Right. Gamiya will be getting played around by Fate. He will also find out his beloved Lex Divina is not as effective against the white haired boy as he thought it would be.

I do not own Negima nor Ragnarok Online.

A Twist of Fate

Gamiya tried to grapple with Fate, but the white haired boy just flung him away, out to the lake. Very quickly, the high priest teleported back to the wooden bridge in front of Negi and Asuna.

"Hey kid, you all right there," he asked without taking eyes off Fate.

"I'm fine Iroi-sensei," the kid replied and then he asked, "What are we going to do now, Chamo-kun?"

"Uh… I'm all out of ideas too…" muttered the ermine, "What should we do?"

"Hey, boy, can you hear me, boy?" a voice in the air suddenly asked. It chuckled a bit before continuing, "I've come to see you fight…This shouldn't be all you've got, boy! Show them your spirit! If you can last another minute and a half, I'll finish the rest!"

"That voice… it can't be!" exclaimed Asuna.

"It is, ane-san!" confirmed the ermine.

"Oh? The old hag is coming?" Gamiya asked no one in particular.

"I AM NOT AN OLD HAG, YOU BASTARD!" the voice shouted in retort. "That as a brilliant plan you pulled off back there, boy," the voice continued in a more normal volume, "However, you're still too smart for your own good. Do you think you can catch up with your father like that? Sometimes you've just got to rush in blindly without thinking about the consequences. If you're a brat, then act like one and leave the rest to the adults!"

"Negi!" Asuna said to him.

"Asuna-san… let's go!" the kid said, confidence back once more.

"OK!" exclaimed the bell girl, her fan ready.

"ORA!" shouted the high priest as he immediately rushed towards the white hair boy with his fist cocked and ready. Unfortunately, Fate disappeared from his field of vision. Skidding to a halt, he heard cries of surprise behind him. Turning around, he saw Asuna and Negi get blown away by the boy, who followed up by a series of quick attacks. The boy then shot up into the air.

"Vishu Talri Shutal Vangait…"

"LEX DIVINA!"

"…"

Fate stood in the air, motionless. Gamiya then teleported into the air and gave him a double axe handle to his back, sending him crashing down to the bridge. Teleporting back down again, Gamiya ran to the downed boy.

"το τειχος διερςασθω. ΔΟΡΥ ΠΕΤΡΑΣ…"

"What! It wore off already?" the high priest wondered aghast as multiple lances of stone suddenly shot out at him. He teleported to where Fate is to avoid the onslaught. However, he wasn't there.

"…ΚΑΚΟΝ ΟΜΜΑ ΠΕΤΡΩΣΕΩΣ…"

"What the hell?" he thought as he watched a beam of light strike the part of the bridge where Negi and Asuna was. He stood stock still, too shocked to do anything. All he could do was watch and pray that they were all right, knowing it was probably too late.

Unexpectedly when the smoke cleared off, Asuna was kneeling in front of Negi, covering him and somehow did not get petrified.

"Asuna-san!" cried Negi in surprise and concern.

Suddenly, Fate dived down to attack. Gamiya teleported to them as fast as he could, fearing for their safety. Negi was faster. The kid actually caught Fate's punch.

"Asuna-san," Negi asked, "Are you ok?"

"Negi, I'm all right," she replied with a smirk. Her clothes were all falling to pieces due to the spell. "Kids who are naughty need to be punished!" she shouted as she struck the boy on the head with her fan.

Fate's eyes widened, astonishment written in them.

"Aniki! Now!" shouted Chamo.

The kid roared a cry and punched the boy full in the face. Both of them were stock still after that punch.

"Did we get him?" asked Asuna as she covered her top with her free arm.

"This is the first time…" Fate muttered aloud, "Someone has actually hit me. Negi Springfield!" His hand started glowing.

"Negi!" the bell girl shouted in alarm.

"Magnum…" the high priest chanted as he teleported next to Fate, "…Break!"

His fist connected to the boy's face and he was blasted across the broken bridge. "Make that two!" he yelled after the boy.

Someone chuckled behind him and said, "Well, I couldn't have done better myself, bastard."

"You took your time…" he replied as he turned around to face Evangeline nonchalantly.

"Evangeline-san!" exclaimed Asuna and Negi.

"Now we're even, boy," the vampire said with a smirk.

Suddenly, a loud shot rang out and the giant demon was encased in a cracking sphere or energy. Gamiya looked up and saw Chachamaru hovering over them with some giant gun… cannon… thingy…

"Chachamaru-san too…" said the bell girl in awe.

"Wow," said the kid, in awe as well.

"You did well, boy," congratulated the vampire, "But you still have a long way to go. Listen up! In a large scale battle like this, a magic user's role is nothing more than high powered artillery. You prepare a huge spell while your partners protect you! In other words, firepower is everything!"

She then flew up, saying, "I'll show you the power of the ultimate mage!"

She suddenly stopped to turn around and say, "Hey! Make sure you take a real good look!"

"More doing, less talking, slow coach!" shouted Gamiya at her, "Make sure you drink more milk and grow taller too!"

"YOU SHUT UP, YOU BASTARD TEACHER!" she retorted loudly before flying up again.

"Lic Lac La Lac Lilac, το σνμβολαιον διακονητω μοιη κρνσταλλινη βασιλεια. επιγενηθητω ταιωνιον ερεβοςαιωνιε κρνσταλλε.

With the chant, the giant demon was slowly being encased in ice. Evangeline started laughing and said, "You're out of your league, woman! It's a 150 four-way absolute zero field-effect freezing spell! Even a giant monster like that can't defend against something like that! I am the vampire Evangeline! Gospel of Darkness! Evil Mage Without equal!" She started cackling again.

"Eva-chan is really getting into this," said Asuna, while Negi just stared with his jaw open.

"Well, I guess that's a vampire for you," the high priest quipped, somehow not the least surprised. The demon was now totally encased in ice.

"πασαις ζωαις τον ισον θανατονος αταραςια. ΚΟΣΜΙΚΗ ΚΑΤΑΣΤΡΟΦΗ… Break…"

The giant ice statue now shattered into pieces. The vampire started laughing again and said, "Fools! I don't know if he's some legendary demon god or whatever, but he's no match for me!"

"Evangeline-san," Negi finally said, still in awe.

"She did it! That was amazing, Eva-chan!" whooped Asuna for joy.

"How was that, boy?" the vampire asked as she and her robot partner landed, "Did you see how awesome my powers were?"

"That was great, Eva-chan! You're amazing!" exclaimed the bell girl, "No wonder you keep saying you're the strongest! I've changed my opinion of you!"

"That was great, Evangeline-san!" Negi said as he clutched his hand.

"That's right! There, There," Evangeline said as she took in all the praise.

"Wait a damn minute, what about the seal? Don't tell me that old man Dean unsealed you…" asked Gamiya.

"About that," said Chachamaru, ready to explain, "Even now, we are using a complex, high level ritual in order to continue to deceive the spirits that perpetuate the spell. The principal has to sign and seal one 'Evangeline is in Kyoto for school purposes' document every five seconds."

"As a reward for today, that old geezer agreed to endure the signings until we finish sightseeing in Kyoto tomorrow," continued the vampire as she passed her cloak to the bell girl to cover up, "I'll never get a chance like this again!"

The high priest burst out in laughter at the thought. "I wish I was there to see that," he said before falling back into a fit of laughter.

"Once every five seconds? Is the Dean going to be ok?" asked Asuna, concerned. She immediately wrapped herself with the cloak.

The vampire huffed and said, "This is all his fault for not foreseeing this would happen anyway! He deserves to work a bit!"

"I have all my powers back while I'm outside the barrier created around the academy by the curse," she continued to explain, "In other words, I'm at my strongest as long as I'm violation of the curse. It feels so good to go all out after so long, boy."

"Heh, I guess that's what you meant by 'we're even'. His emergency helped you escaped the seal, even if it's only temporary," stated Gamiya as he finally got the laughter out of his system.

"You got that right. It seems you are not such a bastard after all," smirked the vampire.

"Anyway, you better listen up, boy," she then started, talking to Negi, "If we were to say today was one of those Japanese video games I play in my spare time, then this would be the part where you ask why the last boss helps you when you're about to die in the first dungeon."

"What kind of anology is that?" asked Asuna with a dumbfounded look.

Ignoring the bell girl, Evangeline continued, "If something like this happens again, don't expect to be able to rely on my power. At times like this, you've got to show them your own guts."

The high priest sighed and said, "I guess what she says is true, minus the stupid analogy…"

"What…" glowered the vampire.

"If you have no idea of what the enemy can do and there is no time to scout it out," the man continued, "Then, you might as well go in head first and use your most powerful spell. More often than not, they won't be expecting it… a surprise tactic on the fly."

"Yes…" said Negi, still looking a little unsure.

"Hmm… I guess that was rough on you after all, boy," surmised the vampire, "Are you ok?"

Suddenly, Negi shouted, "Evangeline-san!" He ran straight at her.

"Behind you McDowell!" shouted Gamiya as he suddenly grabbed the kid by the waist. He had noticed something coming out of a pool of water that somehow got on the bridge and he was taking no chances. If anything, he knew vampires wouldn't die so fast and he could afford to risk it.

"το τειχος διερςασθω. ΔΟΡΥ ΠΕΤΡΑΣ…"

It as Fate and he launched a spear of stone into Evangeline, who had turned around to face this new threat.

"You bastard!" she shouted at him.

"Evangeline A.K. McDowell," he said, recognizing her, "The Doll Master, huh?"

Asuna and Negi were shouted her name and worried for her.

However, the dark mage just shrugged and smirked before suddenly disappearing into a horde of bats.

"That's right," she affirmed, suddenly appearing behind the white haired boy, "I am The Undying Mage."

With one swipe of her hand, a wave of power went through his body. However, to Gamiya's surprise, it was merely water.

"I see," said the water Fate, "I would be at a disadvantage if I were to fight a true blood vampire. I'll e retreating for today."

With that, he dispersed with a splash. The high priest then let Negi down on his feet.

"He's running away, huh?" the vampire sneered.

"Master, are you alright?" asked Chachamaru while Asuna was sputtering something.

"That brat is no human either," the Undying Mage commented, "The way he moves is like a construct… like a doll… I have no idea who he could be working for though. In any case, you can relax now. I'll accompany you for the rest of the school trip."

Then, Asuna found her words, "That big rock spike just went whoosh through you, then the blood was like, splash, and…"

"You can't hurt a vampire with a sword or a gun," explained Evangeline, "Especially not a true blood vampire. It's just like in the movies. Regenerating is really tiring, though. I hate it."

"Heh, that may be true," stated Gamiya with a smirk, "But as far as I know, all undead can be sent back to their graves by either destroying the head or the heart. I would dearly like to find out if it's true here."

"Oh, wouldn't you like to know?" retorted the vampire, muttering about how a bastard he was under her breath.

Suddenly, Negi collapsed.

"Wh-what's wrong boy!" shouted Evangeline.

"Negi-sensei!" asked Chachamaru.

"Negi! Hey!" shouted Asuna.

"Aniki! He's a mess," shouted Chamo, "His entire right side has turned to stone.

"Damn," muttered the high priest as he knelt next to the boy and chanted.

"…Recovery..."

For a moment, the stone pallor on his right side seemed to regain its color, but it reverted back to stone skin.

"What the hell, I can't reverse it?" he exclaimed. "Damn, the spell is a slow acting Stone Curse. It must have taken root in his body already. Damn it," he wondered as he tried casting the Recovery spell again.

"Negi-kun!" shouted Konoka as she and Setsuna ("Negi-sensei!") ran up to them.

"What's wrong-degozaru?" asked Kaede as she, Yue and a wolf boy ran up to them. Ku Fei and Mana soon followed after.

Chachamaru knelt down with the high priest and analyzed Negi.

"He's in a dangerous condition," she said, giving a status report, "Negi-sensei's magic resistance is incredibly high, so the petrification process is very slow. With Iroi-sensei's constant use of his spell, the process is even slower now. But even so, Negi-sensei will be unable to breathe when his neck petrifies, and he will suffocate."

"Can't you do something, Eva-chan!" shouted Asuna at the vampire.

"I'm… I'm really bad at healing magic… I'm undead," she said regretfully.

"The reinforcements arriving at midday could probably heal him, but they won't make it in time!" exclaimed Chamo.

"Damn it, besides speculating, does anyone have any good ideas!" shouted Gamiya as he cast Recovery yet again.

"Ojou-sama…" said Setsuna and Konoka nodded.

"Asuna," she asked, "Is it ok if I kiss Negi-kun?"

"Wh-what are you saying Konoka," the bell girl asked, flabbergasted, "At a time like this…"

"Awawa, that's not what I mean!" she said, trying to calm the bell girl down, "You know, the pactio thing?"

"Everyone," Konoka started again, "Se-chan told me everything… Thank you. My classmates worked so hard to help me today… If I could not even do this much…"

"Hey, that's right!" exclaimed Chamo, "The pactio draws out the latent powers in the other party! If we can use the healing power Konoka-nee-san used at Cinema Town…"

"Will you guys hurry up! Or the kid here will be a kid statue instead," shouted the high priest.

Very quickly, the ermine laid out a magic circle and Konoka knelt down by Negi's side. Chachamaru and Gamiya stepped outside the circle, with the high priest giving one last Recovery to the kid."

"Negi-kun," said Konoka, "Hold on…"

She kissed him.

"Pactio!"

The whole place got bathed in white light.

"Awfully bright here," the high priest muttered.

As the light died down, he saw Konoka dressed in a new outfit. It resembled a shrine maiden's outfit, but a little more fancy looking. What really caught his attention was all of the petrification on Negi had disappeared. The kid himself seemed to be stirring awake.

"Konoka… san…" the kid teacher said tiredly, "Thank goodness… you're ok…"

Then, all the girls started cheering. Gamiya just smiled, feeling relieved that danger had passed.

"Let's get back to that temple, I'm dying for sleep here," he said.

"Setsuna-san!"

Gamiya woke up with a start and groaned. He went straight to bed without changing out from his attire and now he felt that he needed to get into a hot spring right now. Angrily, he got up from his futon and walked outside to see what the ruckus was about.

"Where are you going!" asked Negi, "What about Konoka-san!"

"It's… the law of my people…" Setsuna explained sadly, "Once you've seen my true form… I have no choice but to…"

"I've fulfilled my vow to protect ojou-sama, and I've repaid my debt to the Konoe family who raised me after the Shinmei-ryuu abandoned me," she said as she turned to run away, "I'm leaving the rest to you, Negi-sensei…"

Having enough of this, Gamiya teleported into the air over her and brought her down to the ground face first. He then sat on her back, effectively pinning her down.

"Iroi-sensei! Let me go!" she shouted in protest.

"For what purpose?" he asked, "I'm not moving until I hear a good reason."

"Please Setsuna-san, don't do this!" pleaded Negi, "I can't tell people I'm a mage or else I'll be turned into an ermine! And speaking of that, Evangeline-san is a vampire and Chachamaru is a robot!"

"Whatthat rat the kid has used to be a magewhat the hell…" the high priest thought in disbelief.

"Please, it's the law of my people… please don't be unreasonable…" she started again but the older man cut her off.

"Unreasonable? That law is unreasonable!" exclaimed Gamiya, "Outdated rules like that should be broken! Do you really think Konoe will forget you if you leave like that? More likely she will remember you as the best friend she ever had that abandoned her just as she got her life back. Would you rather be a coward and follow your rules blindly or stand up to them to preserve and protect your friendship with your ojou-sama?"

"Se-chan! Se-chan, we've got trouble!" shouted Konoka suddenly as she ran to her friend.

"Big trouble, Setsuna-san!" yelled Asuna as she suddenly entered with a flying kick that caught Gamiya in the head.

"What happened?" the swordswoman asked.

"The paper copies of ourselves back at the hotel have gone berserk!" shouted Asuna.

"Asuna…" the high priest growled at her, a shoe print on the side of his face. By then the rest of the girls turned up.

"Oh, there you are Sakurazaki-san," said Kazumi.

"Let's hurry back to the hotel, Negi-bozou!" exclaimed Ku Fei, "We've got everything packed!"

"Come on, Setsuna!" coerced Mana, "These copies are your specialty, right?"

"Hurry up, Se-chan," cheered Konoka.

"Setsuna-san…" said Negi with open arms, "We won't tell anyone…"

"I guess… I got no choice," Setsuna said as she trembled with relief, "Thank you, Negi-sensei."

"Understood! Let's go ojou-sama!" she then shouted cheerfully as she ran after Konoka.

"Aw, Se-chan! Just call me Kono-chan!" she chided.

"Ah, sorry… It's become a habit," the swordswoman said sheepishly.

"Will you hurry up or we'll leave you two behind!" shouted the high priest at them, somehow already way ahead of everyone else.
