Author's Note: I did my best to speed up the typing process of this chapter, due to military exams, and my PFA right around the corner, and then my ship out date on the 11th of February to Fort Jackson in South Carolina, where I am not allowed to have my laptop (which saddens me greatly). I hope the three chapters I have uploaded, you will enjoy until I return to my home to finish the chapters, and update them as well as finish this story.

Spoiler Alert: This is the first Book to my Through the Secrets and Lies trilogy.

This day could not have gotten worse, first to be completely ignore by Zero then to be the center of attention. Being the center did not sit well with me, but that blond vampire was definitely a looker.

My mind wandered as I ventured the woods within the school grounds.

"There she is!" I heard a female Day Class girl with brown hair and blue eyes exclaim as she pointed at me with fire in her eyes.

"Damn! I just can't catch a break," I cursed and ran like Satan was on my heels. I turned the corner of the school building and jumped over a small wall, crouching down to avoid being seen, coming face to face with the blond vampire that my heart had claimed as mine.

I was about to ask him a question, then closed my mouth and snapped my head up to the sound of footsteps and voice.

"Who is she?" one girl questioned.

"More like, what is she?" another said.

"Yeah, did you see her run, she was like a freaking gazelle," someone else agreed.

"Come on, I think I heard something in that direction," the leader, I guess, said and their footsteps and voices faded.

I waited until they were out of ear shot range before asking, "How'd you end up here?"

"My followers, as you put it, ambushed me on my way to class," he said.

I giggled, "Poor you."

"And you? How'd you end up hiding here?" he asked.

"Your followers wanted to seek revenge on me for talking to you, I'm sure that's the reason," I said.

"I'm terribly sorry, I'm awfully famous, it seems. Well, everyone in the Night Class is," he says.

"Yes, I could tell," I smiled.

He stared at me, "What's your name?"

"Auryanna Miyoka. Yours?"

"Ichijo Takuma," he answered.

"Thank you for helping me earlier, Takuma-san," I said.

"No, the pleasure was all mine," he said, and plucked the red Orchid that I forgot was still in my hair.

"Red is my favorite color," he says.

"Blood," I said, "Because it's the color of blood."

"More or less, but it's also the color of power and passion," he said.

"Oh," I said.

"Miyoka-san, I don't know if this is an appropriate time, but I must tell you that I feel an attraction to you that I haven't felt with anyone else," he said.

"Are you sure it's not because you want my blood?" I questioned.

"Auryanna, you are a beautiful girl, you are strong and you're honest, tasting your blood would only be icing to my three-layered chocolate cake," he says.

I smiled, then frowned.

"Ever since I met you, which was like fifteen minutes ago, my heart has been acting funny and I find myself thinking of you. I don't know if this is the best decision for me to acquire a lover after I've just returned to my family," I explained.

"Just returned? Where were you before now?" he asked.

"I've been training for the last six years," I said, then stand, looking around.

"I don't want us to be simply lovers," he says.

"What? Then a Blood Contract?" I said.

"No, I want us to be more," he says.

"As attractive as you are, I don't marry guys that I've known for only twenty minutes. That doesn't sit well with me," I said.

"Then we'll 'date', as the term humans use," he says.

I quirked a brow, "And I take it you've never 'date', have you?"

"As vampires, our lifespan is everlasting unless we are killed. We have no need for dating, we simply marry and that it is our partner for life," he says.

"Then what do you want?" I said.

"It is up to you. I just wanted you to know my feelings, I don't want to cause you any distress," he says.

I exhaled, running my fingers through my hair, before hesitantly grabbing his hand, "We'll date, see how things go; if you want me as your wife after all is set and done."

A smile brightened his face.

My smile matched his.

Then I frowned, "But won't your Dorm Leader be upset with you?"

"Quite possibly. But I'm curious to see where this ends up with you, I've already claimed you as mine, but the feeling has to be mutual before we can actually take it to the next step," he says, locking our fingers together.

"Your hands are cold," I stated.

"Then you have the greatest honor of warming them with your own," he said, then hugged me.

"You know, I can't tell if you're being charismatic or flirty with me," I said.

"Me either," he says, "Probably both."

"Probably both," I repeated laughingly.

He kissed me on the cheek then pulled away.

"Are we going to keep this a secret?" I asked.

"I doubt we can," he says, "Kaname-sama already knows and when I have something I like or is important to me, I flaunt it."

"You're trying to get me killed, aren't you?" I grimaced.

"Not at all," he says, "I'm trying to make you fall head over hills in love with me."

I laughed, "You're quite the smooth-talker. I'm going to have to be on my toes around you."

He laughed back.

"Now, we both need to be somewhere, and standing around like a couple of love birds is not one of them," I said.

"Yes," he said, "Then I'll be on my way."

Our hands slowly came apart.

I watched as he walked away, and my heart felt full. And I realized, maybe I had already fallen in love him.

But love at first sight was completely unheard of, nearly nonexistent.

I sighed, trying to calm my heart when Yuki and Zero stepped into view.

"I'm happy for you," Yuki said and wrapped her arms around me.

Guess it's too late to ask what they heard.

I smiled sadly.

"What's wrong?" she asked, pulling back.

"N-nothing," I lied, "Let's go see the Chairman, I'm sure that's why you came to look for me."

I was elated, Takuma seemed like the perfect gentlemen, that he could make me happy.

So why did I feel so uneasy?

I looked at Zero and he looked away.

That. Was why I felt uneasy, perturbed.

Ever since I got back, Zero hasn't talked to me, he hasn't even acknowledged me, and that is what made me uneasy. Actually, it made me angry.

"You know what, I'm not leaving until I know something," I said, then pushed Zero against the wall with as much strength as I could muster, it put a dent in the wall, but at this moment, I couldn't care about that.

"What the hell is your problem?!" I said.

"What's yours?" he threw back at me.

"I come back from my training and you're the only one treating me like I don't exist, why is that, Kiryu?" I said.

"You left us! You left Yuki to cry over you, wondering if you were ever coming back and that air-head of a father worried about you everyday," he said.

"Yes, I know, father already told me these things. What I want to know is how did you feel, Zero, I know how Yuki felt because she wasn't afraid to express herself, I know how father felt because I could see it in his eyes. What I want to know is how you felt, you are the only one who has a stoic expression, no expression at all, or who hides it with a hateful gaze and scowl. Tell me, Zero, right now. How did you feel?"

"I resented you for leaving me alone," he said after a few moments of silence.

"Now was that so hard?" I said.

"You could've stayed with us. You shouldn't have gone away to where ever it was," he said.

I pulled away from him and screamed in anger until my voice was hoarse.

"God dammit, Zero! Are listening to me?" I yelled.

"Yes, I hear you loud and clear. You left. You up and left us. Why did you leave, Auryanna? Huh, why did you leave-?"

"Because I was weak!"

"Wha-"

"Zero, beyond anyone in that household, I expected you to know how that felt, better than anyone. I was weak and broken."

"Why would-?"

"Why? Do you really need to ask that? Pieces of my life were missing, Zero! Pieces that should've been there, but weren't, they were just gone, I couldn't access them nor could I even get a glimpse. I didn't feel like a whole person, I felt weak and I felt broken. And I didn't want to feel like that, I wanted to get stronger to find out who I was, hell, I still don't know if I'm even human, if I was someone important to someone else. I despised that helplessness. So pardon me for wanting to become something, become someone that didn't want to be constantly protected. I wanted become my own person, so I'm so sorry if what I did didn't fit into your plans," I said, I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

Yuki tried to comfort me, but I stepped back, "No."

I know it hurt Yuki, and I know all she was trying to do was help me, but couldn't feel it, I was not going to play the victim card. I began to walk away.

"Auryanna, where are you going?" Yuki asked.

"I'm going to continue patrolling, you both can go the Chairman's office without me," I said and continued walking, not even dare to glance back at Yuki's face or Zero's.

When I walked far enough away, and who knows where I was, I hit a tree open palmed, it stung, but I kept hitting it.

Damn him! How dare he make it all about him, I'm not some puppet to manipulate, I have my own life as well.

I came across two male students from the Night Class and two female students from the Day Class.

I scowled. I didn't need this.

"Hey!" I said, announcing my presence.

All four students turned to face me.

I pointed at the two male students, "Shouldn't you two be in class?"

I turned around and pointed at the girls, "And shouldn't you two be in your dorm rooms?"

They looked sheepish.

"Well, well, we got ourselves a couple of rule breakers," I said, then looked at the girls, "Now, if you don't want me to report you to the Chairman's office, I suggest you two scram like the end of the world is near."

"I'm sorry," the auburn-haired girl said, "She hurt her knee."

I looked at the smaller girl with light brown hair, then looked at her knee.

It was banged up pretty good, bleeding.

I scowled, damn.

I sighed, "I'm going to help you, but don't you dare tell anyone, got it?"

They looked at each other tentatively.

"Come on, I'm not going to eat you. You have more of a chance of that happening with blond hair blue eyes over there," I said, then kneeled down beside her knee.

"I wouldn't mind having Aido-sempai eat me," she said.

"Wow, I didn't think girls could be perverts, but you just proved me wrong," I teased.

"I'm not a pervert!" she was red.

"Alright, alright. Simmer down, and don't move," I smirked.

I hovered my tip of my fingers over the scrape and watched as the bleeding stopped and the skin mended as if there had never been a wound there.

"Whoa! What was that?!" she asked.

"Magic," I lied, then, "Now, both of you to your dorms. I don't want to get you in trouble but if it happens again, I will personally escort you to the Chairman's office, got it?"

"Yes!" they said in unison and scurried off in the opposite direction.

I exhaled and turned to the two Night students.

"What are your names?" I asked.

"Why would we tell you?" the blue-eyed one snapped.

Anger rising.

"So I can address you properly. Or would you prefer that I call you blue-eyed idiot and fire-head?" I asked.

Blue eyes grit his teeth.

"Yeah, I thought not," I said, then repeated, "Your names?"

"Hanabusa Aido," the blue eyed one answered reluctantly.

"Akatsuki Kain," fiery hair said.

I pinched the bridge of my nose, then looked up at them, "Kain-san and Aido-san, I don't have to tell you that your Dorm Leader won't be very happy to hear that you two snuck out of the classroom like a couple of phrat boys going to a party, do I?"

Aido glared at me.

"Glare all you want, Aido. You're in the wrong not me," I said.

His eyes glowed red.

I snorted, "You doesn't scare me. I already know what you are."

"What are you?" Kain asked, "You healed like girl like you were one of us, but you smell human."

"As far as I know, I'm just a human with some extraordinary abilities," I answered.

"What do you mean?" Kain pressed.

"Chunks of my memories are missing," I said.

"Miss Prefect, you're bleeding," Aido said, hunger in his gaze.

I already knew where this was going.

"Aido, if you attack me, I will you put you down, do you understand?" I said, but he simply smiled, showing me his fangs.

Shit.

He moved faster than my eye could see, grabbing the hand I had hit the tree with.

My palm was painted red.

How could I not have felt that?

He licked my palm slowly like he was savoring a delicious meal; I grew wet and moaned at the same time.

Aido looked up at me in shock, and that was all the time I needed to use my captured wrist and fling him over my shoulder, then to pin him down his stomach.

I took Maretsu from my waist, in her Rest state she was a dagger, but I rubbed my thumb over the ruby on her face and she grew. I sank her blade into the soil beside Aido's head.

I looked up at Akatsuki, "If you try anything, I will take you out."

He raised his hands in surrender, "I believe you."

I turned back to Aido, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk. Aido-san, this could've gone way different if you had just taken my words and walked back to your classroom, like a good little vampire. But you just had to be hard headed. And now look at you, pinned down to the ground, by a girl, a human girl at that. Man, your pride has got to be on fire right now...would you like some ice for your burn, Aido-san?'

"Funny you should mention ice," he said and tried use his ice powers.

Every time one tried to form, I would devour it.

I chuckled darkly, "Ice user. I knew I smelt water on you."

I turned to Kain, "And the ashes must be coming from you. Fire user?"

He demonstrated.

I nodded with respect for him then turned back to Aido, "And I suppose you two are cousins?"

"How could you tell?" Kain asked.

"You smell similar," I answered, then asked, "Now, tell me, Akatsuki-kun, why didn't you stop your idiot cousin, but accompany him instead?"

"I just wanted to make sure he didn't get himself into trouble," he said.

"Aido was in trouble the moment he step foot outside that classroom. Matter fact, both of you were, since you came with him," I stated.

Kaname, Zero, Takuma, and Yuki came into view.

"Oh my! Look who's here?" I said with false joy.

"What are you?!" he exclaimed.

I chuckled darkly, "You want to know." my expression darkened and my voice thinned, "I'm your worst nightmare if you ever cross me again."

"All I did was lick the blood of your hand, it's not like I bit you," he said.

"But I'm sure you would've if I had stood there like a statue, frozen in fear," I said, then roughly pulled him up and threw him to Kaname.

"Here's your world class idiot. You should keep him on a tighter leash next time. Because if I catch him, his ass is grass, you take that check and cash it," I said, then licked the blood off my palm.

"Auryanna, let me heal that for you," Takuma strode to me.

"I can do it myself," I said proudly.

"It's not very lady like, Auryanna. You like a cat grooming herself," he said.

"Who says I'm not?" I quirked an eyebrow at him.

"Auryanna?" he insisted.

I gave in.

"Fine," I said him my still bleeding hand.

In a matter of seconds it stopped and the skin mended back together.

I looked up at him, "Thank you."

"I like your eyes like that," he says.

"Like what?" my eyebrows furrowed in question.

"When they're sparkling, it means you're happy," he says.

I looked back at Yuki, and she looked back at me.

Want him. my body demanded, Aido's saliva laced with aphrodisiac raced through my veins, clouding my judgement.

I pulled Takuma in for an unexpected kiss, but obviously not too unexpected because he just went with the flow.

He tasted sweet with a drop of spice, like his personality.

Goosebumps raised on my arms and I pulled away quickly before this simple kiss turned into something else.

I was already turned on from Aido's lick, much to my own chagrin.

"Whoa," Takuma chuckled, grinning brightly, "What was that for?"

"I wasn't thinking properly," I answered honestly.

He pulled me into his arms, and whispered in my ear, "So much for keeping a low profile."

I laughed, "And who's fault is that?"

"Yours," he answered.

I hit him on the shoulder with a laugh.

"Ow," he whined.

I laughed, "Oh, that did not hurt you."

I turned to Kaname and bowed.

"I support that you two get along, but I cannot condone this sort of relationship between a human and a vampire," Kaname said.

I smiled, and grabbed Takuma's hand, "You're going to have to catch me first."

I felt the power build and we were standing in front of the Night Dorms.

Takuma looked at me, "I can see that I'm going to enjoy my life with you."

I smiled and kissed him.

I couldn't agree more.
