Ally's POV
I feel my fangs sprout before I even open my eyes.
The scent tells me exactly where I am, and who I'm with.
"Ethan." My eyes open, and I pounce at his attacker, just before the blade connects with his skull.
We both hit the ground hard, my hand on the blade before it impales Trent's face, right between the eyes.
He stares up at me wildly, and right away it's clear he hadn't expected this outcome.
I can see Ethan watch us, shocked, out of the corner of my eye.
I bar my teeth, hissing.
"You tried to kill him," My voice takes on a tone I would've never thought possible. My own anger radiates from every inch of my body.
And he killed me.
"Ally…you don-"
I thrust forward, and he implodes below me, into a quick surge of blue light.
I drop the knife, and my fangs retract.
"Ally…" Ethan's voice whispers, raw, but I don't turn to him. My breathing is rough.
I just killed someone in cold blood.
"Ally," He tries again, this time more anxious.
My hand forms a fist, and in my mind I can see the light leave his eyes just before he disintegrates.
"Yo…ali…" 'You're alive.' He means.
I finally make myself face him.
"Are you ok?" I ask him, taking a deep breath before forcing myself to stand. I can't help but glance back at the spot on the ground where Trent had once lied.
He nods, though I can read the other emotions there on his face. Fear, shock, pain, relief, and a whole lot more.
I move closer, and free him from the restraints. He watches me carefully the entire time.
"Yo…ave…me…"
I fake a light smile. It fades almost instantly.
"Wait…Where are they…Where's Austin? And Trish and Dez? And Sarah!" My voice rises.
I offer him a hand to stand.
"They…here."
"We need to find them. Jesse will realize that I…" I trail off. He looks up at me, the worry clear. I cough.
"We need to find them before Jesse does."
Sarah's POV
How do you find a needle in a haystack, before you even know where the haystack is?
You call in reinforcements, to help sort through the extra piles.
"I know where that little brat's hiding. We get Anastasia and we're on the fast-track to Ethan and the others," Erica smirks, moving a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"How do you know where she is? She doesn't just give out her address to everyone that asks," Rory questions her. You would think by this point he'd know not to do that, but there he goes.
"Simple, Dork. She taught me herself how to track last summer, before the Lucifractor explosion. She didn't think I'd be able to use it against her…" She smiles back at him, her fangs glistening.
I lean back against the piano, my elbow scrapping a few keys.
"So what do we do? Where is she right now? We need to hurry, before Trent and Jesse can do anymore harm." I ask hastily.
"Wait…Did you tell Benny about any of this? I know you called us because we could get out to Miami fast, but…does he even know that Ethan's gone?" Rory asks me. I guess I've avoided the subject a bit too long.
"No…I don't want Benny involved. Too many people I care about have been hurt already. At least you guys can take care of yourselves. Benny still hasn't learned to cast spells properly…Besides, I think he's busy enough keeping Ethan's parents engaged and-" I look away from them. Erica sighs, placing an arm around me.
"It'll be fine, Sarah. We'll beat Anastasia, Jesse and Trent once and for all. Everyone is going to be alright,"
I smile lightly. Determination fills my heart.
I won't let you guys down.
"So where is she?"
Back to Ally's POV
It shouldn't take this long, but its already been an hour, and we still haven't found any of our friends. Thankfully, Ethan's ability to speak has returned, though he knows as much about their whereabouts as I do.
I can only pray Jesse hasn't yet found out about Trent, and that he hasn't retaliated with Austin, Trish and Dez's lives.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Ethan asks me, for about the millionth time as we cross down the hall. I sigh, but I can't stop myself from the slight shiver that falls down my spine. For a split second I can see the wooden steak above my chest, and can feel it plunge into my heart. And then I see myself standing over Trent in the same exact way, stabbing him with the knife.
"I'm…fine," I say slowly, to steady my emotions. He only nods, even though I know I've yet to convince him of anything.
Self-consciously I begin to walk even faster down the white hall.
"Ally, what happened with Trent…" I flinch at his name. Ethan notices, and grabs my arm.
We stop.
"We need to find them," I push, pulling my arm from his grasp. But I don't move.
"You can't face Jesse when you're still thinking about Trent. What he did to you…" This time he flinches. "Please, Ally. You can't bottle up your feelings like this. It's not healthy…"
"Ethan…I can't let Jesse do to Austin, Trish and Dez what Trent did…what he did to me. Please, can we just…Can my therapy session wait until we find them?" I beg. I can feel the tear slip past my eye. I look away from him.
He sighs. "Ok…Ok let's find them then."
