Will you be my Valentine?
(Nessie AGE 8, other's 11)
Today was Valentines Day here at Forks Elementary School and I was really excited. We're supposed to be giving out a bunch of valentines to our class mates like we do every year. It's normally the same old candy and cheap valentines day cards. However, this year would be different. This year I wanted my very own valentine. Mommy had told me a valentine was someone special to you, someone who makes you very happy. Someone who knows you from the inside out and you can be yourself around. When I asked her who her valentine was she said it was Daddy. So I then decided to ask my sister and brother...
"Alice?" I asked my sister as she decorated the house for the holiday. My sister has been known to get excited over every single holiday out there. I've seen her even decorate this place for arbor day.
"Yes?" Alice sung as she danced in the room. She was currently decorating the whole house with pink and red hearts, sticking them wherever she could put them up.
"Do you have a valentine?" I asked her curiously.
"Jasper," my sister answered proudly, followed by a grin.
"Jasper?" I repeated.
"Yeah, Jasper," she told me dreamily. "We are definitely meant to be. I know, after all my–"
"Third eye, yeah we know, Ali," Edward said behind a book. He was currently reading while Alice pranced all around him.
"Oh shut up, Mr. Mind Reader," Alice retorted, rolling her eyes at him. "Why ya always gotta ruin the fun? Huh?"
Edward shot her a glare, but I ignored it as I approached him. "Edward?"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"Do you have a valentine?" I asked my brother. Almost immediately he blushes.
"Maybe Bella..." Edward muttered under his breath. However, he then shook his head and looked at me curiously."Why do you ask?"
"Cuz I want a valentine" I explained to him with a smile.
"No valentines until you're twenty," Edward stated in a mumble before turning back to his book. I frowned and put my hands on my hips.
"Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, you can't tell me what to do," I told him fiercely. "Only Mommy and Daddy can."
"Nessie is right," Alice said, placing her hands on my shoulders. "We are independent women. We may do as we please."
"No, Edward's right," my dad said, overhearing us as he came out of his office. "You and Alice aren't allowed to go on a date until you're forty."
"What is this? 1918?" Alice shrieked. "Relax, will ya!?"
"Girls, don't listen to your father or your brother," Mommy said, coming over. "They're just being silly."
"Hope so," Alice said, sending both Edward and Daddy a glare. "Because Jasper and I will get married earlier than forty. I even have my wedding dress picked out!"
After that ordeal, I decided it was only natural to pick someone really special to me. However, I just hope they accept me to be their valentine this year. I was really nervous.
"Nessie?" I turn to see Jacob come over to me.
"Hey, Jake!" I replied, blushing a bright red.
"Nessie...Can I...um..can I ask you something?" Jacob stammered. I saw Seth grinning like an idiot behind him giving me a thumbs up. I just ignore the goofball and turn my attention to Jake.
"Oh great, Jake. I have to ask you something too," I told him, fiddling nervously with my thumbs. "Something important, but you go first."
"Oh, well..." he trailed off before taking a deep breath. "Nessie Cullen...Will you be my valentine?" Immediately, I felt myself flush but I also couldn't help but smile.
"Of course, Jake!" I replied. I then blushed some more as I looked briefly down at the ground. "You know, I was going to ask you the same thing."
"Really?" he asked. I nodded enthusiastically and gave him a wide smile.
"You're someone really special to me, Jakey," I told him.
"You're really special to me too, Ness," he said softly.
"So..." Seth said, looking at us now questionably. "Whatcha gonna do now?"
"Huh?" I questioned. "What do you mean?"
"Whatcha gonna do now that you're each others valentines," Seth continued.
"What do we do?" I asked, turning to Jacob who shrugged.
"I know!" Claire Young, one of my close friends, exclaimed as she ran over. "You and Jake should get married!"
"Married!?" the two of us cried out.
"Yeah, married," Claire repeated.
"I can perform the ceremony," Seth announced to us proudly. "I know how to cuz I went to my uncle's a month ago! I was the ring bearer! I'm basically a professional now."
"Come on, Nessie," Claire chimed as she pulled me towards the bathroom and away from Jake. I couldn't help but notice her grab a few things along the way. "I'll help you get ready. You two can get married now since it'll be recess in a few minutes. I'll be your maid of honor and your flower girl."
"Okay," I said, nodding my head as I let my friend work her magic. "I'm glad you're my maid of honor and flower girl then."
"Good," Claire said, smiling at me. "So, first off, at wedding's they have veils and flower bouquets. So here you go!" she then handed me some flowers that she took off the teacher's desk and makes me a veil out of toilet paper.
"Okay..." I said as she places the toilet paper veil on my head. "But this is toilet paper..."
"We don't have a real veil, but it'll do," Claire said. "Anyway, the recess bell is about to ring. Don't want to keep your future husband waiting."
"Guess not," I said as Claire dragged me out of the bathroom.
We ran all the way to the swing sets where Jake was waiting with Seth and another boy, Quil, who Claire likes-likes.
I smiled as I go walk up to Jake with the flowers in my hand and toilet paper veil floating in the wind. Jacob smiled back as I walk over to him and take his hand.
"Happy Valentines day, everyone!" Seth shouted. "Today I am going to marry Jake Black and Nessie Cullen. Nessie do you want Jake to be your husband?"
"Yep!"
"Jake?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay, coolio! Now you have to exchange your rings," Seth said to us. Claire grinned as she came over and handed me a plastic cheap ring you would find in one of those dispensers. It was blue with a dog on it. Jake had the same with a butterfly on it. We both exchanged them, placing the plastic rings on our fingers.
"Where did you get these?" I asked curiously.
"Colin gave out rings. These were mine and Seth's, but it's a sacrifice we're willing to make for our bride and groom," Claire declared.
"Oh, thanks guys," I said, blushing as I looked at the rings I had with Jacob.
"Now," Seth exclaimed. "You have to kiss the bride!" I felt my cheeks go hot and I notice Jake's cheeks turn bright red.
"Come on! Kiss her!" Seth complained. "Then you won't be officially married!"
"Ugh! Fine." I sighed as I reach over to give Jacob a peck on the lips. My first kiss.
"I now pronounce you man and wife!" Seth cheered alongside Claire and Quil.
"Now you need to throw the bouquet!" Claire exclaimed, clapping her hands excitedly.
"Okay!" I then throw the flowers behind me and they all fell on Seth, Claire, and Quil. They didn't seem to find that they were scattered everywhere, in fact they each took a flower for themselves.
"Recess is over!" one of the monitor's then called out. "Time to come inside!"
"Come on, Mrs. Black!" Jake sung, taking my hand. "Let's go inside to tell everyone our news!"
"Okay," I said, grinning happily. And for the rest of the day, I couldn't help but beam with happiness.
When Edward, Alice, and the others finally came to pick us up that day after school, I couldn't help but run up t to them grinning with Jacob.
"Guess what!" I squealed, rushing at them.
"What?" Edward asked.
"Jakey and I got married during recess today!" I exclaimed, holding up our hands. "I am not Mrs. Black!" I look to see my brother's face harden while Emmett and Jasper were trying to contain their laughter. Alice was bouncing all over the place, Bella was warmly smiling at us, while Rosalie chuckled.
"Edward? Are you okay?" I asked my brother, waving a hand in front of his face.
"Yeah I'm fine," he muttered. "It's just that little sister's only eight years old and she's already married!? Before me!?"
"It's not that bad, Edward," I said, rolling my eyes. "Come on, I wanna tell Mommy and Daddy!"
"Oh, this should be good," Emmett snickered as we all ran back to where mommy and daddy were picking us up to share the good news about Jake and I!
