Once they get into the car, Kaito asks Miku, "Should I take you home? Or do you want to come over my place for a while?"

Miku blushes a little. "Could we go to your house for a bit?"

Kaito starts the car. "Sure, " he says.

After driving for a while, they arrive at Kaito's house. Kaito opens the door, and they enter.

Miku turns to him. "So, what do you want to do?"

Kaito's mouth is full of ice cream. "mainomwo..."

Miku smiles. "Swallow first, Kaito."

Kaito swallows. "Sorry. I don't know."

Miku thinks for a bit. "I know it seems like a little kid thing, but how about hide and seek?"

Kaito puts the ice cream container back in the fridge. "Okay."

Miku smiles and runs off. She shouts, "You count first!"

Kaito starts to count as Miku is already finding a hiding place. Kaito counts to twenty and says, "I'm coming to look now!"

He first looks in the living room. No Miku. Kaito continues to look through the first floor of his house. She is nowhere to be found. He has already taken twenty minutes. Kaito walks up the stairs and decides to look in his room first. He checks the closet.

MIku is in there and is snooping through his stuff. She looks up.

Kaito says, "Hi."

Miku looks away. "Um... Sorry."

He smiles and holds his arm out to help her get up. "Don't worry about it. I'd get bored if someone took this long to find me too."

Miku can't hide her curiosity. "What's in that box?"

"Which one?"

Miku points at it. "This one with the lock and it was long and curved, one end was thinner than the other. It had a zipper running along the side. Now that I think of it, I wouldn't call it a box. More of a...umm... What's the word I'm looking for...? Like a case! That's the word!"

Kaito pulls the case out of the closet.

Miku continues to speak. "So, what's in it? It doesn't look like there would be a lot in it, though."

Kaito looks at the case. "It has a lock. I don't know where the key is."

"Oh," says Miku. She then perks up. "Well, let's go find it!"

Kaito looks down at the case again and realizes something. "Do I actually play...?"

Miku looks at him, confused. "What?"

"Remember how earlier someone brought up a violin and the master asked if I played, but I couldn't remember? It looks dusty. I probably stopped a long time ago and just forgot? Maybe?"

Miku tilts her head. "What do you mean, violin? When did the master bring that up?"

"I don't know. I was lost in my ice cream at the time, but the word 'violin' stuck with me."

"Hmmm..." Miku looks down. "Come on! Let's find that key! Then we can find out what's in the case!"

Kaito looks around and starts searching. So does Miku. She looks under the bed and finds a picture of two people. The boy is dark haired, and so is the girl. She thinks it must have been the people who lived in the house before Kaito, but it was weird they forgot such a nice looking photo. She puts the picture back under the bed and stands up.

"No key there."

Kaito turns around. "So I guess the key isn't in this room." He thinks. "Should we look in the attic?"

Miku nods. "Yeah!" She follows him up to the attic. "It's really dusty in here!" She sneezes.

Kaito finishes climbing the ladder. "I don't think I've been up here in a while."

"This is where the key must be," says Miku certainly.

They start looking through the boxes. As Miku moves to check another box, she trips on a loose floorboard.

"Whoa!"

Kaito turns around. "Are you okay?"

Miku says, "Yeah." She looks down at the floor and lifts the floorboard. Miku grabs something, and turns to smile at Kaito. There is something in her hand.

He smiles back. "You found it! Now to see if it unlocks the case."

They hurry down the ladder and back into Kaito's room where the case lies waiting on the bed.

Miku looks at him. "You ready?"

He nods. Miku exhales and inserts the key into the lock. She twists it and with a click, the lock pops open. She unzips the case slowly, and lifts up the top.

Inside is a shattered violin.

Miku frowns. "That's so sad. What happened to it?"

"I don't know. Maybe that's why it was locked away. Because it was broken."

Miku shakes her head. "But why not try to fix it?"

"It might have been somebody else's and they didn't have money to fix it."

"Then why do you have it? Wait..." Miku remembers something. She kneels down and reaches under the bed to grab the picture she found earlier. "Maybe it was one of theirs."

"How did that get there?"

"It was probably left here by the previous residents."

"True. I just don't know how I didn't find it before."

"Yeah." Miku looks at the violin again. "It almost makes me want to cry, for some reason. Can we get it fixed somehow?"

Kaito looks at it as well. "If you want to."

Miku nods definitely. "Yeah. Violins are so pretty! I wish I knew how to play!"

Kaito looks at her with a small smile. "Once we get it fixed, you can."

Miku remembers something else. "Remember that song we heard on that one date? It was so sad, but passionate, like the it was the last thing the musician would ever play. I want to learn how to play like that."

Kaito says, "I still don't remember anything from before today, but once you learn, you can show me. Maybe I'll remember."

Miku smiles. "Yeah, that sounds like a great plan." No one speaks for a few seconds. "Do you want to keep the lock, because I want to keep the key."

He smiles back at her. "Sure."

They both laugh a little. Miku looks at a clock on the wall.

"Well, it's getting late..." She blushes and says a little quieter, "I would love to stay the night, but I don't have pajamas here."

Kaito blushes too. "Well... Um... If you want, er, you could borrow a t-shirt I have to sleep in. I like your company..."

Miku looks at him with happy eyes. "Sleepover!"

Kaito nods. "Alright." He starts looking through his drawers and finds a grey t-shirt and the smallest pajama pants he owns. "You can use these. They'll probably be a bit big on you. And since your staying, what would you like for dinner?"

Miku exclaims, "Let's order sushi!"

"Sounds good. Do you know the number of a place that delivers?"

"Uh, yeah!" She scribbles it down on a piece of paper she finds. "You can order whatever. I trust your taste!"

"Okay, I'll go order now. You can change while I'm gone, if you want." Kaito leaves the room.

Once Miku gets changed, she notices she got a text from an unknown number.

It reads: Fix the violin, and have him suffer.

Another text comes through: I know you have it. Send it to the graveyard when no one is around. Tell nobody.

Miku is a bit worried by the texts, but replies anyway.

I'll be there at midnight.
