It had been a couple of days, since Damon had spilled his feelings and thoughts to Elena, and even though he seemed okay, Elena still aware of the impact that the truth had, had on him.
Being the man he was though, Damon didn't want to bombard his head, with the 'what if's' or the memories. He wanted to go out, experience things, so tonight – being the charming man he was, decided to invite Elena to a gig he and his band had. Of course Elena was dreading it, but she wanted to support him in something that he enjoyed, and beside, the curiosity was killing her.
Damon had suggested to bring along a few friends, "the more the merrier" he had said, so Elena not having much of a choice, rang Caroline and Bonnie. Caroline being Caroline was more than up for it, whilst Bonnie took a lot more convincing, but in the end she agreed. The only rule being, they couldn't drink, if she couldn't. Of course this arose a few grumbles but they both finally agreed.
With the gig being around 5ish, Damon was gone most of the day, setting up. Even though Elena didn't want to worry about him, she couldn't help it. It was something that she just couldn't let go of. Damon was Stefan's brother.
Talking of Stefan, Elena had received a letter from the prison, regarding him. He wanted a visit. This of course, left Elena contemplating weather to tell Damon, or not. It would give him a chance to see his brother, and his best friend, even if it was just only for an hour or so. But In the end, she decided against it. It wasn't that she didn't want Damon to see his brother; it was just the fear of his reaction. She would just leave the letter out, if he found it, she would say, but she wasn't going to bring it up. That's the last thing he needed right now.
When the clock hit 3, Elena started to get ready. She had already taken a shower, savouring the time. She always enjoyed showers, the warm water running over her body, as she let the 20 minutes seem like forever. She had already picked out her outfit; a leather jacket, paired with a plain black top and skinny jeans. The last essential being her shoes – a pair of black miniature heel booties that she had got as a present one year, from Stefan. As much as it irritated and saddened her, she wasn't going to let him stop her from wearing them.
At about half four, Caroline pulled up outside, Elena had just finishing curling her hair, when she heard the honk from her car. She knew Caroline would be on time, she always was. Turning the curling tongs off, she quickly grabbed her handbag, making sure she had everything. Phone, check. Wallet, check. Keys check.
Rushing downstairs, Elena rushed to the door, before opening it, to tell Caroline she was almost ready. Grabbing her shoes, she slid them on, before exiting the house, making sure she locked the door. God, she hated being in a rush.
20 minutes later, Caroline, Bonnie and Elena, pulled up outside of the mystic grill. Even though it wasn't the fanciest of places, it was fine. It wasn't the grill, Elena would be taking any notice of, but the man inside.
Walking through the door, the three girls searched for a table. It was crammed, the only spare seats being at the bar. Elena didn't realise how popular Damon's band was – well if anyone was as good looking as him, she guessed it wasn't that surprising.
"Hey, Elena" Damon shouted, noticing the three ladies, opposite him. "Oh hey" she replied, turning round to face the man she had been worried about all day.
"It's looks like you have a lot of fans" Elena added, singling to the crowds gathered around the stage, which had been set up. Damon laughed, "So it seems"
"Hey, can I get you all a drink" He added, finally taking notice of Caroline and Bonnie "I get them free, it's sort of a gesture from the grill" Elena and Caroline looked up, both thinking about the free booze, before remembering the packed that they both made with Bonnie. "Thank you Damon, but a certain pregnant women won't let us drink" Caroline spoke, nudging Bonnie a little. Damon looked confused, turning to Elena, who was smiling.
"Yeah, we made a packed, if she can't drink, we can't drink" she groaned, "Oh" Damon replied, "Well I can get you all a soft drink, if you want. Of course their not as much fun, but they'll do" He laughed. "Bonnie" Damon said, signalling to the women who had made this unfair but slightly hilarious packed. "Um. Orange juice please" She said, noticing Elena and Caroline's faces. "But before you order, Elena, Caroline have what ever you want – just because I'm knocked up, doesn't mean you are. Have whatever you like" Elena face brightened up, but Caroline's was still dull.
"Hey, Caroline brighten up" Elena suggested "Didn't you hear what she just said" "We can drink"
This only made matters worst, and before they knew it, Caroline was running too the bathroom. Bonnie quickly scurried after her, whilst Elena signalled to Damon that they wouldn't be long.
Damon nodded, before being called to the stage.
Elena finally made her way to the bathroom, noticing Bonnie being huddled round Caroline. "Hey, guys is everything alright" Elena asked, still confused at what had just gone on" "yeah, everything's okay" Caroline said, reaching for her two best friends. "I'm just being stupid"
"Why what's wrong" Bonnie said, holding one of Caroline's hands. "It's just…"
"What Care" Elena butted in. "Klaus called off the wedding" Caroline suddenly blurted out, "What why" " Because I'm pregnant," She added, before hearing a couple of gasped. "He thinks that the baby, will spoil everything" "why does he think that?" Elena asked, rubbing her best friend shoulder for comfort.
"Because, he thinks he will lose me, so he suggested that I either get rid of the baby or he gets rid of me". "I was so determined to drink tonight, but when I thought of the life inside of me, I just couldn't. It's Klaus's child too, so I don't know why he doesn't want it!" Caroline took a deep breath "Guy's I don't know what to do"
Bonnie and Elena looked at each other before both embracing Caroline in a hug.
"Well, Klaus is a fool, he has a beautiful girlfriend and maybe even a child on the way" Elena said, reassuring Caroline "he's blind if you ask me" Bonnie added, laughing a little.
"Hey, lets just have a good night" Elena suggested, "I think we all need it" "We can all beat up Klaus tomorrow, Okay?" Elena laughed.
They all laughed before agreeing, Caroline drying her eyes, before following her two best friends out into the bar.
They were just in time. Damon's band that had now been named as 'the Salvatore's' was just starting. Elena smiled at the name, it reminded her of the connection of family.
Before long, Damon's band was in full swing, and the rumours were right – Damon could sing.
"Now I want to dedicate this song, to a very special someone. She has had some tough times, and she deserves this. So Elena, where ever you are" Damon said, bringing the microphone closer. "This is for you"
Elena blushed, she wasn't expected this. This was something that happened in movies or TV shows, not to her – not in her life. But here, she was, witnessing the man that she had known for a good 6 months now, playing a song for her. The worst part, was it made her heart pulse, and the feelings that she had rarely told him about, grow stronger. Damn you Salvatore.
When the music started to play, it wasn't like the songs that they had played previously, but slower, more full of feeling. Everyone stayed silent as he sung the first line.
"I've tried before to tell her
Of the feelings I have for her in my heart
Every time that I come near her
I just lose my nerve as I've done from the start
Every little thing she does is magic
Every thing she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Do I have to tell the story?
Of a thousand rainy days
Since we first met
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always her that ends up getting wet
Every little thing she does is magic
Every little thing she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Every little thing she does is magic
Every thing she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on"
As soon as the song was over, everyone was full of awe. Women filled the girll with clapping and whistling, whilst men muttered under their breath that it was soppy. Damon didn't care though; he was too busy looking at Elena. Elena was too busy looking at him. In that moment, Elena knew she loved him.
She didn't want to, it terrified her, but in that moment she knew she loved him.
Elena, was so stupid, she had fallen in love with a man, who before two days ago, didn't even know his last name. The worst part being, that he was related to Stefan. But now, it didn't bother her though, not anymore. Stefan was gone but Damon was here. She loved him, and hopefully he loved her, the past was the past. Damon undoubtedly was still upset and distraught by his brother's actions and disappearance but they would tackle that together when Damon was ready – but at least they would do it together.
"I love you" Elena mouthed, feeling as vulnerable and as scared as hell when those words left her mouth. She hadn't said them since Stefan, but as soon as Damon mouthed those words back, she knew she would be okay. That they both would be.
A/N: Oh look, two chapters in a day. Thank you too everyone who reviews and follows this story. I swear it takes me forever to upload, so for that I'm sorry. Well I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I wanted to include a song, due to Damon being in a band, and I think this song goes with the whole situation in the story. Well I hope it does. I know the part about Caroline is kind of brief, but I didn't want to go into as much depth, as I wanted to focus more on Damon and Elena, but if you want me too, I will. Just tell me. Anyway, hope you enjoyed it, please review.
P.S the song is "every little thing she does is magic" (if you haven already guessed J) by Sleeping at Last. Anyway Byeeee.
