"Man Ab-telitha?"

It was perhaps the single most devastating moment in Legede's long years. He stood upon the plains of the Dagorlad, his ears privy to a sudden roar more ferocious than any Orc or Troll or foul concoction of the enemy. The very ground upon which he trod shook mercilessly as the great flightless wyrm pounded it's claws into the earth, digging up soil and rock and the corpses that littered the field of battle.
Their enemy had unleashed a dragon.

Blue eyes watched in horror as their allies stayed, rooted to their respective camps, as the beast approached, descending upon the forces of the Greenwood's Silvan Elves. Those brave souls charged alone, a rallying cry from their king spurring them into action and banishing the fear which stole over the hearts of their comrades. Legede cursed the Noldo who stood and did nothing... cursed the Sinda who followed the lords of Lorien and Imladris... and he cursed the men who waited upon the hill breathless before the mighty power of the drake.
Such thoughts of hatred and those curses left his mind and lips as he saw his king and youngest son charging straight through the ranks, giving their warriors courage where there was none to be found. The white-haired Silvan Elf soon had his hands full however as wave after wave or Orc poured over the dead, slashing and ripping into anything that resembled soft flesh... even their own.

Pushing forward, the stench of battle ripe with each breath, Legede struggled to return to his lord's side. He could see the dark hair of Galenion, free of the leather tie which had held it back, flying in melee as he twirled, wielding sword and dagger alike. His style... so very different from that of his younger brother. But then again, such violence, such unrelenting blood lust, was always easy for the eldest of Oropher to give in to. His eyes returning to the forms he desperately wished to reunite with, Legede could see the blond hair of Thranduil, second prince, his twin swords gleaming in the dim sun which covered such grey blood-soaked lands. Thranduil moved with such a grace that it was nigh impossible to tell he was related to his elder brother. Few, Legede knew, could move and fight with such beauty... a beauty not even Oropher in his most triumphant hour could have ever attained.
Thranduil was beside his father as the battle raged on around them. Enemy after enemy fell before their blades, and before Legede's own. The Captain of the Greenwood would not let his liege stand alone this day, though their kin may have forsaken them.

Then, with a mighty roar, the battlefield erupted into fire and ash. So swift had it come that none could escape it. The flames consumed Oropher, King of the Greenwood, and the second prince, Thranduil... and Legede could do naught but watch his world and all that he loved in it, burn.

Author's Notes:
- Sindarin isn't going to be 100% accurate because I'm still learning. I suck at syntax. Please forgive me. Sources include David Salo's "A Gateway to Sindarin" (ISBN: 0-87480-800-6) and Parf Edhellen (elfdict dot com)
- Because these are tiny drabbles, I will NOT be doing Muse Moments for each chapter.
- I was inspired to do these by Nyx Thranduilion who is also doing them. The original 100-drabbles challenge is the invention of NirCele.
- All 100 of my drabbles will be Thranduil related... WEEE!
- None of my drabbles will be in any sort of order.
