Everything will finally be revealed to the other rangers in this chapter. Yes, shit will hit the fan, hence the longer chapter. Hope you enjoy.
Within the blink of an eye, Kimberly was back to the command center.
"Kimberly?" Zordon asked, his voice sounding odd as it was tinged with an emotion she had never once heard from him before; shock.
"Ay yi yi, Kimberly" she heard, as she felt small metal arms wrap themselves around her waist.
"Hey Alpha" she smiled down at the small robot.
"Kimberly, how did you escape?" She heard Zordon ask from above her.
She looked back up at her mentor. His concerned face was clearly visible. "I didn't"
"What?"
"Can you get the others here?" Kimberly asked.
"Of course, Kimberly," she heard Alpha say as he tottled over to one of the consoles and pressed a few buttons.
Only seconds later, she heard pounding footsteps coming from the stairs that led to the lower chambers (and their living quarters) below the command center.
She saw Jason stop at the entrance to stare at her. He must have been sleeping there in case they got any news about her. She watched his eyes give her a full once over as if they couldn't believe what they were seeing. Then without a word, he launched himself at her, his hands wrapping like a vice around her, his head resting on top of her own.
"Kim…" She heard him whisper into her hair.
Kim, not knowing what to say, wrapped her arms around him to give him a loose hug.
"I wasn't sure I'd ever see you again."
"Well I'm back now" She answered.
"Did he do anything to you?"
Kimberly didn't even know how to begin to answer this question. Over his shoulder she saw flashes of first blue, then yellow and black light.
She pulled away from Jason as her friends materialized.
"Kim!" She heard Trini shout, before she was once again engulfed in a set of arms, this time those of her best friend.
"You're back!"
"Yeah, I am."
It was at this moment, she heard her mentor once again speak from above them.
"Kimberly, I am glad you are back, but you said something most troubling when you arrived. Now that your friends and teammates are here, I really would like to return to the conversation."
She dropped her arms and stood to face her friends.
"Can't this wait Zordon?" She heard Jason ask, "We don't even know if she's okay yet?"
"Jason, I'm fine." She answered. "Zordon's right I need to—"
"But Kim—"
"Why don't I commence a physical while she tells us what's going on?" Billy suggested, knowing that they were fast approaching an impasse.
"Fine, whatever" Kimberly answered as she saw Billy pull out a hand-held scanner and immediately begin his once over of her. He was currently scanning her ankles.
"So what is it?" Zack asked.
"Kimberly" Zordon began. "When you arrived, you said you didn't escape. Please explain."
She looked at her friends as their faces turned from relieved to confused.
"Tommy let me go."
"What?" She heard Jason ask. "That doesn't make any sense."
"Yeah" Zack agreed. "I mean why did he have you up there in the first place if he was just going to let you go?"
"He had been keeping me locked up and he had my coin in some weird thing that keep feeding me random small bursts of power so I was conscious, but unable to teleport or communicate with you guys."
Billy who was now up to her waist looked over his shoulder to Alpha. "That explains those peculiar spikes we were receiving of her vitals."
Alpha nodded.
"Please continue" Zordon prompted.
"Anyway, apparently the other monsters knew something was up and came to check on us. Goldar found u— me and threatened to kill me."
She chewed on her lip as she glanced quickly over to Jason to see if he had noticed what she had almost just given away. His face was straight; his eyes on her.
She looked back at the rest of her team, all except Billy who was scanning her forehead.
"Goldar was seriously pissed. He kept going on about how he had betrayed Rita to follow Tommy and how Tommy wasn't following through. Tommy fought him and Goldar left. That's when Tommy teleported me back and gave me back my coin."
"Where is Tommy now? What is he planning?" Zordon asked.
"I don't know."
"Done" She heard Billy say before setting the scanner down and moving away from Kimberly.
"And…?" She heard Jason ask concerned.
"Calm down, buddy" Billy chuckled. "She's fine. No detriment to her health from being devoid of her coin. Whatever Tommy did, it didn't cause any issues."
Jason let out a sigh of relief.
"So what does this mean, Zordon?" Trini asked. "What's going to happen now?"
"I don't know yellow ranger." He responded. "Unfortunately, I think we will have to wait to find out."
Trini nodded.
"Because of this," Zordon turned in his time warp to face all of them. "I want you all to remain here in the command center until we determine what the enemy's next move is."
"What about school?" Billy asked. "They'll notice if we are continually absent."
"Dude, it's spring break. Chill out." Zack replied. "You nerds and your school…"
"Oh…yeah" He replied.
Kim shook her head and chuckled. It felt good to laugh. She knew that she wouldn't be laughing here soon.
"It is late rangers," Zordon said. "Please get some rest so you are prepared. We don't know what is coming."
They nodded as they were dismissed and headed out of the command center and down the stairs.
"Goodnight, guys" Kimberly called to Trini, Zack, and Billy as they all reached their respective rooms.
"It's good to have you back Kim." Trini said from her doorway.
"Indeed." Billy responded also standing in the entryway of his own quarters.
"Guys, seriously, I know we're all glad she's back, but I need some sleep. It's like 3 in the morning," Zack said. Without another look back, he slammed his door shut without even bothering to turn on the light to see where he was going.
Billy and Trini laughed as they closed their doors and shut off their lights, too.
Kim reached her own door and entered—knowing without even looking—that Jason would follow her in. She closed the door as Jason sat on her bed, waiting for her to crawl in with him. She turned to face him.
"Tell me, are you truly okay?" He asked.
"Yes, I really am fine."
"Then why won't you let me touch you? And why were you practically gnawing your bottom lip off when you told us what happened up there."
Kim turned away to face the wall. He hadn't wasted any time, but she should have known she couldn't hide anything from Jason. They knew each other too well. They had loved each other too long.
She let out a sigh before turning back to face him sitting on her pink comforter.
"This isn't easy for me to say."
"He did do something to you didn't he?"
Kim nodded unable to form the words to tell Jason what had happened.
"Kim just tell me. He clearly had a reason for taking you and it wasn't just to let you go."
Kim turned away from Jason and shook her head unable to speak.
"Did he touch you?"
She turned back around still unable to say the words to tell the man she had loved that she had betrayed him. But, she needn't have said anything. Jason could read the truth on her face.
"I'll kill him." He said in a voice Kim had never heard him use before. A low sound that sent chills up her spine.
"Just tell me the truth, I need to know."
Kim sat down next to Jason. She took a breath before she began. "Promise me you'll let me tell you everything before you say anything else?"
Jason nodded, his jaw set tightly; his eyes looking into hers seemingly on fire.
"The first time was at the park when I went to meet him after he almost killed you. He kinda forced himself on me, but"
Jason breathed deeply. Kim could tell he wanted to say something, to punch something, but he kept his promise to hear her out.
"Then when he was….god I can't even say it…when he was inside me, he used what he was making my body feel against me. I mean it felt good, I couldn't help it."
Jason's fists were clenched tight, his fingers a ghostly white. He wasn't looking at her anymore, but down at his hands.
Kim took another breath before continuing.
"The second time was when he took me. We had just made it to the moon. He took my coin and put it in that terrible device. I felt horrible, one second fine, the next drained. He kissed me and the next thing I knew he was on top of me, and then inside me…" Kim trailed off.
Jason took this opportunity to speak. "Kim based on what you said; he used your own body against you. You felt things…" He paused and swallowed hard. His hands shook. "You felt things you hadn't felt before. I'm sure it felt good, but it's not your fault." He took her hands in his. He didn't speak for several minutes. "Just tell me it's over." Jason said quietly looking back at her. "Tell me it didn't mean anything. I mean it'll take some time…the bastard took your virginity, but I know I can forgive you."
Kim looked at the man she had loved. The man she trusted her life to on a daily basis for years now.
Kim looked away. She pulled her hands out of Jason's and rose from the bed. She paced back in forth in the small space.
"What?" Jason asked.
"Jason" she breathed, knowing the next words out of her mouth were going to break the man's heart. "I can't."
"What? Why Kim?"
"Remember when I said that Goldar found me and he freaked?"
"Yeah, so?
"He found me with Tommy." She could tell by the look on Jason's face he still didn't understand what she meant.
"There was one more time. It was earlier tonight." Kim swallowed not looking at Jason. "I had every opportunity to stop it. He didn't force me. But I didn't want to stop." She paused. "I…I have feelings for him."
She finally took this moment to look back at Jason. He didn't say anything for the longest time. He didn't even move. Finally—Kim wasn't sure how long it had been—he took his hands and placed them over his eyes before moving them slowly up his forehead to hold his head in his hands. He was staring at the floor refusing to even look in her direction. "God, I'm such a fucking idiot."
"Jason—"
"Don't Kim—Just don't." He said finally looking up at her. "I knew there was something there. I just told myself not to believe it. All those times you two spent time together; were at that stupid lake..."
Kim chewed on her bottom lip. She never knew he had suspected anything. She hadn't even been sure at first how she had felt back then.
"When he became evil, I thought—" Jason laughed darkly shaking his head. "I thought I had nothing to worry about anymore, there was no way you would want someone like that. Didn't mean I didn't think about how destroying him would be two birds one stone, but still."
Kim couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth. "He was your friend Jason."
Jason stood now, getting within inches of her. "He's tried to kill us…all of us. Almost has. What kind of friend is that?"
"I know—" She started before Jason cut her off.
"And by the way friends don't try to fuck each other's girlfriend."
Kim flinched at the harsh words. "Jason, I'm sorr..."
"Don't say you're fucking sorry." Jason pointed a finger at her backing away towards the door. "Clearly you're not. Hope you enjoyed what time with him you had because if Goldar isn't killing him right now…I will."
With that Jason stalked out of the room, slamming the door so hard the picture hanging on the wall fell off and broke.
It had been a picture of her and Jason. Ironic, Kimberly thought as she felt the tears begin to fall. She ignored the shards of glass now littering the floor, as she threw herself on the bed and began to sob.
It wasn't more than several minutes later she heard the door open slowly. She heard the crunch of feet on glass as she looked up, wiping her now red eyes on the bedsheet.
"Goddamn, you could have warned me before I decided to slice my feet open." Trini said hobbling around the rest of the glass and landing with an ungraceful thump on the bed next to Kim.
"Sorry" Kim mumbled sitting up.
"It's fine." Trini said picking the small shard from the bottom of her foot. "It's superficial. See I'm barely even bleeding." She chucked the small piece of glass back over towards the pile on the floor before looking at Kim.
She wrapped her arms around Kim and held her for a few moments before letting go and leaning back to look Kim in the face.
"Do you want to tell me what just happened? I heard Jason's raised voice, a slamming door, and a crash. Which clearly was the glass you just tried to kill me with."
Kim gave a half-hearted smile.
"Kim, I'm your best friend. I'm here to listen, not to judge."
"Trini, I think I'm in love with him."
"Tommy, right?"
Kim looked at Trini confused. "How did you know?"
Trini let out a sigh of disbelief. "We have been friends since we were what, five? If anyone knows you as well as you know yourself, it's me. I was there when you first met him, remember. You were head over heels right there in the youth center."
Kim smiled for real this time, giving Trini a small hug. Nobody understood her like Trini.
"So Jason didn't take it well, huh?"
"No I don't think finding out your girlfriend slept with your former best friend and enemy would go over well with just about anyone." Kim sighed.
"Wait…run that last part by me again." Trini said wide-eyed.
"Trini, Tommy and I slept together."
"What while you were on the moon?"
"Two of the times, yes." Kim replied.
"How many times did you have sex with him?"
"Three."
Trini shook her head in disbelief, but didn't leave. Kim hoped she her friend wouldn't despise her. She couldn't stand losing her oldest and best friend too.
Trini was silent for a moment before she grabbed her friends' hands and squeezed. "Well," she said turning to look Kim in the eyes. "You sure have made a mess of things, but you know I'll always support you."
Kim felt tears well in her eyes at her friend's statement. Knowing Trini didn't hate her was a huge relief.
Trini saw the emotion on her smaller friend's face and gave her another hug before pulling away.
"Just tell me you used protection" Trini said.
"God, Trini haven't you met my mother?" Kim said. "You know how paranoid she is."
"True" Trini rolled her eyes. "This is the woman with insurance on her house if a blizzard happens to blow through…in southern California."
Kim replied "She's had me on birth control since I was 12. Said she didn't want grandchildren till she was 60."
Trini shook her head again before turning serious.
"Kim"
"Yeah"
"Tommy's still evil." Trini paused before continuing. "And apparently has no plans for changing that fact. What the hell are you going to do? We're still going to have to fight him…to stop him if necessary. He might still try to kill you."
"I don't know, Trini" Kim replied solemnly.
"Well that's something you're going to have to figure out…and fast."
Kim nodded. As much as Trini was on her side, she wasn't just going to ignore the hard truth of the matter.
"Let's just get some sleep okay?" Trini said quietly.
"Yeah" Kim replied. Trini knew Kim needed her and wasn't going to leave her in the state she was in. She turned off the light and the two girls curled up on Kim's bed to get some rest.
Within what felt like seconds, they were wide awake to the sound of an alarm and the lights flashing. A voice through the internal speakers blared. "Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert!"
Jason walked into his room, slamming the door tightly shut after leaving Kim's. His head was swirling with emotions as he tried not to picture her and Tommy...doing together what he and Kim themselves had never done.
"Aaah!" He yelled, putting his hand through the wall opposite the door. As he pulled his now bloody hand back through the plaster, he threw himself down on his bed and willed himself not to cry. How could she? He wanted to know. But deep down he had known something hadn't been right when they had all three been friends; he just hadn't wanted to admit it to himself.
Within several minutes, he heard the door open as Billy and Zack filed into the room.
"Dude what did the wall do to you?" Zack asked as he walked over to examine the hole in the drywall.
"Jason," Billy said as he looked from the wall to his friend. "You're bleeding. Let me get something to wrap that up…"
"Billy I'll be fine…physically at least." Jason said sitting up to face his friends.
"What do you mean?" Zack asked.
"Kimberly told me what really happened up there."
Jason looked between Billy and Zack. Zack had a look of confusion; Billy looked as if he was waiting for the other shoe to drop.
"You already know don't you?" He asked.
"I suspect." Billy answered straight faced.
"Does somebody want to tell me what the hell you two are talking about?" Zack asked exasperated.
"Tommy and Kim had sex."
"What!" Zack exclaimed. "I need to sit down," he said practically falling into the nearby desk chair.
"Yeah, three times in fact."
"He's dead…he's so dead." Zack said to no one in particular.
"So how did you know?" Jason said ignoring Zack's outburst to look at Billy who was still standing against the wall.
"I had questioned their feelings for each other before he was ever taken by Rita. They seemed unnecessarily close."
"Never thought you needed to clue me in?" Jason asked starting to feel a surge of anger creep up.
"It was rendered a moot point when he was in fact captured. Or at least I presumed it to be."
"Yeah, me too." Jason felt the anger subside. He couldn't blame Billy for what had happened.
"So what happens now?" Zack asked.
"Nothing's changed." Jason replied. "He's still our enemy. We still have to fight him…only now…"
"What are you planning, Jason" Billy asked darkly.
"If I get the chance to take the bastard out…I'm taking it."
"Jason!" Billy exclaimed. "You know taking a life is against the ranger code."
"Don't you see, Billy" Jason threw himself to his feet. "I don't care! He's evil. After what he did—It's not like he's going to just stop or give up!"
"Jason…" Billy swallowed hard "I'm not so sure about—"
They were interrupted by the lights flashing on and off. "Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert!" Called throughout the rooms and the hallways as an alarm began to sound.
They looked at each other gravely for less than a second before racing out to get up the stairs that led to the main command center.
