Wanderer: Sometimes I wonder how the hell a sappy story turns into this.

Fox: Huh?

Wanderer: This chapter was originally meant to be a sweet, fluffy story, but somehow it turned into this...What the actual potato?

Yellow: The mind is a fickle object.

Wanderer: True. Anyhow, review.

N is for No

"No!"

"Monica-"

"NO! Let me out of here Max!"

"Monica, its for your own-"

"No! Let me go damn it!" Max let out a sigh, watching Monica struggle on one of the guest beds at his mansion. She was chained down to said bed by a large amount of chains. Originally, it was ropes, which Monica snapped, followed by lighter chains, which she broke, which eventually required the use of the heavy chains binding her down now.

"Monica, you need to stay in bed." Max said gently, barely heard over the rattle of the chains. "You're really sick, and you need to rest."

"I'M NOT SICK DAMN IT!" She screamed, before she let out a series of loud coughs, her struggling ceasing as she clutched slightly above her stomach. Max let out a sigh.

"Monica, listen to me." He started.

"No! We need to save the rest of the origin points Max!" Monica growled, struggling against the chains once again. "We need to go back to Mt. Gundor and get the rest of the Geostones!"

"It won't do us any good to go back if you're sick. You'll be killed if you go out like you are now." Max said worriedly.

"I'm fine!" She said, growling lowly.

"Monica, you're sick, don't deny it."

"We have a mission to do, Max!" She hissed. "We don't have time for sicknesses to stop us!" Max let out a sigh, grabbing a white bowl filled with steaming soup from the table. He grabbed a silver spoon, before he approached Monica a bit warily. Monica glared at him with such ferocity, other people would've ran away screaming. Max, however, just held out a spoon full of steaming soup. He held it close to her mouth, when she lunged, biting his hand.

"GAH!" He said, nearly dropping the spoon of soup on Monica. Blood slowly poured out of the bite marks, Max wincing in pain. Despite this, he put the spoon back into the bowl of soup, and placed the soup back on the table near the bed. Max looked at his bite, wincing at how much blood was flowing.

"LET ME GO DAMN IT!" Monica screamed. Max slammed his good hand into the table, the spoon and bowl clattering.

"FINE!" He unlocked the chains from Monica's beds, all of them falling heavily to the floor. "GO, GO OUT AND DIE FOR ALL I FREAKING CARE! DON'T EXPECT ME TO ATTEND YOUR DAMN FUNERAL!" He screamed, stomping away from Monica, slamming the door shut behind him.

Monica watched the closed door for a while, a feeling of guilt making its way into her head. She slowly got to her feet, walking out the room herself. She looked around for any sign of Max on the floor, but saw nothing. She let out a sigh, before she walked into the first unlocked restroom she found, startled to see Max there, bandaging up his wounds. He turned at the sound of the door opening, casting her a glare before he returned his focus on his hand.

"Max.."

"I worry about you." He said, letting out a sigh.

"I'm capable of taking care of myself." Monica said with a huff.

"I know that. You're a strong fighter, and a very smart woman." He said, Monica blushing a bit at the praise. "But what happens if there's something that you can't handle?" He said, turning around to face her.

"There's-"

"Monica." Max interrupted. "Can you look me in the eyes, and tell me that there's absolutely nothing that you can't handle?" She cast her gaze at the floor, not answering. "If you were to go out, right now, you would probably be dead Monica. Not from the illness." He laughed at that. "It'll take more then a simple illness to take you down." His tone became serious once again. "But, when you combine that illness with other factors, like Monsters, terrain and more...You can literally die because you coughed." Monica let out a sigh.

"I know..."

"Then, why do you want to rush through it Monica?"

"Because Max, we have a mission to do!" She said, coughing slightly. "We have to save the future, we have to fix the origin points, and we have to stop Griffon himself!"

"Monica, if we die, that mission won't matter anymore." Max said, a bit bluntly. Monica bowed her head in defeat

"Fine.."

"Go back to bed, alright?" He said kindly. She let out a sad sigh, before she headed back to the restsroom door.

"Um...Actually." She stopped at the door, letting out a nervous laugh. "I reallly need to go to the restroom.."

"Oh.." Max said, letting out a nervous laugh and leaving the restroom.

Max carefully lowered a spoon full of soup to Monica's lips, her sipping at it slowly.

"I'm sorry for biting your hand earlier.." Monica mumbled.

"It's alright Monica." Max said, setting the empty bowl of soup down. He placed a hand upon her forehead. "Hm, you still have a bit of a fever." He said to himself. Monica chose this moment to sit up and give Max a peck on the cheeks, giggling as he flushed red.

"That's for taking care of me today Max." She smiled warmly.

"N-no problem." Max stuttered, smiling back.

She let out a loud yawn.

"I'm so tired.." She mumbled, curling into the sheets. Max watched her, smiling at her peaceful looking face. He tiptoed close, lightly kissing her forehead.

"Goodnight Monica." He silently left the room.

The next day, however, Max was the one sipping from a spoonful of soup, Monica giggling the entire while.

"Don't laugh at me, this is your fault!" Max said, pouting.

"I know I know.." Monica said, giggling. She gently pecked his cheek. "Better?"

"A bit.." Max huffed, smiling at her. "Thanks for looking after me."

"You did the same to me." She said, holding another spoonful of soup to his mouth. "Now drink."
