The screeching of tires is what catches the attention of the nurses standing in the emergency department which was followed by yells of help coming from none other than Jason DiLaurentis who has stormed into the ER carrying an unconscious female later noted to be Aria Montgomery. The nurses and doctor rush to her and put her on a stretcher and is whisked away to be cared for. Jason is left standing there in a trance permanently frozen to the spot like misplaced furniture unsure of what to do or where to go. He remains there until a nurse comes and escorts him to the waiting room and takes the relevant information about Aria from him while trying to console the panicked man. The nurse leaves him off in a hurry while Jason is just there seated with his hands clasped together, shirt in disarray and staring blankly into cream colored hospital wall.

10…20…..30….40….50…..60….70….80…90..minutes pass …

That is the position Jason remains in for another hour and a half not even moving an inch the only things telling you he is alive is the rapid up and down movements of his chest and how his eyes flutter towards the room Aria is in waiting for news. He is the picture of a broken man, his phone keeps buzzing and he doesn't even look at it. It is as if he doesn't even hear it. It is when Ella comes in and starts asking what happened is when Jason breaks out of his trance and regains some normalcy in his behavior. Ella doesn't spend long with Jason though as soon as she is finished speaking to him she goes to the front desk and takes off down the hall to the room where Aria is in with her doctor. Ella emerges sometime later and makes a beeline for Jason and the only thing she says is "she is asking to see you" and Ella reassuring places her hand on Jason's back and they both proceed back towards the room.

Jason's POV

The passageway to Aria's room seems to be an everlasting walk. I know in reality it is a pretty short walk but in my panicked mind everything seems to be going at an extremely slow pace. I feels as if I am on autopilot as sub-consciously walk to her room. With every negative outcome for this situation racing through my mind making me feel wired and anxious which I haven't felt since my withdrawal days. Even my tie feels like its choking me and its hanging loosely around my neck and my skin just itches/crawls just thinking about what could have happened. The world around me is blurred out as if I have tunnel vision just from the panic. I am so caught up in my world of thoughts that when Ella stops I nearly walk into her .Finally after an eternity we have reached the room. Without asking any questions I make a beeline towards the room completely ignoring the doctors standing outside of her door possibly discussing her condition.

At the sound of the door opening Aria turns her head and when she sees it's me she begins smiling from ear to ear. She motions for me to sit and I go to sit in the chair when I see her shaking her head saying no and she pats a spot beside her on the bed. She then uses her hand to stroke my cheek and as I open my mouth to ask her the question she reads my mind and responds " I'm okay, Jace" while looking me sincerely in the eyes. I believe her but the sceptic in me insists of asking again just to be safe, "Are you sure you're okay? What did the doctors say?" I ask.

"I am fine, Jason" She reiterates but there is this feeling that I can't shake that something is off especially because she keeps saying I and we. "The doctor's aren't sure as to what happened as yet as they are waiting on the test results and they don't know if the baby is fine" She tears up at the end of that sentence and I can't help but hug, give her a chaste kiss and tell her everything is going to be alright as we wait for the diagnosis. Both of us secretly fearing that our miracle baby is no more.

3rd POV

Hours later the doctor enters Aria's room and his entrance awakens her and Jason from their nap. Jason immediately gets off the bed and goes to sit in the chair out of decency while still being close enough to touch Aria. Whereas, Aria has an unreadable facial expression and Ella sits in the opposing chair fidgeting with her foot.

The doctor whose name tag says Khristian Sawyer stands at the foot of Aria's bed and breaks the deafening silence in the room as all its occupants wait with anxiety for his findings.

"Well Ms Montgomery I am relieved to say that your test results came back and showed the reason for your blackout was severe dehydration due to Hyperemesis gravidarum." This is just a complication of pregnancy which causes severe vomiting, nausea and dehydration to combat this I have on intravenous fluids and will prescribe medication for you to take upon discharge. However I would like to keep you overnight for observation" Dr Sawyer informs the nervous couple who are again holding hands.

It is Aria who utters out in in a tiny voice "What about my baby?"

"The baby's condition is unknown for now however I have scheduled you for an ultrasound which will take place right after I leave the room. However I have some concerns about your blood test which showed extremely high levels of HCG which is the pregnancy hormone. However further testing will be performed to see what is the direct cause.

The rest of the doctor's words after he said the word unknown is lost to the environment as all Jason and Aria hear is the baby might be dead and nothing else. Panic reflects in both their eyes as the doctor continues to explain what is to occur and gives Aria the necessary documents to sign and answer questions from Ella before he exits the room. Aria just sits there shell shocked staring into space presumably blaming herself for what has transpired. As she believes a mother should always know when something is wrong with her child and herself.

Jason squeezes her hand and says "It isn't your fault Ri, you couldn't have known; Please don't blame yourself for this"

Nothing is said by anyone as the ultrasonographer comes in and prepares both Aria and the machine for the procedure. She warns Aria that the gel will be cold and Aria just nods her head in a trance like state.

Everyone watches with bated breath as the sonographer moves the wand over Aria's tummy in search of a heartbeat. She moves her hand from left to right until the thumping of a heartbeat echoes in the room.

"There's your baby and he/she's strong heartbeat, congratulations" the sonographer says. Gradually sighs of relief can be heard as the heartbeat confirms what everyone wanted to hear: The baby is fine. Smiles begin to form over Jason and Aria's face as the comfort each other with a reassuring hand squeeze and Ella gleefully stares at the monitor in awe. The happiness is clouded by the quizzical look on the technologists face as she moves the ultrasound wand further over to the left in search of an answer and she gets the answer as a second strong thumping is heard in the room and she reechoes her previous statement, " I do believe double congratulations are in order as you're having twins"

Author's Note: I am so sorry if this chapter isn't up to par and for not writing or updating in a long time. Truly sorry as university has caught up with me and I have little or no time. However I will keep trying to update and as usual leave a comment below as I love hearing your thoughts.
