The next day:

Alec and I were dressed in our casual clothes when we arrived to the dining room there was still a small table wich wasn't pushed away so we could eat breakfast. William was sitting there and to my surprise he had reading glasses on and he was reading a mundane newspaper. "Morning!" We said in unison and took our seats. For breakfast we had eggs and bacon. I started eating my food and realized Deuce wasn't here. " Where's Deuce?" I asked. "He is out making some arrangements." William answered without lifting his gaze from the newspaper. I then continued eating my food and saw that Isabelle was already finishing her's and she seemed to be fully dressed and ready to go. "Well then hurry up. I won't be waiting for the best dresses to be sold!" Izzy said as soon as she had finished eating. I stuffed the food in my mouth and rose from my chair. Alec seemed to stuff food in his mouth as quickly as he could and almost choked on it. We took some necessary stuff with us before leaving and then made our way to the front door. Everyone else was already waiting for us there. Along with Arthur and Alice. We left the institute abandoned since Deuce was away too but William told me not to mind it. We took a train to the closest mall and split in to groups where Izzy and Alice went together and the rest of us guys went together. I think it looked pretty funny. It was as if we were a gang of guys trying to flirt with girls until we went to a suit shop. Arthur seemed to find clothes to himself pretty fast and he had even time to help Alec. Me on the other hand was stuck with over excited William he did his best to help me find a suit but I wasn't a least bit interested. At least not until William mentioned to us about dance partners. Arthur obviously was dancing with Alice, Will with some faerie, Deuce with Izzy and that left me and Alec without partners. I told Will that I wanted to dance with Clary and since she wasn't here I wasn't going to dance. Alec said that he wasn't dancing either even though William tried to find him partners. When we were done we left the shop to meet up with the girls. They were waiting for us with two big bags. We then went to take a small bite for lunch and took a train back to the institute.

Back at the institute Will made us help with the decorations. The sun was already setting when we were finished and I can only say that it looked like we had done a pretty good job. The foods were already set on the tables when Will sent us to put our suits on. My suit was pretty ordinary looking black and white suit. We went to see if the guests had already arrived and saw that the ballroom was almost full and more and more people were coming through the front doors where Will stood checking names from the list. I noticed that everyone had masks on and Alec and I were the only ones who hadn't. I went down the stairs to where Will stood. "I didn't know this was a masquerade!" I hissed to him. " You didn't? Oh well now you know. You can get some extra masks from Deuce his over there next to the dining tables." Will answered and pointed the dining tables. We left Will and went to ask Deuce for extra masks. He told us to wait while he was getting them. We stood there in a corner and I could see from my place how many girls were looking at me and giggling. I winked back at them when Alec suddenly poked me. " What?" I said sounding quite annoyed. I turned to see what Alec was pointing at. Alice and Arthur had stepped inside the ballroom and many people were watching them. Arthur had a suite alike to mine except he had a red rose in his pocket and he was wearing a golden mask wich covered his eyes. Alice on the other hand had a blood red dress, a golden mask alike to Arthurs and her hair was curled on the shoulders. They approached us and I felt like they were the king and queen here. "Where's you're masks?" Arthur immediately asked when they got to us. " We didn't know it was a masquerade so Deuce had to get us extra ones." Alec answered. " Well you have to find partners quickly too since the dance is about to start" Arthur said then they bowed to us and went to the dance floor. Alec suddenly kicked me and I looked at him with furious eyes. " what did you do that for?" I hissed at him. " You were staring Her!" Alec hissed back. " Was I?" I said and suddenly felt embarrassed. I looked at them when they talked to other couples. Then Deuce came back and gave us two silver masks that had rubies in them. I put my mask on when I saw that Alice wasn't with Arthur anymore but was talking to another man. He had a blood red suit wich was almost black, he had green hair and a white mask that covered his whole face. Then he turned and looked straight at me when Arthur came past me and went to join in the conversation. " What's wrong?" said Alec who had finished putting his mask on. " I could swear that that guy looked at me right now" I said pondering who he was. It looked like everyone had arrived since Deuce and Will closed the front doors. I jogged to Will. " Hey who is that guy with Alice and Arthur?" I asked him. Will looked a bit dazzled but then answered: " He is Alice's cousin Gale Whitecross." I looked back at them and saw no resemblance in them. "Well we are going to start the dance now. Remember that everyone agreed to dance the first dance at least." Will said and took his partners hand and went to the dancefloor. I was a bit taken back butthen went and asked a faerie for a dance.

I watched as everyone else were getting dance partners and I was the only one without one. I Alec was all out of options now. I tried to gaze upon the room for girls without partners when I felt a familiar presence behind me. I turned around to see a man with purple shining suit, glittery hair, silver mask and yellow cat eyes. " Magnus?" I said in amazement. " I couldn't miss your first masquerade dance." He said and winked at me. Then we walked to the dance floor next to some other partners.

I looked to see Alec with a glittery partner and guessed it was Magnus.

Though I didn't think he would come. I saw Izzy and Will with their partners and opposite of me there was Alice with Gale. I was wondering why Alice wasn't going to dance with Arthur but I had to admit it that they looked good together even though they were related…related but doesn't that mean…

I didn't have time to think about it when the music suddenly started. It was ed sheeran's Give me love. The Dance started. It was an ancient dance that I had to practice for hours before I had learned it. When the music stopped I immediately started looking for Alice and Gale but I couldn't find them not even Arthur. They were gone.
