There were times that Sky thought she could understand why people could hate so completely. The relief it must be for them, to lay all their burdens on but one

word. She thought that maybe, sometimes, she could hate. Such as now, as she stood in the chilled waters staring up at the blood red eyes of the blond

vampire beckoning her over. Jane had no reason to hate the Cullens, or the pack. It seemed she just derived some pleasure from taunting and goading them.

Trying to harm them. Her power in it's self, left a bad taste in her mouth. The power to cause pain.

"I don't have all day little girl." Jane hissed

"No." Sky answered in a level voice. "You have eternity."

The comment only earned an eye roll from the Volturri lap dog. When her feet hit the solid soil of the bank, leaving the packs territory, she chanced a glance into

those eyes.

"I'm not going to hold back, you challenged me." Jane's voice felt chilled as it caressed her skin. Filled with malice and discontent.

"The same for you." She whispered back, staring her head on in a level glare.

Jane's glare hardened, then widened. Sky wanted to chuckle, but remained poised almost nonchalantly.

"Figures a freak like you would have an out." Jane murmured out an insult, but Sky could sense the displeasure in her voice.

"My apologies dear Jane, I fear this battle will take longer than you had hoped." no sooner had she said it, Jane pounced. Her anger made her sloppy,

something Sky took advantage of, easily maneuvering to the side. swipe after swipe, she dodged, ducked, and maneuvered. She could all but feel the vampires

ire begin to rise to dangerous levels. Sky knew that she would never tire, but she also know that she would sooner or later, falter in her step. Jasper had

taught her very well indeed, for soon Jane did just that, leaving an opportunity open and Sky took it. Landing a cracking blow to the side of her face before

grasping her firmly by the neck. While Jane did not need to breathe it served to level her gaze with Sky's.

"Poor Jane, so dependent on that gaze, so self assured. So silly. You never learned combat, but I did. I don't need just these eyes." Jane looked more

perplexed, all but asking what Sky meant. Sky in turn obliged, her depths weaving an eternity into Janes mind. An eternity of self loathing, of being hated, of

being betrayed, of Her precious kings abandoning her when Aro lost interest. As Jane stared her hair lost it's already pale pigment, her eyes began to crack,

her skin began to crumble, yet she stared on, unable to blink. She wanted to scream, to cry, to make it all end, and it did, within seconds of being held in that

gaze, it all changed. She saw truth, she saw love, she saw light, friendship, beauty, she saw life, and it made her weep. Dry cracking sobs. Her hair not only

returned in color, it returned in vibrate golds, her eyes shifting from cracked red to a moist blue, her cheeks flushed, and for a moment she could swear she

heard her heart, just once, just a tiny thump against her chest. The series of gasps from across the river let her know that it wasn't just in her mind, her heart

had beat, but all to soon it faded back. Back to red eyes, back to marble skin, back to pale hair. The cracks were gone, the damage undone, but the sadness

remained.

"What did you show me? Was it the future? Was it..." She stammered before composing herself. "Release me... You... Release me." She wanted to say filth, it

lingered on her tongue, all the insults, but she Couldn't, she just couldn't.

"I don't know what you saw Jane, I never do, it's all in your own mind, I can only open the door to your worst nightmares, or to your wildest dreams, and make

you live them a thousand times over." Sky whispered before releasing and walking back across the river.

"Go home Jane" She spoke without turning around. Jane watched her leave. She didn't know what to say... Thank you?

************Authors note.*******************

Wow, lol, That first go around was pretty rough. I don't have word anymore. I know some people may be thinking of Sky as a Mary Sue but in the books Jane

wasn't a fighter, she relied on her power as her offense and defense. Sky visits the Cullen's all the time. So Learning from Jasper is a given. I couldn't make

her a simmering wimp as much as I don't want her to be a Mary Sue either. Reviews are always welcome, constructive criticism is appreciated and well accepted.
