IMPORTANT A/N:
Hey guys! I've recently gotten a burst of inspiration for this story so that's why I am posting this a day after chapter 13! Thank you guys so much for reviewing and encouraging me to keep writing this story, it means the world to me. I read every single one of your reviews and it makes me so happy! Although I would like to clarify one thing that I read in a review. THIS STORY IS NOT CANON. I'm not sure if a lot of you thought it was but my story won't have any of the canon pairings aside from Lily/James and the obvious ones like Molly/Arthur. Also, my sequel story to this story that I am planning to write will not make the story anymore canon than it is now because that story is going to change the timeline for Lily and James to live and non of the pairings in that story will be canon either. Sorry for any misunderstandings and I hope you keep reading. Please enjoy this chapter!

Catherine followed Lily while being as quiet as she could. She saw Lily stop in front of the Ravenclaw Tower and wait.
A boy in a Ravenclaw uniform walked up to Lily and asked her why she was there. He was probably a third year. Catherine leaned in closer from the stone pillar she was hiding behind to hear Lily's response.
"I'm looking for someone. Could you help me get Daniel Murray? He's a seventh year like me."
The boy nodded and turned to the door. He knocked on the door with the eagle knocker and Catherine almost fell over when the eagle spoke.
Brothers and sisters I have none but this man's father is my father's son. Who is this man?
The boy looked stumped and shook his head. He slumped onto the floor and just sat there. Lily looked puzzled.
"What are you doing? I thought you were going to go in." She asked politely.
He looked up at her as if she were stupid. "I guess you don't know the way the Ravenclaw tower works. The eagle asks a riddle and you have to answer it correctly to get in."
Lily's face went blank. "Well then what if you don't know the answer?"
The boy shrugged. "Then you can't get in until another person comes and answers it."
"Wow. If that's how it is, can't anyone from any house get in?"
The boy gestured to the door. "Your welcome to try. I just want to go to bed."
Lily nodded and turned to the door. She knocked and the eagle spoke again.
Brothers and sisters I have none but this man's father is my father's son. Who is this man?
Lily pondered this for a moment.
"Oh! It's so simple! The man is my son."
Good thinking.
The door swung open and Lily stepped aside to let the boy in. "Please get me Daniel Murray!" She called after him.
Catherine hit herself softly in the head. She didn't think Lily was that smart.
A second later, Daniel walked out of the Common Room and smiled at Lily.
"You called?"
"Evelyn told me."
"Oh." He said with a slight frown on his face. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know, it threw everything off."
"Why don't you just tell her?"
"I told you, she's independent and proud of it. She won't take help from anyone in these situations. She'll be more upset that we set her up than the fact that were going together."
Catherine knew it now. Lily was going to the dance with Daniel Murray. All other information from their conversation blurred out as Catherine tried to figure out what Lily was trying to do.
Daniel ran his hand through his hair.
"Why didn't you just say yes to her?!" Lily said in a hushed yell.
"Because I couldn't just drop you after all you did for me!"
"Well now were both dead!"
He sighed. "I know."
Lily rubbed her temples. She felt a migraine coming. "She's going to be mad."
"Maybe I should have just said yes.."
"No shit!"
"Let's talk about this tomorrow, okay? I'm really tired and well have more ideas then." He said, mid-yawn.
"Yeah, good idea. Goodnight Daniel."
He smiled. "Bye Lily." And the Ravenclaw doors closed.
As soon as Lily started walking again, Catherine ambushed her.
"What the hell are you trying to do, Evans?"
Lily jumped and she took a step back. "You heard?"
"Enough to know how you're back-stabbing Evelyn. You know she's such a nice girl and she was my first real friend here. What are you trying to do to her?!"
Lily looked at her pleadingly. "You don't understand. Just hear me out and then you can decide what you think from there."
Catherine nodded slowly and leaned back against the stone pillar.
Lily took a deep breath. "So, in fourth year here, Daniel and Evelyn were partners in Defence. She started taking a fancy to him and talked about him all the time. She even had a little run-in with him with her falling and him failing to catch her." She said with a bit of a laugh.
"Turns out, Daniel had taken a bit of a fancy towards Evelyn too but then she went out with Black so he gave up. When she moved to Beauxbatons, Daniel and I were put together in Potions and we got to be friends over the mutual fondness of Evelyn. Evelyn came back and Daniel immediately recognized her. He fancies her now more than ever and he wanted help." She said. She paused to look up at Catherine who now had understanding dawning on her face.
"The fall dance was announced and as you know, I didn't know that Evelyn already fancied Daniel so we thought up a plan. We did a lot of thinking because we wanted to do something would benefit both of us. So the dance came up and we decided to go together. For him, it was a chance to see if Evelyn fancied him or to get her to fancy him. If she already fancied him, the dance would make her jealous. If she didn't fancy him, the dance was to give Evelyn a chance to get to know him better if she thought him and I were friends."
Lily paused to let Catherine catch up. "Wait, then what benefited you? You said it would benefit both of you." Catherine said.
"Oh," Lily said. "It would give me a date that could help me get away from James. Someone who I knew wouldn't run away because he was doing it for a cause." She said simply.
Catherine raised an eyebrow. "Hate him that much?"
"Yes." Lily replied instantly.
"So I heard something about why you couldn't just tell Evelyn about this. Could you explain?"
Lily nodded. "Evelyn is confident in herself and her abilities. She can ask for help if she needs it but if she doesn't think she does, she won't accept any help. It's surprising she even let you help her in Defence." Lily said with a smile. "As a friend, I've tried to set her up with people that she's liked in the past but it just gets her really mad. No matter how much she liked the person she wouldn't go anywhere with them or do anything with them if it was set up." Lily said.
Catherine frowned. Lily sighed and went on. "She has this thing where she says 'If it's something I really want, if it's someone I really like, I want to be able to say I achieved it myself. That I got to my goal without anyone's help. Or that me and this person got together by ourselves, by our own choice and not someone's set-up.' She's a proud girl." Lily said.
"Then why did you choose to set her up this time?"
Lily's face turned red. "Well you see, I wasn't really thinking about what she wanted. I was really excited about having my first close guy friend and I wanted to do it for him."
"Oh." Catherine said awkwardly. "You're dead."
Evelyn turned around. She was not going to go to the Griffindor Common Room. She was too worked up.
She ran around trying to find someone to talk to when she came across someone crying. A certain bitchy someone crying. A certain bitchy person that she hated.
Evelyn hesitantly walked up to the girl and lightly tapped her on the shoulder.
"Walker, are you okay?"
