the small key starts to roll out as she releases it. I rush to catch it but miss.
Immediately picking it up carefully from the floor and setting it next to the flower I throw all my efforts into trying to make sure Ms. Lucy is ok. Moving her hand back under the blanket and quickly doing a once over and backing up as Natsu gets closer to wipe her face with a cloth to keep her more comfortable. I start tearing up again not understanding. I don't understand this kindness she expresses. How is she capable of forgiving and loving and understanding…? Looking down in frustration I turn to leave not accepting that all of this is acceptable, but I'm snagged by Mira holding me in place until Natsu is done. Refusing to look at any of them I continue with my thoughts letting all my sorrow eat away at me since all of this is beyond me. Darn it, now my nose is running. Wiping my sleeve against my nose and struggling to get away again only proved pointless.
Looking up past Mira once more after stomping my foot in frustration I see Natsu going through Ms. Lucy's bag and I speak up, "Don't Natsu. I don't deserve anything from her. She said that was important to her. I couldn't possibly take it." Seeing Natsu look up blankly at me as if he was going to acknowledge my statement for a moment then deciding not to he continues going through the bag finally pulling a delicate gold chain out of a magical secured pouch. Watching him run a delicate hand over the chain he looks at it fondly before handing it to Mira. Once I was released from Mira I quickly went to escape and leave only to be thwarted by the Master with a look that basically dared me to leave before Mira was done. Feeling shameful for my actions I look to the side wishing I could just disappear. I hear from the side of me Mira chanting something and then hear a couple clinks. Peaking over at her because my curiosity got the best of me I see her hand the necklace back to Natsu.
I watched his face turn towards the key and chain in pure adoration before squatting down in front of me so we're eye level. With one last longing look at the necklace he turns his site on me with a serious expression and says, "This is a promise from her and a celestial mage never breaks her promise. Do you understand?" He was waiting for me to acknowledge this so grudgingly I nod my head ok only to receive a frown. He continued, "I'm serious Belladonna. She stands by this whole heartedly and I can personally account that she does in fact keep all of her promises. She doesn't make them lightly."
Tearing up was something I had started doing a lot lately and this was frustrating. I wasn't used to emotions like this of having someone possibly care about me. Nodding my head one more time in understanding he waits studying me before starting again with, "This is a physical form of hers and your natural magic intertwined making her feel everything you feel if you direct an emotion towards this object. It's only a one way street just so that you know that she is always with you. There are only two others in the world similar to this and it is to remain as a secret. Keep it with you at all times no matter what. As for the chain it is very sentimental and precious to her. A long time ago her mother passed this down to her, but never knew it was one of the last things she would receive something from her. It's very special in a sense that the chain can never break unless there are proper intentions. The enchantment holds the key in place so that it will always hang down and not wrap around in odd positions or get tangled with your other things. The chain will lengthen as you wish or shorten. This could even be a bracelet. It is at your discretion, but remember. You aren't alone. Fairy Tail is here to guide you and if for some reason you are lost. Lucy is right here for you. She sensed your pain more so out of everyone. She would have never done something like this otherwise…" Feeling him pull my hand and drop the necklace in it and closing my hand around it he squeezes once only to turn from me and go back to sit by Ms. Lucy dismissing me. Looking in my hand I can't help but feel my worries dissipate and warmth spread through me. I hadn't noticed that Gray had been watching from the door way but am brought out of my thoughts seeing him walk in to take Natsu's place in the corner. Looking back to Natsu I ask quietly, "Why do I suddenly feel such warmth and understanding?" Seeing everyone turn back to look at Lucy once smiling proudly while Natsu runs his hand gently down her hair smoothing it and then back to me he responds, "She's a very Talented and special person. Her warmth affects us all." Confusion spreading back through me but only because it felt like a riddle I ask, "Does this have something to do with her gift?" His response was a chuckle. Gray responded in his place this time saying, "She is taking responsibility for your feelings so your burden has been lightened. She did the same for both Natsu and I. For now go find your quarters, I'm sure you can come see her again soon when she wakes up."
Nodding in slight understanding I pull at the chain and place it over my wrist shortening it so it won't ever slip off and I can see it as a constant reminder. I look to the master and give him the brightest smile I think I've ever had. This gift was remarkable and as if she's chased off all my worries and showed me a path that I didn't know existed I threw myself at Master giving him a big hug and run past him out the small hut.
(No one's point of view Lucy's area)
Master shaking his head chuckling while watching one of his children run off with a lighter burden he begins to notice the silence behind him. Yes he knew Lucy would always put the guild before herself but this only caused more pain to return to the older members. Lucy had used more energy than necessary and Natsu was clearly feeling more pain with her dull complexion. Happy had crawled back on her pillow to give his warmth to her while both Gray and Natsu sat on each side worriedly and Mira moved back to the end of her bed keeping everything clean and organized to distract herself.
Breaking the silence Master says, "Natsu and Gray, I'm going to need you to go help Erza and the others mark off areas and seal them to protect the camp and Fairy Tail. Night fall is coming upon us and there are significantly dangerous animals on this island. They'll feel the shift in energy and seek it out if we don't counter with some barriers." They noticed he didn't want to ask them this, but knew it needed to be done.
Natsu knew that Lucy would be safe with Mira and Happy, but still didn't want to leave her side. It was selfish, but for once he didn't want to put Fairy Tail first. As if sensing his thoughts and aggression he noticed Lucy fist her hand and nudge him lacking the energy to fully open her eyes. With her whispering out, "Go please." He instantly rubs his hand down her hand trying to relax her and letting his eyes water. It was too much exertion though as she tried twice before finally faintly whispering, "St... stay sa...safe."
Natsu shook his head even if she couldn't see him though stubbornly. Whispering back he said, "But you need me here. Right?"
The slight curl of her lip and the sudden exertion of sucking in a breath caused him not to see the elbow come his way in time to dodge it. Immediately Lucy had forced herself up slightly elbowing him in the stomach while shoving him off the bed at the same time forcing him to land with an ooof! And gasping for air on the floor. Falling back to the bed Happy caught her head gently and smiling cheekily while Gray made sure she didn't fall off the bed with Natsu. Chuckling slightly Gray covered her again to make her comfortable as Mira helped Natsu back up standing. Mira turned to the master and asked, "Do you need me to go as well. It could be faster that way…" Shaking his head no then saying, "You'll help me move her later. The energy is beginning to strain here. We need you to continue by her side like she said earlier this morning." Understanding what he meant she didn't question only nodded.
It was Gray's turn to get Natsu moving since Lucy finally appeared to be sleeping peacefully with a soft snore and Happy patting her head. "Come on Natsu I'm sure that I can get more barriers up faster than you so I can see Lucy first tonight." Smirking when Natsu takes the bait thrown at him and responds, "Yea right Ice Princess. That is NOT going to happen!" Storming out of the hut with only a quick glance at Lucy he takes off in the direction he smells Erza in. Gray waits for Natsu to disappear before going back to Lucy and lightly kissing her forehead. Saying with a smile to Mira, "I don't need him freaking out over my brotherly affection for her. Take care of her Happy and Mira. Call if you need us." Then he swiftly walks out in the direction Natsu took off after receiving smiles and nods of dismissal.
Master walked over next to Mira and looked at the First Master with the question Natsu asked earlier, "How long now?" Knowing how much energy she just expended he had a feeling she wouldn't wake up until tomorrow evening instead. Seeing that she only nods in my direction he understands her answer and sighs deeply turning around leaving Lucy to be cared for by Mira. Even in her state she was watching over them and for once it was as if she was taking his responsibilities from him. He didn't want that though. He was responsible for Fairy Tail and as such he would be the one that lifted there burdens. The feeling of being lost for a moment spread around him but quickly flitted away once his determination returned. For her he would stand strong. That familiar warmth seeped into him that was mentioned earlier and as such he guiltily smiled at Lucy thanking her for her understanding. Her aura was just too contagious not to absorb. With new determination on a path that she somehow set for them all he proceeded to write up letters to landlords about the missing members of Fairy Tail from Magnolia and the Magic Council.
(One month later in the evening at Fairy Tail Camp)
Lucy had been moved multiple times but was not getting better causing the older members to become quiet edgy. They had thought that the following day Lucy would have been able to absorb enough of the island to wake up and endure, but that just didn't seem to be the case. It was as if there was a barrier preventing her from completely absorbing enough. It didn't help that she wasn't seen much but by only Mira and Happy since the meltdowns Natsu and Gray had caused earlier in the month disturbing Lucy. Everyone assumed that the spirit world would respond by now, but seeing that this wasn't the case was wondering why not. This was their family after all…
On another note there was a better understanding of what was going on causing them to stay there. More information had been provided so members were beginning to train and adjust appropriately. They had been notified that legal guilds had started receiving threats and as a result were responding in similar fashions as they were. Someone was trying to eliminate them and their magic to take over, but wanted nothing to do with the citizens for now. They had left brutal demonstrations and strength even forcing the saints back in some circumstances before teleporting the mages away. They hadn't understood how or what their magic was and how to counter it. For now the Magic Council only sent out the rune nights who consisted of individuals using magical tools to protect the citizens and pushed the guilds into hiding. The citizens were protected this way but the dark alliance remained in hiding waiting for their return though knowing that they had an unlimited amount of time.
Occasionally a mage would go on a request but when the Magic Council received the first message from a triggered response from Lucy they stopped until she was back up and running. She had information and they were warned by her disturbing message. All the guilds had triggered responses from her and collaborated over what to do, but were only silenced with a visual of Lucy when they became too pushy. They had unfortunate losses during the demonstrations causing a great grief causing Fairy Tail to feel fortunate that they had the celestial mage. The world as of now was silent and a battle of epic proportions was in their futures that they needed to prepare for. They all hoped though that there wouldn't be many casualties whenever this day did come though.
Breaking them all out of their thoughts they heard a thundering roar nearby as a dark creature of some sort roared in their direction as it stalked forward fading in and out of the night. Immediately following, a hiss of the same strength was heard forcing their barrier to begin to crack as a bright white blur was bounding forward flickering so that their eyes couldn't follow. No one seemed to completely understand but the flickering image towered over the trees causing a path of destruction in their wake, and the magical pressure wasn't to the strength of Acnolgia. However it was significant enough for them to understand that they were in extreme danger. Every mage came forward as well as the First Master Mavis shouting formations since she did not fully understanding what was going on never seeing or feeling this on her island before.
Another roar sounded except it was the opposite this time followed by the hiss cracking the barrier further. Finally with a swipe from the dark from the right arriving at the barrier and another faster than they could follow from something white, the barrier shattered. Instantly every mage was smothered in a magical pressure they could barely stand against. The only mage not seen was Lucy who was safely in her shack hidden, while everyone remained in their formation waiting for the command. Master had enlarged to his titan size to clearly view them, but was pushed back with another harsh hiss deeming him not worth of their attention. A visual of a midnight blue with silver flecked eyes blinked and a tremble of the earth under them made them all step back slightly again. The silence was sickening only hearing the swish of leaves and the breath of a member next to them waiting for something to trigger a response. The panic was palpable, but no one expected the blond blur in front of them moving freely snapping her two whips at the two images that immediately came into focus.
Lucy had an idea what these creatures were and when they would come out from extensive research when she had first left her team and studying with her celestial spirits. At the time it was explained that if she understood them she could better understand celestial magic and took them for their word. They were a myth for children, but a legend to the spirits and the moment she was awoken with that roar she knew that she couldn't pass up seeing them if given the option. What they had wanted was only a memory to her as she lay there weakly peering over at her flower, but she would wait until it was ok for her to come out. Knowing that her guild would be fine the ripple of fear and panic from them all startled her though. She hadn't expected that from them. They stood up against Acnolgia once before, so this shouldn't even be an issue of confidence. The moment the barrier was broke though and the pressure of their magic suffocated her she immediately understood what the issue was. These creatures came from unknown voids of terror in their world and when they were searching for an interest they would dominate whatever it is of their interest. Something here had piqued their interest, but they would be hostile in their efforts to find it. If they had to go through them one by one they would. Forcing her body up took almost all her effort but she grabbed her whip and pushed and pulled a bit of the environment into another whip. When the ground trembled beneath her feet she ran out the best she could from her hut snapping at the black blur on her right and the white one on the left forcing them to focus on her so she could keep her nakama safe. Only she knew what was going on and as such deemed it reasonable for her to be the one to approach them. Immediately in her mind she heard, "You are the one that has caused us to come for with great interest. Domination and submission is mandatory for your seal to accept our magic. No lacrima will be capable."
Nodding forward at them in understanding she jumps to the side snapping her whip forcing them to follow. Hearing a subtle mysterious whisper in her mind from the other, "Only you interest us. We can explain terms elsewhere, but they must stay. We are not interested in them." Hearing the protests from her family as they try to move forward to help her, the attention of the other creature that morphs in and out moves from her. Whipping in its direction and forcing it back to her away from her family she regains its attention. Saying quietly for only the dragon slayers to hear and relay to the others, "Stay back. They mean no harm to you, but wish to speak with me for a bit. I will be back shortly. Absolutely do not attack or follow. They have no interest in you."
Both creatures becoming increasingly aggravated at the sloth like behavior stomped their feet twice forcing her to balance away from the others then immediately bound after her as she takes off trying to force her natural magic to cooperate and make her speed faster as she ran through the forest the opposite direction from camp towards the beach.
Every member of Fairy Tail tried to protest until Wendy snapped at all of them to be quiet. She thought quickly in response to what Lucy had told them and if they weren't to follow they would elevate themselves to a visual to follow her that way. Yelling out to Droy, Gajeel, and Gray loud enough to catch some of the older more experienced members attentions she directs, "Create an elevated platform together above the tree line so we can see her from here. Those of you with the ability to elevate or fly join us in the air, but do not follow her and stay silent so the dragon slayers can hear her from here." Instantly she cast out a spell enhancing the dragon slayers hearing to try to keep an eye on their beloved Lucy. This however proved extremely difficult to stay in place when they were forced to watch as Lucy was pushed to battle them both at the beach where another creature was coming forth stocking forward from the sea parting the waves as if it was natural towards her as well. The occasional beautiful laugh they hadn't heard in a while was the only thing that settled them from moving forward. Looking over you could see the worry on all of the other members, but when they heard the creature hiss out finally for them to hear and understand what was happening the dragon slayers fell to the ground and ran knowing the danger Lucy truly was in now. Ringing through the air finally reaching the other member's ears, "We must break your seal to establish dominance before we can help you."
Lucy had begun sparing with the two giant creatures running them into each other and using their abilities to her advantage. The sand made her heavy though. Noticing another visitor whisper, "You are a fine example of interest to us." She had a feeling the level of dominance they were going to place on her was something not going to be very comfortable. The water was beginning to shift and part as she peered around her absorbing as much of the random magic they threw at her forcing her to create a shield that was fading in and out for protection while continuing with her whip for now to direct their attention. Hearing again from what seemed to be the darker image, "Good. Use us. We need you to experience our magic before we must break your seal to establish dominance and can help you." Laughing lightly she couldn't help but feel like this was the Spirit King pushing her spirits to encourage her. Feeling the attack ripple before it reached her she was beginning to catch on to their behavior. Twins, but polar opposites and where the third was approaching is their happy medium. This was unexpected, but now she truly knew who this was. This was Yin and Yang only to be completed by the third making them Cerberus and as a result he was looking for a master. All three had to agree on their interest to work together and only came to terrorize each other on the world if they were on disagreement. Realizing this she silently whispers while dodging, "You are indeed a site to behold Cerberus, Yin, and Yang. What do you wish of me? As you can see I suffer right now and do not understand your interest in me."
In her mind she hears in response, "Ahh so comforting do you hear that. Someone that knows each of us individually and respects us how we deserve." Another replying with that subtle voice of amusement, "Yes submissive as well acknowledging what is necessary." Finally hearing the last voice of critique, "Her balance in her nature is delicious. Yes she is very interesting for us. She is capable of handling our dominance. Does this mean we all agree?" The mixture of, "Yessss and Hmmm" was the last thing she would hear in her head for now.
Immediately all three images solidified in a crouch from each side and in front of her. Lucy knew that they had agreed on something, but not completely positive what was going on. Asking out again, "I apologize if I'm speaking out of turn here, but I still do not understand what you may wish of me." The Creature in front of her she believes to be Cerberus responds first, "You seek a magic compatible with your own do you not?" To her left Yang she believes says while shaking its head, "Celestial magic. Rare magic that is not truly meant for this world… No." To her right Yin continues, "There is no magic compatible with an entire other world. Your body will not last." Cerberus stands tall between the three being the balance as the other two remain crouched speaking for all three of them, "You are abnormal in this world in a sense that no other is balanced like you. Equal parts dark and light you would be capable of entertaining us with our magic which is needed being that it is the only thing compatible with your bodies make up. We have watched over many celestial mages in our day seeking a solid source so we could rest, but none have ever been quiet like you. However we only will provide for you if you allow us our dominance this once. We expect to have you hold the balance known as me, Cerberus, for this world as well as the spirit in light known as Yin, and dark spirit known as Yang. But to do that the three of us must break your body's seal to accept us. Do you understand? We won't be objects possessing you or invading you or your head. You would be releasing us from this tiresome existence until you pass on. You would gain the necessary magic your body needs to stop from deteriorating and continue to fight to maintain the balance in this world. We only seek rest from your current world and you can provide us with exactly that."
Seeing that Natsu is at the tree line about to burst into flames I say with respect, "Would you mind allowing the presence of a couple people. I wish to grant you what you need, but I am no longer allowed to make decisions alone. The Master of my guild and my significant other wish to comes forward to further understand what is to happen?" She quickly holds up her hand with her pointer finger up motioning for her family to wait one more moment, all the while not removing her attention from Cerberus's discussion with respect. They reluctantly nod and wait in response. Watching as Yin and Yang both stand to their full height and stomp there foot in annoyance at her lack of attention to them she immediately holds out her hands to both creatures signaling that she has not forgotten them. Both pleased with her response subtly vanish and reappear next to Cerberus awaiting his decision.
Cerberus contemplated the presence of the others. They did not come out seeking permission. Allowing this was against their code, but she understood their ways and respected them. They still didn't allow the others to see them fully only allowing them to understand that our presence was here with flickers, but by allowing this people would attempt to seek them out in the future. It was imperative that their existence not be completely known since they would suffer if they allowed this one female to speak further to her people. No rest would come for centuries and that was not acceptable for them. This world would fall to chaos with how things are right now. Shaking his head back and forth he speaks out, "This choice is not yours to make any longer and that is with no disrespect from us." Hearing her response made the three of us chuckle though, "Then I recommend for both of our sakes you shield them from being capable of seeing your oncoming work as well as fixing yourself in a manor to fool them. Maybe something knowledgeable to them so they don't suspect you allowing only your legend to lives on untarnished. I only say this in the most sincere way, but your existence apart from each other shouldn't be known." Nodding at her in acknowledgement Cerberus then whispers to his brothers to transform into three sleek dragons for appearance sake and replies, "Only this Guild Master and significant other of yours may step forward. We have changed our scents to match and our physical appearance to them so only you can see us in our true forms. Right now they see three dragons circling you but are now aligning in front of you. We will speak to them and then dismiss them. Do you understand and accept?" He is then pleased when she nods and bows before them respectfully.
Lucy was on the verge of collapsing under the amount of pain she was currently in. Her body felt as though it was tearing itself apart again, but trying to balance her natural magic and stretching on her limbs, she was beginning to lose feeling in some of her fingers. Whether they could tell or not she tried desperately to remain still and respectful. Honestly speaking they were marvelous creatures. Right now they were separated, but could imagine them combining to the three headed majestic dog they were named for. Yin was White as snow with silver eyes lined by black having midnight blue flecks speckled through. A lean long muscled body and a gentle tail tipped in midnight blue. Simply magnificent. Yang was pure black with bright midnight blue eyes with silver speckles and having the same shape as Yin but a white tipped tail. Cerberus on the other hand was almost transparent but shimmered with both black white flecks throughout his silky coat inheriting one eye color from each counterpart. He radiated strength and power, and his dominance vibrated in the air like a smothering blanket. This level of strength was different from Acnolgia as if he was child's play for them. This reminded her of when she saved Loki and The Spirit King had stopped time and space around them clearly demonstrating the power he maintained in his world. With a sad smile on her face she calls out, "Master Makarov and Natsu, please come forward slowly. They wish to talk to you. Do not speak unless requested to though. These are their demands. Seeing Natsu step over quickly followed by Master Makarov the both stand on each side of her and bow slightly waiting further instruction. Watching Cerberus form a wall surrounding us in a dome he speaks out, "Lucy will not live to tomorrow without us Master Makarov of Fairy Tail. However you will need to leave us for a few days to break her. We will disappear upon completion and she will return to you. Do you understand?"
Master Makarov frowning looks to him and asks, "May I ask your name prior to accepting your terms in the handling of our dear celestial mage?" The shake of his head no forces him to continue with, "Will you answer any of our questions if we ask or is this just an informative for our sake?" Makarov seeing the dragon smile viciously at him and lowering his eye level to his states, "You are wise Master Makarov, as are you significant other. She only wished for you to know and to not worry. She is respectful of our wishes so we will thoroughly enjoy breaking her."
Lucy saw Natsu's frustrations but grabbed his hand shaking it. Natsu lifting his hand slightly to be acknowledged which was very unlike him, but it wasn't his choice. Seeing them acknowledge for him to speak he asks, "What do you mean by breaking her? What type of dragon breaks there chosen child to help them? My dragon never did anything of the sort…" Trailing off but sensing their sudden aggression he steps back when the three of them stomp forward aggressively while lowering their snouts at the three. Lucy stepping in front of them spreading her arms out to stop them with her head down speaks up, "He means you no disrespect. I understand this is for my survival, and they will accept these terms. Your assistance is much appreciated."
Seeing their chosen interest step in front of them in a submissive manner they begin to pulse the air with their magic combined forcing the two behind her into the same submission to their knees. Cerberus speaking up in an authoritative tone, "Your significant other is not as intelligent to see the bigger picture as you are. We demand his removal from our presence!" Lucy nodding asks, "May I turn to explain to him he will be leaving?" Flaring their nostrils at her but nodding none the less Lucy turns slightly and says to Natsu quickly, "Stand, bow, and smile Natsu. They are the answer to our problem so do not try to disrespect them. I will see you when they are done." Natsu seeing the stress in Lucy's eyes about not disrespecting them caused him to pause. Dragons were majestic and kind as far as he was concerned, but the air of authority these three radiated now that they allowed us to view them was something different entirely. Then again he only ever knew Igneel, and Atlas Flame from the Grand Magic games, so there wasn't much to go on. He wasn't confident leaving her in their care or that it was a wise idea, but it was the only option as he was forced from their dome back to the forest line to wait for Master Makarov.
Master Makarov shook his head at Natsu knowing that would happen. He knew Lucy only asked him forward because he would be reckless otherwise charging forward to attack. Waiting to speak again he hears, "You will see her when we are finished depending on her body. For no reason should you expect us to explain ourselves. This was only a formality requested upon us and as such we are done with this conversation." Watching as they stomp there foot three times he feels the ground push him out of their dome and back to his children to explain. Seeing their shocked faces wasn't surprising, but none the less he speaks out, "We will keep watch for Lucy back at our camp. It will be a few days before we see her again. Knowing that he isn't to say anything to them from the dragon's threatening air of authority he shakes his head and walking through the crowd refusing to acknowledge the pain she has to suffer again. Then again he chuckles slightly saying to his children, "Of course… Only Lucy would get into some kind of situation like this." With the questioning faces he searches out Natsu and pins him with a look and states, "Not a word to anyone Natsu till she gets back." Seeing his teary eyes and angry expression as well as running from the group refusing to acknowledge anyone was of course expected.
Natsu's anger was unrecognizable at this point. Three dragons had his Lucy and was going to break her all the while Fairy Tail was going to let her. Teaching her magic yeah, he could understand that, but what did they mean by breaking her body? Feeling a presence behind me and knowing that it's his team doesn't make him happy at all. Supporting, loving and protecting Lucy was his only goal, but the entire month they tried and failed over and over again each time she woke up to try absorbing a lacrima into her body. Every time it was rejected and every time he felt as though he failed her. Punching a tree and stomping his feet he couldn't contain the stress any further much like Lucy had back at the guild when she got back from the spirit world. Roaring out and attacking every object in his path he continued on and on in despair, that he couldn't do anything and on top of that he couldn't escape. An entire month he was surrounded by people, talking with people, answering questions as well as being forced to think more than he had ever needed to. For some god awful reason people couldn't get the hint that regardless of being older and a sub supervisor on occasion, they should hold their questions for later. He could fix the barriers each morning no problem because he could return to Lucy's side, but all of this was making him angry again. Feeling Gray grab him roughly and throw him on the ground to break his tantrum made him stop for a moment to respond with, "What do you want right now? I'm currently having anger issues. Can't you tell…?"
The look of surprise on his face from his retort made Natsu sputter and laugh at him though causing his body to relax. Sighing out and running his hands through his hair as he stood up and dusted himself off Gray said, "Natsu we know your frustrated and we won't get to understand for a bit, but just remember she's with us. Right there with you." Gray reached over flicked his wrist Lucy's gift was on making him instantly look at it fondly stroking the side with all the love in the world. Looking back to Gray and poking him right on his cross he says, "You to Popsicle. You may not have wanted everyone to notice, but I can still see and smell that you intertwined it with your necklace. It's the only thing that ever stays on your body." Laughing freely he dodges Gray's punch then pushes him sideways a bit, and looks over to Happy who has watery eyes. Picking him up like normal I sadly comfort him, "She'll be fine Happy, they're going to help her. We just have to wait for her return."
