There was a loud pounding on my door and I was going to kill whoever it was. They could just stay on the other side because I was not going to open it at; I looked at my phone, 5 in the morning. Who would be crazy enough to want to be up at this time?
I thought back to yesterday and my day with my three Cullen's.
Flashback:
I stared at Jasper as he just stared at the ground. I knew that if this talk was going to happen, I was going to be the one to have to start it. I sent him waves of trust, love,, and hope and saw the corners of his mouth turn up.
"Now listen here you ass. What happened on my birthday was not your fault. There were 6 other vampires in the room that wanted a taste of me." I saw his head come up so I took a couple steps toward him; he looked like he wanted to flee. "Your ability magnified your own thirst by taking in all of theirs. So it wasn't just you, it was all of you."
"I should have learned to run away in situations like that, I still take full responsibility"
"No, you don't get too, I won't let you. You also have to factor in that I am Edward's singer, which makes my blood call to him more powerfully than even 7 vampires lust combined. If anyone is to blame, it's him; he's the one that wanted me, he's the one that brought me into your world, he's the one that couldn't handle the pull. He maybe older Jasper, but he is by far younger than you in controller his thirst." I walked up to him and grabbed his hand, I needed him to understand, it wasn't his fault.
"Bella, I…"
"You will say thank-you and I love you. Then you will take Alice and go hunt. Your eyes have been black this entire time we have been talking." He looked shocked and turned to look at himself in the mirror. "Like I said more control than anything, I have faith in you Jasper, and I will tell you everyday it wasn't your fault if you need to hear it." He turned back and pulled me in for a hug.
"Thank-you!" He whispered and ran off; I could hear Alice giggling somewhere.
Emmett came down after and we played a couple of video games, he was so proud that I almost beat him a couple times. I would be up and winning and just before the game was over, he would go and cheat and win. We also played some board games and took a walk in the woods.
We talked about how we both have been doing and for the first time in a long time I let myself be completely open, telling him everything. About how it was when me and Edward first started dating all the way till the other night. He just listened to everything I had to say and would comment about something here and there, but other than that he truly was being my big brother in that moment.
He even opened up about the whole Rosalie situation, going back until the first day he opened his eyes and found her by his side. He told me he did love her but it wasn't the same love he did when he first opened his eyes. Saying he knew it had been over for a while now but couldn't bring himself to hurt her like that and was so relieved when she left.
We joked around about us two being single and how we couldn't wait to go out dancing and drink ourselves stupid. Emmett really seemed more laid back than he was when Rosalie was around and I was glad that he was finally feeling himself and not her toy. The only thing he complained about was not being able to have sex. And that led to what happened between Jake and I and I know I had completely shocked him.
We ran back to the house when the sun started to set and he made me a big dinner. I had forgotten about eating until he had mentioned something and then I was starved when I smelled the mouth watering food. He wasn't a bad cook and I had to say he was almost as good as Esme. When I told him that he said when Rosalie left he took up culinary courses at the local college. After he fed me he drove me home.
Jasper and Alice still weren't home and I shuddered at the thought of what they had been doing all day and was so happy to not have to live with them. I told Emmett if he wanted he could sleep on the couch but of course he declined, saying my house stunk like wet dog.
Then we talked some more about Jake, I mentioned how he was now to the way he was before I left. Even mentioning how he was able to get into the club and get drinks at his age, along with the rest of the group. Emmett tried saying it was because he was a total hunk and no one would have been able to resist him, I knew he was partially referring to his looks, I on the other hand said it was because he looked almost 10 years past his age so no one needed to card them.
We joked about that for a while until Emmett and I started talking about the wedding and asked if I was going to be living with Charlie once him and Sue were married. I mentioned the plans for my new business and the two houses I had purchased, along with my plans of building new houses for the guys on the reservation. It was close to midnight when he finally left.
The pounding continued and when I finally opened the door Jake stood there, shirtless; again.
"What do you want? I told you to leave me alone!" I told him and turned from him, looking outside and seeing the guys from the car rental company come and collect the car. It was a nice car but I was so happy to have my bike that I wasn't all that sad to see it go.
When Jake and I had that big fight and I rolled out the car and had Paul drive me home, I realized I couldn't get around anymore since I wasn't talking to Jake. So I called the closest car rental company and had them drop off a car; it was a black Volvo, shocking huh? The guy I talked to said the company was owned by some local chick with Blonde hair and I knew it was Rosalie.
When I asked Emmett about it, he said Rosalie decided to start investing her money in things she loved. So she bought out a couple garages and car dealerships and has been throwing herself into it full time since they left Forks. So yes I was shocked to learn all of this, even more shocked to get a Volvo, and a little bit bad to see it go. It brought back a lot of good memories and I had to think if she didn't do it on purpose.
"How did you know? About me, the guys?" I was brought out by him shaking me. He looked down at what I was wearing and I could see him Adam's apple bobbing. He licked his lips as his eyes got darker.
I pulled away from him and grabbed the pajama bottoms that came with the shirt. This will remind me to never sleep in just panties and a shirt again, no matter where I am.
"I've known for the longest time."
"Yes, but how Bella?" I could see his nose crunch up and back away from me. Guess he finally got a whiff of Emmett.
"So remember when you told me about the legends, that day on the beach?" He nodded. "Well that was because I was doing research on the Cullen's, but that not important right now. So after they left and I started hanging with you I started having these weird dreams about the legends and you. When you stopped hanging out with me I started doing some research into my dreams and crossed it with your legends."
"So you gathered information?"
"Yup," I popped the "p". "Anyway, at first it was all a bunch of nonsense but then when I came back and I saw how much you've changed I knew something wasn't right. You were too big, too naturally hot, so I dug out my research and went over the legends again and then it hit me. The sad wolf who cried when I left forks, the way Edward used to talk about you, the way you are always half naked and look way too old for your age, it just all made sense."
"You are way too smart." I laughed despite everything going on. "So you figured it all out and yet you haven't said or done anything about what you know since dinner the other night. I nodded and sat crossed legged on my bed. He was pacing my room and giving me a headache with his mumblings.
"So you know what they are, you know what we are, yet you still want to hang-out with both sides? And don't deny it because I saw you yesterday with one of them. Talking and laughing, you even touched one and ran with it. I mean come on Bella, they are dangerous."
"I won't deny that I was with the Cullen's, I'm happy with them. And they are no more dangerous than you, maybe. I don't have all the facts; I just know your furry, have a tail, and bark. We can go over it another time. Right now I just want you out of my room and out of my house. Today I am going to relax and do some chores."
"Bella, about t6he other night, your hand and Charlie, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of that stuff to happen. But now that they're back there isn't much I can do for you to protect you."
"I don't need you to protect me Jake, you're not my boyfriend. I can do what I want, when I want, and there is no one that can stop me. I am adult and by Friday I will be living in my own house, maybe I'll even have them come and stay with me." I said the last part more to myself than to him. He looked like he was ready to protest when something else popped into his mind.
"How many are there and how long are they staying?"
"There's only three at the moment but the others will be coming by the end of the week and they can stay for as long as they want Jake."
"When you're ready come down to the Rez and I'll try to explain it all to you. I really do care about you Bella, even if everything hasn't shown you that. Tell them the treaty is still in place and if you're hurt in any way I will come after them, because it is personal." I didn't know what he meant by the last remark but I knew I would find out eventually and I was ok with that.
I nodded and then he was gone, the little whole in my heart just got a little bigger.
