Yugioh! Zexal: Eternal Chosen
Chapter 14- Modernism

This is going to be a long chapter to write. Also, I keep messing his name up, but it is yamato2706, so I am sorry man. Also, in one of my previous chapters, I put "Burst Stream of Destruction" as Blue Eyes' English attack name, and it is actually "White Lightning", so forgive me about that. And, I've been told that I've been putting Zeke, instead of Keenan. But It IS Keenan, so forgive me for that too. Anyways, enjoy!

Last Time...

Keenan and Blake continued their duel with Kowari, dueling to save the Mayor's daughter, Mary. After winning, Kowari said he'd be back and disappeared.

Deep in you(The scene opens up to Keenan Serpentine, who's waking up and heading outside)

How to find the strength inside? (A shadowed figure, revealed the be Kalka, appears before the walking Keenan and Keenan activates his Duel Disk)

It challenges you

Taking all that you can find(Keenan is losing, but a Xavier, with a silhouetted warrior, appears in front of Keenan and puts its hand on Keenan's shoulder, giving him strength)

It's alright, trust in yourself

So come on, it's because you've come this far (Kalka disappears and Keenan and Xavier run forward)

It's waiting for you (A whirlwind strikes the ground in front of them, stopping them. Keenan looks behind him and sees Harper and Harpie Lady, behind her)

You must raise yourself above and touch the sky (Five shadowy figures then appear, stopping Keenan and his friends)

The dreams we see so far (Keenan imagines dueling a silhouetted woman and smiles)

Together makes us who we are (Harper and Xavier stand behind Keenan in support)

So don't let go, you know we're almost there(It begins to rain and Keenan, dueling the five figures, with an silhouetted beast-warrior in front of him, reaches for his Life Point counter, trying to give up. But another Blake appears and smiles, and points to the sky where a gigantic silhouetted machine appears and shot at the figures with its gun-like weapon)

I see you, endless gazing up to the sky, wondering why (Something causes Keenan to look up to the sky and an image of a woman smiling appears. A hand touches his shoulder and he looks back to see just a glimpse of a spirit of a woman before she disappears)

And you feel you can't go on, but you know this isn't the end (Keenan smiles and with his friends' support, he causes the five figures to disappear and the three continue to run)

So come on, it's a lie when shaking in fear(As they're running, a silhouette of a little kid with a silhouetted monster flying with her and a silhouetted boy with a silhouetted armored monster joins them, but the ground in front of them then rumbles and from it emerges Blue Eyes White Dragon, with Vestal, standing on top of it)

You're fooling yourself(Keenan gets knocked back, but his friends encourage him to get back up. Yamato, with Red Eyes Black Dragon, appears and begins fighting the silhouetted opponent. Keenan yells, and with Red Eyes' Black Dragon's support, the silhouetted figure disappears)

It is true you'll never run away from here(The seven friends continue to run and the sun comes out and they stop. Keenan draws the top card of his deck and raises it to the sky as a shadowed beast-warrior appears and he and his friends' monsters stand behind their respective owners)

"Sir. We have a problem." Rex said, looking around to see if anyone was looking. No one was. A hologram of Vince, covered, appeared. "What do you mean?"

"Blake Carson and Keenan dueled and they are proving to be a threat! We have to take them out! I'm sick of pretending to be their friends!"

"Take it easy Rex. Not yet."

"As much as I don't want him to, get Nocturnal to duel him."

"I might. But we still have that girl Harper's little brother. That plan's going to go into fruition very soon."

"Fine. I'm just tired of this!"

"Soon Rex. Report back if you gain any information."

"Yes sir." Rex pocketed his black crystal and turned around, only to see Harper standing there, arms folded and breasts resting on them. Rex's nose bled, but he quickly wiped it. "Hi Harper."

"Why are you always disappearing on us Rex?"

"What!? Um, I…no reason. Hey, where is everyone?"

"Xavier, Keenan and Blake went to class. I had to force Keenan and Xavier to though. But I don't know where Yamato is."

"Hey, um…how are you? You feeling better?"

"Yeah."

"So, about your brother. I'm sorry."

"Don't fret. It's that Kalka's fault."

"So, what are you going to do? Don't you have to join them to get Toby back?"

"…Yeah. I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to join them." Rex tensed up, taking on a joyful personality. "Really? You're going to join us-I mean, them?!"

"Um, yeah. You seem happy about that."

"Oh…no, no. I just mean, if I had a brother or sister, I'd do anything for them. I just wish you didn't have to join them."

"Yeah. Well, I'd do anything for my little brother. I'll see you later." Harper waved goodbye and headed to class. Rex took on a wicked smile. "Mission success." Rex wiped off his wicked smile and took on a faux smile. He then took off for class.

Far away from Heartland City, on a deserted island, a man, about 40, with long dirty brown hair and a long beard was walking around. It looked like he was tired and weakened. He sighed. "Another day stranded. It's been 10 years and still no one knows I've been missing. Well, I guess I better go find some wood. I'm running out." The man made his way to the forest to the spot where he usually went to find firewood. He looked at his spot where he stored the wood and frowned, not seeing any there. "I guess I better chop some more.

The man went over and grabbed the axe that was by a tree and started chopping some wood. Needing to do that for 10 years and other labor, the man, when he had to flex, showed some muscles. Not enormous, but big muscles. The man was chopping wood when he heard a horn; a boat horn. The man perked up. He dropped the axe and ran as fast as he could to the ocean. And there it was; a boat. More of a yacht, but nevertheless, a boat. "HEY! HEY! I'M HERE! I'M HERE! HELPPP!" The man yelled and waved. He did as loud and as fast as he could, faster now than 5 years ago since he grew some muscles. But to no avail; the yacht did not see or hear the man. It seemed the yacht was full of teenagers having a party. The man sighed in anger. "Teenagers…" He said with despise. He went back to chopping wood.

After getting enough firewood, the man climbed trees and got multiple coconuts. He took the coconuts and firewood and headed back to his tent he created. He made a fire and grabbed a deck of cards from his shelter and sat down. It was a deck of Duel Monsters cards. The top card was a picture of a dinosaur. Specifically a Xyz monster. He smiled. "Good thing I have my dueling deck. Without it, I don't know what I'd do."

The man shuffled his deck and placed it on the sand, drawing 5 cards. He drew a 6th card. The man started dueling, pretending to be battling an opponent.

After a while, the man smiled. "It's been so long since I've dueled someone. I hope my son is alright. He should be…18 now." Just then, the wood in his shelter acting as a bed broke. The man sighed. The man headed back into the forest to get more wood. While he was gathering wood, he heard another boat horn. But because he had heard so many boat horns and there was no use because none of them had heard or seen the man, the man didn't bother trying again. The man continued gathering wood until his eyes widened because he heard a voice.

"Kent! Mr. Kent! Are you here!? We're rescue!" The voice yelled. The man rushed out into the open to see a few rescue officers. He smiled. "You found me!" To the officers' surprise, the man hugged each one of them. The man started to cry. "Oh thank you! Thank you! I thought I'd die on this island!"

"Mr. Kent! Were you on that cruise ship when it sunk?!" One of the officers, the leader, asked.

"Yes. I swam for hours until I found this island. People followed me but died years ago. I'm the only one who survived."

"A lot of people survived. We didn't even think there was an island nearby. Are you sure you're the only one alive?"

"Yes."

"Well, there's someone here to see you. He says…he's your son." Mr. Kent gasped in shock, looking all around for his son. "Where is he!?" The leader motioned to one of the other officers and the officer went and got Mr. Kent's son. The son stood there in shock, barely recognizing his father. But tears starting rolling down the son's cheeks. "D-dad?"

"Y-yes son. I-I'm your father."

"Dad!" The son rushed for his father as the father rushed for the son. They two embraced and started crying. "I missed you so much dad!"

"Me too son! I'm so sorry for not being there for you!"

"I'm just glad I still have a parent!" Mr. Kent stepped back in confusion. "Phillip. What do you mean? What happened to your mother?"

"Well…she died in a car accident 3 years ago."

"She did!?"

"Y-yeah. She…she said if we ever found each other to tell you that she's sorry."

"Sorry?"

"Yeah. Sorry that she couldn't protect me anymore." Mr. Kent looked up at the sky and smiled. "It's okay baby. Thank you. I'll miss you."

"Dad, how did you survive all these years!? And you look different!"

"I'll tell you all about it later. So who have you been living with?"

"A foster care. But since you're back, you can get me, right?"

"Of course. Officers, I'm ready to leave." The chief nodded and everyone boarded the ship. Forgetting something, Mr. Kent ran back to his shelter and grabbed his deck and headed back to the boat. The boat then took off.

A couple of days later, Mr. Kent and his son, Phillip, headed to the library. The two entered, but Mr. Kent felt uneasy. "I don't know son. I haven't been around technology in 10 years."

"It'll be okay dad. Come on." The two headed to the desk and received a card. The two then headed to two computers, one for each. Phillip started on an assignment for school while Mr. Kent tried to figure out how to work the computer.

Over by the books, Xavier was grabbing books and putting them back. After reading a few pages of one book, he took it and went back to a table where Keenan was sitting, his head sitting on his arms, bored. "Look Keenan. I got a book."

"Yeah. This is boring. Books aren't my cup of tea."

"This book looks interesting. It's called Agent X. It's about-"

"Listen Xavier. Let's go pick up Yamato and duel or something."

"Keenan, you know I love reading books."

"But you know I don't. But you're my best friend, so I'll stay."

"Thanks pal." Xavier said with a smile.

Suddenly, a commotion started when people screamed. "Dad! Stop!" Phillip yelled.

"What's going on!?"

"I don't know. Let's go see." Keenan and Xavier headed over and saw Mr. Ken smashing a computer. "Dad! Stop it!" Phillip continued to yell.

"What's wrong with this computer!? It's not responding!"

"Sir, you need to stop!" An officer ordered. But Mr. Kent lifted the computer and threw it to the ground, destroying it. As a result, the officer grabbed Mr. Kent and arrested him. "Wait! Stop!" Phillip cried out.

"He's going to jail!"

"Hold on please." Xavier said walking up.

"Who are you?" The officer asked.

"I'm Xavier. Aren't you one of the people who were on the news? One of the people who said was supposedly killed when a cruise ship sunk?"

"Yeah. I spent 10 years on an island!"

"Without technology…right? I don't know how that feels."

"Then stay out of people's business!"

"Okay, you're coming with me!" The officer yelled.

"Hold on." Xavier looked at Mr. Kent's pocket and noticed something square-like shaped in it. He smiled. "Sir, that wouldn't happen to be a dueling deck in your pocket, would it?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"I challenge you to a duel!" Mr. Kent, Phillip and Keenan were surprised. "Xavier, what are you doing!?" Keenan asked.

"Not sure yet. So, sir?"

"What's in it for me?"

"If you win, you don't go to jail. If I win, you still don't. I know you don't mean to make a commotion."

"…Okay. But I'll use a table."

"Hold on." A voice said. Everyone turned to see a kid with glasses, armed with a Duel Disk. He was probably 16. Seeing that his glasses were falling off his face, he pushed them back up with his finger. "Who are you?" Xavier asked. The kid smiled. "Can I duel?" Xavier looked at the kid. He saw that he was confident. Actually, very confident. Xavier smiled. "Not sure why you want to, but as long as someone does."

"Cool. I appreciate it." Mr. Kent went and sat at a table and set up his deck while the kid activated his Duel Disk. He donned his Duel Gazer while Mr. Kent looked on in confusion. "Hey, what are you putting on? Let's duel."

"Dad, here." Phillip threw his dad a gazer and he put it on, with the help of his son and Phillip put on another one. Keenan, Xavier and the officer put theirs on and the Augmented Reality was set. Everyone else disappeared. "Augmented Reality Vision Link established."

Mr. Kent: 4000
Kid: 4000

"DUEL!" The two yelled. They drew 5 cards.

"Can I start off?" Mr. Kent asked. The kid motioned 'yes' and Mr. Kent drew a card. "I Normal Summon Black Veloci(LV 4) in Attack Position." A purple dinosaur with purple feathers on its arms, sharp teeth along the back of its head, neck and upper back, and mouth appeared. (ATK: 1800/DEF: 300)

"I set 1 card and end my turn." A card appeared behind the purple dinosaur. The kid looked at the summoned monster with a smile. He pushed his glasses back up his face. "Interesting. Not only is it a dinosaur, but its Black Veloci." The kid looked at his hand to see if he had anything to counter what he believed to be a good combo. Smiling, signifying that he did have a combo, he drew a card.

"Okay, I know your plan. I Special Summon Cyber Dragon(LV 5) in Attack Position." A large, mechanical dragon with a long mechanical tail appeared. It roared, scaring some of the spectators but not either of the duelists, Xavier, the officer or Keenan. (ATK: 2100/DEF: 1600)

"Because you control a monster, I could summon this beast. But my plan isn't done. I'm not quite sure what your face-down is, but I know it'll hinder my victory. Next I Normal Summon A-Team: Trap Disposal Unit(LV 2)." A group of men wearing different colored spandex suits and hard hats appeared. (ATK: 300/DEF: 400)

"The set-up's complete. Cyber Dragon, attack Black Veloci! And when its attacked, it loses 400 ATK." Mr. Kent smiled. "I might have been stranded for 10 years, but I'm still pretty darn good at dueling. I activate Reverse Trap; this card reverses all increases and decreases to monsters this turn." Keenan looked on with a smile. "That was a good move. That machine kid isn't doing well."

"Well, it's a battle of the stone age and the modern age. It's really the battle of the ages. I've always wondered who'd win. And considering what's about to happen, I think machines have a 1-up."

"Whaaat!? That old guy led that kid right into it!" Knowing Keenan a long time, Xavier knew Keenan didn't see the move to its whole purpose. Keenan didn't understand why a duelist does what the duelist does, but Xavier does. In fact, he smiled when Trap Disposal Unit rushed over to Reverse Trap and destroyed it like they were working on a construction site and then disappeared. It surprised Mr. Kent and Keenan. "Wait a minute! What happened to my Trap!?" Mr. Kent asked. The kid pushed his glasses up again before explaining. "It's just the power of the future. I used Disposal Unit to stop your trap. Machines have a lot of potential. They're evolving every year."

"That's why I hate technology. It's a hindrance to me."

"So is that why you have dinosaurs?"

"They're fierce and don't hinder you."

"Your Black Veloci sure is one. Now you lose this battle." Cyber Dragon blasted Black Veloci, weakened, and destroyed it.

Mr. Kent: 3300

"I set 2 cards and end my turn." 2 cards appeared. Mr. Kent drew a card, smiled, threw 2 cards face-down and ended his turn. The kid drew a card and smiled. "First, I activate my face-down, Cyber Summon Blaster." A large mechanical blaster appeared. "I Normal Summon Patrol Robo(LV 3). Let's get to patrolling!" A reddish orange robot with a brown mechanical head with a single eye appeared. It had an axe and drill for arms and wheels for feet. (ATK: 1100/DEF: 900)

Mr. Kent smiled. He was waiting for this moment: the moment where his opponent summoned a monster. With the kid's face-down known, Mr. Kent didn't have to worry about one of his own Traps being negated. One of his Traps rose. A torrential of water appeared and washed away Cyber Dragon and Patrol Robo, destroying them. Because of the water barrage, a couple of the aisles were full of wet books. Keenan looked down and jumped on Xavier. "What are you doing!?" Xavier squealed. "There's water!" Xavier threw Keenan to the floor. "Dude, you won't get wet."

"Oh…right." Keenan laughed embarrassedly. The kid pushed his glasses back onto his face and grabbed a card and played it. The Spell, Monster Reborn appeared. Cyber Dragon reappeared. Cyber Summon Blaster charged up and blasted Mr. Kent, causing him to almost fall out of his chair. But he managed to maintain his balance and prevent falling.

Mr. Kent: 3000

"When a Machine-Type monster is Special Summoned, you get blasted for 300 smack-a-roos. Cyber Dragon, your turn to strike!" Cyber Dragon charged a ball of blue energy and shot it at Mr. Kent. But he smiled as he flipped over his other Trap card. "Welcome the return of dinosaurs! Fossil Evacuation! Of all the Trap cards in my deck, this is my favorite."

"Really? Of all your Traps? Care to explain why?"

"Because I discard 1 card and any dinosaur I want is summoned. Even the one I just discarded. Return and tear through these machines!" A large brown dinosaur with long spikes as hair appeared and roared. Ultimate Tyranno was so large; it broke through the ceiling in the library. (ATK: 3000/DEF: 2200)

"With power like that, I don't know why the dinosaurs are extinct." Keenan said. He looked up at the large dinosaur and gulped. Xavier rolled his eyes. "You're something Keenan."

"I end my turn." The kid said. A card appeared. Mr. Kent drew a card. "I summon Kabazula(LV 4) in Attack Position." A purple dinosaur appeared and roared. (ATK: 1700/DEF: 1500)

"Ultimate Tyranno, attack Cyber Dragon!" Ultimate Tyranno swung its tail at the latter. But the kid was ready. He pushed up his glasses and pressed a button on his Duel Disk, causing his face-down to rise. It was a card with a picture of a little winged devil. "You set off Skull Dice. Your Ultimate Tyranno loses ATK equal to 100x the result of the die I'm about to roll." The winged devil threw the large red he was holding. It fell to the ground and started to spin. Everyone stared at the die, each wondering what the result would be. "If my luck is good, I'll get a 6, meaning your dinosaur will lose 600 ATK and I won't lose as much damage." The die started to slow down and eventually landed on a number. Everyone groaned, except for Mr. Kent. The kid just pushed his glasses back up. "A 3? So close. Still, your monster loses 300 ATK." Ultimate Tyranno, weakened but still strong enough, swung its tail at Cyber Dragon, destroying it.

Kid: 3800

"Why not destroy Patrol Robo?" The kid asked, actually not knowing why his Cyber Dragon was destroyed.

"I know Cyber Dragon has powerful fusions. Couldn't take that risk."

"Even being 10 years away from society, you still know the cards. You done?"

"I set 1 card and end my turn." A card appeared. The kid drew a card. Then a searchlight shot from Patrol Robo's eye and raised Mr. Kent's face-down. It was revealed to be Big Evolution Pill. "Ooh, that can be a problem. I can't stop it, but I can protect myself. But first, I send Robo to the graveyard to Tribute Summon Blowback Dragon(LV 6)." The robot disappeared and a mechanical dragon appeared. Its neck and head was in the shape of a pistol. The dragon roared. (ATK: 2300/DEF: 1200)

Xavier whistled with a tone of amazement. Xavier thought back to when he faced a Blowback Dragon. He smiled. "It can be powerful."

"What do u mean Xavier?" Keenan asked.

"Well, Blowback Dragon gives you 3 coin tosses. If you get two heads, a monster is destroyed. It seems he's running a machine deck with a touch of luck."

"You think he has good luck?"

"Don't know. We'll see."

"Machines are helpful. They allow us to evolve. But someone stuck in the Stone Age wouldn't understand right?" The kid asked, the latter part in an angry tone. "Anyways, Blowback Dragon lets me flip a coin 3 times. Its effect depends on the results." Suddenly, a holographic coin appeared and was flipped into the air. It landed on the floor; the result tails. "Tails. Okay, second flip." The same holographic coin was flipped again into the air. Seconds later, it landed again; this time the result being heads. The kid smiled. "Nice. Now a third time." For the last time, the coin was flipped into the air. When it landed and the result was shown, the kid pushed up his glasses with a smirk. "Since two of the three flips were heads, your Ultimate Tyranno is destroyed." Blowback Dragon charged up his pistol-shaped head and shot Ultimate Tyranno, causing it to fall into many of the bookshelves and destroy them before shattering.

"And the cool thing is that I can still attack. Attack Kabazula!" Blowback Dragon charged up his pistol head again and shot the latter, destroying it; the explosion knocking Mr. Kent out of his seat. "Ahhh!"

Mr. Kent: 2400

"Not the same way, but extinction is extinction."

"It seems that kid doesn't like dinosaurs, doesn't it Xavier?" Keenan said. Xavier nodded his head, telling Keenan he agreed. They looked back at the duel and saw Mr. Kent get back up into his seat and take his turn. He drew a card and summoned a monster; a baby dinosaur in an egg. But it disappeared when Mr. Kent's face-down rose. Then a large, much larger black skinned, ferocious dinosaur appeared. It roared. (ATK: 2600/DEF: 1800)

The kid whistled, amazed by the powerful monster just summoned. In fact, the kid knew all about Black Tyranno. "I'll only lose 300 Life Points if you attack sir."

"I use Stop Attack to switch your monster to Defense Position." The kid was shocked as Blowback Dragon kneeled and shielded itself. He knew Black Tyranno's ability but didn't expect it to be used. Mr. Kent ordered his dinosaur on a rampage. It swung its tail at the kid, due to his monster being in Defense Position. The kid was knocked back into the counter behind him, letting out a loud yelp.

"Is he okay?!" Keenan worried. Answering his question without replying verbally, the kid got up. He then drew a card. "I…I activate Spellbook Inside the Pot. This allows us both to draw 3 cards." Both males drew 3 cards and the kid played another one, drawing two more cards. "Everything's set. I activate Polymerization. We all know what this does. I fuse Dimension Jar and Molten Zombie to Fusion Summon Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird(LV 8) in Attack Position." The two monsters fused and a mechanical man on fire with large mechanical wings appeared. It's flaming hair was the neck of a flaming phoenix's head. (ATK: 2800/DEF: 2300)

Blaze Fenix was big enough for its flames to catch the books on fire, causing the employees to rush for the fire extinguishers. While that was happening, the kid continued. "I could use this beast's ability, but it'd just waste time since I'm just going to tribute him." Surprised to hear that the kid is going to give up a powerful monster, Xavier asked him, "Hey! Who are you!?" The kid turned to him but just as quick turned back. "Are you working with Kalka!?" Keenan narrowed his eyes at the sound of that. "Answer him!" Keenan yelled. But the kid didn't. Instead, he sacrificed his monster for another one. This one was a bulky machine with twisted horns, a bear claw on its left side, bulky arms, no legs, and a baby machine creature controlling it. (ATK: 2450/DEF: 2050)

"Now why did I summon Evilswarm Coppelia when it's weaker than my previous monster? I'll show you. Coppelia, attack Black Tyranno!" Coppeila rushed towards Black Tyranno, readying its punch. But Black Tyranno swung its tail quicker and destroyed the former. But the baby machine controlling it survived and jumped on Black Tyranno, bringing it over to the kid.

Kid: 3650

"That's why." Xavier said to himself. But Keenan managed to hear it. "What's wrong Xavier?"

"That's why he sacrificed Blaze Fenix. He needed Black Tyranno. He's good." Keenan looked on in awe as the kid ordered Black Tyranno to attack. Black Tyranno swiped his tail at Mr. Kent, again knocking him out of his chair.

Mr. Kent: 0
The kid: 3650

The Augmented Reality disappeared and the library returned to normal, the floors dry, the shelves fixed and the fire extinguished. Phillip ran to his father's side. "Dad! Are you okay?!"

"Y-yeah."

"Okay, you're coming with me!" The police officer yelled. "Wait! Don't! Don't take my dad away! I just got him back!" Phillip pleaded.

"I'm sorry, but he broke a computer. He's coming with me!"

"Wait, what if he just pays for it?" The kid asked. The officer looked at the kid as he was pushing his glasses back onto his face. But the officer could still see his eyes and saw someone who just liked to help. The officer sighed. "I'll turn the other way this time. But if I see u committing another crime, it's off to jail!"

"How much does he have to pay officer?" Phillip asked.

"The computer is $800 and you are not allowed to come back to this library except to pay for the damages."

"Yes sir. Come on dad." Phillip helped his father up and the two left the library and everyone basically returned to their activities, except for the kid, Keenan and Xavier. The kid was about to leave when Xavier stopped him. "Hey! What was all that about? Why take my place? Are you working with Kalka!?"

"Kalka? I don't know who that is." The kid was then surprised as he was instantly lifted up by his collar by Keenan. "Listen! You better tell us if you're working with Kalka! My friend got hurt because of him!" The kid switched to a defensive status. He put his hands up. "I don't know anything! I really don't! I don't know this Kalka person! Seriously!"

"Okay Keenan. Put him down." Keenan did and sighed. "Sorry. I'm just upset. We didn't know why you wanted to take Xavier's place. I thought you had bad intentions. Sorry."

"It's quite alright." The kid said pushing his glasses up. "Look, I got to go. Bye." The kid waved and took off. The two friends looked at each other in confusion.
