Chapter 14: Awake.
Ahsoka kept her head low for a time as it began to grow dark, the night-time sounds of creatures scuttling around her feet and the gentle breathing of Padme who lay beside her whistled in her ear.
"Rex" she suddenly said, looking around and watching as her troops either walked around, or remained seated on large boulders. "Rex?"
Ahsoka stood quickly and silently moved around Padme, who's eyes remained closed and her hand stayed beside her cheek. She slowly walked towards the cliff-face, sliding her hand across the wet rock as if to find an opening.
She found none.
"Rex, stop fooling around, this is not the time to be pedantic" she called out, looking back towards the clones who were still in their positions.
"Commander" a voice swept into her ear making her turn to her left. A booming figure stood before her as Rex removed his helmet to reveal a smirk. "I've found something."
He flicked his head for her to follow him and walked towards the waterfall, a spray of water spitting into Ahsoka's eyes making her blink repeatedly for a minute. After wiping away the water from her cheek she quickly walked towards his waiting figure.
"What is it you want to show me Rex?" her eyes lightning in both curiosity and loss.
"Put your hand through here Sir" he pointed to the wall of water that poured down the cliff-side and nodded. Ahsoka looked at him, a twist of frustration climbing onto her face.
"Rex, we don't have time for games" she snapped, biting down on her tongue to keep her voice from echoing around the whole area. She felt Rex's hand slip around her wrist and force it through the waterfall, her breath stopping for as he did, the cold water quickly slid down her arm and across her waist.
"Sir, just a little further."
Her shoulder went in next when Rex realized that her arm wasn't long enough, hearing her shock as it she went in further made guilt slide up his throat. The guilt stopped as soon as he heard a thud and heard a small gasp from his right.
"I feel it Rex" she whispered, feeling as he gently let go of her wrist. She didn't remove her arm but continued to feel the metal behind the waterfall until her hand curved around something solid. "Get the troops, we're going in."
A deadly whip crack.
"Ow."
Another.
A grunt that fills the air.
Another.
No sound.
Durge stands behind the back of the bloodied Jedi, the whip tightening in his grip making his veins pop.
Why doe the Jedi feel no pain?
Why does he bitterly mock him, sarcastically spit words back towards him when he is on the brink of unconsciousness?
Is this what all Jedi do?
Probably.
He swings the whip back again, but instead of just the one tail snapping back and slashing the bleeding Jedi's back he unleashes five. He hears the tearing of fabric against the leather whip, the chains that tug as the Jedi pulls himself forward by the wrists.
The jaw wrenching cry that Obi Wan has to hold back in order to not show weakness.
'It's always me isn't it?'
Another slash, another biting down of the tongue to stop himself from crying out.
'Yes, yes it is.'
He felt as blood pooled in his mouth, his tongue sensitive to the touch of his teeth from where he had bitten down on it to stop his cry.
"Had enough?" the bitter voice crawled down his neck making his hairs stand on edge.
"It would be nice to have a rest" he quipped back, spitting some of his blood into the wall he was currently facing.
"Scum."
He felt as a hand connected with the back of his head, his mind dizzied slightly making him dip his head forward.
"The General says to leave for today" the metallic sound of a droid brought the message of music to Obi Wan's ears as he relaxed slightly, but not before receiving one more slash for good measure.
The door slammed shut behind him and the chains were released from their high height to a level where he would be able to sit back and slide into the wall.
He took deep gulps of the filthy air, and looked towards the small pothole like window which showed the precious light turn into the darkness.
He shivered.
It would only be a matter of time before he came back.
Time for strengthening himself up, time for…
"Play time Jedi" his newest shiver wasn't from the cold but from the voice that sparked a fuse to send his blood cold.
Her voice, sickeningly sweet, more so than usual slipped into the room.
A trickle of laughter.
A shadow.
Then the fragranced hair that rested on his cheek.
"You…"
Continuous bleeping.
Heart rate monitor blaring out a simple tune.
The single murmur and movement from a bed.
Vokara Che held a small holo in her hand before staring down at her patient, sighing slightly. She never enjoyed seeing him here; he was always covered in blood, or left in such a state that she was afraid she would never be able to fix him.
But she did.
A small twitch in the force around her made her raise an eyebrow and make her lip go ridged. She slowly bent forward towards Anakin, placing the holo beside him and stared at him, until she jumped back in shock.
His eyes were flashed open, the blue illuminating but a strict worry in his eye.
"Where is Obi Wan?"
*Coughs* Yep, definitely not going to see my 18th!
Sorry guys!
