This story is going downhill fast. But thank you to everyone who sent in worried comment about me and what I'm going through. I promise I will not abandon this story. As my way of saying thank you.

Life's getting better, my sisters coming home from the hospital and even though I miss my dad a lot, I feel better after writing this story.

This chapter is going to be short, sorry. It not off hiatus just yet since I'm not sure when I'll update again. So you'll have to wait a while for the next chapter.

Kai's point of view.

I kept expecting Chen's forces to find us but the tunnel were surprisingly empty. We travel in the tunnel for a good half hour. I was always in the front. I was thinking that we'd walk in silence but almost immediately Lloyd and I started a conversation. I didn't realize just how much I missed him. It feel like we finally where we should be: together. But I wasn't long before the conversations turned serious.

I started it be saying "Do you know where Chen is keeping Zane"

Everyone but Speedy sighed "No, unfortunately but we only been able to search half of the tunnels before we ran into you"

"Only about half" I said, feeling deflated. "We don't have enough time to check all of the tunnel"

"So what do we do" Asked Lloyd

" I think we should focus on taking down Chen, once he's behind bars everyone, Cole and Jay included, could help us search for him." said Garmadon, always the voice of reason.

I was in the middle of wallowing in self-pity and worry, when Speedy raised his hand like a kid in school would, and said "Slow down, I have a couple questions for you guys."

"Okay, go ahead" I said feeling like a teacher or a parent.

"Who's this Zane? A friend"

"A brother" I corrected " The reason me and Lloyd are on this island"

"Is he working for Chen" The very thought of that made me mad, and made me want to slap someone. Preferably Chen.

"No, he's not working for Chen. He was kidnap and brought to this island, In order to lure us here. We wouldn't have come otherwise"

"Really" Speedy asked in surprise "I came because -"

"Of the riches and the chance to be crowned the strongest in Ninjago. Yeah we know." I sighed

"You know I've always wonder if we were the only one" said Lloyd absentmindedly

"The only one's what"

"The only ones who were blackmailed into coming here"

"I sure we aren't. Nothing is above Chen" I answered grimly.

"So how many do you think come here against their wills"

I sighed "I don't want to know . . . . b-but if I had to guess, I'd say at least half"

Speedy looked startled "Really that many, h-how do you know"

"I guess I should tell you what I've been doing while you've been gone." I explained about the apprenticeship Chen offered, about my escape and why I'm dressed like one of Chen's guards and, most importantly about the captive that are being held and forced to work.

"If she hadn't helped me I would have been capture along with everyone else. And In return I promised her that I would come back for them. I intended to keep that promise. "

"Kai," Garmadon huffed, all the walking finally getting to him "That was extremely rash thing to do, who knows if we can ever keep a promise like that."

"If YOU can't, I'll go in alone." I said staring straight ahead, completely determined.

"No" They said in unison.

"Then there's no point in arguing. I'm going no matter what, so either get on board or get out of the way. "I still didn't look at them only at the path ahead.

"Kai, be reasonable. We need to get out of here. The three of you are the only one with powers left-"

Which means that were the only one who could do something about Chen. We need to stay and fight "We turned a corner

"No that means that we need to get you three off the island and away from Chen."

"Kai, my dad's right" Those words hurt but there was no way I was backing out.

"So you just want to abandon them is that it" I could smell the ocean. We're were almost out.

"No of course not. I just want to wait for Sensei and -"

"And while were waiting Chen is doing who knows what to the other competitors. I won't abandon them. "This back and forth is pissing everyone off (yes, even Garmadon), I could tell just by looking at them. I wonder when we became so close. Lloyd was the first to snap. Probably because he had so much to lose: Me

"This is not up for debate. We're leaving this island as soon as we meet up with Cole and Jay." Snapped Lloyd, in a You-will-listen-to-me-voice

"Cole and Who" interrupted Speedy

"Not now" I snapped at him before turning back to Lloyd "Are you really okay with leaving everyone, leaving Zane."

"Kai please" Started Garmadon.

"No-no, no please. We're leaving, end of discussion " 'Who died and made him leader' I wondered

"Then leave, I don't need you" Those words were like venom in my mouth but I knew they had to be said. Even though I'd rather he cut off my hand than leave, I knew it would be better this way. I can't afford any distractions and Lloyd is a major one. We can figure out our relationship later, when everyone safe "If you leave Chen can't complete his spell and I -"

"Were not leaving you." Garmadon answered firmly because Lloyd looked to hurt to speak.

"Then you're not leaving" That was the first time I noticed how steep the floor was and how fresh the air smelled. We were traveling much faster than I thought we were.

"So . . . how much longer are we going to continue going around in circles." Speedy asked sarcastically. I stopped in my tracks and turned to the others. I could feel a breeze on my back and hear the bird chirping.

"I made a promise to a friend, one I will keep-,"

"But -"

"Be quiet, and let me talk. If it was me captured without my powers, would you still leave "There was no answer." I know I would never leave without any of you and if you think I'm goanna leave Neuro or Shadow or Skylar or Zane you're out of you mind. If being 'reasonable' means abandoning people then I'll stay as I am now thank you very much. "

Then without waiting for an answer, I turn back around and headed toward the exit of the tunnel.

Lloyd grabbed my hand before I made it two steps but surprisingly it was speedy who spoke first.

"Right before Chen took you away, you asked me to contact your friends and to help them make their way to the island. I did what you asked. But while I was talking to them and setting up a place to meet, they asked me for a favor. Well a girl named Nya did. I promised her that I'd bring you home, all three of you. So I'll drag you too the meet up if I have too."

I laughed at that, not because of the promise he made to Nya but because he thought he could take me. I wrenched my hand away from him and said, "Do you really think you could stop"

"Yes" was his answer.

I got into my fighting stance. "Just try it, I'll knock you flat on your face"

Just as the first punch was going to be thrown, Garmadon and Lloyd step between us. I almost knocked Lloyd upside the head.

We were forced apart.

I struggled to slow down my breathing. Adrenaline pumped through my body, I felt something build in my pit of my stomach, something powerful and strong. It wasn't like my fire power, the warm pleasant feeling, it was like I ate a cloud, a fluffy and hazy kind of feeling. It was . . .

I gasped and flinched away from Lloyd. I moved away from everyone, suddenly afraid that I would hurt them.

They all stared at me with shock.

Lloyd approach me and I backed away from him, out of the cave.

Off the side of a cliff. The tunnel exited out to the side of the island, No stairs, and no handles to stop someone from falling into the ocean. or on the pointy rocks and crashing waves. (The tunnels exit was a cliff that's above the ocean, it opened to the ocean. That might be kind of confusing)

There was no way to stop myself.

"Watch out"

"Kai"

"Nooooooooo"

I forced my eyes open and flung my arms towards the cliff, hoping to grab onto something that could slow my decent.

Instead a reddish cloud with specks of black and green appeared from my hands. It wrapped around my body like armor and stopped me from hitting the rocks or entering the water. The mist was like being engulfed in warm water. And something else. Something I could explain but felt amazing. It was a feeling of safety and of love.

"Wha-" Lloyd surprised gasp, braking me out of my dazed state.

"Kai are you all right" Speedy yell down towards me.

"Yeah, I think so. G-Garmadon. . Is this what I think it is" I couldn't move, it was like the haze was rooted in this spot.

"Dad . . . What's going on?"

Garmadon voice quivered and broke "It seems Chen was right. She's using Magic"

"Magic" I yelled in horror.

"She?" gasped Speedy.

"You knew, that Kai's was girl, about our secret, you knew all along" Lloyd yelled disbelievingly.

The universe just love throwing us a curve ball, doesn't it.
