Going Far
"Well, I can definitely see, Grootslang," Beastboy said. His eyes were visibly different, changing into yellow pupil slitted eyes. His vision was bluish and hazy, but only people he had in mind were visible in bright yellow, in this case, Grootslang. "This works like a... wait a minute."
"What's wrong?"
"Gorthan, look at the building, what do you see?" Beastboy asked. Gorthan's dragon eyes peered through and saw the same thing that Garfield saw.
"I see an odd red aura. That can only mean evil, but Grootslang's an excellent guard, he would have seen it," Gorthan mentioned.
"Even wise people make mistakes," Beastboy replied. "And I think I know who it is."
"What's your plan? If you have one," Arella asked Garfield.
"Fish him out and make sure that he doesn't steal or find any information about the library," He replied.
"We'll stay here, Greene," Gorthan added. Garfield and Arella looked at each other, then at Gorthan. "What? Everyone's been talking about you lately. The Great Azar has spoken about you herself."
"Oh come on! Isn't anything here kept a secret?" Garfield grumbled.
"Garfield, if you're going to make your move, GO!" Arella urged. Beastboy ran inside and calmly walked up to Grootslang.
"(Ah, Beastboy, or should I call you, the Green Wizard now?)" Grootslang smirked.
"(Listen, Great Snake, there isn't much time. A baddie, not like the ones of Goth Afa, is here. Do you have any kind of magical wall you can put out when I find him and throw him out?)" Garfield asked urgently. Grootslang looked at Beastboy for a moment. The snake was probably thinking of how an evil one could possibly get past him. Then again, he wasn't really paying attention.
"(Yes I do. Just yell 'now' when you've done it)" Beastboy nodded. He used his Dragon eyes to find the evil source. He stealthily walked through and around bookshelves to find it. Once he looked around the corner, he immediately recognized the irritated voice.
"Blood it! I can't find it. Malchior is going to chew my ear off if I don't find this stupid book," said the voice.
Magoth, Beastboy thought to himself. He peered around to see the normally blonde fellow in an angelic form, with his white wings spreading out. His hair was fiery blue while his clothes sparkled brightly. Quite ironic for a true demon. Then Beastboy thought of something. Two could play at that.
"I have to find this thing before the disguise wears off," Magoth growled. Suddenly, Magoth was bumped into by a small boy, blond hair, green eyes, about 4'7" "Watch it, insolent child!"
"Sorry," Said the child with a cheeky grin and rushed around the corner. It was at that time that Magoth realized his sag of money was missing.
"Big mistake, little one. You'll have to be a lot smarter than that to get away with stealing." Magoth sighed as he rounded the corner.
"I am smarter," Beastboy said, grabbing Magoth by the collar and throwing him through a portal. "NOW GROOTSLANG!" With that, Beastboy jumped through the portal and popped out in front of the library where a large blue dome barrier stood between them and the library. This prevented Magoth from teleporting back in.
"NO!" Magoth shouted, turning back into his normal form. "I will end yo-" Before he could speak, Beastboy produced a sharp slice of magic, cutting off parts of Magoth's blond hair. "GAH!"
"You were saying," Beastboy smirked. Magoth's eyes poured into Beastboy's with anger and hate.
"You! You're the one that I saw on the battlefield," Magoth noted. "So this is your true form then. A cocky blonde that's cruising his way through magic and power? Do you think yourself a hero?"
"No, I'm just the person that will kick your butt," Beastboy challenged. Magoth's hands shone brightly as he put a curse on Beastboy. Beastboy opened his eyes and saw himself in a dark sphere. "Where am I?"
"He's put you in a place where you're supposed to face your fears. It's meant to overwhelm you, but you've already gone through something like this," Said a familiar voice.
"Ugh, you," Garfield muttered looking at the Beast, "I can get out of this myself."
"Not this one. Not until you face your fear," Beast replied.
"And what's that?" Beastboy asked in an irritated manner.
"Letting me free. Losing control. Do you want me to continue?" Beast answered. Beastboy tried walking away from him, but the teen ended up bumping into him again. "You can't run from it forever."
"I won't hurt anyone!" Beastboy shouted. Beast snarled, picked the teenager, and glared him in the eye as he struggled against the Beast strong grip.
"You think I want to hurt anyone!? I'm just as docile and peacekeeping as you try to be. The first time I became a part of you, we were both out of control. Things are different now. You have to learn to trust, not me, but yourself," Beast said, setting the teen down. "That's what you're really afraid of. Trust yourself, Beastboy." Garfield stood silent then sighed. "Deal?" Beast offered his large hand to the young wizard. Beastboy sighed in worry but bravely shook his hand.
"Deal." Beastboy said.
"Garfield! Can you hear us?!" Arella shouted. Magoth stood in between them and the sphere that encased Beastboy.
"He can't hear you. That ball holds some of the most intimidating fears in the world. There's no way he'll get out of there," Magoth laughed mockingly.
"Then there's no chance that you'll leave this place alive," Gorthan threatened, blowing his overwhelming fire at Magoth. Magoth opened a portal and threw the flames right back at the dragon. Arella's magic picked up several objects and started throwing them at Magoth. The blonde was thrown to the ground but hopped up like a cork. Magoth's hand glowed bright yellow, firing shots of magical rays at Arella, knocking her back more and more. Gorthan blew his flames again while Magoth was preoccupied. Magoth ducked out of the way and shielded himself. With Arella's magic, she commanded lightning to fire at the shield, but it just bounced right off.
"I may be no match for dragon magic," Magoth sneered, waving his glowing hands. He used nearby metal beams to tie Gorthan's body down. "But I do have other magic."
"Gorthan!" Arella shouted. She fell to the ground after Magoth used another beam to hit her. She shielded herself from his ray of lightning, but her concentration was weakening.
"Face it. Even with the dragon, you'll never catch me. And I will find a way back into the library," Magoth smirked.
"That's not going to happen," said a familiar voice. Magoth looked over to the sphere of fear and saw that Beastboy broke through it "Because I'm making sure you never come back."
"How did you do that?!" Magoth shouted.
"I've been learning," Beastboy smirked, pushing the blonde sorcerer with his green glowing hands. Magoth tumbled around in the grass. He slowly got up, dusting himself off.
"You're still a rogue amateur," Magoth smirked, showing off his magic in a dazzling display of lightning.
"Yeah, but I'm a different kind of amateur," Beastboy said. He shape-shifted into a huge snake, swatting Magoth with his huge tail. Before Magoth could get up, Beastboy changed into an elephant and charged at him. Magoth spewed a force-field, but Beastboy changed back into a human and bore a hole through the field with a green magical needlepoint. Garfield quickly made a tornado appear, lifting Magoth into the air where Beastboy's levitation grabbed him and smashed him back to the ground. To make sure he was down, Gar forced a large rock to fall on top of him and then lifted it back up.
"*Wheeze*" moaned Magoth.
"How's that for an amateur, pretty boy," Beastboy snickered as Gorthan and Arella came up to him.
"How did you get around the cancellation spell for your shape-shifting powers?" Arella asked.
"I asked Grootslang to give me some body-augmentation spells and other stuff. Then I finally figured out how to... cancel the cancellation spell," Garfield replied. Magoth grumbled as he tried to get out of the pit he was in. "Oh no, you don't!" Garfield growled in a surprisingly deep voice. Magoth suddenly found a large foot on his chest. He peered up to see Garfield's new form: the Beast. "I think I know just where to put you."
"Sorry, I have other plans," Magoth grunted out. He threw something from his pocket to the ground and smoke appeared. Though Beast didn't move his foot, Magoth somehow managed to get away. Beastboy changed back into his normal looking human self.
"Dragon eyes," He said as his vision changed. He saw that the residue of a portal was on the floor. "Grr, he got away."
"With bruises, I can say," Gorthan added. "You at least weakened him."
"For how long?"
"Let's not think about that for now. For now, we have to make sure that Grootslang and the library are secured," Arella suggested. Beastboy glazed at the spot where Magoth was and then left with the others.
Grootslang was just outside the library and brought the shield down. "(Well done, Greene. You've proven again that you're a strong ally to all of us)" Grootslang congratulated.
"(Thank you, Great Snake)" Beastboy bowed. He picked up some of the hair that he cut off from Magoth and gave it to Grootslang, "This is from Magoth. Can you make a barrier from it?"
"You can make a magical barrier from people's hair?" Gorthan asked.
"Fallitur said that's how they protect Goth Afa from Magoth," Garfield explained. Grootslang took the hair with his tail and examined it closely.
"(I'll see what I can do,)" Grootslang replied.
"Let us go back to Azarath. You've had a long day of training," Arella pointed out seeing Beastboy yawn.
"YOU LOST AGAIN!"
"Would you SHUT UP for a moment! I'm trying to heal!" Magoth bellowed at his brother in the book.
"This is ridiculous! How can a child, an AMATEUR, defeat you!?"
"He... he isn't like most sorcerers I've dealt with. He's completely unpredictable. He knows light and dark magic and magic I've never seen before," Magoth grumbled as his lit hand grazed over his arm. "Ahh, I think it's time to go back to the original plan."
"Agreed. They'll have already established a protective barrier over you at Corinth. Then the next target must be in places in the great beyond," Malchior said in a sinister manner.
"I'm worried," Arella said the next day. Beastboy was practicing gem-creation. Sorcerers and magicians tend to make stones and other precious artifacts using their own powers to give them a power boost. Because of Beastboy's special ability, it could be a great asset. Beastboy's eyes narrowed in confusion.
"What's wrong?" He asked as he tilted his head.
"Why was Magoth at the library of Corinth? He was obviously looking for some kind of knowledge, but what?" Arella thought out loud.
"Magoth is trying to find a spell that will release his brother, Malchior from a book. If they find what they're looking for, he is free and with all the power of the dragon," Beastboy suggested. Arella placed her finger on her chin.
"If that's the case, then we have to make sure we protected all the libraries of knowledge," Arella replied, "Corinth, Goth Afa, Paradisum, and Azarath are safe, but there are other copies of the books with the knowledge he seeks."
"Oh, dude. Then we're in big trouble!"
"Not to worry. Now that we have a sample of Magoth's hair, we can use it protect all of the remote libraries," Arella said. "But Grootslang will have to supply the map to all of these libraries."
"That's not a problem," Beastboy sighed, sitting down. "This is going to totally delay my trip back home." Arella gave a small smile.
"Trust me, Garfield, you will get back home," Arella replied. Beastboy sighed as he got up.
"We better get started."
