Chapter 31
Miwa and Mokuba were now sitting in the cafeteria of the hospital. They sat in a booth that was next to a wall that was a glass window. The cafeteria was pretty big that you could say and it was also lively. The walls were of a light yellow color and the floor was marble white that complimented the white tables and dark green chairs and booths. Miwa was drinking an iced green tea and Mokuba was drinking a coke.
"Did you know that she was expecting?", asked Mokuba looking at Miwa for an answer as he was holding his drink. Miwa looked at him and sighed before she answered his question.
"Yes, I did. I figured it out a few days ago actually during a training exercise", answered Miwa as she then took a sip of her tea.
"Figured it out?", questioned Mokuba confused.
"It's not like she out right told me. I noticed that her energy levels were low and her charkra was different. That can only happen if she were pregnant and also…it was a close call to which I could have killed that baby myself. I scolded her for not telling me before we started training", answered Miwa as she was looking at her cup now grasping it tightly.
"Sounds like she didn't really tell anybody", simply stated Mokuba looking at Miwa.
"She didn't. Not yet anyway. She wasn't ready at the time but life never goes the way we want it to does it", said Miwa looking at him now. "You shouldn't feel too bad about it Mokuba. She was scared and there is also the not knowing how your brother would take it part of the situation", simply said Miwa looking at him for some understanding.
"My brother…he wasn't always like this. He used to smile and had fun back then before our parents died. Then we were placed in the foster care system because there was no one left to care for us. I used to get bullied a lot so my brother would always protect me and then eventually…because of a chess match that he challenged Gozaburo Kaiba to he won our adoption. Gozaburo owned KaibaCorp before my brother did. He pushed my brother into his studies and business…to the point of using harsh methods to push him to his limits; he didn't think twice to use me. When Gozaburo tried using Setos virtual system for war that's when he did hit his limit and decided to take over Kaibacorp. He persuaded the Big Five shareholders of the company to overthrow Gozaburos' rule to which they did by using me as well because I owned 2% of it at the time", said Mokuba remembering what had happened back then as he looked to his coke as he grasped it tightly.
"Is that so", said Miwa as she was looking at her iced green tea as well.
"Five years ago…that's when we met Yugi and his friends in which Anzu Mazaki turned out to be one of them. My brother could only see Yugi as a rival at first but eventually as time went by…I guess you can say they became friends. However, he tends to bicker with Joey and Tristan a bit and with Anzu… I really didn't know what he thought of her back then. When fate reunited us on that morning of the incident when she got hurt…seeing my brother aiding her…stopping her bleeding with his tie I could see that things would start changing. I'm glad…that we met them…that we met her", simply said Mokuba as he then turned to look at the window that showed a beautiful landscape of the city.
"Did you think that Kaiba could not feel all that weight of having your life and his over his shoulders? He was never indifferent to your feelings Mokuba… he just knew how much your life is worth", simply said Miwa looking at him now.
"From now on Miwa…you've got my help", simply replied Mokuba with a small smile as he was grateful that they had talked.
"Then your fool", replied Miwa said simply as she gave him a small smile.
"You do know that if my brother were to find out about you training Anzu while she's pregnant, he might kill you, right?", questioned Mokuba.
"He could try but he wouldn't be getting anywhere. Anyway it's entirely up to Anzu what she wants to do. We've already agreed that she would stop at the 2 month mark and that she would pick it right back up after her baby is born. I am medic and I know when she's at her limit so this really shouldn't be a problem", said Miwa as she was now drinking her iced green tea. Just then Mokuba felt his phone vibrate in his jacket pocket causing him to answer. Once opened it revealed a text message from his brother.
"Seto says he's going back to work and to keep tabs on Anzu", said Mokuba as he notified Miwa at the same time as he placed his phone on the table.
"I should get back to the shop seeing that Anzus' in good hands", replied Miwa as she stood up causing Mokuba to stand up as well.
"Miwa, we should hang out tomorrow", said Mokuba giving her his goofy smile.
"Heh, your too young for me kid", said Miwa as she gave him a surprised look.
"It's not a date, but I thought we could use a day off from everything that's happened but you know a date wouldn't be too bad either", joked Mokuba as he gave her an attractive smile.
"Fine", sighed Miwa as she jabbed his forehead a little causing him to give her a goofy smile.
"Bring Shinji, I'm sure he needs a break too. How's his arm?", asked Mokuba concerned.
"He's fully recovered", answered Miwa.
"That's good to hear. I'll see you guys tomorrow then. I'll send for you guys so we can meet up at the estate", said Mokuba as he left to see Anzu giving her a goofy smile.
Once Mokuba reached Anzus room he saw her sleeping as her heart monitor was steady. He could hear footsteps getting closer causing him to look to his right.
" ", greeted Mokuba.
"I have good news; she will be discharged tomorrow morning. She will be needing to take care of herself and the baby. I will be prescribing some vitamins that she needs to be taking for the time being. Make sure she follows up with her appointments and her nutrition as that is vital for them both", said Dr. Mullins informing Mokuba.
"Will do", answered Mokuba as he turned back to a beautiful sleeping Anzu. After receiving the news he went ahead and stepped inside Anzus' room. As subtle as he was trying to be so he would not wake her up; he did not quite hit the mark as she slowly opened her eyes.
"Hey", greeted Mokuba.
"Hey", greeted Anzu with a small smile.
"How do you feel?", asked Mokuba as he was now standing on her right side of the bed.
"Sore but…happy", answered Anzu as she looked him as she then pressed a button on the hospital bed remote that caused her upper body to be moved at a siting positon. She then motioned for her brother in-law to sit in front of her.
"You know…you gave me and my brother a scare", said Mokuba looking at her.
"That wasn't my intention ", said Anzu as she quickly looked away blushing.
"I know; I understand", said Mokuba as he gave her an understanding look.
"Does that mean…that you know?", asked Anzu as she placed her right hand over her hospital gown that hid her stomach.
"Yup. We were the first to be notified of you being here and of your current condition", said Mokuba still looking at her.
"I see", said Anzu still looking away still blushing.
"Can you answer me this?", asked Mokuba curious.
"What?", asked Anzu as she looked at him now as the blush faded away.
"How did he…my brother…react towards the news?", asked Mokuba as he used his right hand placing it behind his head absent mindedly as he looked away and then back to her.
"Uh", simply said Anzu as she was surprised at first as to why he had asked her that question but then she softened her eyes to answer. "He wasn't happy with me at first that I kept my pregnancy away from him but then…he surprised me. He is happy that he is going to be a father", smiled Anzu as she then looked to the bright blue sky that is now turning darker as it was now after 5 in the afternoon.
"I know he's my brother but I'm still surprised. I'm happy though…that he's changing", said Mokuba as he smiled back at Anzu. After their conversation Mokuba left Anzu to rest as she had a long day. As it was close to being dinner time he decided to drive up to Kaibacorp to meet up with Seto as he was also going to inform him on Anzus' status. As he was now in front of Setos' office door he knocked on it to get a confirmation to come in.
"Come in", called out Kaiba sternly.
"Hey, dad to be?", said Mokuba jokingly about it as he gave his brother the Seto Kaiba trade mark smirk he had inherited from his brother. That statement caught Kaiba off guard for a second as his cheeks showed a small hint of red on them but still managed to give his younger brother a glare.
"I see you have free time on your hands", stated Kaiba still glaring at the younger Kaiba for his taunting.
"Not really, I came to see if you wanted to have dinner with me", asked Mokuba as he closed the office door and sat one of the chairs that was placed in front of kaibas' desk.
"Sure", simply replied Kaiba as he was closing his file documents on the computer and closing the green filed folders that he had opened on his desk." I need a break anyway", sighed Kaiba as he used his right hand placing his fingers on the brink of his nose to place a bit of pressure and then let go.
"So where to?", asked Mokuba as he stood up as he started walking to the door as his older brother followed suit.
"You pick, I don't really care ", said Kaiba as he closed his office door behind him.
"Japanese sounds like a good start", suggested Mokuba as he placed his hands behind his head.
Seto and Mokuba found a Japanese restaurant nearby as they sat at a booth that was next to a window. The restaurant itself was not bad at all as it seemed just like the ones back home which is why he felt like eating Japanese. In a way he missed eating food from their home. It didn't take long to order and to receive their food and drinks.
"How is she?", asked Kaiba as took his chopsticks.
"She's fine. said that she will be discharged tomorrow morning. She also said she will be needing to take care of herself and the baby. I will be prescribing some vitamins that she needs to be taking for the time being and to sure she follows up with her appointments and her nutrition as that is vital for them both", answered Mokuba as he grabbed his chopsticks to start eating his spicy tuna roll.
"I'll leave you to pick her up tomorrow", simply said Kaiba as he took a slice of his beef sashimi and ate it.
"Actually, I think it would be best if you did", suggested Mokuba taking another bite of his roll.
"I have work but you already know that", countered Kaiba as he just took another piece of sashimi into his mouth.
"You're the CEO of your own company which means that you can go in whenever you want", said Mokuba as he took a sip of his hot green tea.
"And you have free time on your hands", countered Kaiba again as he took a sip of his hot green tea.
"First off, I'm not married to Anzu. Second, you're the father. Third, I have plans tomorrow", answered Mokuba as he finished his roll.
"Oh", said Kaiba intrigued at his brothers' response.
"I have a date actually", said Mokuba as he then started eating his beef ramen bowl.
"Date? Aren't you a little young to be dating?", asked Kaiba taunting him a bit.
"I don't think so", said Mokuba as he slurped his ramen.
"And who exactly agreed to this date of yours?", questioned Kaiba as he just stared at his bother with a cocky and confident smile awaiting for his brothers answer.
"Kawase", answered Mokuba confidently because he knew what kind of response he would be getting from his brother. Kaibas' right eye twitched a bit at his response but he kept his composure so he could counter.
"Dating older women huh?", answered Kaiba jokingly as he gave Mokuba a game face smirk as if he was calling his brothers bluff. Mokuba laughed a little but then he realized that his brother just joked about something which caused him to look surprised.
"Did you just…make a joke?", asked Mokuba amazed.
"Heh, I was just calling your bluff", simply said Kaiba as he just closed his eyes to sigh.
"So you did make a joke", stated Mokuba as he stared at his brother studying him hoping that he would admit it but decided to let it go. "Anyway it's not a date as Shinji is coming too. I think a little R&R wouldn't hurt anyone", said Mokuba as he smiled at his brother who was now eating his beef ramen that he ordered.
It was the next day morning as Anzu woke up to the morning sunlight that was shining through the window revealing the blue skys of the city. She remembered that she had extra clothes in her changing bag which one of her classmates had handed to the EMC workers that were transporting her to the hospital besides the ballet outfit that she wore that day. She stood up from her bed but she quickly noticed that her right foot was bandaged and once placing weight on it realized that it was sprained. Just then room service came in with some fresh fruit and oat meal with some whole wheat toast. Her drink was a fresh squeezed orange juice along with some whole milk. Once the tray was set on her table that was then moved infront of her she went ahead and started eating to replenish her energy. She after she finished quickly attended her foot as she managed to focus all her charkra to heal her foot to which she could now step on. She then took of her bandage so her foot wouldn't feel the pressure of the bandage. She noticed that she had a shower in her room and took advantage of it. She then changed into her sleevless light pink jacket hoody along with a white dress that was empired waist and sleevless. The empire line was tight around with red ribbon lace that finished with a bow on the side. Her flats were red and white floral laced design that complimented her outfit. Her hair was still a bit wet despite having dried it a bit. She placed on a bit of eyeliner and mascara and placed on heart shaped diamond pedant that was finished off with a white gold chain. She then sprayed herself with an apricot sentenced perfume. She walked out to the bed to gather all her things when she heard the door open.
"I'm all set Moku-", said Anzu midway but stopped once she saw who it was. "Sorry… I assumed that Mokuba…"said Anzu trailing off.
"I thought it would be better if I were the one to take you home", said Kaiba as he closed the door behind him. He was wearing a white suit jacket with a zipper and a navy blue v-neck cotton shirt. They were accompanied with black jean type pants and black dress shoes and wearing his trade mark black metal Kaibacorp belt. In his left hand he held a bouquet of white roses tied by navy blue ribbon which Anzu noticed in surprise as she looked at as if she were caught in headlights.
"Why the stare?", questioned Kaiba staring back at her.
"I'm not", quickly countered Anzu as she looked away blushing slightly as she took a second glance and looked away again.
"Oh. Your face says otherwise Anzu", smirked Kaiba as he countered her figuring out the reason for her unexpected expression.
"I just didn't expect…I've never seen you dress so casual before…and you just said my first name", said Anzu still looking away blushing.
"That's not anything new. I've said your name before just not often. We are married now so it's to be expected. As for the casual…I'm not going in today", said Kaiba as he starded walking up to her.
"Will you be doing this often now?", asked Anzu as he was making her sweat as he was now standing infront of her now.
"No, not often. Here, I brought you these", simply said Kaiba as he held the bouquet of white roses in between them. Anzu then looked at them and reached out for them placing her hands on his left hand that held the bouquet as he then let it go.
"They're beautiful Seto", said Anzu as she softened her eyes towards them and her husband. "May I…hug you", asked Anzu nervous as she started blushing again as she looked at him. In return he only embraced her as he placed his face in her hair as his arms were only holding her softly.
"Mazaki...honestly why do you ask? We've done more than just embrace at this point", sighed Kaiba as he then kissed her forehead as Anzu was looking at his chest. "I've already had you in bed and I have to admit that you look beautiful as your still blushing infront of me right now", bluntly said Kaiba as he brushed one of her layered bangs off her face.
"I…", stopped Anzu as she just sighed as she really couldn't find anything to say.
"We should get going", said Kaiba as he let her go to grab her things to leave opening the door for her.
