Chapter 14: Beach House / Crabs-Y
At the Beach House
"Welcome! It's been a while, Satsuki-neesan!" a tall tanned woman greeted Satsuki. She wore a sleeveless white top and 3/4 black shorts. She had purple eyes and long dark purple hair in a high ponytail.
"Nagisa! You've been doing well! ?" Satsuki approached her younger sister, hopping happily.
"Of course!"
"You're amazing! You're the manager of a beach house!"
Misaki and the rest of the staffs stared at their manager's sister with surprised looks on their faces. They didn't expect to see a tanned version of Satsuki.
"Welcome, everyone!" Nagisa turned to the group of girls, "You can relax a bit before going out on the beach."
"Okay!" they replied with a nervous smile.
"Nagisa, did you happen to see a teenage boy named, Tendou, and his cosplaying friend, Draco?" Satsuki asked her younger sister.
"Oh why, yes, I have. They came in early today." Nagisa turned to the Beach House, "Draco, come help take the girls belongings!" she called loudly.
Misaki and the rest of the group had excited looks on their face, and they were preparing to see his real face in person.
"Oh boy! Girls, get ready to see Draco's face!" Honoka trembled in excitement.
"I've got my camera ready!" Erika followed, holding a camera in her hands.
"Girls, he's coming!" Subaru interrupted as they brightened their eyes at the doorway.
From the entrance of the Beach House, footsteps were heard as Draco came out... in his same appearance?
"Ah, you girls are here!"
Deadpanning, everyone popped their eyes and dropped their mouths to the ground in complete astonishment - except for Nagisa.
"HE'S STILL WEARING THAT! ? IN THIS HEAT! ?" they shouted in disbelief.
"Yeah, I had the same reaction, too." Nagisa laughed nervously.
"Draco, aren't you burning up in that costume! ?" Misaki asked concernedly.
"It's not a problem. I'm used to the heat." Draco lied, "Your bags, ladies?" he reached out his right hand to them.
Satsuki slid the door and widened their eyes in amazement at their spacious room.
"It's a pretty place!" Hokona exclaimed as they walked to the window. She slid the door open and stepped out.
"OW! ! MY NOSE! !" a familiar voice shouted in pain.
The girls widened their eyes to see a certain dishwasher on the balcony unnoticed.
It was Tendou, who was lying on the floor, rubbing his bloody nose. He wore a black Hawaiian shirt and dark blue shorts.
"Oh, no! Tendou, I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there!" Honoka helped the teenager up.
"Tendou, why are you sweating so much?" Subaru asked, who was the first one to notice.
"I hate the heat. You can say it's my weakness." the spiky brown-haired replied before letting out a yawn.
"Tendou, I'm concerned about Draco. Does he always dress like that, especially summer?" Satsuki asked worriedly.
"Uh, yeah, he does that." he lied.
"And why were you sleeping on the floor?" Misaki asked.
"Draco and I came here too early to deliver the boxes for Nagisa. Then, I got tired and fell asleep." Tendou answered the black-haired girl. "Also, my family's here."
"Your family?" everyone questioned in confusion.
"Oh, you all must be the Maid Latte girls my son's been working with?" a female voice asked from the doorway.
The girls turned their back and saw four adults walking in their room.
Misaki widened her eyes in surprise to see two certain adults she hadn't seen in a while.
They were Tendou's parents! And behind them were his grandparents.
"Tendou's family! ?" Misaki gaped.
"Misa-chan, you know them?" Satsuki asked the younger girl.
"I-I only met his parents one time. I didn't expect to see them here."
The female staffs approached the Stelar family and shook hands with them.
"You're Tendou's mother! ? No wonder he looks so much like you!" they exclaimed at the purple-ish pink-haired woman with stars in their eyes.
"Girls, please~ You're making me blush!" Sonia laughed nervously, "My name is Sonia!"
"Sonia?" Satsuki paused and looked at the mother's face, examining her for a bit. "That name actually rings a bell... Where have I heard that before? And you do look very familiar." the dark purple-haired woman was in deep thought, trying to remember from her memory bank.
"Wow, Sonia, you're already popular with them at first sight." Geo complimented his wife.
Sonia noticed her son had a bloody nose. "Tendou, you did not picture any dirty thoughts, did you?" she teased him playfully.
"Kaa-san." the teenager groaned.
"Oh no! Sonia, that was actually my fault!" Honoka bowed down apologetically, "I stepped on him by accident without looking!"
"Why you're Misaki, aren't you?" Hope greeted the young girl, "Our grandson told us so much about you."
"Yes, I am. You're Tendou's grandmother, right?"
"That's right. You can call me Hope." she shook hands with the girl and leaned forward, "Oh, and don't worry about your part-time job, dear. We can keep it a secret for you." she finished in a whisper.
"And you're his grandfather?"
"You are correct! Call me Kelvin!" he shook hands with her, "Let's get along!"
"Okay, everyone, who's ready to go for a swim!" Sonia asked the group energetically.
"Tendou, we're going to change now!" Satsuki waved happily to him, "Can you boys please step outside?" she asked the three males politely.
"You don't have to tell me that." Tendou obviously knew it and walked out of the room.
As the girls changed in the guest room.
"So Misaki, you didn't have any time for fun very often?" Sonia asked.
"Not much, Mrs. Stelar."
"You don't have to call me that. It makes me feel old. Just call me Sonia!" the mother insisted with a smile.
"Well, uh, Sonia, the other day my mother yelled at me to go have fun like other high schoolers do, so I plan to have all the fun I can!" Misaki answered.
"You really want to go all out with everything, don't you, Misa-chan?" Subaru questioned.
Erika noticed something peculiar about Misaki's swimsuit, "Huh? Misa-chan, you're wearing that?"
"Wait a minute, Misaki, why did you bring that?" Sonia asked with a confused look.
"I'm going out now!" Misaki exclaimed.
Running to the beach, Misaki leaped in the air and dived on the water. She was wearing a school blue swimsuit, a white swim cap, and a goggle. She resurfaced and waved to them.
"Hey, girls! Join in! It feels great!"
The female staffs stared at the younger girl in disbelief in their swimsuits.
"She actually brought that instead of an actual swimsuit?" Sonia questioned in disbelief, deadpanned.
"To be honest, Sonia, swimsuits are expensive." Subaru answered.
"But... does she have to bring a swim cap, too?" Erika questioned.
"I guess she's pretty happy to be swimming." Honoka noted.
"Oh dear, this isn't what I was expecting." Hope sighed in disappointment.
"Same here, honey." Kelvin nodded.
"Tendou, you feeling all right?" Geo asked his son.
Panting nonstop, Tendou was drenched in heavy sweat. "I... hate... this... heat... " was all he could say in a weak tone. The heat was killing him.
"Tendou! Come, join in!" Misaki called, waving her right hand.
"Come on, kid! Go have a swim!" Kelvin patted his panting grandson's back, causing him to step forward a bit.
"Come on, Tendou! Don't just stand there! Get in there!" Erika encouraged him by smacking his butt.
Tendou blushed from the butt smack. "I, uh, I do need to cool off." he took a deep breath and exhaled before dashing forward. Jumping in the air, he rolled and dived in the water with a splash.
"Hang on! Tendou just went in without taking his shirt off?" Subaru realized in confusion.
The Stelar family noticed this and didn't want to inform them about his back he had seven years ago.
He had a reason for not showing his back!
"Well, uh, Tendou just wanna try to swim with a shirt on!" Geo answered nervously.
"Th-That's right! My boy wanted to know what it was like to swim that way!" Sonia added in defense.
Tendou resurfaced and gasped for air, "Oh man! That feels much better!" he exclaimed and saw Misaki swimming towards him.
"Tendou, are you sure you can swim with your shirt on?" the black-haired girl asked.
"Oh crap! I forgot about my back!" he gaped in realization. He remembered the battle seven years ago, then shrugged it off. "Well, uh, Misaki, you see, I wanted to know what it feels like to swim with a shirt on." he lied nervously, then received a splash from her. "HEY! !"
"You let your guard down!" Misaki laughed and splashed some more on him.
"That's your game, huh! ? Take that!" Tendou splashed back by swinging his arms.
"How many years has it been since I last came to the beach?" the black-haired girl questioned herself, "Was it back in elementary school? Probably before that when I was gathering shellfish."
The Stelar family watched the two teenagers splashing each other with smiles on their faces.
"Hey, Geo, when was the last time Tendou had fun?" Sonia asked her husband.
"Before he became Megaman. Tendou really missed out a lot of fun time."
"I'm glad our grandson is actually having fun." Kelvin said.
"I know. We haven't seen him smile like that for seven years." Hope replied.
"Maybe transferring to Seika High wasn't such a bad idea." Sonia inquired, "It was Tendou's decision after all."
Somewhere below the sea, there was a giant mechanical crab approaching its way to the shore with its glowing green eyes, waiting for its moment to strike.
"Haha! I haven't had fun like this in a long time!" Tendou said.
"Same here! I guess we're a bit alike." Misaki replied.
"Let's get back." the spiky brown-haired suggested.
"Sure." Misaki was about to swim forward, but paused and noticed something at the shore that caught her attention.
"Misaki, what's wrong?" Tendou asked.
"Look, there. Do you see anything unusual?" Misaki asked, pointing her right finger at the shore.
Tendou complied and examined, didn't take that long to figure it out. "I see what you mean."
At the shore, most of the shops had many customers, but Nagisa's Beach House didn't have a single one.
Every Maid Latte staff gathered up in their casual clothes and discussed with Nagisa about her Beach House location. However, the girls were still - and still - astonished to see Draco surviving the summer heat in his cosplaying outfit.
Geo and Kelvin were ordered to clean the shower. Sonia and Hope were having their discussing with the teenage boy in their room.
"So Tendou, how was it?" Hope asked her grandson.
"How was what?" the spiky brown-haired questioned in confusion, placing his wet black Hawaiian shirt on the hanger by the window.
"How does it feel to swim with Misaki?" Sonia asked perkily.
A blush appeared on the boy's face as he faced away, "I-It was okay." he answered shyly, taking out his red Hawaiian shirt from the backpack.
"Okay? Tendou, come on, I'm sure it was more than just "okay"! I didn't expect Misaki would bring a school swimsuit. To be honest with you, Tendou, your grandmother and I were disappointed. We were expecting more... elegant." Sonia linked her left arm around her son, "So~ have you two kissed yet?" she asked with a smile on her face.
"Oh! I'm curious about that, too!" Hope joined in.
The blush on Tendou's face intensified from the memory of their accidental kiss. "Well, um, Kaa-san... Obaa-san... we, uh... we did kiss... once." he answered with more shyness.
A gasp was heard from his mother and grandmother. They didn't believe what just heard from him.
"My baby boy finally got his first kiss!" Sonia squealed in delight.
"After seventeen years, I thought my grandson would never get one!" Hope hugged her daughter-in-law.
"But the kiss was an accident!" Tendou corrected them.
"But it's still your first kiss, Tendou!" Sonia countered, "I'm pretty sure that was Misaki's first kiss, too."
"That wasn't my first kiss, Kaa-san! Have you forgotten what you-I mean, the teenage version of you told you after we defeated Skull! ? My first kiss was the past version of YOU because the teenage version of you started to find me attractive, and almost committed a forbidden relationship! And I'm still traumatized about that!" the boy fired back.
Dropping her smile, Sonia unpleasantly remembered what the teenage version of her told her. "Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that."
Misaki stared at her friends in disbelief to see their maid tactic on the beach to attract more customers for Nagisa's Beach House. "Nagisa, is it all right to let this happen all of a sudden?" she asked the tanned woman.
"Why not? It's fun!" Nagisa answered with a bright smile, "We'll say it's a today-only event. Today will be a special day, and tomorrow will be back to normal. If I get a good turnout, I'll remember this as a tactic I can use. It looks like they're volunteering to do this, so do as you like. You can go help clean the shower if you want. Let me know if you need anything!" she happily walked back to the Beach House and waited for the incoming customers.
Deadpanning, Misaki gaped at her long dark purple-haired woman with her mouth dropping to the ground. "In other words... you don't care! ?" she shouted inwardly. Sighing in defeat, she walked around the Beach House and saw Tendou's father, Kelvin, and Draco cleaning the shower with scrub brooms.
Kelvin was the first to notice her, "Hey, Misaki, how's it going?"
Misaki waved to the latter before asking politely to Tendou's father, "Mr. Stelar, can I help?"
"Sure thing!" Geo inquired, "And call me Geo."
Misaki grabbed the scrub broom and joined them.
"So Misaki, how's Tendou doing in school?" Geo asked the teenage girl.
"Tendou's doing well. He spent most of his time on the roof and helped out the cleaning with the girls. He's not like the other guys at school. Most of them are so revolting. Ever since Tendou showed up, a lot happened. He found out about my part-time job, and we decided to keep it a secret from everyone at Seika High." she listed with a small smile. "He also helped my mom one time, and what surprised most is that Tendou has a job." the black-haired girl turned Geo. "I think it was WAZI or NAZA something?"
"You mean WAZA HQ?" Geo corrected.
"That's the one! Wait, you know that place, Geo?" she asked.
"I worked there, too! I brought Tendou on a tour there years ago, and he was amazed back then." Geo told her half-truthfully, didn't want to give her the full detail.
"That explains everything! Oh, and here's the best part! Megaman saved my life!" she notified them with her brightened eyes.
"Megaman, you say?" Geo and Kelvin eyed at the girl in unison, wanting to hear more. They knew where this was going.
"Before the School Festival, Megaman showed up out of nowhere and took down those four scary monsters with one hit in his Gorilla armor! He even saved everyone at school! I owe Megaman a big debt for saving my life numerous times! Especially Tendou, he saved my life a few times. Back at the library, I was going to stop the ladder from falling, but Tendou took the hit for me! And the other times, he saved me from being violated twice! I didn't know he can fight well. He really is a Megaman fanboy!"
"Megaman fanboy?" Geo and Kelvin questioned in confusion.
"You see, Tendou and I had a spar one time, and he used Megaman's Mega Finger on me. He even fights like him, too. He did say Megaman was his hero!" the black-haired girl added.
"Misa-chan, can you come over here for a bit! ?" Satsuki called.
"Coming, San-cho!" Misaki replied loudly before facing the two adults, "We can finish this another time. I'll see you two later!" she ran off to assist her manager.
Geo and Kelvin started to find Tendou's behavior a bit peculiar as they turned to the Imagin dragon.
"Draco, what has Tendou really been doing in school?" Geo asked doubtfully.
"My apology, Geo. Master Tendou's still not used to school activity." Draco answered truthfully, "The only thing he's been doing mostly is supporting Misaki."
"Draco, can you help me in the kitchen! ?" Nagisa called.
Tendou walked to the hallway, ruffling his hair with a yawn. "Man, all this swimming makes me sleepy. I'm gonna take a nap." he slid the door open and gaped at the unexpected sight.
It was Misaki in a ponytail, wearing a pink bikini with black lining around the edge, who just finished tying the apron on her back.
"T-Tendou! ?" the black-haired girl gasped at his sudden entrance.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! !" he screamed with a blush, "I'M SO SORRY, MISAKI! ! I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE IN THERE! !"
Sonia quickly rushed her way and arrived at the scene. "Tendou, what's wrong! ?" she saw her stunned son eyeing at Misaki in the room, "Misaki, you actually brought that swimsuit?" she asked the teenage girl in surprise.
"Actually, Sonia, it's not mine... "
*Flashback*
"I'm sorry to do this when this was supposed to be a vacation." Satsuki apologized to the young girl.
"No, no. It's fine. After all, I'm always in your debt." Misaki waved her hands in defense.
"In that case, here!" the dark purple-haired showed the pink bikini in her hands, "That school swimsuit bothers me in more than one way. I'll let you wear these, so get changed."
"O-Okay... " Misaki stared at the swimsuit in disbelief. She couldn't believe she had to wear something revealing.
*Flashback ended*
"I-I couldn't say no to that. There are a lot of customers out there waiting, so I had to take it." Misaki explained nervously.
Sonia entered the room and examined the swimsuit on the girl. "Not bad, Misaki. Your manager has a nice taste!" she praised.
Tendou was stunned at her exposable body and legs in that swimsuit. He didn't expect to see her attractive in it. Somehow, it made him not sleepy anymore.
"I'll be going then. Come on, Tendou, help me out!" Misaki proceeded to the hallway.
The spiky brown-haired noticed her back and quickly stopped her by grabbing her right wrist, "Wait, Misaki! You still have that scar on your back!"
Misaki stopped and turned to him in confusion, "Scar? What scar?" Then, it hit her. She gasped and remembered that scar she received that night from the four monsters, "You mean that scar! ?"
"Huh? Misa-chan? What happened to the swimsuit I lend you?" Satsuki asked with a confused look on her face.
Misaki wore her orange shirt to conceal the scar on her back with an apologetic look, "I'm sorry. Please forgive me for this. Thanks, Tendou. I owe you for that."
"Tendou, why did you do that! ? That was your chance to look at Misaki!" Sonia shook her son.
"K-Kaa-san, you don't understand! I have to! I can't let everyone see that scar on her back and freak out!" Tendou retorted in defense.
Sonia sighed in defeat and couldn't believe her son was this dense - especially romance.
"What about your back, Tendou?" she questioned, "You still have that from seven years ago."
The spiky brown-haired frowned at that memory, remembering that brutal battle he had. He was nearly killed that day.
"Kaa-san, I don't want to talk about that. I can't let Misaki see this scar." he held his left shoulder with his right hand and lowered his eyes in sorrow. It was one of the most terrifying battles he had ever experienced.
Before Sonia could say something, a loud scream was heard from outside.
Tendou and Sonia shot their heads and quickly dashed to the balcony with their widened eyes.
People were fleeing from the giant mechanical crab-like amphibious with large claws that surfaced out of the water - known as Crabs-Y.
(Crabs-Y was the first boss from Megaman X8.)
Crabs-Y let out a screeching roar and fired lasers from its green eyes at the sand, causing small explosions in the process.
"Wh-What is that thing?" Satsuki questioned in fright.
"San-cho, that's one of the monsters Megaman's been fighting recently!" Misaki answered, pointing at it.
"Girls, get inside quick! Don't let it see you!" Geo shouted.
Nagisa came out of the entrance and widened her eyes in shock at the sight, "What the! ? A giant crab monster! ?"
Tendou grunted and had to stop that thing before it ruined everyone's vacation. "Kaa-san, make sure everyone gets inside the Beach House!" he informed her before storming off.
"Okay!" Sonia nodded and hopped off the balcony, landing at the entrance, "Minna (Everyone), get inside quick!"
Tendou found his Hunter-VG from his backpack as Draco entered the room.
"Master Tendou, what can I do?"
"Draco, I want you to guard the Beach House! I can't let Misaki find you suspicious ever since the Sports Festival!"
"Hai." Draco nodded in acknowledgment.
Tendou dashed his way until he was at the back of the Beach House. He placed his Hunter-VG at the center of his waist as it shot out silver belt strap around him. "Henshin!" he called out as his body was consumed by a ball of light, transforming into his Megaman form. Once his transformation was finished, his dark blue armor released a coolant steam. "Oh man! That feels so much better! I'm glad I installed the cooling system in my Hunter-VG!" Megaman (Tendou) exclaimed heavenly, feeling the cool air flowing inside his armor, then remembered the situation. "Oh, right. The kani (crab)." he quickly hopped in the air.
Crabs-Y opened both claws and released green electricity around the area, causing small explosions.
"Wait, who are we missing! ?" Kelvin asked.
Geo looked around and saw two women running their way back to the Beach House. "Honoka, Erika, hurry!" he shouted.
Honoka and Erika were running the fast as they could until the blonde tripped on a bottle of sunscreen and fell down.
"Honoka!" Erika turned back to help her friend, but stopped and saw the giant mechanical crab approaching them with a screechy roar.
Honoka was frightened at the crab monster and couldn't move due to the state of fear. Crabs-Y opened its right claw and prepared to strike her. "AAAAAHHH! !" she screamed, pleading for help.
Suddenly, two blue energy blasts came from the sky and shot the mechanical crab's right claw, turning it into ice. Crabs-Y stopped its attack and moved backward.
A figure landed in front of the fallen Honoka, causing everyone to gasp at the scene. Misaki grew a bright smile on her face to see a certain hero she knew.
It was Megaman to the rescue!
His armors were dark blue. He had wings of Cygnus Noise form. His helmet had no spiky hair. His lens was red, and a silver mask below it. His streamlines were green.
Draco and the Stelar family smiled, knowing he could take care of it.
"Megaman's here?" Honoka questioned in disbelief to see the hero right before her eyes.
"Whoa! How'd he get here?" Erika blinked in surprise, didn't expect to see him here.
"Batoru Kaado (Battle Card)! Sumooku Bomu (Smoke Bomb)!" Megaman (Tendou) called out as a black ball appeared on his right hand and threw it at the mechanical crab's face.
The black ball exploded with a thick smoke, blocking the giant mechanical crab's vision. Crabs-Y let out a screechy roar and swung both claws at the smoke.
The dark blue armored Megaman lifted Honoka up with his right arm and wrapped Erika's waist with his left. "Hang on tight!" he warned them as they complied before swiftly leaping to the Beach House. He landed and gently set them on the floor.
"Arigato (Thank you), Megaman!" Erika and Honoka thanked the hero.
"Honoka, are you okay?" Satsuki asked worriedly.
"I'm okay. Nothing serious."
With a small gasp, Nagisa stared at the winged Megaman in surprise for the first time. "You're the legendary Megaman I've heard so much about!"
"Actually, Nagisa-" Before Satsuki could explain to her younger sister, Misaki quickly interrupted.
"We can talk about this later! For now, let Megaman take care of that monster!"
Megaman (Tendou) nodded and leaped back to fight the giant mechanical crab. Crabs-Y broke the ice with its own strength and saw its main target at the sky. He mechanically transformed his right arm into HeavyCannon and fired several times at it. Crabs-Y blocked the attack with its own claws as shields before opening its right claw, firing multiple green lasers at him. Reverting his armed-cannon back to his right arm, Megaman (Tendou) smacked the first laser away and dodged the rest by leaping sideways.
Without letting him noticing, Crabs-Y launched its left opened claw and caught him with a loud snap.
"GAAAAAAAHHH! !"
"Megaman!" Misaki shouted.
The left claw retrieved its way back and attached to its left arm as Crabs-Y slammed him on the sand. Removing its left claw, the giant mechanical crab smacked its fallen enemy with both claws one by one with a loud thump, repeating itself over and over.
"AAHH! ! DAAAHH! ! GAAHH! !" With each thump, Megaman (Tendou) couldn't avoid its slamming claws due to its quick speed.
"Megaman! Don't give up!" Misaki cheered.
"Come on, Megaman! You can do it!" Honoka followed.
"Kick that crab's butt!" Erika added.
"I don't think crabs have a butt." Subaru corrected her curly auburn-haired friend.
"Subaru, it's just a figure of speech." Sonia patted the green-haired woman's right shoulder.
Crabs-Y backed away and fired green lasers from its eyes at its fallen enemy. Megaman (Tendou) found his chance and flitted away as the lasers hit the sand with a small explosion. He landed and panted in relief. The giant mechanical crab screeched out a roar and charged at him. Reaching his hands to the edge of Cygnus Noise wings, the dark blue armored Megaman detached them and tossed them in the air, spinning as if they were boomerangs. He formed both his index and middle fingers into finger guns and controlled them by swinging his arms. Both wings changed direction by his command and sliced the left claw as it exploded, causing Crabs-Y to screech a roar in agony.
"What the! ? His wings are weapons, too! ?" Misaki gaped in disbelief.
"Satsuki-neesan, are you sure this is the same Megaman you told me about? He doesn't fit in that detail." Nagisa asked her older sister.
"Well, Nagisa, how do I put it?" Satsuki fumbled, couldn't find a way to explain.
Geo smiled at them, knowing who they were referring to. "You girls are talking about the Megaman from 23 years ago, right?" he asked them.
"Yeah, that's right." Satsuki replied.
"That Megaman was from the war twenty-three years ago, but this Megaman is the new generation." Geo explained clearly.
"The new generation Megaman?" the two dark purple-haired sisters repeated in confusion.
"That's right. He's carrying on the previous Megaman's legacy." Geo finished.
Misaki looked at Tendou's father in surprise, didn't expect to hear that.
"HIYA! !" Megaman (Tendou) swung his arms forward as his spinning wings sliced Crabs-Y's right claw, exploding it in the process. He caught his Cygnus Noise wings and reattached them to his back.
Crabs-Y screeched out a roar and stumbled, unable to retaliate without its claws.
Megaman (Tendou) formed his fighting stance and held out his opened right hand, then it was engulfed by a crimson red Noise. "The school of the undefeated of the East! The ultimate secret technique!" he formed his hands together as if he was holding a ball and took aim as the crimson red Noise grew in size, filled with electricity. "SEKIHA TENKYO... MEGA FINGAA (MEGA FINGER)! !" he launched his attack and created a giant fiery fist with crimson red Noise energy towards the giant clawless mechanical crabs.
The fiery fist collided on Crabs-Y and pierced through its body, knocking it back to the sea with a big splash. On cue, it caused an enormous explosion in defeat.
*BOOM! !* *KA-BOOM! !*
"YAY! ! MEGAMAN DID IT! !" the girls exclaimed happily in a group hug.
Megaman (Tendou) panted, and glad it was over. He leaped in the air and disappeared.
"You see, San-cho! Is Megaman awesome or what?" she asked her manager with a proud smile, then noticed someone was missing, "Wait a minute, where's Tendou! ?" she looked around, realizing he wasn't around.
The Stelar family noticed this and tried to cover up the boy's identity.
"Well, Misaki, you see, Tendou-" Sonia was cut off as the black-haired girl ran inside the Beach House to search for him. "Misaki, wait!"
Misaki quickly made her way and saw Draco standing in the hallway. "Draco, have you seen Tendou! ?" she asked loudly.
"Misaki, please remain calm." he replied in a polite manner.
"Remain calm! ? There was a giant monster crab outside! How can I-" Before she could finish her sentence, Draco quickly stopped her by placing his right hand on her mouth.
"I recommend you to use your indoor voice." Draco removed his hand from her and slid the door open, "Have a look."
Misaki looked inside the room and paused in complete bewilderment.
And there he was!
Tendou was sound asleep on the floor with soft breathing.
"HUH! ? T-THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! ! HOW IS HE ABLE TO SLEEP PEACEFULLY WITH ALL THE RACKET GOING ON OUTSIDE! ?"
That night
Nagisa set up a barbecue, and the Stelar family brought a few boxes of pizza to share for dinner.
"Well, it's a shame I didn't get the chance to thank Megaman for saving my Beach House. Other than that, thank you for the hard work, everyone! Kanpai (Cheers)!" Nagisa raised a glass of orange juice in the air as everyone complied.
"Today sure was fun!" Sonia said, taking a bit of a hotdog stick, "It's been a long time since we had one."
Satsuki stared deeply at the purple-ish pink-haired mother and tried to remember her, "Hmm, Sonia... seriously, where have I seen you before? It was right at my fingertips, but I can't recall."
"Maybe it'll come to you someday." Sonia giggled.
"Hehehe. Kaa-san was a former famous singer in her preteen, but I'll just keep that to myself." Tendou laughed nervously to himself and took a bit of a slice of pizza in his hand.
"Geez, Tendou, how did you miss your chance to see Megaman's fight again? He is your hero after all, and he was right out there!" Misaki pouted, taking a beef in her mouth.
"Misaki, give Tendou a break." Kelvin patted the black-haired girl's back, "We were the first to come here before you girls."
Satsuki handed a stack of tickets to Misaki, "Here. They're free tickets to the onsen."
"Onsen?" she examined the tickets in her hands.
(Onsen = hot spring.)
"There's one near here. It's within the distance. Let's all go there once we finish eating." the dark purple-haired suggested with a smile.
"No way! I could even take a dip in an onsen? What a fabulous summer this is!" Misaki exclaimed happily with small tears in her eyes.
"Oh my, an onsen? We haven't been there in a long time, right, honey?" Hope asked her husband.
"Yeah, I'd like to go there again."
"How lucky are we, Geo! Tendou, you're our lucky charm!" Sonia gave her son a big hug.
"Kaa-san, not here!"
"This beach is famous for its onsen, too." Satsuki added.
"Really?" Misaki put the tickets in her back pocket and continued to eat her food as Honoka laughed all of a sudden. "Huh? What's the matter, Honoka?" she asked the blonde.
"This beach is also famous for being haunted." Honoka started in a dark tone.
Misaki paused in fright and dropped her food, "H-Haunted?"
"That's right. A couple, who decided to commit suicide together, was going to jump off a cliff. However, the man actually had another girl on the side, so when they were about to jump, the guy let the girl jump by herself, and she went to the bottom of the ocean alone. Several months passed without her body being found. Then, one night, a couple came here... They saw it."
"S-Saw what?" Misaki asked hesitantly with a small gulp, trembling.
"A woman covered in blood, crawling up the cliff at an unbelievable speed!" Honoka answered sinisterly as Misaki pictured the scene in her head, causing her to jump in fright, "Ever since then, there have been poltergeist sightings around that bush. I want to see one, too."
"Th-That's just rumors getting exaggerated."
"That's true, but why do you think it's so famous?" Continuing in her dark tone, Honoka asked with a small laugh, "Because it really happens!"
"Eeehhh!" Misaki's face turned blue from her blonde friend's scary story.
The air was dead silent - except for Tendou, who choked on his pizza he just swallowed from listening to Honoka's haunted story.
Draco quickly refilled his glass of orange juice as the spiky brown-haired drank it.
"Okay! Let's go to the onsen!" Nagisa suddenly proclaimed cheerfully, breaking the silence.
"HAI! !" everyone replied happily.
Misaki looked around in disbelief, "Huh? How are you all not scared of that! ?"
"It's great we can walk there since it's so near!" Erika pointed happily.
"We'll have fun with our girl time!" Satsuki added.
"That's true!" Subaru nodded.
Misaki realized something important was missing as her face turned blue, "Wait a minute! Getting naked! ? They'll see the scar on my back!" she pictured everyone freaking out in terror at the sight of the claw marks on her back. Thinking about it made her no other choice but to skip the onsen. "Umm... Actually, I'll pass." she declined sadly, giving everyone confused looks.
Tendou lowered his eyes in empathy and knew why she refused.
"Eh? Why not?" Satsuki asked.
"It's... I-I don't feel so well."
"Misaki, we won't force you if you don't want to go." Sonia said.
"It's fine, Sonia. I'll watch the shop."
"Okay. Tendou, can you assist her?" Sonia asked her son as he nodded.
And so...
It was just the two of them in the quiet room, sitting on the floor - all alone. Misaki wrapped her arms around her legs, bringing them close to her chest with a depressed look on her face.
All Tendou could do was give her a sympathetic look.
"You okay, Misaki?" he asked softly.
"No, I'm not!" she flustered, "I was so looking forward to it! If it weren't for those stupid monsters that night, I would've gone with them! It's just not fair!" Tendou wanted to comfort her, but couldn't think of any. "Tendou... can I ask you something? Have you and your family ever been to a trip before?" she asked in a sad tone. "Because I haven't gone to one in many years."
"No, we haven't." he answered simply.
Misaki shot her head to him in astonishment. "You've never been to a trip before! ? Not once! ?"
"I don't want to talk about it." the spiky brown-haired replied, and couldn't let her know about it.
Before he became Megaman, his parents didn't have the time to look for a summer vacation due to the missions they had with Ace at WAZA HQ. And after that, he had been fighting crimes nonstop. Without a hero, who would stop them?
You know what they say: crime never sleeps.
"Tell me, Misaki. Is this your first time going to an onsen?" he asked.
"Of course, it is. I rarely get to go to one, so I wanted to enjoy it. But... but... I can't let them see this scar." Misaki buried her head on her wrapped arms, then felt something on her back pocket. She reached to it and gaped at it, dumbfounded. It was the free tickets her manager handed to her earlier! "NOOOOOO! ! I FORGOT I HAVE THEM THIS WHOLE TIME! !"
Tendou shot his head and stood up, "Wait a minute! Aren't those free tickets! ? Without them, everyone will have to pay for it normally!"
Misaki stood up with the tickets in her right hand. "We'll catch them if we run! Tendou, I'll go ahead! You lock the door first!" she stormed off at a quick speed.
"Misaki, wait!"
Misaki ran into the forest and couldn't stop thinking about Honoka's haunted beach story. "Just stay calm, they don't exist. I can't let them pay for something unnecessarily because I'm scared of such a ridiculous thing." she said to herself, then remembered Honoka's line.
"This beach is also famous for being haunted."
"Hehe... All this talk about ghosts. It's not like they actually saw them." she slowed down her pace to catch her breath, "Why would I believe them?"
As the forest was getting darker, a growl was heard all of a sudden. Misaki shivered, wishing it wasn't a wolf. Then, footsteps were heard from behind. Her body trembled and refused to move. She tried to move forward, but her body wouldn't obey her as her heart beating faster and faster. The footsteps were coming closer and closer to her. The black-haired girl forcefully turned herself around and used all her might to strike who was behind her with a swift punch.
Suddenly, a hand caught her fist. It was Tendou with a surprised look on his face.
Misaki was scared stiff with small tears in her eyes. Her legs finally gave up and dropped to her knees, but the spiky brown-haired quickly caught her from falling.
"T-Tendou, you baka!" Misaki grabbed his red Hawaiian shirt and held him tightly, "Don't scare me like that! I nearly had a heart attack!"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to. I managed to lock the doors and chased after you, but you were too fast." he carefully lifted her up, "If you were scared, you should've waited for me instead of running off."
"I'm sorry, Tendou. I thought it'll be faster if I-"
All of a sudden, a growl was heard as the two froze in their spot.
"T-Tendou, please tell me that was your stomach." she pleaded with a fearful look on her face.
"That's not my stomach."
A loud stomp was coming closer, and the growl sounded louder than before. "Grrrrraaaaaaaawwwwwhhhhh... " A figure came through the bush and locked its eyes at its targets.
Widening their eyes, Tendou and Misaki recognized that monster.
It was a Noise Jammer!
"RRRRAAAAAWWWWHHHHH! ! !" it roared menacingly at them.
Tendou quickly shoved her away, "Misaki, run for it!"
"But, what about you! ?" she asked worriedly.
"I'll hold it off! You make sure they get those free tickets!"
"O-Okay!" Misaki turned and complied.
Tendou turned to that Noise Jammer with dagger eyes and reached his right hand to the pocket. His face dropped and couldn't find his Hunter-VG. He reached into another pocket and couldn't find his device until it hit him.
"Damn it! I forgot my Hunter-VG!"
"RRRRAAAAAAWWWWWHHHHH! !" The Noise Jammer pounced at him to the ground with its sharp claws, then struck its right claw at the boy's head. Tendou dodged by moving his head to the right side, letting its right claw hit the ground. Next, it retrieved its right arm and struck its left claw at him, but the boy moved his head to the left.
"Crap! What should I do without my Hunter-VG! ?" he questioned inwardly.
The Noise Jammer prepared to strike both claws at him, but a branch suddenly hit its face as it fell backward.
Tendou turned and saw Misaki, who saved him with a branch in her hands. "Misaki?"
"As if I'd let you fight that monster by yourself! I'm not letting you get killed, Tendou! I don't want you to share the same pain as me!" she stood next to him and formed her stance.
"All right!" Tendou stood up and formed his fighting stance. "Just be careful, Misaki! That monster-" The Noise Jammer changed its right arm into Sword. "-can change its arm into a weapon."
The Noise Jammer took a few steps forward with its threatening growl. The two of them backed up a bit and waited for a chance to counterattack. Suddenly, a pink-flaming blade pierced the Noise Jammer's torso from behind.
"GGRRRRAAAAAAAHHHHH! !" it roared in agony, then another blade struck its chest.
Tendou recognized those pink-flaming sabers and quickly wrapped his arms around the girl, "Misaki, look out!" he shielded her with his body.
On cue, the Noise Jammer exploded in defeat.
*BOOM! !* *KA-BOOM! !*
As the smoke cleared, the two parted and turned to see their savior. Misaki gasped and recognized who it was.
It was Strike Fighter, Megaman's partner!
"Was I interrupting you, Tendou?" Strike Fighter asked, turning off his pink-flaming swords and placing the hilts on his belt.
"Hey, you could at least throw it in the air and let it explode, you know?" Tendou scolded at his friend.
"Sorry, I didn't have time to do that. Also, I haven't seen you in a while. What have you been up to?"
"I transferred school. Things are still the same." Tendou answered dully.
Misaki stared at them in bewilderment with multiple question marks on her head. "What's going on! ? Those two are having a friendly conversation! ? And they know each other! ?"
Strike Fighter noticed a girl next to him and widened his eyes behind his helmet. "Tendou, is she your girlfriend?" he asked.
Misaki immediately blushed at his sudden question.
"HEY! !" the spiky brown-haired flustered with a blush on his face.
"Woohoo! I've got to admit, Dan! She's a real beauty!" a voice spoke out of nowhere.
Misaki blinked in confusion and didn't know where that voice came from.
"Gunner, you weren't supposed to speak!" Strike Fighter scolded to no one.
"My bad."
"You should probably go." Tendou suggested with a small frown before the conversation got worst.
"Yeah, I should. It is getting late. I'll see you around." Strike Fighter spread his large blue wings and activated his thrusters, leaping to the dark sky.
"Come on, let's go, Misaki." Tendou walked ahead.
"Okay." Misaki looked at her right hand and remembered holding his red Hawaiian shirt tightly earlier. A blush appeared on her face as she scratched it lightly, trying to figure out this strange feeling inside her before following him.
Like that, the first day of Maid Latte at the Beach House ended on a warm breezy night.
At the hot spring
"Oh, those tickets are extras." Satsuki explained.
"HUUHH! ?" Misaki gaped in shock, dropping the tickets.
"ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME, MISAKI! ? YOU MEANT TO TELL ME WE CAME ALL THE WAY HERE FOR NOTHING! ?" Tendou barked in disbelief.
"HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THEY WERE EXTRAS! ?"
"Now, now, calm down, you two." Hope placed her hands on their shoulders, "Since we're all here together, let's go enjoy ourselves."
"Sonia, can you tell us about Tendou?" the girls pleaded perkily.
"Kaa-san, don't you dare!" Tendou shouted from the men's doorway.
"Why is there a cosplaying dragon here?" the customers questioned in confusion.
Satsuki and the girls were already enjoying the hot spring, but Misaki was the last one to change her clothes. Placing her orange shirt in the basket, she was afraid to go in with that scar on her back.
She suddenly felt a hand on her left shoulder as she turned to see Tendou's mother.
"Sonia?"
"It's okay, Misaki. I'll cover you. Tendou told me about it." the purple-ish pink-haired gave her a kind smile.
Misaki happily returned the smile and hugged the woman, "Arigato!"
Hope began to share stories with Satsuki and the girls about Tendou in his infanthood. Sonia and Misaki were sitting in the corner.
"Misaki, you've been to WAZA HQ, have you?" the mother asked the girl.
"I did, and I was surprised to find out Tendou work there, too. May I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
"It's been on my mind recently. Why is Megaman's Tendou hero?" the black-haired girl asked.
Sonia grew a small smile on her face and decided to give her little detail about his past. "Before Tendou was born, my husband and I were at the war twenty-three years ago. We told him many stories about Megaman, the StarForce, and the Kamen Rider. Tendou was amazed by our stories. He really respect Megaman the most. Ever since Geo brought him at WAZA HQ, Tendou immediately joined in and had been doing nothing but training so he can be like Megaman."
"Wow. I didn't know." Misaki was astonished to hear Tendou's backstory.
"I am worried about him sometimes. Not a word about this to my son, okay?" she whispered with a wink, "It's our little secret. Oh, and we'll keep your part-time job a secret, too. Tendou already told me about your difficulty when he first met you."
"Yeah, I really appreciate his help. I'm glad he's a nice guy, but he's still a strange one."
"I have a question to ask you. How come you never mentioned your father to Tendou?" she asked softly.
Misaki froze and remembered her mother told her about him when she was very young. She blinked twice and wasn't sure to tell her about it.
"Well, he-"
"TENDOU, WHAT'RE YOU DOING! ? GET BACK HERE! !" Geo's loud voice was heard from the men's area.
"KAA-SAN AND OBAA-SAN HAVE BETTER NOT BE TALKING ABOUT ME! !"
"DRACO, HELP ME OUT! !"
The girls couldn't help but giggled.
"Maybe next time." Misaki suggested with a sign.
"I agree." Sonia nodded.
