Chapter 14: Elsa

Rapunzel stared at me, her face a mixture of shock and wariness at my outburst. "Is something wrong Elsa?" she asks, "Why did you say my name?"

"Um... uh..." I stutter.

"Elsa," Rapunzel walks into the room and stands in front of me with her arms crossed, "What's going on? Is it something in that book?" I sit there, frozen and clutching my mother's journal. "Well?" she prompts. I slump my shoulders and loosen my death grip on the diary.

"I don't know how to explain this..." I say.

"Explain what?" Rapunzel asks. I pat the bed beside me and she gingerly sits down, crossing one leg underneath her.

"I‒I think you're, I think you're my‒Anna and I's‒our... cousin." I breathe out. Rapunzel stares at me for a moment.

"What?" she asks.

"Here," I shove the journal at her, "Read this." I flip it open to the page I first read and she hesitantly takes it. I watch her as she reads through all of the journal entries, her eyebrows edging higher and higher the more passages she reads. Finally, she looks up at me with tears in her eyes.

"Is this true?" she whispers.

"My mother wrote it. I don't know why she would lie in her private journal. Of course, it could be a different Rapunzel, but I highly doubt that. It's not a very common name and how many people have very long, blond hair." I say.

"So, I've never met my actual parents." Rapunzel says sadly.

"And you're a princess." I point out.

"Oh my God! What am I gonna do?" she shouts.

"First," I put my hands on her shoulders and push her down, "Stay calm. We can't tell anyone, not yet."

"Why not?"

"Because we need to gather our thoughts, and make sure this is real. We need to be one hundred percent positive. We can't just walk around claiming you're the princess of Corona if you're really not. We need proof."

"How do we do that?" Rapunzel asks. I cross my arms over my chest and cock my hip.

"We go to the scene of the crime."

"Who are we going to see again?" I murmur to Rapunzel as we walk down the winding staircase.

"His name's Flynn Rider. He used to live in Corona. He was a thief, knows every square inch of that place. If we need a guide for our investigation, he's it." she responds.

"The Princess Protection Program hired a thief to help protect princesses?" I ask.

"He's good for getting information." she shrugs, her cheeks hinting at a pink color.

"You like him, don't you?" I smirk and poke her in the side as she leads me down a hallway.

"What? No! I mean, no. No." she protests.

"Oh, come on! You can tell me, we are cousins after all." I joke.

"Stop! I don't like him!" Rapunzel insists. I put my hands behind my back and lean forward slightly.

"Riiiight." I say.

"I'm serious."

"Uh-huh. Sure."

"Elsa, I mean it."

"Of course you do."

"Elsa."

"Rapunzel."

"Stop!"

"Stop what?"

"Doing that!"

"Doing what?"

"That!"

"I have no idea what you mean."

"Elsa, I mean it ― oh! We're here!" Rapunzel gently raps on the door, "Flynn?"

The door opens and Flynn opens the door, "Hey Blondie. Hey... Can I call you Blondie 2?"

"No." I say.

"And I wish you wouldn't call me Blondie," Rapunzel tells him, "Anyway, we need your help Flynn."

"Sorry ladies, but I'm not buying Girl Scout cookies right now. These girls sold me some a few months ago, completely ripped me off! It was despicable! I mean, you'd think that six-year old girls would have higher morals―"

"Flynn! This is serious!" Rapunzel glares.

"Oh, then you should come in," he opens the door wider and Rapunzel and I walk inside, "So, what's the problem?"

"Show him the journal." Rapunzel tells me. I reluctantly hand over the journal and he flips open to the bookmarked page. He reads it silently for a few minutes before glancing up at us.

"You two, what? Think you're cousins?" Flynn asks.

"Look at us, will you? And I mean really look. Take in the features and―" I say until Flynn cuts me off.

"Holy shit!" he yells.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" Rapunzel asks worriedly.

"Yeah, her nose! And her eye shape and the same jaw-line!" Flynn exclaims.

"Jaw-line is not the face. It's the head." I say.

"Whatever. You guys could definitely be related. Either that, or you're doppelgangers."

"I think you might have misused that word." I cut in.

"So you'll help us?" Rapunzel asks, pretending I didn't speak.

"With what? I'm not very good at research." Flynn tells her.

"Not with research," I say, "We need to go to Corona."

"Whoa," Flynn puts his hands, "That's gonna be next to impossible. You realize you're basically on lock-down right? Under lock-and-key? This place is basically you're prison until that sick group is knocked out."

"Yes, I know all of that. The thing is, however, I am the queen," I open my palm to reveal a perfectly crafted snow-flake, "And I have magic."

Jack POV

"We believe that there's a main root right off of Staten Island." Kristoff finished explaining to me, down in what I liked to call the Protection Program's own little Panic Room. He pointed at a map, covered in red and orange pen with phrases such as 'leader's home believed to be here' and 'best place to buy a burger.'

"So, what? Do you want Elsa to be in that group to fight? I thought you wanted to make sure she lived." I was really confused.

"I do not want her to fight. If she fought then Anna would want to fight," he suppressed a shudder, "No, I don't want her to fight. I want to make sure she's ready in case she has to fight. You never know with this business."

"Okay, so who's going in this group of fighters?" I ask.

"No one you know. I'm not risking my best men, not yet. This is more than just a hate group Jack, these people have some sort of grudge against Elsa. Maybe it first started out as 'purifying Arendelle.' Maybe the leader thought he was some new-age Hitler. The point is, it's spiraled out of control. This is bigger than just killing Elsa. I think they've developed a new grudge." Kristoff tells me.

"And what is that?" I ask.

"I think they've developed a grudge against magic. Which means there are a lot of people in this compound that are in serious danger if this gets out of hand."

Elsa POV

"Do you have everything?" I ask Rapunzel.

"Yeah, you?" she replies.

"Yep, light and necessary. Let's go." Rapunzel and I walk out of our room, our respective bags slung over our shoulders, and continue to walk down the hallway to the rendezvous point.

"Nervous?" Rapunzel asks.

"Just that this seems to be going a little too perfectly." I say.

"Well, we did just plan it fifteen minutes ago. Unless Flynn told, which he wouldn't, no one could possibly know about it."

"Ever heard of eavesdroppers?" I ask. Rapunzel looks confused for a moment before opening her mouth to say something.

"Yes." a voice says, but it's not hers. I whip around and have to crane my neck up to see a guy with dirty blond hair and a pointed nose.

"Aw man!" Rapunzel moans and covers her face with her hands. I turn back to the tall guy.

"Please, please let us go. Don't say a word, I'm begging you! We have to do this! I think this holds the key to something!" I ramble while the guys stares at me curiously.

"Elsa," he says in a nasally voice that sounds strangely familiar, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"You don't?" I ask.

"Nope," he shrugs causing his arms to flap, "But, don't you remember me?" His eyes start to water up and I struggle to put a name to his face.

"Um... no. I'm really sorry."

"It's okay. I know I look really different."

"Then, if you don't mind my asking, who are you?" I ask.

"It's me, Olaf!" he exclaims. I stand, shocked, for a moment before flinging my arms around him.

"Olaf! It's you, it's really you! Does Anna know?" I pull back to look at him.

"Yep!" he replies cheerfully.

"I can't believe you're human. How did this happen?" I ask.

"Well―"

"Sorry to break up the chat Elsa, but we need to get going before anyone notices our absence." Flynn appears out of nowhere with a bag slewn over his shoulder.

"Right, right. I'm sorry Olaf, but I have to go." I say.

"What? You're leaving? But you can't leave!" Olaf protests.

"I can and I have to. You wouldn't understand. I'm sorry." I say and Rapunzel grabs my arm to drag me off down the hall.

"Come on!" she urges, "We don't know who he can get to to tell someone. Do your magic thingy!" She and Flynn pull me off into a side room.

"Okay okay. Take my hands," I say and close my eyes, "Just so you guys know, I'm not sure how I can do this or how it will affect you guys so... best of luck!" I take a deep breath and feel the familiar stings of anticipation and cold so freezing that even I can't handle it before the wind picks up and we vanish into thin air.

Hey everyone! Hope you liked my chapter, hope it wasn't too confusing. I know they're a little short and I'm working on it, but I just get such good cliffhangers and ideas that have to stop at certain points and yeah... So, anyway, hope you enjoyed it!:) Please, review, favorite, follow the story (if you feel like it of course) and I'll (hopefully) post next week (or sooner. I have fall break all week so...) BYEEEEEE!:)
