"Well this is…awkward"Haruhi mumbled to herself as she stood in the kitchen making tea. It had been 3 hours since her and Kyoyas little "talk" and since, Kaoru had been acting… like he had gone into shock and was no help to her at all, and Kyoya had been unusually touch, touchy as in he wouldn't stop touching her whenever the twin weren't looking.

"Haruhi, do you need some help?"Kaoru was standing in the door way, it looked like he had finally snapped out of whatever weird world he had been drawn into. Haruhi nodded to him as Kaoru walked over and picked some cups from the shelf.

"Sorry I haven't really been that helpfully Haruhi, I've been kind of out of it"Kaoru admitted, he hadn't been able to really focus at all after hearing what Haruhi had to say.

'How do I approach this? I could..try and make a move but Hikaru would be hurt'Kaoru thought as he placed the cups down onto the tray as Haruhi finished soaking the tea leafs

"It's alright, I know you haven't been getting a lot of rest, Hikaru wouldn't shut up about the new line of shoes you two are creating"Haruhi picked the tray up but it was quickly taken away by Kaoru who followed her out into the living room

"Yeah it's been hard, finding the right type of cushioning for the insoles has been difficult" Kaoru placed the tray down and watched as Haruhi began to pour it out into the tea cups

"Kyoya why don't you take a nap?"Haruhi handed a cup of tea to Kyoya who seemed half asleep now, after Haruhis crying she'd gone to take a bath and Kyoya went to change Fumie, but she as a bit whiny and cried until he rocked her back to sleep.

"Thank you but I'm fine"Kyoya took a sip of the tea and then placed it back down. He was exhausted there is no doubt about that, working from Haruhis house was a bit different, he avoided being on the phone and other things that would bother Fumie or prevent him from helping Haruhi if she needed him.

"Kyoya really you look like you're about to pass out"Haruhi took her seat on the floor and sipped her tea, she did enjoy the western style apartment but she still enjoyed sitting on the floor sometime.

'Perhaps a small nap wouldn't hurt, I'll have to visit the hospitals tomorrow morning before Haruhi wakes up and I'll still have time to spend with her tonight'Kyoya thought to himself as he stood up and began to walk down the hall way

"I'll be up in time for dinner, but feel free to wake me if you need something"Kyoya opened the guest room door and stepped inside, not giving Haruhi any time to answer.

It was nice and warm inside the apartment, just comfortable enough to relax. Haruhi and Kaoru sat there sipping their tea quickly, not really needing to talk.

"How have you been Haruhi?"Kaoru looked down at her, she seemed to be lost in her thoughts before Kaoru spoke, bringing her back to reality.

"I've been okay, just getting used to being with Fumie and everything"Haruhi watched as Kaoru moved down to sit next to her. He leaned closer letting their arms touch. He was testing the water, seeing how she would receive him.

"Do you think you could do this alone Haruhi? I don't have any doubt that you could"Kaoru moved closer as and he placed his hand over hers. Haruhi didn't seem to mind or even really notice.

'Alone? Could I? I'm going to have to and my dad did it'Haruhi thought as she remembered her dad being both mother and father to her. It had been hard sometimes, when she was alone and no one was there to comfort her. Haruhi looked over at Kaoru hand over hers, she turned her hand up to clasp his, feeling comfort from him being so close.

"Yeah, for Fumie I'm going to have to be able to"Haruhi answered Kaoru was a smile on her face, but she couldn't hide her worry from Kaoru who was looking at her, his eyes slightly saddened by her attempt to hide her feeling from him.

"Haruhi you don't have to do it alone you know, I'm here for you, I'll always be here for you and I can take the place of anything you need me too"Kaoru picked up her other hand and looked at her, his eyes peering deep into hers. He could hear his own heart beat as she words repeated in his head

"Kaoru…"Haruhi didn't know what to say, could she have asked for a better friend? But that was the problem, she saw him as a friend and couldn't understand what he was trying to get across to her.

"What I mean is…Hikaru and I will both be there for you so you know.. we could pick Fumie up from school and hangout with her, we could babysit and she could stay with us sometimes.. not that you can't stay with us too"Kaoru corrected himself thinking about what he had just said, if Haruhi was more aware of her feelings then she might have realized he had pretty much just confessed to her.

"I know, thank you Kaoru, after all, I can count on all of you"Haruhi smiled, she'd forgotten how great her friends were, they could be there for her whenever she needed them. Fumie would grow up, and even if she didn't have a father she'd have uncles to take care of her. When she got married one of her uncles would walk her down the aisle.

'What should I do..I could, I could confess to her.. really confess to her right now and Hikaru wouldn't have to know, but how could I do that to Hikaru…'Kaoru moved closer to her, he couldn't help but want to be as close to her as possible.

"Haruhi you.. you can count on everyone but I want you to know that you can count on me the most.. Haruhi I can be anything and everything for you"Kaoru could feel his chest getting tighter, he didn't know what he was doing anymore and he was confessing to her, betraying Hikaru and doing what he wanted.

"You are really responsible more responsible than Hikaru"Haruhi agreed with him that he was trustworthy, at least compared to Hikaru who sometimes just did unneeded things.

"No Haruhi I mean…"Kaoru took a breath, his heart beating out of his chest, it felt like he was going to just throw up his heart already

"Haruhi.. I've fallen in love with you, my heart beats fast when I'm near you, I want you, not just physically but emotionally, I want to be with you and be a father to Fumie"Kaoru let it out, he expressed himself fully and couldn't help but feel worried now. He had left his heart out on the floor and now Haruhi was the only one who could pick it up or leave it there to root

"Kaoru I… I don't know what to say I just, it's just so fast"Haruhi looked at Kaoru, his eyes were like open gates that held his most prized trophy open for the taking, and he wanted her to take it. But Haruhi didn't know, Kyoya had confessed to her just hours ago and to be honest she had grown used to having Kyoya around, but Kaoru was different, he was always gentle and understanding….

"I know it's fast for you Haruhi but.. I've loved you since the moment you could tell Hikaru and I apart, I love you Haruhi and I'll wait for you to answer me…but allow me this please"Kaoru leaned forward and claimed her lips, he gave her no chance to push him away as he wrapped his arms around her. Her lips had felt so different then he had ever imagined, she was delicious. Haruhi felt as his lips pressed harder against hers, his lips were soft.

"Kaoru.."Haruhi whispered his name when he pulled away. Her lips felt different now and felt warm from his kiss.

"I want to kiss you like that everyday Haruhi"Kaoru moved away but kept his hand wrapped around hers

"I'm sorry to interrupt but I think it's time you leave Kaoru"His voice was cold and sharp. Kyoya stood there looking down at them from the hallway. His eyes were narrowed and cold, lacking any sign of emotion

"Why should I, she doesn't belong to you"Kaoru released Haruhis hand and stood up, ready to face Kyoya. This was going to turn into an argument and he wasn't sure how far it would go.

-Knock-

"I'm coming"Haurhi walked over to the door moving out of the way of Kaoru and Kyoya who were now standing together in the living room

"She may not belong to me but what makes you think that you deserve her"Kyoya had walked over and was standing in front of Kaoru

"Because I'm not some cold emotionless demon lord who only loves money"Kaoru didn't bother holding back, he had taken over Hikarus personality and wasn't afraid to be reckless

-Knock-

"I'm coming!"Haruhi called as she unlocked the door and opened up the door.. then she froze….

"You'd be surprised how much I care about Haruhi"Kyoya replied feeling offended by Kaorus insult

"Not as much as I care about her!"Kaoru wasn't about to back down from things

"I'm sure it's not as much as I do"His voice stopped their fight. Kyoya and Kaoru looked over to the door where Haruhi now sat on the floor on shock. He bend down and offered his and to her, but she just sat there, scared, fearful with his name on her lips…
