Chapter 14- Eternal Love
Erza stood up abruptly and turned to her team mates.
"We are leaving in an hour, meet at the station."
Natsu's head popped out from under the table, with his mouth open fully intended to speak, though Erza gave him her coldest glare and walked away, heart set fully set on finding Jellal.
After a moment of silence, everyone went out of their trance and followed suit, except for Happy who was trying to revive a frozen Natsu.
A permanent frown was etched across her pale face, red hair flying behind her as she stomped down the streets of the town. Her brown orbs were filled with determination, with an underlying hint of desperation. Desperation to go and find the one she held dearest in her heart.
The cheerful twittering of the birds around her slowly became more muffled, as she became more submerged into her thoughts. Thoughts about him that have built up over the weeks and the months, when there was no news about him, the thoughts like the devil himself, would creep up and expose himself in the times when she felt the loneliest. The voice would often whispering sugar coated lies into her ear, reminding her of what she wanted to leave behind, her past self and the undying forgiveness she would give to Jellal.
Silently lecturing herself about thinking negative thoughts, she collected her thoughts and shoved her emotions away, mind fully set on completing the mission.
Meanwhile….
"Natsu, hurry up or we'll be late! You know Erza hates it when we aren't on time."
Lucy placed her hands on her hip, foot tapping impatiently as Natsu moved in a robot like trance towards the station.
Of course, his actions only reflected on his feelings towards modes of transportation consisting of anything with wheels and or magic.
Winds howled and blew thick grey clouds to cover the yellow sun, sending misery across the lands. It whipped around and through the trees, rocking the carriages of the train, sending unfortunate motion sickness affected mages to hurl their stomach outside the window of the train. The bitter cold, and unforgiving winter wind ripped through the fields, passing a lone mage cloaked in black.
Jellal was currently was cursing at the weather, at life and anything involved with it. Yes, Jellal was in a bad mood. Why you ask? Simply because of a prophecy he had.
Oh, this was not an ordinary prophecy, it was one that held tremendous value to him. He was told, the girl of his dreams, a certain redhead, was going to slip away from his fingers once again.
Closing his eyes, scarlet hair flickered into focus. He was running, running after the one that he loved. He called her name, over and over again. Though his voice fell silent to her ears, she could not hear him, nor did she turn around to face him. Suddenly she was falling, down into a pit of darkness. Like leaves that fall from the tree, unable to control the direction they are taking, she falls down towards the bottomless valley. Crows circled above him, cawing and taunting him. "You've lost her, you've lost her" they say, over and over again.
Gritting his teeth, he huffed in disbelief at his stupidness.
Red streaked across his eyes, tugging at his heart. Was it?
Calls of distress brought him out of his daydream, looking up, a mage sniper pointed his beam at him again.
Cursing under his breath, Jellal dodged another laser beam meant for him.
Shaggy brown mop of head topped the scrawny looking mage, he would've looked nice if not for the scar that criss-crossed across his face.
Sneering at him, the mage taunted him by leaped away, to escape Jellal's attack.
And right into the fist of Natsu Dragneel, who had just gotten over his transport sickness when a fight was brewing in front of him.
The Fairy Tail mages took a stance next to Jellal and his team, ready to take on whatever is going to be thrown at them.
Erza flanked his left side, and could not resist the temptation to sneak a glimpse at the face of the one dearest to her.
Only to be met with warm eyes and a crinkled smile by said person.
Quickly averting their eyes, they found themselves rendered unable to use magic.
The magic nullifier mage cast his web over the unsuspecting mages, mind set on capturing the most wanted mages to sell.
Oh today was sure his lucky day, with Jellal Fernardes and his team of misfits. Dollar signs popped up and glazed his eyes, heart filling with greed.
The greed soon turned into flames, as an angry Natsu pounded him with his fist, the fight was on!
Perched upon a tree, the sniper cloaked himself to hide his presence. Surveying the fight below, he was surprised to see the red head and blue head mages work together to defeat the other ancient magic users.
Cht! These Fairy Tail mages are giving us a run for our money!
Aiming his gun at the blonde haired mage's heart, his shot missed when she moved her whip, but managed to hit her thigh.
Lucy screamed in pain, as she fell towards the ground, fainting from the pain.
Natsu went on a rampage, heart intent on killing whoever hurt his nakama.
Jellal was wounded on his left side, as his opponent slashed him with a sword. His opponent copied every single one of his moves, making him have a taste of his own medicine.
Erza defeated her own opponent, and swayed dangerously as her eyesight blurred. The fight was long and taxing, the wounds across her body, a testament of the fight.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the shoe of the sniper up upon the tallest tree. Running towards the tree, she attempted to saw it down.
When that didn't work, she hastily tried to climb the tree. However, she was too tired, unable to move another limb.
She felt so weak, was so weak, that it scared her so much.
From her position on the ground, she glanced around to search where Jellal was.
A soundless scream escaped from her mouth, as she watched him fall to his knees when being shot repeatedly. Resolve griped her strongly.
Desperately climbing up the tree, tears cascaded down her cheeks.
Grabbing the hilt of her sword, she took the sniper mage by surprised, and stabbed him right into the gut. Who knew that he would blow up into pieces like a grenade, and take down whoever killed him as well.
It was in that moment, Erza, plunged into darkness.
"Remember Erza, please remember me. Please! I beg you, I need you desperately!"
A look of pure anguish was poorly hidden from Jellal's face, his blue eyes wavering with unfallen tears. Receiving only silence as a reply, his pleading became more desperate in his response.
"Erza!" A single tear streaked down his face. "Just remember, please! Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you." His emotions overwhelmed him, more tears tumbled down his pain-filled face. "And so… whatever it takes, or how my heartbreaks, just remember, I will be right here waiting for you."
Jellal Fernades, for the first time in his life, felt so worthless and unable to do anything.
Instead of gaining something that should have been his, he lost more than he hoped for.
He lost her.
Days, trickled into months. Months skipped to become years.
Who….
Who will stay by his side now?
Who will she choose to be her lover now?
Who will they become now?
What….
What will come of this new change?
What will he say now?
What will they do when she accepts?
When….
When was the last time she opened her eyes he wonders?
When was the last time she spoke with that mesmerising voice of hers?
When was the last time she had a smile adorned on her lovely face?
Where…
Where did he leave his heart again?
Where did she go all this time?
Where did he mess up, again and again?
Why….
Why did this happen to them?
Why did this not go according to plan?
Why did he think that he would never get the one he loves?
How….
How much longer does he need to wait?
How much further does he need to walk?
How much deeper can he fall in love?
Who, what, when, where, why. And How.
She was who he loved, what he loved. He loved her always, and everywhere. And why he loved, he does not know why. She was just the light, his light. And he wanted to love her with all his heart.
With everything.
2 years, 14 hours, 45 minutes and 11 seconds.
That's how long she was in the coma for.
Brave hearts do not give up. They do not tire, they do not complain.
Her heart was the bravest of all, the fiercest heart in his mind.
Fairy Tail creates fairy tales, it is where you find most happy endings in the saddest beginnings.
She was his princess, he was her prince.
That morning after the shooting star flew across the sky, the caressing spring wind brought life to the lands.
Life back to his arms.
"Jellal. Do you love me?"
"Always Erza, forever and ever. Let us share this eternal love."
