Sapphire Moon

Grimm: Hey, I'm still alive-ish. I got a concerned reader asking if I had some issues and that's why I was got for two weeks. Sorry for the wait, I'm glad I have readers like you, it made me happy that you were 'worried' enough to contact me about it. Unfortunately, I do have an issue that has prevented me from posting. School. Yuck, but I have to focus on it and I got some news and IvoryGoddess is working on The Pack and if you don't know what that is, check my profile.

All of you have probably skimmed once or twice but there is some important stuff on my profile for the story so if you don't whether or not I've put something on hiatus or am plotting a sequel, go there.I don't now the next time I'll be able to work on this but please enjoy.

Chapter Thirteen: Old Friends

"Tails, it's so good to see you!" Eve exclaimed, wrapping a blanket around her body. She gave a small cough before capturing the kitsune in a hug, which he returned equally.

"Hey, hey! You need to get back in that bed!" He replied, chuckling at the purple female's liveliness even in her state. The twin tailed fox ushered her back into the bed swiftly. Tails tucked the blanket over the recovering hedgie using the cover as a hood as well. Eve sat and grinned at his brotherly act even though they hadn't seen each other in half a year.

"Surprised to see me," she giggled cheekily, "I thought I would get to see you more but it's okay! I can see you now and that's all that matters right?"

"Yeah. How have you been, Eve?"

"Shadow's really nice and he takes me out to see his special places. Like the waterfalls," her expression fell to embarrassment, "oh, but I fell in. He did tell me not to get to close," she blushed, clutching the blanket tightly.

"He took you to see waterfalls in the January!? What was he thinking?!" the yellow fox shouted, baffled.

"But Tails, he said the waterfalls looked very pretty when they're just about finished thawing!" Eve protested, "It was my fault that I fell in, not his! Don't blame him, Tails."

The kitsune when silent from Eve's protests. She was always high on defending people even those whom she just met until their was evidence of their crimes and even then she would fight for them. But for her to defend against her 'brother' like she was, it was strange. It almost seemed wrong. To him anyway.

"Do you have feelings for him?" Tails asked the violet girl.

At his response, Eve's face flushed a bright cherry red and she hid in her blanket hood and fort. Then deep male laughter echoed within the room but it wasn't the fox. Sapphire eyes peeked out of a crease in the huddled cover around her warm body. There was a ruby-red echidna laughing his ass off at the 'siblings' display. Tails groaned and put an annoyed expression on his face, seemingly displeased with the echidna.

"Really...?" Tails said in a low tone, glaring as the ruby male regained himself.

The rude echidna waved his hand in front of him, "I-i couldn't help," he coughed, clearing his throat from its hoarseness, "I couldn't help myself. You two were like out of a tv drama. It was funny."

"And how would you know what a tv drama is like?" The fox chuckled causing Eve to giggle.

"HEY! "

"Right, right. Eve, this is Knuckles the Echidna. One of my friends and colleagues here at Chaos Division. He's a little hot-headed but a pretty nice guy once you get to know him." Tails stated.

"I'M RIGHT HERE!" Knuckles shouted, growling at the two tailed mammal.

Eve gazed over to where the raging red male was and quickly strided over to meet him. She plastered a genuine heart-warming smile and held out her hand, grasping the blanket with her other hand to keep it over her.

"I'm Eve Roslia. It's nice to meet you Mr. Knuckles," she greeted him warmly.

He took her hand gently in his powerful gloved fist and shook it lightly, careful of the force he used. He let a small smile make its way to his muzzle.

"Please, just call me Knuckles. It's great to finally meet you, Tails over there wouldn't shut up about you whenever he was about to go vacation. Seriously, it was just blah blah blah with this guy," he grinned at Tails' flushed face.

"Shut up," he mumbled.

Eve giggled at this. It was definitely a long time since she interacted with anyone she knew before Shadow. Or with more than one person. Her time with Shadow was fun but she missed Tails and her friends, even Espio! She barely spent a day with him but that's more than enough time to bond with the purple chameleon. The violet female sighed softly, looking back at her memories of both her friends and Shadow.

"So how are you and Shadow getting along?" Knuckles suddenly asked. Which caught the girl off guard, making her jump. The ruby male grinned at her reaction. "Don't tell me, you're shy," he chuckled.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say that their relationship is the same as yours and Rouge's, " Tails interjected, a devilish grin sparked his muzzle as he eyed the echidna. He ushered Eve back to her bed but kept an eye on the male in the corner of his eye, watching Knuckles struggle and writhe in his vision. Once she was nestled back in her cornered fort, he turned back to face him.

Knuckles gulped, not at all liking where the kitsune was going with his point, "W-what do you mean?"

"There's something there, it's just that both parties are too shy or one is waiting for the other to confess first before making their move. However, you're definitely not waiting for Rouge, so you must be too shy. Chaos Knuckles, I didn't take you for the embarrassed type, now you're acting like one of your dramas," the golden fox laughed at the echidna's shock before it turned to his normal rage, which only made him laugh even louder.

"Shut up," he blushed, "I'm just waiting for the right moment."

"So you do like her."

Knuckles was at a loss of words. The fox was-well being a fox. The golden kit just weaseled-no pun intended-that key information out of him so easily. He felt bamboozled and very baffled.

Suddenly, sounds of hurried footsteps came to his eardrums, at an alarming speed as well. He cleared the door and backed up, covering both the fox and the hedgehog with his body. He was ready to fight if necessary. Tails pushed the frightened female flat on the mattress, making her seem naturally like the mass of blankets she was covered with. If they were killed or subdued at least she would be hidden from their attackers. She gave squeak as he jammed a pillow on top of her hiding place, which gave her just enough space to create a crevice to view the door. Muffed shouts were heard as well but it was unclear what they were saying.

Then the door busted open.
