When they arrived back home, Danny flew through the ceiling and onto the roof to give himself some time to think. He was frustrated. At least he wasn't seeing Dan anymore but on the other hand, now he was seeing his loved ones dead. That's what he saw the majority of the ride back.
Danny pulled his knees up to his chest and stared at the sky. He just wanted this to be over. He wanted things to go back to the way they were. He was tired of not acting himself. He hated it. Danny knew he needed a good plan if he wanted to defeat Vlad. He would have done it right then and there if it wasn't for Vlad's threat. Danny wanted to beat Vlad into next week but he knew Vlad wasn't bluffing about not giving him the antidote if he did that. Danny sighed. This was going to be difficult.
"Danny?" Danny looked to see who it was but immediately looked back at the sky. It was Sam, but in his eyes, she was dead.
"Hey, Sam." Danny said.
Sam walked over and sat next to Danny. Danny closed his eyes. "Are you still seeing Dan?" She asked.
Danny shook his head. "After Clockwork assured us that Dan has not escaped, my fear kind of melted away. I see something else now."
Sam put a hand on Danny's arm and Danny flinched. "What do you see?"
"You. Tucker. Jazz. Every time I look at you guys, you're all dead."
"Is that why you have your eyes closed?" Sam asked.
Danny nodded. "We need to think of a plan," He said. "When I go to Vlad's."
"You are not going to Vlad's." Insisted Sam. "We'll think of another plan."
Danny opened his eyes, he maintained his gaze at the sky. The sun was setting. It would be dark soon. "Worst case scenario he finds out I'm trying to trick him and I leave without the antidote. This is the best plan, Sam. You know it is."
"But you don't need to go through with it. We can think of a better plan, Danny."
Danny finally looked at Sam, and despite the fact that she was still dead in his eyes, he smiled at her. "I'll be fine, Sam. This is the most full proof plan and besides, Vlad was right about one thing; if I continue to see my worst fear, I'll surely lose my mind."
"Danny."
"You and Tucker should get going. You don't want to get in trouble for coming home late."
Sam stared at him. He had looked back up at the sky. "Okay." She gave in, standing up. "I'll see you later."
"See you later, Sam."
Jazz came out two hours later with a jacket on to keep warm and two plates of food for dinner. She sat down next to Danny and placed a plate in front of him. "You should eat something."
Danny didn't look at her. "Thanks, Jazz, but I'm not hungry."
"Of course you are," Jazz responded. "You've only eaten an apple in days. You just have no appetite."
Danny looked down at the plate in front of him. Pasta.
"Mom and Dad will be home tomorrow."
"Don't remind me." Danny said. "Dad I'm not worried about but mom, she always knows when something's wrong."
"Yeah," Jazz agreed. "That's going to be a problem."
"Jazz," Danny said after a short silence. "I think I'm going to go to Vlad's."
As expected, Jazz promptly refused. "You're not doing that, Danny."
"I'll tell you the same thing I told Sam. This is the best plan. Worst case scenario he finds out I'm trying to trick him and I leave without the antidote. I'll be fine, Jazz. This is the plan and it's not going to work out any other way. You need to trust me."
Jazz knew when Danny acted this serious, there was no changing his mind. No going back. She still hated the plan, but she went along with it anyway. "Okay, Danny. I trust you."
"Okay, then," Danny said. "Then here's the plan."
Danny packed his bag and left at five in the morning, three hours before his parents were due to arrive home. He did not say goodbye to Jazz as he left, he didn't want to disturb her sleep but Danny knew, in the back of his mind, that she was awake. The sun had not yet risen as Danny began his journey to Vlad's. To be honest, he was worried, there was so many ways this plan could go sideways. But he couldn't give up hope. Danny thought back to his attitude the past few days. He thought about the anxiety, paranoia, and hopelessness. He was so out of character with himself that Danny didn't know if he even could go back to his personality before this all started. He just had to have faith that he would.
Danny arrived at Vlad's three hours later. He landed on Vlad's front porch and changed back to normal before ringing the doorbell. Vlad opened the door thirty seconds later saying, "I told you before and I'll say it again, I don't want any Girl Scout cookies." But when Vlad opened the door all the way, and looked properly at who was on his step, he was surprised. "Oh, Danny. Come to try to defeat me again?"
Danny did not see Vlad as dead. "I… thought about what you said… You've got me defeated this time. I've come to join you."
Vlad put his hands on his hips and narrowed his eyes. "And how do I know you're not just trying to trick me?"
Danny didn't flinch. "I'll do whatever it takes to prove it to you."
Vlad smiled. "Well in that case, come on in." Vlad moved out of the way of the door and Danny stepped inside.
Here we go.
