May: Sorry I forgot! This was supposed to be last Thursday and I was hit by lazines...so...yeah. Anyways, enjoy!
Chapter 13
"I see." Mahad mused then nodded his head at Mana. "I will talk to Ushio later about his attitude."
He then took a seat behind his desk and began sifting through the documents on his table.
Mana let out a sigh before speaking. She knew that she have to tell the older somehow. She felt something was off with the vizier when she met him in the hallway awhile ago.
Yep. Something was definitely was off.
She let out a sigh then spoke. "I saw Vizier Siamun awhile ago."
The headmaster looked up at her from his papers, a questionable look on his face. "And?"
"He seems to be acting...weirdly." she replied sheepishly as it was no doubt forbidden to speak of the older in such a manner. He is the second highest official next to the Pharaoh if not anything else.
And to do so would earn the ire of the entire court.
"What do you mean?" Mahad asked as he leaned back on his chair, his eyes looking at her intently.
"I just...felt it." she answered.
Mahad looked at her for full minute then let out a tired sigh. "Mana, we have no time for such."
"I'm not kidding!" she insisted, her hands clenched at her sides. Then she slowly deflated, realizing whom she was talking to. "I'm sorry, master."
"There's nothing to apologize for." he told her as he put a hand on his forehead. "Although, Mana..."
She sprung into attention. 'Yes, master?"
He gave her a hard look but she could see the emotion behind his indigo eyes: emotions that were easy to see if one would look pass his strict nature.
Emotions such of deep sadness and...and a little bit of fear.
"You would do well to hide your opinions to yourself for the timebeing," he told her. "I may be the headmaster, but there are certain things that I don't have power over. Understood?"
She nodded. "I understand," she murnured.
"Good." he said then let out a tired sigh. "You may go...but please send Ushio to me would you?"
She nodded weakly then quietly left the room, closing the door after her.
Leaving him to his thoughts.
Yami winced as a cotton dipped in a salve was pressed to his cheek gently but firnly by a green eyed ebony haired woman who had introduced herself as Aishishu awhile ago.
Who was a supposed member of the Pharaoh's Sacred Guardians-whatever that means if the prince hadn't died in the accident.
And now she works as a palace physician in and out of the palace wherever her services is needed.
"You must be careful from now on." Aishishu chastised as she retreated her hand which held the cotton. "You don't know what Ushio is capable of doing with somebody of your stature."
Yami scowled at that. He knows he was short-the boys back home have told him for as many years as he could remember, does it have to be implied here too?
The older woman smiled at him as she straightened up. "I don't mean what I think you mean, Yami.'" Her face turned grim. "It's just that I hate to see students who exude so much potential to rise is beaten for just their station in life."
"Yeah!" Marik piped from his sit on the bed beside Yami's. "Yami could have landed a few good punches if Seto didn't appear there and ruined his chance!"
She smiled at the prince's remark of their prince in training. It's not everyday that she would hear someone say something good about Seto...always some insult one way or another.
But she couldn't stop a chuckle to escape her lips as she contained her laughter. "I know, Marik." She then turned her eyes on Yami. "Now, Yami. Be careful." she told him as she gave him the Look.
The Look which have resulted into many students taking her advices very seriously. If they wanted to be able to graduate without wearing clutches.
"I don't want you coming back here battered and bruised, alright?"
Yami nodded then a slow smirk made its way across his face. "Yes, you could count on that."
Beside Marik, Ryou let out a sigh. "Somehow I doubt that..." he muttered.
"Good." the older woman nodded her in agreement. 'You may go. But..." she said as she handed an ice pack towards Yami who took it reluctantly. "Keep this on your face for the timebeing."
"Thank you." the crimson eyed teen said as he accepted the bag and immediately placed it on the bruise on his cheek. "I appreciate it."
"Go now, boys."
Nodding their thanks, the three boys left the infirmary.
"Don't let what Lord Akhenaden said bug you." Marik said to Yami as they walked in the dining hall. "Legend has it that he is a monster that came from the deepest darkest pit of the Shadow Realm."
They laughed as they took a seat at the farthest side of the room. Obvious to the eyes of the other students watching them, especially Yami since his 'incident' had quickly spread throughout the student body.
There's no doubt rumors circulating about him, but Yami doesn"t care. All he cared about was graduating and giving his younger brother the life he was supposed to have.
He laughed along with Ryou good-naturedly as Marik tried-keyword tried to uplift his mood by telling a rather ridiculous story about his childhood in his home country with his pet cheetah.
Unbeknownst to him, icy blue eyes were intent on him the whole time he was there.
Seto looked at Yami with an expressionless gaze on his face then a slow smirk made its way across his face as he thought of a plan in his head. But first he needed someone to fool.
He scanned the room and to his surprise found a pointy-haired youth-what's his name? Honda. Well, he would be perfect for his little plot.
Honda was the son of a noble from the country of Japan, although he was of noble blood, none of the students seemed to make friends with him, except of course for the emeral eyed boy sitting across from him.
And didn't expect Seto-Seto Kaiba of all people, the son of a famous billionaire and heir to the throne- to sit with him when Otogi had mysteriously taken a flu and exited the room.
Seto didn't like sitting with people he considered below him but for his plan to commence, he needed to someone to fill in the role he was hoping that this boy could pull of without his involvement if someone were to ask.
"You know what disgusts me, Honda?" he started as a way of conversation as he looked at the boy across from him.
"Your huge ego?" Honda suggested as he turned to look at the food infront of him instead of the brunette.
Seto inwardly gritted his teeth at the insult then continued. "When a commoner like Yami comes to Prince Charming Academy." He added as he waved a dismissive hand. "He makes us less special."
And with a sly had took the slice of chocolate cake from the other's tray. "You know...specialness is like this cake. If Yami takes a huge chunk of it." And using his fork he took a small portion and ate it.
"What's left for us?" he asked the other, doing a good impression of someone who had been deprived all his life.
"You stole my cake!" Honda protested.
"Not me." Seto shrugged as he placed the plate down. "Yami did."
Honda looked at Yami at the corner of his eye with a devilish look. No one gets away with eating his food without his knowledge. "How dare he? I wanted that cake."
Seto smirked inwardly as his plan had pulled through. "Don't worry..." he sarcastically assured the other without giving anything. "He won't be stealing cake much longer."
Using his knowledge of shadow magic, the soon to be prince summoned a particular shadow monster and ordered him to do something which no doubt would definitely and hopefully humiliate his rival.
Yami looked at Marik and Ryou. "Ready?" he asked the two who had already finished eating.
The two princes nodded and the crimson eyed teen stood up and started to walk-not noticing that he had pulled the tablecloth with him, resulting to their plates and cutlery to fall to the polished floor with a loud clatter resounding through the huge room.
Ryou and Marik let out a horrified gasp as they saw the mess on the floor. And the whole room was suddenly aroused with laughter aimed at the crimson eyed teen who looked for the first time since they knew him-utterly embarassed and the worse, humiliated.
Yami was in his defense was oblivious to what the laughter was all about and that was when he looked down and noticed that a part of the tablecloth was somehow tucked at the belt around his waist.
And that he brought down their plates and their trays on the floor.
It didn't take him long enough to figure out that they were laughing at him. His eyes widened as he took a step back as he knew that they were enjoying it. His eyes then trained on icy blue ones who was without giving anything up was enjoying his discomfort.
He was about to say something to the teen but his words were halted in his throat as he looked around him.
But the toll of others laughing at him broke him down and shoulders bent, his head bowed, he swiftly removed the tablecloth off his belt and looked at his friends-eyes downcast.
"I've got to go." He murmured then ran out of the room, Ryou and Marik watching him as he left the room, with helpless looks on their faces.
Lord Akhenaden let out a laugh as he no doubt had seen the entire scene while Headmaster Mahad stood beside him, frowning at the events that had unfolded before him.
He have a sneaking suspicion that it was planned...but by whom?
At his table, a smirk made its way across Seto's features as his shadow monster, Dark Clown came back to him no doubt successful and with a wave of his hand had willed the monster to disappear.
No one messes with him. Not until they can get away with it.
May: Sorry for all Yami fans...but I have to do this for the sake of the plot of the story. Hope you will forgive me! I never really wanted this to happen...not really...no.
