Thanks for the reviews. I'm hoping this is still in character. It might be a little OOC. I always imagined that after nearly seeing Holiday die, Six might be starting to realize that she means more to him than just a colleague. I also imagined that it might be hard for Holiday to face death for the first time. And who better to help her through it? (Yes, I know she went through that whole Rylander rainforest episode but she was never in the peril she was in this episode. And I'd like to think that under the emotionless exterior Six was worried about her. I thought, although I could have imagined it, that Six paused when Holiday said, it's good to hear your voice.)

I do not own.

Gravity

"Holiday? Why are you still up?"

"Oh Six, you startled me. I was… I was just finishing up my report."

"In your lab… in the dark?"

"Oh... well, like I said... just finishing up… I was just about to go to bed…"

"You're shaking."

"No, I'm not…. I mean I'm cold… I mean it's cold in here."

...

"What...What are you doing, Six?"

"Helping with the cold."

"You don't have to… No really Six… Don't… Oh, okay, thank you, Six… but don't you feel under-dressed without your jacket?"

"No, only if I don't have my blades."

"Your blades? Really?"

"Yes, I need my blades."

"What about in the shower?"

"I don't think that is an appropriate question to ask."

"Sorry, I guess in your line of work you'd feel naked without your weapons."

"Just partially…. What's so amusing?"

"I'm just imagining something…."

"Hmph, I probably don't want to know…"

"You're probably right."

"...Are you… all right? You had a rough day."

"It… It was a close one today. But thanks to Rex we're fine."

"You don't seem fine."

"I guess I'm still a little... wired from today. Plus I'm so annoyed. All those months of research… gone because that pompous… scientist, Bouvier, insisted on bringing his own program on board. And of course a killer AI would happen to have written itself into that very program."

"But he paid for it."

"I know…"

"You still feel bad, don't you?"

"No one deserves to go that way, Six."

"But it was his own fault."

"Ultimately, I suppose, but Zag-RS is the real culprit… I hope it was destroyed when the space station crashed."

"We can hope... but you did sacrifice those nanites to save Rex, though."

"...How did you know?"

"Rex told me. He feels bad that you lost all that research."

"Well, he shouldn't. I'd do it all over again. I couldn't let Rex go like that... not after all he's done for us. I'd rather give up those nanites than Rex. But don't tell White Knight. He'd be furious."

"Don't worry. It stays here."

"Thanks."

...

"Whoever designed that program must have been mad…"

"...Probably, but we may never know."

"Why would anyone write a program that destroys nanites at any cost... even at the cost of a life?"

"Who knows?"

"I guess I'm just rambling now. You must be tired Six. You should go rest now …"

"I'm not the one who almost died in space this morning then spent several hours in the ocean waiting to be picked up…"

"How did you find us? Volkov said the transponder was fried."

"It wasn't easy but we managed."

"Well, I'm glad you did. I could only stand so many stanza's of Down by the Bay."

"You had a radio?"

"No, Rex and Volkov were singing."

"…That… must have been painful…"

"Well, I convinced them to stop singing I'm a Gummy Bear in Russian."

"…Ouch…"

"Yeah…"

"No wonder you can't sleep. That alone would give me nightmares for weeks."

"Ha… wait, who said I couldn't sleep."

"Holiday, it's past 3 AM. You're sitting in the dark… I know I'm not a genius like you but give me some credit…"

"All right, Six. You're right. I… I… couldn't sleep…"

"Want to talk about it?"

"… How do you do it?"

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, how do you face almost dying nearly every day and not even flinch?"

"… I guess you get use to it."

"I'm not sure I can. I keep playing over and over in my mind any number of scenarios where we didn't survive."

"Don't think about the what-might-have-beens, Be grateful that all the pieces did fall into place … no pun intended…and… and that you are here now…safe."

"I'm trying but… every time I close my eyes I see Rhodes being sucked out and the space station falling out of orbit..."

"Rhodes survived…"

"I know, thank goodness. I would hate to lose another friend…"

"Holiday, in our line of work…"

"I know, be professional… throw up walls, have no friends, or feelings, or…"

"That wasn't what I was going to say…. What I was trying to say is that in our line of work, it's hard to… get close to people because of the possibility of loss… However, the friends we do make are supposed to be there to help us through difficult times…"

"…I... I don't understand…"

"It's good to hear your voice, too."

...

"Now try to get some rest. I can try to get you some time off with Knight…"

"No, it's okay, Six. I… I think I can sleep now. "

"That's good. Can I escort you back to your room?"

"Of course, I do need to return your jacket."

"You can borrow it. I have a few like it."

"This one not your favorite?"

"I'm still looking."

...

...

"Well, we're here. Good night, Six… and thank you."

"Good night, doctor… and you're welcome."
