The Fete de Benedictions
He descended down the stairs to the party with Elizabeth on his arm. He was dressed in his tuxedo, and she was dressed in a simple emerald green chiffon column dress with several layers of lace. It showed her slender finger, and it complemented her alabaster skin while her shoulders were exposed in a heart-shaped neckline. They could hear the music as the party was in full swing, and the harvest girls accepted gifts that they blessed in return. They then turned to descend another set of stairs – the last one that led straight to the party. But Elizabeth gave his forearm a squeeze, and so he turned to glance at her, only to see a smile on her face.
"Will you finally admit that I was right?" She asked, eyeing the small wooden chest that he held on his other hand. "About that witch friend of yours?" She then moved to stand in front of him, hidden from the eyes of the guests down at the party. That was when her eyes finally landed on him, and a small yet very teasing smile was flashed at him. He rolled his eyes in amusement. He wasn't exactly going to admit that she was right – even though she was – about Genevieve. The distrust he saw in Genevieve's eyes had led her to order a man to get his mother's grimoire for her. But apparently, it was a trap Klaus had set to see whether she did have motives or not. It was obvious enough, though.
"Now is not the time, love…" He said as he gently held her forearm, and led her towards the stairs again.
"But love, now is the perfect time…" She whispered, as she gave another smile, this time towards the guests that were watching them, and whispering about them. "Considering that gift that you're about to offer…" She added and eyed it yet again, but now, he gave her a warning glance.
"And as much as I'd love to see you gloat," He replied calmly, giving a patient smile. "This is not the place, considering the gift that I am about to offer." Now, he smiled wide deviously, as he gave her a warm glance. She returned the same – clearly understanding the fact that they were putting on a show. Once on the last step, she suddenly shifted her hand from his forearm, to his hand, in which she held with an affectionate squeeze.
"Perhaps after, that's when you'll finally admit it." She then said with a saccharine tone, just as Genevieve hovered over them, and they were done with the last step. A slight confused frown was on her face when she saw Elizabeth on his arm, but then, once Elizabeth noticed that he was glancing elsewhere – or have probably read in his mind that Genevieve was coming their way – she turned around, and Genevieve's confused look was replaced with a warm smile.
"Klaus," She greeted. Her red hair was up in a messy side bun, and her black lace dress complemented her pale skin. "I'm glad you could come." The champagne flute she held was already half empty, and while he noticed that, Elizabeth squeezed his hand yet again.
"Well, I couldn't possibly miss this grant event," He then said with a bright yet charming smile. She smiled back with a nod, but he only continued. "Have you met my brother's cousin? She's from our father's side." He asked as he turned to the one beside him. "Elizabeth, this is Genevieve, one of Rebekah's longtime friends." Now though, Genevieve let out a throaty chuckle.
"Oh we weren't exactly friends…" She then said as she held out her hand. "It's nice to finally meet you. I've heard of great things about you since you've arrived in our town." Klaus watched her closely, and knew that this was an act. Genevieve wasn't exactly pleased to see Elizabeth here, considering the so-called "stories" about her that she heard. But apparently, Elizabeth knew that, and she only looked at the extended hand as she gave one of her signature mocking smiles.
"I'm sure it was," Elizabeth practically cooed, as she placed her free hand on his forearm. It took a moment for Genevieve to withdraw her hand as she pressed her lips together and gave a forceful smile. Klaus had to admit that he was enjoying this debacle. As always, Elizabeth's sadistic ways was pushing Genevieve to utter jealousy, who in turn, did not know how to react since she didn't know who Elizabeth really was – other than another Original vampire.
"Well," She breathed as she decided to run her palms on her dress to fix the imaginary creases. Yes, the tension was there as her eyes glanced back at him, before returning to Elizabeth. "If you have any gifts to offer the witches…"
"Yes, of course." Elizabeth interrupted with another saccharine yet sarcastic smile. "We'll get to that in a moment." With a nod though, Genevieve held her glass with both of her hands in front of her.
"Enjoy the evening then..." She then said before she glanced back at Klaus again, who only stared back and gave a faux apologetic smile. That was when she turned to attend to her other guests, who were offering gifts to the three harvest girls, which included the witch Davina. When she was finally out of earshot, Elizabeth moved and stood in front of her.
"Was that completely necessary?" He asked once she stood in front of him and watched her go. But then, she flashed another grin at him once she looked back.
"You know me well enough, Nik, to know that I don't take action blindly." She replied in sheer amusement. Klaus though, couldn't help but smile back. How could he possibly not love Elizabeth? She was absolutely heinous, and she knew how to push people's buttons. There, a waiter passed, and he immediately snatched a drink for the both of them, champagne for her, and scotch for him. "Everything has its own purpose." She then added as she accepted the flute.
"In that case," He said as he swirled his drink around. "You should sign the treaty." The smile disappeared from her lips and she only cocked her eyebrows, clearly not pleased that Elijah had already asked him to persuade her, although what he just stated wasn't exactly in a matter of persuasion. "Considering the fact that you are one not to be taken lightly…" He added with a knowing smirk. There, she shrugged and she gave a playful smile.
"Well, if you put it that way…" She said, as a finger traced along the rim of her champagne flute. "Then perhaps I shall." She gave him a full smile as she brought it to her lips. "I could see why they'd take me as a threat." He then raised his glass to her, and she clanked it towards his. Together, they drank until their glasses were empty.
Elijah watched them closely, whispering and caressing ever so slightly, he could almost believe that it was all true. But it's not. This was all an act – Elizabeth's act, for some unknown yet obviously selfish reason. Yes, she was sabotaging her relationship with Damon, and using their family as an excuse to not deal with her emotions. But what was her other agenda?
That was what he was trying to figure out.
"That's her, isn't it?" He suddenly heard Hayley beside him. "Elizabeth." He turned to her slightly and gave a nod. But then, he turned back to watch them.
"Yes," He then replied, seeing Klaus chuckle as Elizabeth continued to talk.
"She looks..."
"Beautiful, yes..."
"Stunning."
Elijah gave Hayley a faint smile before he glanced back. Just then, Klaus glanced at them with a smile. Elijah, however, only looked back at him, since it was clear that it was Elizabeth who knew that he had been watching. So he turned to Hayley.
"I think it's time that you finally meet her." He then said with a smile. "Now under better circumstances, of course." Hayley arched her brows and scoffed in amusement as her gaze landed back on them. There, he offered her a hand. "Shall we?" Hayley gave a nod and he led them towards the odd couple – Klaus and Elizabeth.
"Elijah," Elizabeth gave him an expectant smile just as they were only a few steps away. "And I thought you'd spent most of the evening watching us like a hawk." She then gave him a piercing gaze, clearly indicating that she hadn't exactly forgotten their little debacle a few days ago. Yet, Elijah gave her a tight but gracious smile.
"Well, cousin, you've definitely made quite an impression, especially to my brother's friend, Genevieve." There, he gave a nod towards Genevieve's direction, standing by the far end of the room, where the other witches waited for more gifts to be received. But Elizabeth didn't follow his gaze. In fact, she only smiled.
"I believe I did, didn't I?" She said as Klaus took her empty champagne flute and placed them on a passing waiter's tray, while getting another two for the both of them. "If it makes you feel any better," Klaus then quietly offered her the flute, in which she accepted with a grateful smile. "Your brother here has convinced me to sign that treaty of yours." She then sipped, as Hayley gave his forearm a gentle squeeze, which made him realize that he was supposed to introduce her. For a moment, Elizabeth served as a distraction – simply annoying him in the process.
"I reasonably pointed out to her that she was a threat to the other communities." Klaus then chimed in with an easy smile. But Elijah didn't find this all too amusing. He only gave them a forceful smile.
"Well, I'm glad that you've finally thought it over." He then addressed Elizabeth, who only arched her eyebrows. "And considered my piece…"
"Oh I did," She then interrupted. Her smile then suddenly faded, as quickly as it was brought up. "But I should probably make you recall the last time you've forced me to do you a favor; we both know how that ended." Her gaze hardened as she directly looked at him dead in the eyes. He knew perfectly well what she meant. It was five hundred years ago, when he had asked her to try and help him save Katherine. She ended up compelling her and making her turn into a vampire – which resulted into Katherine running from Klaus for hundreds of years until today. And it was the same thing that he had asked from her: to have a change of heart.
There, his gaze hardened at her as he clenched his jaws, just as her gaze landed at Hayley with another smile that resembled a Cheshire cat's.
"And you must be Hayley…" She practically cooed. Somehow though, Klaus sensed the tension between them, and so he gently held Elizabeth on her arm. "I apologize for that unfortunate first meeting. It's lovely to finally meet you." She then gave a sweet smile, and Hayley only gave her a faint one. He knew that Hayley didn't exactly trust her, and she was right not to.
"Nice to meet you too," Hayley replied, but then, she saw Jackson gesturing for her with a nod. "Excuse me," She said, before she slipped away from Elijah and approached him. Once she was out of earshot though, Elijah finally glared at Elizabeth.
"You wouldn't…" He knew that what she had said earlier was a clear indication of her plans to possibly kill her or even make her life a living hell. And he wouldn't let her do that. She'll have to go through him first before she will ever lay a hand on Hayley. But instead, Elizabeth let out a throaty chuckle.
"Oh don't worry, cousin…" She now said in utter amusement as she brushed a hand on his tuxedo-clad arm. "I won't touch her. You have my word…"
"Sweetheart, it's time." Klaus quietly said to her as he held his champagne flute. Elizabeth only nodded, and he narrowed his eyes. What was his brother talking about? Were they planning something? Elijah had this urgency to know. He wouldn't let the treaty be broken, considering the fact that the members of communities were here tonight, celebrating with much respect to the witches. He wouldn't let all that he had worked for for peace go down the drain.
"What is this?" He immediately asked. But Elizabeth smiled at him in reassurance, giving his arm a gently squeeze as she moved beside him. Her emerald green dress fluttered slightly behind her, as she made each graceful stride. She then wrapped her arm around his, and brought the flute to her lips.
"You'll see…" She replied quietly and mysteriously. He looked at her with heavy suspicion, but then, she only watched his brother, move towards the hall near the stairs, where two people were talking privately. Elijah narrowed his eyes, knowing that familiar orange red dress, and the man in front of her. He then stepped in front of Elizabeth, with a firm hold on her arm.
"Tell me." He firmly replied with his tone low and even. But Elizabeth arched her brows as she sipped. "What is this that both of you are planning now, Elizabeth?"
"I'm afraid I can't say…" She quietly replied with a shrug. He then gave her a firm squeeze, and hardened his gaze at her with his jaws clenched. He will not tolerate her any longer – if they were planning on destroying this peace treaty that he had worked so hard on. If this was yet another selfish scheme of hers, he'll make sure that these plans of hers will be stopped as soon as possible. He'll make sure of that.
"You can," He warned her with a darting glare. "And you will…" She glared back as a bitter smirk replaced on her lips before she firmly removed his hand away from her arm, almost crushing his bones in the process. But since he was another Original, it didn't do much damage, except probably a bit of some bruise. He inhaled deeply because of the pain.
"And you resort to threatening… Me, of all people." She then said with a mocking scoff. "When apparently, I'm the one considered as the threat."
"You are." He muttered under his breath. "And that is why I have to make sure that there is nothing up in your sleeve that would destroy the…"
"The treaty you've worked so hard on." She finished for him with a nod as she rolled her eyes away from him. "I know. You've been thinking about that all night. It's getting quite boring."
"Perhaps cousin," He now said as he raised his chin. "You should learn how to respect other people's privacy."
"Perhaps if your father hadn't used me as a weapon against his offspring almost a thousand years ago, then maybe I can consider that." She now gave him a piercing gaze, looking at him directly in the eyes, and challenging him to go toe to toe with her as she always did. "But apparently, I cannot take back what has already happened. So perhaps you should blame your father for this." For a moment, they held each other's glares, one daring the other to take it to the extremes. If only he could, but he would never resort to violence much like she and Klaus did. What more if it was in a party such as this?
Just then, Elijah saw Elizabeth's gaze shift behind him as a slow smirk played along her lips. The glare was gone, and so, Elijah turned only to see his brother holding Josh, the vampire, behind the neck by his shoulder. He let him go as he descended the stairs for a few steps just as Josh stood by it and Davina, the witch watched with a stricken expression on her face, watching Klaus' every move. The guests all turned to him, however.
"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please." Klaus announced with his arms spread open. Once the guests have died down and all eyes were on him, he continued. Elijah wasn't exactly thrilled as he moved to stand beside Elizabeth and watched this whole thing unfold. "We are gathered here today to pay homage to our beloved witches." He then raised an index finger. "But one very special witch has been utterly ignored…" He descended down the stairs as he retrieved a small gift from his trousers' pocket and reached out to give it to Davina. "That seems a little unfair to me." With that, he arched his eyebrows, expecting for her to accept his gift. The little witch however, frowned upon it.
"No…" She then said. "I don't want your gift." Elijah shifted his feet, suddenly suspicious of what his brother was going to do as he gave a quick glance at Elizabeth, who was sipping on her flute, ready to stop Klaus if he was going to attack the witch. But that didn't come. Instead, Klaus remained to offer it to her.
"I understand," He gave a nod, "Why you would reject me given our past." There, he put it down as he addressed all the guests that were watching closely. "In truth, many of us here today have been wronged in the conflict which my brother's treaty ended." He pointed at Josh as he addressed Davina again. "Your friend Josh was involved in a plot to kill me. It would be well within my right," He took a step down on the stairs, to stand by Josh. "To execute him, here and now." Elijah inhaled deeply, expecting the worst case scenario, waiting for the moment for him to pounce and stop his brother. "But," Just then, Klaus raised another index finger upwards. "In the spirit of solidarity, and for your favor Davina, I hereby pardon him." He waved his hand at Josh with a smile, in which the vampire looked absolutely relieved to know that. And there, his hand landed on Josh's shoulder. "Josh," Klaus continued. "From this day forward, you have nothing to fear from me." And yet again, he turned to Davina and offered his small gift, wrapped with a purple ribbon. "Please…"
And slowly, Davina took it from his hand with a suspicious glance at Klaus. But with a victorious smirk, Klaus turned to Genevieve, who didn't look all too pleased with this, only glared back at him before turning away. The smirk turned to Elizabeth, who smiled at him. And when Elijah laid his suspicious glance at her, that smile of hers was directed at him. She then wrapped an arm around his as she leaned closer to whisper in his ear.
"See?" She said. "You have nothing to worry about." But still, Elijah glared.
"We'll see…"
"I hope I have my good underwear on..."
Elena came in only to see a half-naked Damon, unbuckling his belt and zipping down his pants, with three girls giggling and were already half-naked too. She frowned at the sight, when Damon flashed his two-hundred fifty kilowatt smile at her. "Hello, Elena..." He said, as if he was trying to taste her name while it rolled down his tongue. "We're just playing strip poker. Care to join us?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Thanks, but I... I was just getting my jacket." Elena muttered, running a hand on her forehead and closing her eyes because she sounded like an idiot. Damon only shrugged with much indifference as he slightly pursed his lips.
"Suit yourself..." And then he waved his fingers at her as the girls giggled again. Elena didn't mind them at all too much, and only decided to give a nod before rushing up the stairs to Stefan's room. When she got there, she immediately took her phone out from her pocket and called Stefan.
He picked up on the first ring.
"Hellooo…" He answered in a sing song voice. And there, she began rambling.
"Stefan, there are half-naked girls prancing around the house, playing strip poker with a half-naked Damon that smells like booze all over..." Elena muttered in a hushed tone as she opened the faucet in the bathroom for Damon not to overhear. "This is insane. It's as if he turned it off..."
"So he finally showed up after disappearing for the day..." Stefan commented on the other end as Elena glanced at herself in the mirror.
"Yes," She breathed. "I don't know if that's a relief or what because after our talk this morning, it seems as if I've pushed him too far." She heard Stefan sigh. He was at the Grill with Caroline and Bonnie, and she decided to get the jacket all by herself using Stefan's car – which was fun to drive, by the way. But she knew that when she saw that black Hummer with illegally black tinted windows, that he was here.
She should've expected this, huh?
"It's not your fault." He said. "He's been that way for a century. You only did the right thing." Elena inhaled deeply and nodded.
"Just let him be, Elena!" She suddenly heard Caroline shout on the other end, which made her smile. "It's his fault for even liking an Original! He knew what he was getting into." Elena laughed quietly. And although, Caroline had a point, and she already knew that, she couldn't help but feel concerned. She didn't want Damon to have another downward spiral.
"They're right you know..." Elena nearly jumped and nearly dropped the phone, but with her vampire speed, she caught it in midair and pressed it against her ear.
"I have to go..." She muttered under her breath and clicked off. Damon stood by the doorway of the bathroom, with blood dripping from the sides of his mouth, down to his chin and chest. His red eyes stared at her with his fangs bared. She quickly turned off the faucet, and heard down at the parlor that the girls were eerily silent... It was obvious that they're already dead. "You can't hurt me, Damon." She replied warningly as her gaze hardened. But instead, his features returned to normal, and he gave her another smile.
"So?" He asked and raised a brow. "I could still hurt you, Elena. Even if you're a vampire now..." He then took a step forward, which made her step back. "I could rip that heart of yours out that chest within a blink of an eye... It wouldn't hurt much, but there's always another option, which is to torture you, bleed you out, weaken you with vervain, or I can take that daylight ring and make you burst into flames under the sunlight." She glared at him.
"You wouldn't..."
"Oh I would..." He gave a nod. "It'll be very easy."
"No..." She now said firmly. "You wouldn't, because you care about me, Damon. And you can try and hide that all you want, but hurting me could destroy you." He laughed. He genuinely laughed at her face as he took another step forward. It could be a beautiful sound, but somehow, it frightened her. Damon was more unstable than he was this morning and it was all her fault. How could she possibly fix this?
"What makes you think that you have that much of a hold on me, Elena?" He now asked in sheer mockery – which reminded Elena of someone.
Elizabeth.
"I don't care about you..." He winced as he emphasized this and scrounged his nose. "I never had in a long time!" He raised an index finger. "So don't think that I wouldn't hurt you and give the slightest damn if my brother would hate me in the end." She shook her head, unable to accept those things that he said. She was unwilling to believe that he really was a monster.
"This isn't you, Damon..." With her hand behind her back, she put her phone into silent, and called Stefan. Damon wouldn't hear that she was calling him, and if he picked up. "You're hurt... I get it. But don't let your emotions make you what you are not."
"And what am I, Elena?" He glared as he raised his bloody chin. She shook her head instead to answer his question. "A monster?" He stepped forward again, and this time, he finally grabbed her, then turned her around with his arm was around her neck. "I've been one for a long time..." There he grabbed her phone. "Get here soon, Stefan. There might be another dead one here in the house." When he clicked off, Elena immediately elbowed him on his abdomen and ran like hell with her vampire speed.
"Well done…" Elizabeth commented with a smile as Klaus walked towards her with a knowing smirk. She held onto her flute that was already half empty, watched him closely with his scotch at hand and stood beside her. "Now… For that other thing." She now spoke quietly and arched her eyebrows.
"I assure you that that will be done after the party." He replied, and there she eyed Elijah who was speaking to some unknown creature, so her gaze was directed back at him. He grazed his hand by her elbow as he moved to stand in front of her. "Everything is going precisely well." She smiled wider at him.
"And will you finally admit that I'm right, since you've dodged that question ever since we've arrived?" She asked, raising an inquisitive eyebrow. "You do know that I'm waiting – patiently, may I add." He then let out a throaty chuckle as he shrugged playfully.
"Oh sweetheart…" He then commented in sheer amusement. "Don't hold your breath." There, she rolled her eyes as she brought her flute to her lips and sipped afterwards. This so-called fete was absolutely boring. Apparently, Genevieve deliberately let the witch Davina be ignored as some sort of way to humiliate her and to teach her a lesson. It was a pathetic lesson, since she also confided in that other harvest girl Monique. There were many ways to teach a girl a lesson about loyalty. But either way, considering Genevieve and who she was and what her past was, Elizabeth knew that she wasn't exactly too pleased with Klaus appearing at her party with another woman in his arm. It was quite amusing, too, because as always, Elizabeth had already expected this kind of reaction.
It was all too predictable.
"Of course," She replied. Klaus continued to smile, clearly working his charms on her. "Why should I be surprised?"
"You know me well…" He then added with a nod and gave her a kiss on her cheek. Suddenly though, they heard drums playing, and men clad in all-white suits started descending down the stairs. They were the ones who were playing the drums in front of them. Klaus then moved beside her, amused by the performance. Elizabeth however, narrowed her eyes at them, trying to know what this was all about. But she only found that their minds were in a deep haze. They then finished the performance after a few moments after they've finally landed from the last step.
"Happy fete de benedictions!" The man situated in the middle front announced. "We have a message for all of you…" He waved his hand towards the guests, and Elizabeth only tilted her slightly as she now knew that the men were actually compelled. "From Marcel Gerard." And there, the smiles on everyone's faces faded. Elizabeth glanced at Klaus, whose amusement turned into a hardened gaze at the men. That was when they simultaneously took out Swiss army knives from their pockets, and raised them up before slashing their wrists.
Everyone was in awe… Except for her.
The vampires however, that were lurking around as guests from Diego's side, immediately revealed their features once they caught the sight and the smell of blood. Elijah then went in front with a confused expression on his face before he turned to face all of them with a raised index finger. "You will control yourselves," He then said, warning them. But the vampires didn't seem to waver. They were starving after all, Elizabeth knew. "This is a vulgar trick." Elijah continued when he saw that the vampires weren't exactly listening. "We do not violate our agreement!"
Then the lights went out.
The vampires attacked the men, taking advantage at the chance to feed. The guests screamed as they immediately ran for the exit. The harvest girls were taken someplace safe, as she and Klaus only watched the scene unfold with his hand at the small of her back in his way to protect her and be ready to pounce if anyone was stupid enough to attack them. Elijah however, looked for Hayley with much urgency but within a matter of a few moments though, the men were finally dead, and the lights were turned back on. The vampires were nowhere in sight, as the other guests continued to run for their lives. Elizabeth caught sight of Hayley and so did Klaus as she was tumbled over on the floor. She looked for Elijah just as Klaus was about to step in, but of course; he got there first and helped her up. But she wasn't paying much attention to them as she glanced at Klaus, who managed to glance back at her. And there, she gave a nod towards the wall where it was written in blood…
"THERE WILL BE NO PEACE."
Klaus gave her a glare as he shook his head in fury. But instead, she gave him a devious smile. She moved to stand in front of him as she affectionately brushed a hand on his cheek. "I'll take care of it." She then said softly and gave a quick yet tender kiss on his lips. Their gazes were locked for a few moments, before she handed him her champagne flute. And with one last glance, she disappeared to head straight to Marcel.
"Blood on the wall, pile of bodies… All in all, I'd say message received."
With her heels clicking on the ground, she overhead Marcel and his best friend – or right hand man – Thierry talking about the plan, if everything was a success. Elizabeth couldn't help but smirk at this. If this was Marcel's petty little plan to try and disrupt Elijah's treaty, not to mention, try and disregard what she had offered her earlier today, then he was more of an idiot than ever. So she stepped forwards and stopped a few yards away from where they both stood, as she smiled before she interrupted.
"And that was a bold move…" She then said which made them turn to look at her. Just then though, they heard a scream echoing through the walls. Elizabeth immediately knew who it was though. She wasn't entirely surprised.
"MARCEL!" Then, Thierry was thrown on the grown with a thud. She only rolled her eyes however.
"Elijah, I've got this." She said. That was when he appeared in front of Marcel, and grabbed him by the neck. He then pushed him at a metal pole, holding him by his collar with his forearm by his neck. "This does not concern you…" She added, standing there and watching them rather in boredom. She wasn't at all impressed or threatened neither by Elijah nor by Marcel. But, apparently, she could see how Marcel was struggling in Elijah's hold.
"Apparently, it does…" Elijah replied with his voice low and even,, before he addressed the man in front of him. "I warned you, and yet still you've returned to the French Quarter."
"If you're gonna kill me, Elijah," Marcel breathed as he scrounged his nose with a glare. "Then go ahead. But I'm sure if Klaus finds out; he won't be speaking to you for it."
"Do you not know me?" Elijah asked with his jaw clenched in fury. And that was when he plunged his hand through Marcel's chest to grasp his heart. Marcel shouted in pain just as Thierry got up again. But that was when she decided to intervene. As much as she would enjoy watching Elijah kill Klaus' cocky so-called prodigal son, she took a step forward.
"Elijah, enough!" She now warned him. "I'll handle this." But then, Elijah only glared at Marcel when all of a sudden Thierry came to charge behind him. Elijah then pulled out his hand from Marcel's chest and Elizabeth knew that he was going to plunge his hand at Thierry's to finally end him as a punishment to Marcel's violation. She immediately pushed Thierry out of the way, and Elijah's hand was only in midair, expecting that it would be in Thierry's by now. There, when he fell with a thud again on the ground, Elijah turned only to see her standing a step away from his hand. He gave her a hardened gaze as he frowned in slight confusion.
"What are you doing?" He asked, clearly not pleased with the intervention. But instead, she gave him a piercing gaze.
"You were not listening, dear cousin." She replied, as Marcel stared back at her with Elijah still holding him in place. He turned to glance back at him with a warning stare to not try anything to break free. "I have told you that this does not concern you. I shall take care of this, you have my word." He turned to look back at her and stared at her for a moment, before roughly letting Marcel go. With that, Elijah stepped towards her to withhold their glares for a moment or two.
"Make sure that you do," He then said with another warning, knowing that he wasn't pleased with her either, considering their debacle a few days ago and the treaty in which she refused to sign at first. But she gave him a serious nod, before he gave her one last glance and then disappeared. When he did, she saw Marcel breathing heavily, knowing he could've died at that very moment – and so did his best friend.
"You're going to thank me for that later…" She then said to him with a smile, when she suddenly decided to go for Thierry and had an arm around his neck with his back turned to her, as she dug her fangs. While she drank, she heard Marcel come towards her.
"No!" He shouted, but she immediately got them towards the roof, in which she finished him off and ripped his head off, making it land in front of where Marcel stood. "NO!" With another swift yet very graceful movement, she was suddenly standing in front of him. "No, no, no…" He paced uneasily.
"For violating Elijah's treaty…" She then said as she glared at him. "And for trying to stand against us." Marcel breathed heavily as he glared at her. He took a step forward before he uneasily took another step back, knowing that he was no match against her. She continued to smile and spoke in a sweet tone, as if she was talking to a child. In Marcel's case, he might as well be… "Didn't I already tell you? If you do not stand with us, then you are against us." She took a step closer to him. "Let this be a lesson to you, Marcel. You've already made up your mind this morning; it was very idiotic of you to defy us tonight. And I'm telling you Marcel, that if you ever try this again, you will end up just like your best friend." She now smiled wider as she arched her eyebrows matter-of-factly and shook her head in fake dismay. "And I'm not the patient kind. If you can get away from Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah, then you certainly cannot get away from me."
With one last smile and a mocking yet victorious look, she finally disappeared.
"Left without my offering…" Klaus suddenly appeared just as Genevieve landed after the first staircase. She however, did not exactly look all too pleased to see him. In fact, she gave him a hardened gaze. He wasn't fazed however, as he held that white wooden box – the same box that he held earlier once he and Elizabeth entered the party. He set it aside though, since he wanted to have a chance alone with Genevieve, such as this circumstance.
"Your vampires ruined my party." She then replied, rather in annoyance. He then slightly shook his head.
"Well they're not my vampires anymore, love." He said, and arched his eyebrows matter-of-factly afterwards, as he glanced back downstairs to where the vampires had murdered the white-suited men. "Although Marcel certainly took a page out of my book of dramatic effect," He added, and then glanced back at her, and saw that she still wasn't pleased. "Look," He then said. "I owed Davina some consolation because I killed her first love. I do try to make up for my wrong doings." He shrugged, and saw that she was trying to soften a little, judging by the expression on her beautiful face. "As with the fact that you finally met Elizabeth earlier, so… Here." And there, he reached the box towards her with both of his hands. She accepted it with both of her hands. "I've picked it out earlier tonight; a friend of yours gave me a hand." She glanced at the box before looking back up at her.
"And what friend was that?" She asked. He then reached towards the lid with a small smile.
"Well open it…" He said. "See for yourself." And there, he fully opened it for, which revealed a pair of hands that was once owned by that man she had ordered to get Esther's – his mother – grimoire back at the compound. Genevieve instantly knew whose hands it was, and she gasped in surprised, but quickly recovered. A hardened expression washed over her face, but Klaus was no longer playing either. "Did you really think that I would leave my mother's grimoire unprotected?" She closed the little chest again as she glared at him.
"A century ago, I dreamed of what it would be like to know you… Now I'm glad I didn't." She then said, with her voice low and even. "I might have been naïve enough to fall for you, or fear you, but I learned a lot in death. And trust me, Klaus Mikaelson. It's you who should be afraid of me."
"Pity," Klaus replied in sheer mockery just as Genevieve turned and began to descend the stairs. He then added. "I will miss the sex." He smiled teasingly. She glared at him.
"I will make sure, in every power that I can muster," She then replied with her nose scrounged in anger. "To make your life a living hell, Klaus. Remember that." And there, she turned to finally leave. But Klaus knew that he was still victorious because whatever Genevieve was planning, he's got something to counter her.
And that was Elizabeth.
