After he had read about fifteen pages the door opened. Harry looked up, after deactivating his Sharingan, to a sandy haired boy with baby fat still on his face and a slight overbite. He was struggling with his trunk behind him. Harry stood up with a smile. "Let me help you with that." He said before easily lifting it into the luggage rack. He turned around and offered his hand. "Hello, I'm Harry. Nice to meet you." "Ne.. Neville. Nice to me..meet you as well." Said Neville with a firm hand shake. "Please come in and sit." Harry offered. After the boy sat Harry asked. "You a First year as well?" Neville nodded his head shly.

The door oponed again. This time it was a Bushy Haired girl. "Hello, Mind if I join you?" She asked. "Not at all. Let me help you with your trunk." Harry replied. While he and Neville lifted the heavy trunk into the rack, Hermione took a closer look at the two. At first glance it looked like a first year and maybe a third. The smaller boy was about 4'8 with a chubby round face and sandy blonde hair. He was already wearing his Hogwarts uniform. The taller boy was about 5'2 with jet black hair. He had wide shoulders and as he hefted the trunk you could see the muscles at work under his silk black shirt. He looked quite cute, with his all black attire and piercing emerald green eyes that seemed to glow. A closer look at his face and she could tell he was around her own age. "Names Harry, this is Neville. Nice to meet you miss.." "Granger, Hermione Granger." She answered shaking the hand of Neville and getting her knuckles brushed with Harry's lips. Causing a pink tint to form in her cheeks. "So are you a First year as well?" Asked Harry not noticing her blush. "Wha.. Oh, yes forst year. Nobody in my Family is magical. It was ever such a surprise when I got my letter. But I was ever so pleased of Course. I mean the finest school of witchcraft there is. I've learned all the course books by heart, of course. I just hope it will be enough." She said in what seemed like one breath.

Harry smiled at her, Neville stared open mouth at her. "Well I have been thinking a lot about non-magical born students, you see my mother was supposedly one, but when I was tested at Gringotts, for my blood lineage, it turns out she was a descendant of the House of Drakul. My theory is that most non-magical born have at least one magical in their ancestry somewhere. Perhaps what they refer to as a squib. They would still carry the recessive gene for magic. I wonder if you would be willing to have that tested. Its pretty easy, you just drip some blood on a enchanted parchment the goblins have and it will tell you of any magical blood lines you come from. Would be a decent way to find long lost family. And if we can test several non-magical borns it would prove my theory. Wouldn't that be something if their actually was something known as a magic genome."

"Why do you keep calling them non-magical borns? I always heard it as muggleborn." Asked Neville nervously. "Oh, I just don't like that term. It's like trying to classify them as a different species, which they are not. They are just humans unable to preform magic." Just then the door opened again it was a tall red headed boy with a smudge of dirt on his nose. He looked around like he was trying to find someone then huffed and left. "Hmm." Hummed Harry. "Oh no, I've lost Trevor!" said Neville looking around frantically. "Don't worry I will help you find him." Said Hermione. "Why don't we just go ask a prefect to use the summoning charm for us? That will save us some time." Harry suggested.

Harry along with Neville walked up to the first compartment and knocked. The door was opened by a tall skinny red headed boy in his Hogwarts robes with a badge pinned to his chest. "Sorry this is the prefects compartment." He said. "Great, I was wondering if you would be willing to help my friend Neville has misplaced his pet toad. I was hoping that you would be willing to summon him for us." "Oh, yes I could help you with that. Accio toad." A second later a toad flew through the halls and landed in the prefects hands. "Here you are. Try to keep track of him okay." The prefect said with an airy tone. "Thanks for your help." Harry said with a slight bow.

When they came back to their compartment Harry found a scence he just didn't like. "Filthy mudblood. You may as well give up magic now. Your kind aren't welcome here." Said a blonde boy who was standing over Hermione who looked to be on the verge of tears. He was flanked by to rather large boys an inch or two taller than Harry. "Excuse me, would you lot mind terribly leaving my friend alone?" Harry said in an icy voice. The boy turned around with a sneer. "Your friend? The mudblood? Oh and I see your also hanging out with a squib." The boy chuckled as if he said something clever. "I don't much like name calling blondie. So take your friends and get out of my compartment." Harry demanded barily keeping his anger under leash. "Oh and I suppose that if we don't your gonna make us? Don't make me laugh."

Harry activated his Sharingan making his eyes glow. He looked deep into the boys eyes and unleashed his killing intent, along with a subtle genjutsu to increase the boys fear. "Last chance leave." He growled out. Letting Bet'anyna and Aricles travel down his arm to take form on each side of him. The wolves sensing their alphas anger bared their fangs and growled lowly, likcking their teeth. The boys scrambled out into the hallway. "My father will hear about this." The blonde said while retreating. The wolves calmed down and went to nuzzle the teary eyed Hermione. She smiled at their antics and gave them both some attention. Harry went and sat down with Neville beside him. "That was bloody brilliant." The shy boy said.

"Why did he call you a squib Neville?" Harry asked taking the attention off Hermione. Neville looked down ashamed. "Well my family thought I was for the longest time. My uncle even kept trying to scare some magic out of me. He finally managed when he dropped me from the second story balcony. I bounce all the way down to the pond. He was so proud he got me Trevor." Neville said. Harry cranked down on his anger from the child abuse he heard of. And activated his mage sight. Neville almost jumped back. "What's wrong with your eyes?" He asked. "Oh, I have mage sight. It allows me to see magical energies. I was just looking at your magical core. You have plenty of magic. It just seems a little wild." "I thought only really expirenced wizards could obtain mage sight?" Asked Hermione. "Well I have a theory about that too. I think that it may also activate under extreme stress. Because I have had it for as long as I can remember." "Extreme stress? Like what?" She asked again forgetting The blondes cruel words. "Well like surviving a killing Curse."

Hermione and Neville gasped. "Your Harry Potter." They said together. Looking up to his forehead. "Yea sorry I didn't tell you I just wanted to make friends without them knowing I was the boy-who-lived?" he said with sarcasm evident in the title. "I've read all about you." Hermione started. Harry cut her off. "Oh thanks for reminding me. I really need to get them to pull all that rubbish." "What do you mean?" asked Neville. "Well they are using my image and telling a bunch of lies about me, without my consent. It's quite illegal. I mean a child killing the greatest dark wizard of the century? It's not likely. And they claim to have interviewed me and all that. Makes me seem like a braggart. If I was you I would ignore everything you read except that my parents were murdered and I somehow survived."

"Harry what kind of wolves are these?" Hermione asked after she gathered herself. "Carpathian wolves. I found them starving while I was traveling near Romania. I took them in and now I am part of their pack. They are what you would call my familars." "I thought you could only bring a cat, toad , or owl?" asked Hermione. "The rules allow any bounded familiar to accompany you." He said in way of answer. The wolves made their way to Neville for some attention. He was a little scared at first until Aricles licked his face. Then he laughed and pet them both. Since the sun was still up the two then turned to mist and settled once more as tattoos on Harry's shoulder. Getting inquisitive looks from his new friends he pulled his shirt over showing them his packs other form.

The rest of the trip was spent in easy conversation. Neville and Harry stepped out in the hall letting Hermione change and she did the same for them. Not too long after, the voice came over the speakers telling them they were nearing Hogsmeade and to leave their trunks on the train. "Firs' 'ears. Firs' 'ears over 'ere gather roun'." They heard as they stepped off the train. The man calling for them was easily 8 foot tall. And about as wide as Harry was tall.

They were led down a rocky path to a large lake with several small boats docked. "No mor' 'en four to a boat." The man announced. Harry climbed in and helped Neville, Hermione, and a unremarkable girl named Sally Anne Perks. A round of introduction later the large man called out. "Forward." And the boats glided across the lake. After a few minutes, they got their first look at the castle. Standing over them lit up, it was a glorious sight.

"Firs years Proffessor McGonagall." Said the giant of a man. "Thank you Hagrid." The stern looking woman then turned to the assembled first years. "Now, in a few moments you will enter through these doors and join your classmates. But before that you will be sorted into your house. While you are at Hogwarts your house will be like your family. You will eat together, sleep together, and study together. Any achievements will earn your house points and any rule breaking will cost points. The houses are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. I suggest you take a few moments to straitin yourselves up." She finished looking at the red head from earlier who still had a smug of dirt on his nose.

Harry standing beside his new friends was amused by some of the things people thought they would have to do to be sorted. Anything from taking a test, to fighting a dragon. He had figured out that the sorting had been a well kept secret and a tradition of sorts to mess with the first years. "Which house do you think you will be in?" Asked Hermione. "I don't really know. I'd be fine with any house really, they all have their advantages. But if I had to answer honestly I would say Ravenclaw. The quest for knowledge intrigues me." The red headed boy who had been eaves dropping cut in. "You mean you would be okay with being in Slytherin?" He asked saying the last word like it was poison.

"Of course I would. Merlin himself was sorted into Slytherin. It's not just dark wizards that come from that house but also natural leaders and many celebrities." Harry answered. "Merlin wasn't a slimy Slytherin." The boy almost yelled. Harry sighed. "It's in Hogwarts a history." He said. He saw Hermione nod. The boy gave him a disgusted look. Probably for his reading a book as much as for him advocating Slytherin.

Professor McGonagall then pulled a stoll over to the front of the great hall. And set an old worn out hat with a rip in it on the stool. The hat started moving then sang.

Oh you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folks use any means

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!

"When I call your name come forth to be sorted." Professor McGonagall said. "Hannah Abbot." Harry watched as a pink faced blonde girl wearing pig-tails made her way to the hat. It was sat on her head and after a few minutes it shouted out. "HUFFLEPUFF" and so it went a name was called. The hat was placed and the child went to join their housemates at the table. Some took longer than others, while some were instant. Like the blonde boy who insulted Harry's friends. He learned the boys name was Draco Malfoy. The hat hadn't even touched his head before it called out "SLYTHERIN" "Neville was sorted to Gryffindor. And Hermione into Ravenclaw.

Then it was his turn. "Harry Potter." Harry was relived to see they didn't address him as Lord Potter. But the hall went quiet until he started walking forward. Then the pointing and whispering began. He took a deep breath and mastered his emotions before sitting in the stool then everything went black. "Hmm interesting. Very interesting. You are learning one of the forgotten arts I see. And part Carpathian and a sorcerer. Quite powerful I've never sorted one as powerful as you since Merlin. But where to put you? Ah I see you don't buy into the prejudice of the magical world. That's good it will take you far to be open minded. Yes, you could deffintley be in Slytherin. But I feel that would limit you same goes for Gryffindor. Hufflepuff would flourish with you in their ranks. I've never seen such a hard working individual. But you don't trust easy. Once you do you would die before breaking it. And I imagine Ravenclaw would love to have you. Such tools at your disposal and a thirst for knowledge. This is very difficult." "Well why don't you put me where I can be myself and still make plenty of friends. Though I heard Ravenclaw has separate rooms and a large library." Harry said back. "Well you would be great in any of them. But with some of the things your already studying it makes since to put you in RAVENCLAW"

Harry heard the last part shouted out to the hall. He stood took the hat off bowed to McGonagall and headed to the claws table. After a few steps the tables erupted in applause. As he walked past the Gryffindors tables a set of red headed twons were pouting. "We didn't get Potter. We didn't get Potter." Harry took a seat ater shaking several hands next to an attractive indian girl he recalled as Padma Patil. And next to Hermione. He found Neville across the isles and gave him a smile and a nod. Letting the boy know he still wanted to be friends.

After the sorting Headmaster Dumbledore stood up and said. "Yes welcome all to another year of Hogwarts. Before we are fed and watered I have a few words to say. And they are nitwit, oddment, blubber, and tweak. Tuck in." as he sat he comtemplated what had just happened. He had ordered the hat to place the Potter brat in Gryffindor with Weasley. The hat rarely defied him. It must of found nothing Gryffindor about the boy. Which was odd s he was the decendant of Godric himself. That he was in ravenclaw was not good. The only worse house for him to have been sorted into would have been Slytherin. But having the brains to be sorted into the house of knowledge meant that it may be harder to manipulate the boy than he feared.

As Harry was eating and chatting with Hermione and Padma he looked up to the head table. And Dumbledore managed to Catch his eyes. The old man smiled and nodded at the boy and he smiled back. It wouldn't do to let him know that he was Suspicious of him. Harry had theroy's for just why he was sent to the Dursley's. And most weren't good. On the one hand he could write it off as ignorance, Dumbledore not knowing that he was leaving him with a family of sadists who would take pleasure in tormenting him. But on the other, a boy that knew little kindness and had been brought low his whole life was easily built up, manipulated into what you wanted.

He looked over at the other Professors and for the most part was happy with what he saw. A group of educated individuals who seemed fairly easy going. A few caught his eye. Like the small goblin like man he had learned was his new head of house, and teacher for charms.. Professor Flitwick, who seemed very delighted this evening. Another was Professor Sprout head of the Hufflepuffs an attractive portly woman who kindness just shown from. Also the teacher for herbology. Then there were those he wasn't so sure of. Professor McGonagall was one of these. She seemed very stern and almost like she had forgotten how to smile. He hoped she was able to put together a captivating class. After all Transfiguration was one of the harder magicks to learn.

Then there was Professor Snape, whom he had read was one of the youngest to ever reach the level of potions master. He looked rather unpleasant to be honest. Not that Harry minded. It wouldn't do to have no challenges afterall. When he had caught the mans eye he had been given a look of loathing and felt a probe against his Occulmency shields. Then the man looked slightly confused. Lastly was the defense against the dark arts teacher a man named Quirrel. Who appeared to be afraid of his own shadow. There was something wrong with that man Harry could feel it in his gut.

After everyone was done eating, and getting tired, Headmaster Dumbledore stood once more. "I know that you are all tired from your long journey, but I have a few start of term announcements I must make. Caretaker Filch has asked me to remind you that there is to be know magic in the hallways between classes, also that the list of unaproved items has been increased to 173 and can be und on his office door. First years should note that the forbidden forest is out of bounds for good reason. Some of our older students would do well to remember that as well.' He looked over at the Weasley twins. "Also I must inform you that the third floor corridor on the left hand side is off limits to those who don't wish to die the most horrific death. Now prefects please lead your houses to the common rooms. Schedules will be handed out tomorrow morning."

Harry followed his house prefects up to their common room with His Sharingan active. Tonight when everyone was in bed he would send Shadow Clones to explore and map out the castle for him. He was actually quite tired. When the got to a door with no knob or keyhole only a brass knocker the prefect explained. "To get into our tower you must use the knocer like so. Then it will ask a riddle which you must answer correctly." "Which came first the phoenix or the flame?" asked the eagle. Everyone looked around at each other. Harry answered. "A circle has no beginning." The door swung open.

Inside the common room. It has graceful arched windows, and the walls are hung with blue and bronze silks. The domed ceiling is painted with stars, which are echoed in the midnight-blue carpet. Tables, chairs, and bookcases cover the expanse of the floor, and a white-marble statue of Rowena Ravenclaw. "First years I am sure by now you have noticed the library. Under no circumstances are any of the books to leave our tower. Now, the dorms are up the stairs each flight is for the respective years. Meaning first years first floor. You each will have your own room so that there is plenty of room for self study and projects you may wish to have. Curfew starts at 9 and ends at 7. The library doesn't open until 9 same time as your first classes once you receive your schedules. I'm sure your all ready for bed so I won't keep you any longer."

Harry was impressed by his room. A large four post king size bed with emerald green curtains. The room was easily large enough for several projects. He noticed his trunk at the foot of the bed and called his pack off his body. "Hey guys." He greeted them. "It's past curfew right now so we can't go explore the forest, but I was gonna send out a couple clones to explore the castle. You guys want to go with one of them?" after reciving an affirmative Harry summoned four clones with plenty of extra chakra. The each henged into different small animals and made there way out. He heard a little pop and wasn't surprised to see Treatsy. "Does master Harry like his room?" "Harry loves his room. Thank you Treatsy. How are things back home?" He hd been trying to break her of the whole master thing but it just wasn't happening. "Treatsy has nothing to do without her pack. Was wondering if the Master minded if I spent some of mys time here cleaning and cooking with the Hogwarts Elves?" "That would be lovely Treatsy." "Goodnight Master Harry." The elf said sweetly before popping out.
