hehehehe...I'm really sorry for not updating...I'll explain my reasons at the end(assuming you guys actually wanna know lol)... SO ANYWAYS! ON TO THE STORRYYYYYYYYY! please remember to leave a review, or favorite and follow :) your feedback means a lot to me!
Also: I all of the science stuff I use in this chapter and the next (and final *sniff) chapters are used for the story. I don't exactly know if any of it is possible, but it makes sense in my head...
Disclaimer: If I owned Marvel/Disney would I be writing this?
Guy stared me down from 50 feet away. His gaze was frightening, especially under the dark clouds that were still above the city. It would totally rain soon, if not in the next hour.
I thought back to my progress in the past two days. It had been about two hours since I decided to pay Guy a visit to his lab, and about one since the fight began. One hour down, and I barely had an idea on how to take Guy down. My chances were pretty slim, and there were a lot of gaps in my so-called plan.
For an instance, I assumed that Guy's magnetic field was based on something local, or underground. Compared to it being purely natural, I was going pretty far out on a limb. Also, Tony had told me there was a possibility of the serum being temporary, but I didn't have the patience to wear him down to a detainable size. Economically speaking, our fight had probably caused and accumulated at least half a million in damages.
My thoughts returned to the standoff on the roof when Guy spoke first. "See Pepper? All of this, every single bit of damage done below us, is all your fault."
I snorted. As if.
But then he continued. "If you had just agreed to break it off with Mr. Stark and join me in holy matrimony-" I gagged at that thought "-all of this wouldn't have had to happen." Crown started pacing back and forth on the rooftop and I took a few steps backward.
"All of this-" he gestured around and below us "-could all go away if you decide to come with me. This is your last chance to make a decision, a better decision."
The smirk that lined my mouth fell away from my face and I began to think about what Crown said. In his own, contorted way, Guy was right. Had I said yes, all of this crap wouldn't have happened. The city would have been safe and I wouldn't have endangered anyone but myself.
I wasn't about to change my decision, despite his enticing offer. This was because when I thought backwards, through everything, I knew it wasn't my fault. It was Crown's. He wanted the power of the serum to himself. Maybe letting him into Stark Tower with access to old records wasn't the smartest move, especially without a thorough severity check. However, Tony and I's decision to trust Crown didn't make his choices our faults. Guy was willing to put others in danger for his own benefit. All of this was his fault, his problem, and it had nothing to do with me.
I halted my thoughts and looked up at Crown across the roof. "My decision remains," I told him. "None of this is my fault, and I am not about to let you pin the responsibility for your choices on me. It's your fault, because you are a self-centered, obsessive, power-hungry bastard." I knew my word had little power over him, so I was pretty prepared for his reaction.
Crown released a loud, hearty laugh. "Ha! Maybe all of this is true, but you refused my offer, so I don't care! That was your last chance to make the right decision, and you blew it! I guess I have to kill you now!" He said it so gleefully it was almost creepy. One minute he was going to take me as his bride, the next he was excited to kill me.
Goody, I thought, I actually get to see him try now.
My spirits began to fall. How was I going to do this? It looked as if there was no real winner. Either way one of us was going down and by the looks of things it would be me.
Crown charged at me, and I braced myself. I was personally expecting something much more dramatic. Maybe my life would flash before my eyes, or I would think my 'last thoughts' about the people I loved the most like Tony, or my parents, and other family members. But I didn't because I wasn't given the chance.
Everything clicked. It was weird and indescribable. I always heard stories from Tony about being "one with the suit", and I never imagined it possible. It was crazy. Something happened and I no longer had to think about how to do things with the suit. It was all automatic.
I shot upwards while simultaneously triggering the magnetic vision and the magnetic portion of the suit. It worked, thank God.
While shooting into the air at crazy speeds, I thought back to Miss Perkins's 7th grade science class and the lesson we had on temporary and permanent magnets. I vaguely remember thinking about Crown not attracting any metal or him being attracted to anything either. This was especially weird with his crazy powerful magnetic field.
So maybe, he could become a temporary magnet.
Of course the chances of that actually being right were seriously slim. I was very worried since I had no clue of the sciences behind the magnetic stuff, but it was worth a go anyway.
At first, nothing happened. As Crown passed underneath me, his path didn't change or become nearer to me. Through my magnetic vision, I could see the field surrounding Crown become a darker shade of purple.
He jumped up to grab me and the magnetic manipulation caught on and brought him into the air towards me. My suit creaked and squeaked, strained underneath the pull of Guy's weight. Still, I pulled him higher and higher, slowly but surely into the sky.
The suit continued to creak, and in the top left corner of my mask a bright little exclamation point and a warning symbol appeared. "Miss Potts, the pressure on the suit is becoming too much," JARVIS told me.
I gritted my teeth and continued to ascend. I looked down at Crown, expecting a shrunken and more humanoid figure. My hopes fell seeing as he was still the giant, hairy, and muscular monster he was before.
The exclamation mark began to blink and make beeping noises. I was sweating and becoming rather nervous, but I had to keep going. The blinking and beeping sped up and became louder, letting me know that I was quickly reaching the suit's limit
Finally, something happened.
I quit fighting against the suit, and so it released my magnetic hold on Crown. I gasped, watching him plummet to the ground.
Okay, so I again apologize for sucking as an updater...My summers are traditionally busier than my school seasons. Right now I'm in the middle of three sports seasons(swimming, sailing, and marching band), so I'm not exactly keen on spending my free time actually doing stuff. not that I don't love this story, it's just hfsadjhsgjshsahdg. Anyways, so between swim meets, morning practices, sailing practices, regattas, and marching band practices, i only want to sleep and binge watch shows like Parks & Rec, Community, and Supernatural. So I'm really sorry, because I'm also super lazy.
BONUS: IM ALMOST DONE WITH SUMMER READING! SO MORE UPDATES AND STORIES AND WRITINGGGG!
Alos: I've decided that if I write a sequel to this story, I would probably add it as a continuation. I WILL NOT CONTINUE IF ONLY ONE OR TWO PEOPLE WANT ME TO. If you guys want me to keep going and sequel, I can, but I want to make sure there is an okay-sized audience for it. Secondly, I'm really pumped for The Commons, as I've decided to call it, which will be put out after this fic wraps up.
Okay thats all I got. Thanks for reading, Have a nice day!
