Chapter 14

Blaine slept over Kurt's house Wednesday night after the kiss. He had packed extra clothes because he knew Burt would offer the couch to him for the night. Kurt explained to his father why Blaine was so upset, and Burt said it was fine for him to stay over.

"Are you going to tell your dad?" Blaine asked Kurt.

"Tell him what?" Kurt asked back.

"About us," Blaine whispered.

"What about us? I mean, yeah, we had a lovely moment at the secret lake, but, what happens next? We didn't clarify anything," Kurt pointed out.

"Oh. Well, I guess I want to be your boyfriend. I mean, I do like you. And, for some odd reason, you like me, too. So, the most reasonable thing to do would be to date. Right?"

"Yeah. If that's what we both want. How do we make it official? Does someone have to ask the other one to be boyfriends?" Kurt wondered.

"Kurt?"

"Yes, Blaine?"

"Will you be my boyfriend?" Blaine asked quietly. Kurt smiled.

"Yes, Blaine. I will," he answered. Blaine grabbed Kurt's face and brought it close to his for a kiss. He could taste the mango-flavored chapstick upon Kurt's lips, and then the minty flavor of his tongue. He was reminded that Kurt loved tic-tacs. It made him hope that his breath was equally as appealing.

The kiss grew more intense as their tongues intertwined. Blaine felt his heart beat fast in his chest. He really hoped Kurt couldn't hear it.

Their kiss stopped abruptly when they heard the microwave beep loudly, reminding them that Burt was in the next room over and could walk in any second.

"That brings me back to my question," Blaine said. "Are you going to tell your dad?"

"No. Not right now. He doesn't need to know. I'm scared he'll stop giving us so much freedom. What if he doesn't let you sleep over anymore?" Kurt answered.

"Good point. So, we can't let him find out," Blaine said.

"He's already figuring it out on his own. He asks me almost every day if we're dating. Before today, it was easy to answer, because I was telling him to the truth. I'm surprisingly a good liar, though, so I don't think it will be hard. Just act as straight as possible," Kurt advised.

"That won't be hard. I've been doing it my whole life, anyway. I'll even bring up my 'girlfriend' next time we all have dinner together. Which will probably be, like, tomorrow since I never plan on leaving your house," Blaine stated.

Kurt laughed. "That's fine with me."

"I'm tired," Blaine said blankly.

"Well, you had a big day. Plus, crying makes people tired. We can go to bed soon," Kurt told him.

"I forgot that I cried. Oh, man. I forgot everything that happened before I came over. Whenever I'm with you, it's like I have this bubble of happiness around me. Around us. No one can pop our bubble."

"You sound really tired, Blaine. That's sweet, though," Kurt replied.

"Can we sleep in your room tonight?" Blaine asked.

"I think Dad will want me in my room and you on the couch down here. Or vice versa," Kurt said sadly.

"I don't want to be alone tonight. I mean, I don't want anything to happen. I just want to hold hands until we fall asleep or something," Blaine explained to Kurt.

Kurt sighed quietly. "Okay. I'll set you up in my room, then when you hear my dad snoring, text me, and I'll sneak on in. I'm almost positive that he has work late tomorrow, so we'll be awake be he is."

"Okay. Thanks, Kurt."

Kurt brought Blaine to his room and tucked him into his large bed. He sat on the edge of the bed and talked to Blaine for a while, and after a long time, Burt popped his head in.

"I'm heading to bed, kiddo. Sleeping in the living room, right?" he asked.

"Yes," Kurt answered. "Good night, Blaine. See you in the morning," Kurt said as he rose off the bed. He entered the hallway where his father was waiting for him.

"Still just friends?" Burt asked in a whisper. Kurt wanted to be convincing, so he sighed quietly and tried to look annoyed at the question.

"Are you going to ask me every day?" Kurt asked. He was trying to avoid the actual answer to the question.

"I just want to make sure I'm in the loop with you two," Burt said defensively. "Don't think I didn't take a mental note that you didn't directly answer my question."

"He went on a date yesterday. Like, with a girl. Is that enough of an answer for you?" Kurt said. He thought it was the perfect excuse, because it wasn't a lie, but it made it seem like Blaine was straight.

Burt looked surprised.

"Oh," he muttered. "Sorry, kiddo."

"Don't be sorry, Dad. Blaine can date who he wants," Kurt said back. And he wants to date me, he thought.

Kurt could tell his father didn't know what to say anymore, so he walked down the stairs. He heard his dad shut his bedroom door.

It didn't take long for Burt to start snoring obnoxiously. Kurt could hear the snores from the living room, so he headed up the stairs without waiting for a text from Blaine. He tip-toed down the hall and into his bedroom.

"I'm back," Kurt whispered as softly as he could.

"Good," Blaine whispered back. "I was about to text you. How did you know to come upstairs?"

Kurt smiled. "I could hear him snoring from downstairs," he explained. Blaine chuckled, and then they both started fully laughing. Blaine threw his head back and laughed loudly.

"Shh, we have to be quiet," Kurt said through laughter.

Blaine tried to quiet himself by taking deep breaths, and Kurt followed in this action. Soon enough, they were completely silent.

Kurt crawled into the bed with Blaine and snuggled up close to him. The inside of the blankets were warm from Blaine's body heat.

Blaine shifted his body to face Kurt. He rolled over a little so their faces where inches apart. Kurt could smell the toothpaste on Blaine's breath. Kurt's breath smelled identical since Blaine always used his toothpaste.

Kurt pushed his head forward a bit, so that his lips were just barely brushing against Blaine's lips. This action sent waves of electricity through Blaine. Then, Blaine pushed his head slightly in order to fully kiss Kurt.

Kurt tried to seem calm, but he was melting on the inside. Everything felt good. He liked the taste of Blaine's lips, and the feeling of Blaine's soft hand resting on his hip. His fingers were making small circular motions against Kurt's skin.

Blaine's tongue slipped into Kurt's mouth. He wanted Kurt to think of him as a good kisser, and he felt nervous. He remembered one of his choir friends in eighth grade telling him to do the alphabet with his tongue while making out. He would start by moving his tongue in an A formation, and so on. But, tips like that didn't seem necessary, because everything seemed to be coming naturally.

They pulled away at the same time, getting nervous that they'd go too far.

"We should sleep," Kurt offered quietly.

"Yeah. I'm beat," Blaine responded. "Hey, Kurt?"

"Yes?"

"That was nice," he said, referring to the kissing. Kurt smiled and laughed a little.

"It was," Kurt agreed. He stretched his neck to reach his lips to Blaine's cheek. "Goodnight, Blaine."

"Night."

Kurt moved his body over so he could get close to Blaine. Blaine sensed what Kurt was doing, so he put his arms around Kurt. They fit well together.

Thursday:

Kurt woke up to hear the sounds of birds chirping. He was confused for a moment, wondering why he felt surrounded. He tried to move, but he felt tense arms around him. Then he remembered that Blaine was there.

"Good morning, sunshine," Kurt said. Blaine looked at him tiredly.

"Morning, Kurt," he said back sweetly.

"I'm going to get dressed," Kurt announced. He rolled off the bed and rubbed his eyes. He looked through his closet and pulled out blue jeans. Blaine saw him glance at his wrists quickly before deciding on what shirt to wear, which was a short sleeved, button-up shirt that was a light blue color.

He watched Kurt get undressed. He unbuttoned his pajama shirt and slipped it off. Blaine stared at the thick muscles of his arms, and then shifted his eyes to Kurt's bare chest. He breathed heavily and loudly, which made Kurt aware that Blaine was watching.

"Can I help you?" Kurt said jokingly. He was looking at Blaine's face, but Blaine's eyes were still focused on his body.

"Oh, sorry," Blaine blushed. "I'll get changed, too." Blaine stood up and tugged his own shirt off. This time, it was Kurt who stared. Blaine had the body of a god, in Kurt's eyes. He was perfectly sculpted. It was hard for Kurt not to reach out and touch Blaine's skin.

He snapped himself out of it before he got caught staring. They finished getting ready and went downstairs to make a quick breakfast.

"I'm going to go home tonight after glee rehearsal. Then, tomorrow, I'm going to go home after practice, shower myself up, and take you out on a date. Because boyfriends need to go on dates, right? Right," Blaine stated. He seemed like he was just thinking out loud, trying to work through his schedule.

"You don't have to take me anywhere if you don't want to," Kurt said, but he was happy that Blaine offered to.

"I want to take you out, Kurt," Blaine said.

Kurt passed Blaine some browned toast and a bowl of Trix.

They ate quickly so they could brush their teeth and leave for school. Blaine watched Kurt write out a note to his dad before they left the house.

"Do you guys always write each other notes?" Blaine asked him while they walked toward the bus stop.

"Usually. We need a way to let each other know what's going on. Even if we're doing the same thing every week," Kurt answered.

"That's cute," Blaine commented. They stood on the side of the street where the bus would come. Kurt took notice to Blaine's outfit as they stood next to each other. He was wearing jeans, which looked tighter than his other pairs, and a sweatshirt that said Dalton Academy Football on it. Kurt couldn't remember a time when Blaine didn't wear his varsity jacket out in public. It was a nice change. He could see that Blaine's overnight bag was barely zippered, so he knew that the jacket was stuffed in there.

"No jacket today?"

"Nope. I was getting tired of looking the same every day, you know? I have a whole closet full of clothes that I only ever wear to your house," Blaine explained.

"The team won't be mad?" Kurt asked.

"I honestly don't care if they're mad. What are they going to do? Kick me off the team? Beat me up? I don't think so," Blaine said.

"Good for you," Kurt said. He wondered how long it would last. He knew how much Blaine liked to seem like he was on top of the food chain, and that jacket really helped him.

"Kurt?"

"Yeah?"

"Um. I don't want you to take this the wrong way. But, when we get to school, I don't want to act like a couple," Blaine stated nervously.

"That's fine. I didn't expect you to hold my hand or anything. I know you don't want anyone to know," Kurt said.

"Good. Thanks. But, everyone already kind of thinks we're dating. So, we have to keep it extra cool," Blaine told Kurt.

Kurt could see Blaine transforming from a sappy puppy to a hard rock as they waited for the bus to arrive. He remembered the fight he had with Blaine in the cafeteria, telling Blaine to punch him in the face so people would think they're not friends.

"Yeah, that's fine," Kurt murmured quietly. Blaine felt bad for making Kurt hide their relationship from everyone. He slipped his hand into Kurt's hand, squeezed, and then let go. The bus came and Blaine let Kurt get on first. He glanced at Kurt's ass while he climbed the stairs into the bus, then followed behind him. Kurt chose a three-seater across from Mercedes, who said hi to both of the boys. Blaine sat with Kurt and resisted the urge to grab his hand.

Kurt looked out the window silently as the bus rumbled over gravel. It was hard for him to act so calm with Blaine. Everything was happening so fast. One day, Kurt and Blaine were just friends, then the next day, they're so much more. Kurt didn't prepare himself. For most of his life, Kurt was so focused on getting a boyfriend, he didn't know how to handle a boyfriend. He wasn't sure what to do, and what to say. He didn't know whether it was too early to call Blaine names like sweetie, or if Blaine even wanted to use pet names. How do people know these things when they start a relationship? Kurt thought about asking Blaine. He had a thousand questions racked up in his head. Does Blaine like holding hands? How much tongue does he like to use when we kiss? How fast does he want the relationship to go?

The only thing that helped Kurt hold himself together was the fact that this is Blaine's first relationship, too. Kurt figured that Blaine was more nervous than he was, because Blaine had never even thought about dating a boy before he met Kurt.

They arrived at school and Blaine walked Kurt to his locker before heading to his own. He felt eyes on him. He looked up, and students' eyes shifted away from him. He saw Quinn standing with Santana, and they looked at Blaine and giggled.

"Anderson!" Karofsky called to him. Blaine ignored him and moved to his locker, but David followed him there.

"Did you forget your jacket at home?" David asked him.

"Yup," Blaine lied as he stuffed his overnight bag into his locker.

"Why do you have such a huge bag at school," Dave questioned.

Blaine considered lying. But he put on his best I don't care what you think face and said, "I was at Kurt's house last night."

David laughed in his face. "Don't say that too loud. People will think you're GAY," David joked, shouting the word gay. Blaine shoved David lightly. Not to pick a fight, but to tell him to knock it off.

"Whatever floats your boat, man. Just don't tell me the details of your night with Hummel," David said. Blaine looked away from his locker so his eyes could meet David's.

"It's not like that and you know it. I like being at Kurt's house better than mine because my parents are assholes. Just because he's my best friend, does not mean we're doing it. Got it?" Blaine explained harshly. His fists were clenched and he was ready, just in case he pushed Karofsky over the edge.

"Don't forget your jacket next time," David growled. "And by the way, you've got something on your back," he said. He howled with laughter as he walked away from Blaine's locker.

Blaine reached to his back until he felt paper. He yanked it off and looked at it. Fag was written on it. He clenched his teeth and tore up the paper. Kurt approached him afterward.

"Hey," Kurt greeted him. He didn't see what had happened. Blaine tried not to act as mad as he was.

"Hi, Kurt."

Blaine noticed Kurt lick his own lips while looking at Blaine's lips. He understood that Kurt was craving kisses. Ever since their first kiss, Blaine hasn't wanted to do anything else. He wanted his lips to constantly be on Kurt's. It was like tasting happiness.

"We should go to the bathroom," Kurt whispered as low as possible, but Blaine still shushed him.

"Being seen together at all times is enough for people to spread rumors. I don't want people to see us walk into a bathroom together," Blaine said.

"I think people would probably just think he have to pee," Kurt stated. He could tell that Blaine's fear of being caught was going to become hard to deal with.

Blaine didn't answer. "Let's just head to English," Kurt suggested.

Blaine led the way to class, and Kurt walked slightly behind him. He observed the way Blaine walked with his chin up and his shoulders back. He glimpsed at Blaine's expression to see a face that screamed I'm better than you. He figured that Blaine was trying to act extra tough so no onewould suspect he was dating Kurt. He saw student's trying to avoid eye contact with him.

"You'd be a good body guard," Kurt said while he picked up his pace to catch up with Blaine.

Blaine chuckled. "Thanks, I guess. What makes you say that?"

"You look like you could kill someone right now," Kurt told him.

"Good," Blaine said.

Throughout the rest of the school day, the boys made a habit of speaking in a whisper. Even if they were holding a casual conversation, they whispered. Once they got to science, they were barely talking at all.

Kurt approached Blaine at his locker after dismissal. They stayed at the school for glee club, and no one else was around. All sports were canceled because of the rain, so the only students that were there after school were club members.

"You're lucky it rained today. What are you going to do when we have glee on the days you have football?" Kurt asked Blaine.

"I don't know yet. Let's just focus on today. You're right, I am lucky," Blaine said back.

He looked over his shoulder, then planted a quick kiss onto Kurt's lips. Kurt smiled. It was hard not to deepen the kiss, but it was enough to get him through the rest of the day. He figured Blaine would escort him to the bathroom at some point during glee rehearsal because there was barely anyone in the school, and they had a very small chance of getting caught kissing in the bathroom.

As Kurt expected, Blaine did just that. During the first break that Schuester gave them, Blaine looked over at Kurt. "I have to pee," he declared.

"Okay," Kurt said, and they walked out of the choir room. Tina and Mercedes laughed as the boys left, and Kurt figured they were catching on quickly.

The second they entered the bathroom, Blaine's mouth was on Kurt's. He didn't even check to see if anyone was in the stalls. He didn't care. He had been waiting all day to taste Kurt's lips.

The kiss intensified quickly, and Blaine eventually had Kurt against the wall. His arms were around Kurt's hips, and Kurt's hands were on Blaine's face. Kurt traced Blaine's jawline delicately with his hand. He liked the feeling of Blaine's soft skin.

Blaine licked Kurt's bottom lip with his tongue, and he felt Kurt trying not to smile. Blaine wanted to slip his hands under Kurt's shirt, but he didn't want to untuck the shirt from his pants. He thought of what Kurt looked like that morning without a shirt on and smiled.

"We should stop," Kurt said. "Not because I want to or anything, but because I don't want to have to walk back into the choir room holding my coat over my crotch," Kurt explained. He wasn't embarrassed to admit that Blaine turned him on in a matter of minutes.

"Good point. Let's head back," Blaine said.

They exited the bathroom and held hands when they were sure that no one else was in the hallway.

"Kissing you is so much better than any girl I've kissed. Which would only be Quinn and Rachel. When I first kissed Quinn, I thought that she was a bad kisser. But, when I kissed Rachel, I realized that it wasn't that they were bad kissers, it was just that they weren't what I really wanted. What I really wanted was you," Blaine explained. He stopped walked, forcing Kurt to stop too. He smiled and planted a kiss on Kurt's lips. It was short, but it was enough to make them both smile uncontrollably. It made Kurt happy that Blaine was willing to kiss him in the middle of the hallway. He didn't even see Blaine check over his shoulder to see if anyone was there. Maybe Blaine would come out to everyone sooner than Kurt thought.

When glee was over, Blaine walked Kurt to his Dad's car.

"Your dad is getting you, right?" Burt asked Blaine.

"Yeah. He'll be here soon. You guys don't have to wait for me," Blaine said.

He whispered to Kurt before he went into the car. "I'll text you later," he promised. He grabbed Kurt's hand, squeezed, and then let go. Just like he had done at the bus stop. Kurt blushed and hoped his father didn't see it happen.

"Talk to you later," Kurt said back. They smiled at each other and Kurt went into the car with his dad.

Blaine waved as they drove away. For once, Kurt felt completely happy.
