The trio gasped. Dr. Flurry gasped. Larry-Boy didn't move. It was all too fast. Their eyes were wide with shock as they discovered Larry-Boy's true identity: the clumsy and not-so perfect Larry. It was at that moment that Petunia regretted everything she had said against Larry. Right there, she was now sure of the truth. Deep down, he really was a good guy with a heart of gold. The penguin that pulled out LB's mask dropped it in shock.
"LARRY?!" Bob and Mr. Lunt asked.
"Yeah…" Larry-Boy or Larry sighed.
"But… why? How?" Bob wondered.
"Some things just don't work out how you thought it would be." Larry hung his head.
"So… all this time… the enemy I feared was just a clumsy old employee?" Dr. Flurry snickered. "A hero to the city; a loser in reality."
Dr. Flurry stood on a platform with his three minions by his side.
"Now that I know who Larry-Boy really is, there's no running from me now…" Dr. Flurry threatened.
The platform pushed upwards to the top of Dr. Flurry's spacecraft and the four villains disappeared, leaving the room dark and leaving the five veggies alone in the cold dome-like machine. The trio looked at Larry, but he just looked away in shame.
"Go ahead. Whatever you have to say, say it. I'm a loser, I'm a coward, I'm a wimp… take your pick." Larry muttered.
"You really got fed up to everything I said?" Bob asked.
"Larry-Boy—Larry… I didn't mean to hurt you." Petunia apologized.
"It's okay. I needed to hear it, anyways." Larry mumbled.
"Larry, if you had listened to everything I had said, I would have never been able forgiven myself. But now… I see a true hero. He's not the guy with the mask… he's the guy under the mask. I judged you poorly and I don't have the right to do so. Larry, I'm sorry."
"If it makes you feel any better, you're a better superhero as Larry than as Larry-Boy." Mr. Lunt added.
"And I'm sorry, too… for everything." Bob moaned.
"Thanks, guys. But I feel like I'm defeated. Dr. Flurry knows who I am and we're going to freeze to death. I'm not that kind of hero." Larry whispered.
"Since when, in recorded history, has a superhero deny his famous catchphrase?" Mr. Lunt asked.
"No superhero does that. A superhero's catchphrase is who he really is." Bob encouraged.
"Larry, you are that hero. I don't know whom should I call but God. But Bumblyburg needs a hero. We need a hero. I need a hero. Who else would do that? Larry or Larry-Boy, you still are that hero. You always have and you always will. For that, I'm proud to call you my hero." Petunia remarked.
"So, Larry… what's it gonna be? Who will be our hero?" Bob questioned.
Larry looked at the three and they nodded in encouragement. Petunia smiled at him. Then, Larry looked at his mask. He doesn't need it to be a real hero. Larry's eyes narrowed. His courage gathered and his motivation returned. He lifted his head up, accepting the challenge ahead of him.
"I. Am. That. HERO!" Larry yelled.
Yeah, this chapter's really short. It's only because the next chapters are going to be long... Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it! :3
