"I choose Espeon," Red said sending out his Espeon that evolved from Eevee.
"I will lead with Venonat," Koga said sending out Venonat.

"This Venonat has a great deal more experience." Koga said and as if to drive Koga's point home Venonat glowed white before changing form into a moth like Pokémon.

"Venomoth, the evolved form of Venonat. Tiny scales on its wings disperse various spores when they are flapped." Rita's Pokedex said.

Espeon fired a Psybeam that did some damage to Venomoth but the Stun Spore from Venomoth was stronger as it paralyzed her.

"Venomoth Signal Beam," Koga said as Venomoth fired a powerful Signal Beam.
"VENO!"
"Espeon fight back with Shadow Ball," Red said but Espeon was paralyzed as the Signal Beam knocked her out.

"Charmeleon dodge and use Flamethrower," Red said as Charmeleon dodged and fired a Flamethrower attack which scored a direct hit, "Now use Fire Punch."

"Venomoth return," Koga said calmly recalling Venomoth, "Golbat I choose you."

Charizard nodded knowing that it wasn't Red's fault as Reina and Rita prepared to do battle with Koga but waited for Koga to hand over the Soul Badge.

"Ponyta I choose you," Rita said.

"This is an official double battle between Koga the Gym Leader and the challengers Reina and Rita Thompson of Pallet town," The Ref said, "The battle ends when both Pokémon on either side are unable to battle. Begin."
"Muk use Toxic, Weezing use Smokescreen," Koga said.

"Slowpoke use Safeguard," Reina said.
"Ponyta use Flamethrower on Muk," Rita said.

Muk fired a Sludge Bomb attack while Weezing used a Smokescreen to cover the field in smoke.
"Now how are they gonna get out of this?" Helen asked.

"Ponyta use Sunny Day," Rita said.

"Muk and Weezing are unable the battle, the winners of this double battle are Ponyta and Slowpoke," the ref said, "Which means the victory goes to Reina and Rita Thompson of Pallet Town."
