Hey if you guys have any better ideas for the name of this fanfiction do tell me, I couldn't think of one at the beginning and that's why it has such a weird one.

The Birthday

We had stopped at some house in Tennessee looking for Ray Sutton. While Stefan and I went inside, Thalia waited in the truck.

As I left the house telling Stefan to kill the blond quickly and her brunet friend slowly. I made my way to the truck. As I got inside, I noticed Thalia was sleeping and sat down on the seat beside her.

As I heard the muffled screams from the girl's house, I looked closely at Thalia. She looked so peaceful in her sleep. She really was a beautiful girl.

She still looked nothing like her mother who was also quite an attractive woman, but Thalia was so much more beautiful than her mother it was hard for me to stop looking at her.

As I watched her, her expression changed. The peaceful look on her face changed to one of fear and her hands gripped the side of her seat until her knuckles turned white. I remembered this, Thalia used to get many nightmares when she was young and how I would sometimes have to stay the whole night to wake her whenever one appeared.

I reached for her shoulder and tried to shake her awake, but it wasn't working, I called out her name softly, hoping that would work and soon her eyes snapped open.

She took in a couple of deep breaths before her eyes landed on me. My body was over her own, which I hadn't realised until now, I guess I was too busy trying to awake Thalia to notice.

As her breathing calmed down her gaze turned away from me and moved my body back to my chair.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

She stayed quiet for a while before responding, looking at me through the corner of her eye. "I'm fine." She muttered. I just carried on starring at her.

"Thalia." She looked at me with a poker face, not even her eyes showed any emotion. "I'm sorry." She started turning away again. "I really am." She stopped moving and turned to me, this time with anger written across her face.

"For what Klaus." She asked me, but before I could answer she carried on. "For leaving me with my abusive mother or maybe for kidnapping me and making me watch my friend kill people."

I wanted to answer her, I really did but I couldn't. We sat there just staring at each other.

"Look I'm sorry for leaving you back then, I had to. Your father made me."

"So, what" she snapped. "He ended up leaving again, why didn't you ever come back?" the lat part was said softly. And I stared at her.

My hand went forward to lay one her cheek. She didn't move away as I had expected her to, instead she let her head lean on my hand, closing her eyes.

"I never had a happy family, so I thought if I could give you that, maybe you would be better off." Her eyes opened again but she didn't move away from my hand.

"All I want is a second chance." She moved away from hand and brought it back to my side. She continued to look at me with a sad look on her face. "Please Thalia. That's all I want, for you to give me a second chance."

"How can you expect me to give you a second chance when you're sending my friend out to kill people?"

I could feel my anger boiling inside me but I didn't want Thalia to see that, still hoping she'd change her mind and I was very grateful when Stefan came back and we could take off, to find Ray Sutton.

I want to give Klaus another chance but how can I when he continuously kills others for no reason.

We arrived at some western bar and waited for Ray Sutton to come. After a while I left to go to the toilet.

When I came back I saw some guy (who I'm guessing was Ray Sutton) pinned to the dart target with darts sticking out of his face.

"What the hell are you doing?" I screamed staring at Stefan and Klaus.

"Trying to find out where his pack is." Stefan answered throwing another dart at Ray, who screamed in agony.

"Ray, you can end this right now. Just tell me where your pack gathers for the full moon." Stefan said ignoring the look Thalia gave him.

"I can't." He replied with clenched teeth.

"I know, I know. You live by code and all that, but see he's not gonna let me stop until you tell me." Stefan pointed at Klaus. "And I do whatever he says so, that's the way it goes around here."

I made my way around Stefan, trying not to look at him and walked towards Klaus.

"Why are you making him do this?" I asked him.

"Because love, I want information from him." He replied with a cold tone. His tone had changed completely than from earlier and I couldn't blame him, he had asked for a chance and I refused him of one, I wouldn't blame him if he never spoke to me again.

I stepped away from him and stood slightly behind him, looking at the ground. A woman walked towards him and started speaking to him.

"Hello mister Klaus. I have some more information for you. You told me to tell you if I saw anything. I saw the guys spotted Damon at the farm house." The woman said to him.

This was bad Damon had been following them the whole time and Klaus had been trying to shake him off our trail but it clearly wasn't working.

"Well thank you Claudine, you'll just tell your friends to keep up the good work or they're gonna watch her." The woman then walked away and Stefan joined us.

"My brother still on our trail?"

"He's getting closer, I'm gonna have to deal with that." Klaus started to move away from us but I grabbed onto his arm.

"What are you going to do, Klaus?" I asked already knowing what he was going to do.

"Let go of me." He replied coldly, a lot different form the tome he used on the woman before. I let go of him, my hand being replaced by Stefan's.

"No, no, no. Let me handle it." He said.

"Why should I let you leave?"

"Cause, you'll know I'll come back."

"Do I?"

I stood there watching their conversation.

"You saved my brother's life; I'm at your service."

"Ah, you sound so tedious and indentured, aren't you even having the least bit of fun?" He pointed at Ray with a smile on his face, ignoring the disgusted look on mine.

"I'll make sure that my brother doesn't bother us anymore." Stefan then walked away, leaving me with Klaus.

It had been hours since Stefan left and now Ray was now on the pool table, he had told us where his pack was but Klaus still didn't let him go.

"Ok, it's a three step process, Ray. This is step one. I want you to drink from my wrist." He started.

"I already told you where to find the pack. What more do you want from me?"

"Have you been listening to a word I've been saying, Ray? I have great plans for you." Klaus then cut his wrist with a knife, placing his bloody wrist at Ray's mouth forcing him to drink.

"You'll thank me for it later, huh. There we go, at a boy!"

"What are you going to do now?"

"It's time for step two, Ray." Klaus placed his hands on either side of Ray's head and snapped his neck, killing him in the process.

I stood there with my back against a wall watching Klaus. He looked up at me his smile quickly vanishing. He started to turn around, towards the bar probably to get a drink but when I spoke up he stopped.

"I want to you know."

He slowly turned a cocky grin on his face an eyebrow raised. "Want to what, love?"

"Give you a second chance." I finished, I started moving towards him watching both the smirk and the eyebrow fall down. "I want to so bad, but I'm scared that you'll leave me again." He used his vampire speed so that he was right in front of me, his arms around my small frame, hugging me close to his body.

"I'll never leave you again." With that I closed my eyes and leaned into the hug, wrapping my own arms around him, my head on his shoulder.

We broke apart when Klaus heard Stefan nearing the bar.

"You're back."

"Did you doubt me?"

His smirk was back. "Not for a second. I knew you'd pass the test. You still care for your brother, for your old life."

Stefan: Nah, I don't care about anything anymore.

"You put on a good show Stefan. I almost believe you. Let's hope, for your brother's sake, he does. You never stop caring about family, do you? But, every time you feed, the blood makes it easier to let go."

"I'm gonna go to the toilet." I gave him a chance but I was still weary, the way he killed people or talked like just now made me feel sick, but I couldn't walk away from him, I always found my mind right back to him.

I stared at myself in the dirty mirror, this was going to be one Hades of a trip.
