School Life Chapter 14- Thursday
So this history lesson is actually just a longer version of the story Igneel told Natsu and Nova in my other story, Dragon Heart- Natsu and Lisanna. Anyway, on with the story. Bold means it was a text message
…..
Lisanna looked at her friend, noting how angry she looked. "Well, let me just tell you everything from today after science. When I had to stay and clean up," the silver haired girl stated as she took a seat on the edge of her bed. Levy followed suit, jumping on her own bed, eager to hear the story.
"At first we were just talking about random things, like, how hungry we were, our magic, classes, squirrels," Lisanna started causing Levy to raise an eyebrow at the last topic. "He was curious what my magic was and what it was like going to a normal high school."
"Okay, what is the big secret you are hiding from me?"
"We got onto the topic of Lucy and he confided to me, and I guess Cobra and the teacher because they could hear too, that her behavior was getting annoying. He also apologized to me for Lucy's behavior, that she isn't normally like that," Lisanna continued.
"Then he explained his relationship with her," Lisanna said, glancing at Levy. "They were engaged."
"WHAT?!" Levy yelled, her voice full of surprise.
"It was an arranged marriage set up by their parents. However, it was called off by Natsu after his dad disappeared seven years ago."
"Let me guess, Natsu never loved Lucy like that, but Lucy did," Levy said after letting the information sink in.
"Exactly. He only ever saw her as a friend while Lucy was in love with him," Lisanna confirmed. "Lucy never got over him and is doing what she can to try and get him to love her back."
"That explains why she hates your guts," Levy commented. "Because Natsu likes you. Anything else happen?"
"Well, after that, to lighten the mood, I told him a joke. Then he told me one, and it turned into a joke contest. Half way through, Cobra joined in. For an arrogant ass, he is really funny. He even told a joke that got Mystogan to laugh," Lisanna recounted with a small laugh as she remembered the joke.
"Is that all?" Levy asked, staring Lisanna down, determined to extract every piece of information.
"That's it, I promise," Lisanna replied, crossing her heart.
"Well, either way, tomorrow morning we are going to find Natsu so you can beg forgiveness and go on a date with him. Then I can watch ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after.
"You read some cheesy fairy tale story last night didn't you?" Lisanna asked with a smile.
"Yup!" Levy beamed.
"Disney must hate me," Lisanna mused. "What type of crazed story has the princess fall in love with the dragon while the prince is nonexistent?"
"Welcome to the world of magic, my friend, where nothing ever makes sense."
….
I guess Natsu didn't show today. I hope everything is okay, Levy read.
I guess not, and I hope so too, the bookworm texted back.
So what now? Lisanna responded as soon as Laxus turned his back to the class.
We just continue with the plan tomorrow. Unless you want to go to his room after classes? Levy replied, knowing the idea would embarrass Lisanna.
No! That's embarrassing, besides we don't even know which room he lives in.
Gajeel is his roommate, and he is sitting two feet from me. It wouldn't be hard to ask which room he lives in. Levy responded with a winky face.
That would be a funny moment, you asking Gajeel which room he lives in. Jet and Droy would throw a fit, and don't even get me started on the sadistic grin and perverted comment he would give you.
You're right, but at least then, we would know which room.
Do not ask him, and I gotta pay attention before I get caught. Who knows what Laxus would do, probably read the messages out loud.
True, that is a scary thought. I'll just sit here and read my book.
….
"So when do you think the history teacher will recover from his mental break down?" Alzack asked.
"Wasn't the teacher a normal person?" Levy asked.
"Yeah, why?" Bisca answered as she munched on some crackers.
"Then never," Lisanna responded. "He will most likely not recover or if he does, not come back to this place. I'm actually surprised he took the job to begin with."
"You trying to imply something there, Shrimp's friend?" Gajeel growled as he glared at Droy. Droy took the hint, realizing the growl was meant for him and not Lisanna, and relinquished his seat next to Levy to the Dragon Slayer.
"Yes. The faculty and students here are very dangerous for regular people to be around. Especially you Dragon Slayers," Levy said, staring at the pierced teen.
"Not my fault they're weak," the Iron Dragon Slayer said in his rough voice, as he plopped his feet on top of the desk. The male reached down and pulled a piece of scrap metal out of his ripped school bag and started chewing on it.
"Class, find your seats! Gajeel, feet off the desk. Gray, Lyon, put your clothes on," the Principal said as he walked into the class, right as the bell rang. The students leaned forward, peering over their desks to see the short man.
Levy watched, slightly amused at how Gajeel quickly took his feet off the desk. Then she thought about how strong the principal must be to scare even a Dragon Slayer into following rules. She felt a cold shiver go down her spine.
"Good, now I think I found a new history teacher for you all, but we are still finalizing some things, so hopefully Monday, she will start," the old man stated as he jumped on top of the teacher's desk (quite agilely for his age) so the students could hear and see him better. "As for today's lesson, let's talk about the story of the first mage." Lisanna watched Levy's eyes gleam with joy. Of course she would love this story, it involved dragons and a princess, and magic.
"So, the legend goes that after the great creator created the Earth, she created Dragons to inhabit it. She was happy with just these creatures living there and saw no reason to create others. So she simply spent her days watching her Dragons go about their lives.
Well, something caught her eye one day and she realized that she miscalculated. What she saw was another creature, one she didn't create.
At first she was confused, not knowing how it came to be, this little two legged thing. Then more and more creatures started appearing. Others that looked like the first, and some that looked nothing like it. That's when it dawned on her that the Dragons were the ones creating these creatures. But they seemed just as surprised, so they weren't doing it intentionally.
The magic that she gave the dragons was not being completely contained in their bodies and was leaking out, affecting other things. That's why a pine cone became a squirrel, because it was warped by the excess magic.
The creator looked down at all of these and got angry. She didn't like them. Compared to her beautiful dragons, they were ugly. She was ready to strike them all down when he noticed how happy they made the dragons.
The dragons enjoyed having other creatures to share their large home with. Seeing her dragons happy, made her happy, so she let the creatures be. The dragons, realizing that they were the reason these other creatures existed, felt responsible for their wellbeing. They taught the creatures the law of the land, how to survive, where the best food was, everything they needed to know. Then they came to one species of creature that sparked their interest. Unlike the other creatures, this one had no claws or fangs, or fur or wings. But there was a spark in their eyes that spoke of intelligence and curiosity that would let them take on any challenge and come out on top.
They named the species, Human.
So the dragons gathered together all the humans and gave them a piece of land to live on. They taught the Humans how to survive. Taught them everything but magic.
And so the humans grew and soon no longer needed the dragons to watch over them. The dragons knew this and went back to their old days, leaving the humans to grow as they see fit.
A couple hundred years passed and the humans had grown to numbers that surprised even the dragons. They demanded more and more land and resources, and the dragons gave it to them. But they realized to their and the creator's displeasure, that the humans were the new dominant species, pushing all others to the side. The humans grew greedy and the creator so badly wished to strike them down, show them that they are not the most powerful beings out there. But she couldn't it. Her power derives from the prayers and beliefs of the species. The humans had forgotten about her and with none of them believing in her, she did not have the power to strike fear into their hearts.
She could only watch as the humans warred against each other, killing and dying the land red with blood. Then the war escalated. Everyone had chosen a side, everyone was fighting. And the sides were evenly tied.
One side realized that the only way to gain the upper hand was to obtain magic. So the kind sent out some of his best silver tongues to find the dragons, to ask them, or trick them into teaching them magic. The dragons refused.
That's when the name of the war was created. The 'War of the Princess'. The king, angry that the dragons refused, decided to guilt them into teaching his soldiers magic. The king took his own daughter, princess of the land, and locked her in a tower, threatening to starve her to death if the dragons did not reconsider.
Most of the dragons felt sorry for the innocent princess, saying that she didn't deserve to die because of her father's selfishness. Some of them anyway. Others felt that if they let the girl die then maybe the humans would realize that they would not teach magic to them.
But majority fell in line with believing they owed the poor child something. The dragons started to gather, to discuss what they should do to help the princess. While they did that, they would send, at night a smaller dragon to give the princess food.
After a week, the dragons decided that they would break the girl out of the tower and teach her their magic, while teaching the humans a lesson.
One of the dragons who was able to create images, created a replica of the princess after they snuck in and broke her out. This replica was to 'die' and convince the humans that the dragons would not teach them magic.
The dragons took the princess and stashed her away in an abandoned farm house in the middle of nowhere, somewhere that would keep her out of sight of other humans. They came to her in the night and told her that they would teach her their magic.
So every night, for a year, a dragon came and bestowed upon the princess the knowledge of it's magic. Of course, within this time the replica princess 'died'. This enraged the humans greatly. So much so that they started to hunt the dragons down and view them as vile beasts.
When the year was over and Princess had learned all the magic the dragons would teach her, they said that she could go and live her life how she saw fit.
She told the dragons how sorry she was that they had to be hunted and killed because of her greedy father, and she asked if they would permit her to teach magic to other humans, humans deserving of the gift in order to stop the attacks on dragons.
The dragons were hesitant at first to allow such a thing, but they agreed, so long as the human was a child under the age of thirteen and had no affiliation to anyone that might use the child's power for evil. Also, only one type of magic per child.
The princess agreed to these terms and promised the dragons that she will get people to stop hunting them.
The dragons didn't keep up with the princess after that, but fewer and fewer people were hunting them. And even in the remote places where they lived, the rumors of the dead princess adopting orphans and teaching them magic at some farm house in the middle of nowhere reached their ears.
The end," the principal said with a grin. "Oh, and look, class is almost over. Enjoy the rest of your day," the old man said as he jumped off the desk and walked out of the class.
"Why does he always leave early like that? Is he even allowed to?" Lisanna asked as she pulled her phone out.
"Who cares, that just means we can leave early ourselves," Gajeel said, grabbing his bag and walking out.
"Where do you think he goes?" Lisanna asked Levy.
"I don't know, to the gym where Lily is? Back to his room? Behind a building to smoke or kill someone?" Levy said, throwing out random suggestions.
"I vote for the last one," Jet said, beating Droy to the empty seat by Levy. "Why do you even care, he is just a thug? A precious bookworm like yourself shouldn't have to deal with him," the ginger said, giving his best shiny toothed smile.
Levy looked the boy up and down, then turned to Lisanna. "So are you sure you don't want to go there after school?"
"No Levy, besides he might not even be there, he could be at his house for all we know."
"Why don't we just ask Gajeel?" Levy responded, not giving up, "Or maybe Gray knows?"
"Know what?" the Ice Mage asked as he walked over after hearing his name.
"First, put your clothes on. Second, do you know where Natsu is?" Levy said.
Putting his shirt back on, the stripper answered with a shrug. "I don't know, just saw him leave last night. Probably to his house in the next town over. He looked pretty bummed."
"Do you think he will be back tomorrow?" Lisanna asked, worried.
"I have no idea, that squinty eyed bastard is unpredictable at best."
At that, the bell started to ring, so the girls grabbed their bags and headed to Language Elective.
…..
"Gray said Natsu lived in the next town over right?" Levy asked as she typed furiously on her laptop.
"Yeah, why?" Lisanna asked, looking up from her math homework.
"I'm looking him up online," Levy replied back causally.
"You're stalking my crush?" Lisanna asked as she got up and stood behind Levy, leaning on the back of her desk chair.
"Researching."
"Whatever. Did you find something?" the silver haired mage asked.
"Yup. Look at this," the Solid Script Mage said as she clicked on one of her tabs, bringing up an article on Natsu.
"Natsu Dragneel, son of Igneel Dragneel, mother unknown, was orphaned after his father vanished seven years ago, leaving the teen the successor of his multi-million dollar Lacrima Corporation. While the teen finished high school at Dragon Magic Academy, his fathers trusted friend and business partner is running the corporation. After his father's disappearance, his engagement with the Heartfilia's daughter, Lucy, was called off.
"That idiot is millionaire?!" Levy said, astonished. "Girl, you really need to make up with him now."
"Levy! I'm not going to date him for his money," Lisanna yelled back, offended.
"Whatever. Anyway, hopefully he shows tomorrow.
"I hope so too," Lisanna said, mostly to herself.
