Updated. This one of my most important chapters. It really sets up the rest of the story.
The more I say, the more I give away.

Hawk's Story: One Piece
Chapter 12
It had been another six months since the Mihawk Pirates returned to the Steel Island. Training there had become much more physical and draining for Hawk and Jess. No longer were they doing calligraphy and kendo all day. It started with intense endurance training. They moved on to learning how to focus Haki through their swords. Mihawk didn't allow them to Armament Haki yet. Next they learned a variety of new techniques to suit their preferred styles. Then they had to practice those techniques on Noah and Mihawk. One those six months however, they were now considered graduates from the dojo. They were on their way back to Rayleigh because Mihawk wanted Rayleigh to do the initial Haki lessons and to help Hawk understand the power of the Conqueror's Haki.
They were six days into the journey, when they ran out of food. Hawk wouldn't stop complaining, but they came across an island that the log post didn't pick up. Other than a dock there was literally nothing on the island, just a thin dying grass. Mihawk was a bit wary about the island but Hawk's complaining made his decision easy.
Hawk had been tasked with catching the fish and cooking them as punishment for his whining. After about twenty minutes however, he returned with a bundle of fish. Jess watched as Hawk cooked on a makeshift grill he had put together, while Mihawk relaxed on the ship. "Hawk when did you learn how to cook?" Jess asked, very impressed by his skill.
"When I was a kid. Before my brother let me go bounty hunting with them, I'd stay with Floyd and he'd show me how to cook a lot of different things." Hawk answered.
"Did he teach you how to build the grill too?" Jess giggled.
"No I was just hoping this worked." What he did was he took old sheet metal and place it over the fire, it was held up by stones they had gathered. "They should be just about ready."
"Good cause I think it's about to rain." They quickly got the fish onto the boat and ate under umbrellas as the it began to downpour.
After they ate they were getting ready to set sail when they realized why this island was deserted. Mihawk felt strange presence coming from the water. He peered over the side to a large pool of bubbles. As he curiously observed the bubbles, a ship burst out of the water. Its appearance gave off an ominous aura that Mihawk had never felt before. The was made of black wood and what looked like bones. The sails were torn and dark grey. The was a skeleton holding aa scythe. As the ship came to a rest, its sails opened revealing the word 'Hades'. "Im-impossible." Mihawk muttered, gaining the attention of Hawk and Jess.
"Sensei what is it?" Hawk asked.
"It's the real Flying Dutchman." They had never seen that look on their Captain's face before. It was the look of fear. The Dutchman pulled right next to their little ship. "We've got to get the hell out of here!" Mihawk shouted. Before he tried to propel the ship with his sword, hooks shot from the Dutchman and attached to their ship.
Mihawk jumped off the ship and motioned for his crew to do the same. Dozens of what looked like undead Fishman poured from the Dutchman, all carrying swords. Mihawk looked at them, analyzing them. "Where is he?" He asked, more to himself than anyone else.
"Who?" Hawk asked.
"Davy Jones." Mihawk answered.
"Wait Davy Jones? Shouldn't he be dead?" Jess asked in disbelief.
"Yarhaha~, that's what you're supposed to believe!" A voice shouted from the Dutchman. Out stepped a large man, double the size of Mihawk. He had a disgusting grey beard and greyish, cracked skin. He wore an eye patch on his left eye and a Pirate Captain's hat. He wore a crimson red trench coat and black pants. He carried a sword the size of Mihawk's. It was Davy Jones. "You see boys and girls I'm not dead! I'm an immortal cursed to this small island, thanks to an old friend of mine!"
"And why are you immortal, Captain?" A man said walking off the boat. This man was much more clean. He dressed elegantly and had a long black beard. His skin was also greyish and cracked though.
"Well you see Jack, that's a secret. It one of the great mysteries of my time."
"They're putting on a show." Hawk growled.
"By the way Captain, why did your good friend curse you?" Jack asked.
"Simple! He was afraid of me. For I am the man who has two Devil's Fruit!" Jones declared, leaving the Mihawk Pirates in shock.
"Two fruits?" Hawk muttered.
"That's right. The Kraken-Kraken Fruit and the Murk-Murk Fruit." Jones answered with a smirk. "Now which one of you wants to take a ride on the River Styx with us?
"None of us!" Mihawk shouted.
"Jack, Boys teach these fools a lesson!"
Jack charged Mihawk and the soldiers charged Hawk and Jess. The soldiers were surrounding them so Hawk used one of his new techniques. "Two Sword Style: Dragon Twister!" He spun around sending a bunch of them in the air.
"One Sword Style: Apprentice's Slash!" Jess shouted, sending a wave of energy into another large group of them.
Meanwhile Mihawk clashed with Jack. It had been sometime since he had an opponent that made him try this hard. Jack's cutlass matched him blow for blow, despite the size difference. There were cuts going down each of their bodies. "World's Strongest Slash!" Mihawk sent an enormous wave of energy at Jack, who deflected it into another direction. "Just who are you?" Mihawk growled.
"Me? Just a man at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Just like you." Jack chuckled.
Hawk and Jess were back to back, fighting off any of the soldiers that got near them. "This is crazy! How many are there?" Hawk shouted.
"Too many!" Jess shouted back.
As the battle dragged on and the fatigue was starting to set in, the pair were starting to lose form and get sloppy. Despite the minor but accumulating cuts, the pair kept fighting. They were still far stronger than these creatures.
"Jess, how you doing over there?" Hawk called over.
"I've been better." She answered, kicking one of the creatures away.
The numbers were finally beginning to dwindle and the pair were back to back again. Jones took his chance to to deliver a fatal attack. "High Pressure Beam." He said shooting a thin beam of murky water at the pair. Hawk dropped to a knee, clutching his arm in pain. Then he felt something against is back. He turned around and Jess dropped to the ground in excruciating pain. Hawk pushed the rest of the soldiers back and knelt beside her. "Jess, Jess are you okay?" Hawk shouted, cradling her head in his hands.
"No." She said coughing up blood. "I can't breathe and I'm going numb."
"What no, you'll be fine." Hawk said.
"No Hawk… I won't. He got my heart. I can feel the blood… pouring into my chest." She said, blood leaking from her nose and mouth.
"No, no, no, no someone can fix you." He said, tears starting to form in his eyes.
She shook her head. "No they can't. I'm going to die." She told him. "Before I go, tell me you love me one more time."
"I-I can't, you can't die!" He cried.
"Please."
"I-I I love you Jess, I love you so much. Please don't leave me."
"I love you too, but I have to say goodbye."
"No, no, no, no." She didn't answer. "Jess, Jess, please wake up!" He pleaded shaking her, but she was gone. "No…No…No…NO~!" Hawk screamed. A giant wave of Haki mix with black fire shot out of his body, setting on fire every creature in his range. Hawk, now engulfed in black fire with pitch black eyes, charged Davy Jones swinging his swords wildly. The force of the blows was pushing Jones back. Hawk finally knocked Jones' sword away and began cutting him even though he was a Logia user.
Jones managed to wrapped a Kraken tentacle around Hawk and began squeezing. "Now you die boy." Jones growled.
"Song of the World!" Mihawk severed the arm of Davy Jones. He proceeded to lob of Jones' head. He could see Jones beginning to reform his body, so he picked up the now unconscious Hawk and the body of Jess and boarded the ship. He unleashed a large blade of energy at the chains attached to the ship. With the ship freed, he accelerated the ship with a large gust from his sword. He laid Hawk down against a wall and Jess down in the center of the deck. He took off his jacket and place it over her. In a panic he continued to send gusts of wind at the sails. He continued into the night and eventually he had passed through the Red Line and landed at Shabody Archipelago. He picked up Jess and placed her in his room. He then picked up Hawk and threw him over his shoulder and ran as fast as he could to the 'Rip Off' Bar. He pounded on the door until someone answered. Shaky cracked the door and Mihawk pushed his way through. He placed Hawk against the wall and then dropped to his knees and began to cry again. "Shaky she's gone, my Little Girl is gone!" He shouted.
"Juracule what's going on?" She asked in a panic. He had never let anyone see him like this before.
"Jessica is dead, my daughter is gone!" He cried.
Shaky gasped and ran in the other room to get Rayleigh. She came back moment later crying. Rayleigh came out with a sad look on his face.
"Mihawk, I-I don't know what to say." Rayleigh said kneeling beside him.
"I can't, I can't…I can't." Mihawk said, before passing out from sheer emotion exhaustion.
The next morning Hawk was the first to wake up. Shaky was sitting next to him when he jerked up out of his sleep. "Where, where is she, where's Jess?" Hawk asked, hoping it was just a dream.
She couldn't bring herself to look him in the eye. "I'm sorry Hawk, but she's gone."
Hawk quickly jumped out of bed tears streaming from his face. He stumbled outside and almost fell down the stairs. He ran to the middle of the grove and began to scream. Another huge wave of Haki shot from him, shaking the entie grove. He began pounding his black fire engulfed fists into the ground, even after they began to bleed and brake. Rayleigh walk over and put a hand on Hawks shoulder. Hawk turned around and swung at him. Rayleigh dodged and pull him into a hug. With nothing left to do, he began to cry. "Why Rayleigh? It's not fair! I loved her more than anyone in the world! Why was she taken from me?"
"I don't know Son, I just don't know." He answered. He had never dealt with anything like this before, so he didn't know what to say.
After several hours of crying and overwhelming depression Mihawk went and retrieve Jess' body. Rayleigh had dug a grave for her behind the 'Rip Off' Bar. They let Hawk do the honors of placing her body in the grave. He gently placed her down and kissed her forehead. He placed his jacket over her, then climbed out of the grave. Everyone watched as Rayleigh covered her with dirt, Shaky and Hawk cried the whole time. When he was finished Mihawk placed her sword over the grave to signify the proper burial.
Rayleigh had left later that day and made a special headstone for Jess. Everyone watched as Rayleigh set the headstone. It read: 'Here lies Jessica Mihawk, Master Swordsman. She was love by many and will forever be in our hearts.'
