CHAPTER FOURTEEN
After school, Wednesday.
X
Sonic left the school building to skip his last class. It was chemistry and the teacher annoyed him. It was nearly impossible to expel Sonic from this school, so he started to think about it as some kind of game. He never got detention, too.
He went outside and inhaled the fresh air. He started to walk home, he didn't feel like running right now. He didn't feel haunted by problems and issues, so he decided it'd be okay to walk.
Suddenly, he bumped into someone. He wasn't paying attention, he was staring at the sidewalk emptily. Sonic looked up and wanted to apologize, but as he spotted Shadow he simply raised an eyebrow. Shadow stood infront of him, his arms crossed over his chest, his red eyes emotionless as always.
'Why are you standing in the middle of the sidewalk?' Sonic asked, tilting his head.
'I wanted to see if you're paying attention to where you're going.' he replied flatly. Sonic shrugged and rubbed his nose.
'Couldn't be bothered.'
'It's because of her, isn't it?'
Sonic's eyes widened, he took a step backwards and shook his head vigorously.
'What the hell are you talking about?'
'Never thought I'd see you falling for a girl. Don't mess it up.' Shadow said mockingly with a dark chuckle.
'I AM NOT! I have a mission to take care of and she's able to help me, that's all. She is actually the only girl ever that I haven't laid my eyes on in a sexual way. You're getting this totally wrong.' Sonic defended himself eagerly. Again, he got nothing but a deep chuckle in return.
'Sonic, my blue friend, I've never seen you so nervous or lost in thoughts around a girl. Don't get me wrong, I can totally relate. She is cute, has a good humour, is feisty and very feminine, her big green eyes and the way she giggles, she is absolutely adorable and admirable, I get it. Though, I think she isn't the right one. She seems too shy and too overly excited about simple things, you two would never get along, you're both from different dimensions. Someone like Sally would suit you better, she is used to the limelight and can't hold her nose any higher than it already is. Sonic, you need someone who's equal to you.'
'I need someone who's unique. Who asked you anyway?' Sonic snapped, crossing his arms with a frown.
'Well, well, well. You know her less than two weeks and you're already defending her. That's all I wanted to know, really. I never liked Sally anyway.' Shadow said and chuckled. Sonic's features softened and he placed his gloved hands on his hips.
'For a moment I thought you're serious.'
'You're such a dork. I am not into giving love advice, but I am glad you've found someone who'll hopefully get you off of your lordliness, I can't stand it anymore.'
Both glanced at eachother and laughed shortly. Sonic knew Shadow for a while now and he knew that Shadow had some soft spots, but he'd never show. Right now he seemed pretty genuine, though. Sonic cracked a cocky smile and gave Shadow a thumbs up.
'Guess you aren't so bad after all.'
'Look after your pink girlfriend, otherwise she'll be off limits.' Shadow teased with a mocking grin. Sonic frowned in annoyance.
'Hold that thought, Shadow - she is not my girlfriend and she'll certainly never be. I am not into relationships.'
Shadow blinked a few times, his face remained emotionless. He rubbed his chin and stared at the floor for a brief moment, before glancing back at his frenemy.
'I don't get that. I thought you like her?'
'I like her as best friend-material, Shadow. I've got no ulterior motives with her. Of course she is tempting and all, but I think we'd be better off as friends.'
'How are you supposed to know?'
'I can feel it. I've never felt so weird around any other girl and that must be a sign that I am ready to have a female best friend.' Sonic stated with a victorious grin. Shadow stared at him for a moment, before facepalming with a loud sigh.
'Oh lord, you think your weird feelings are trying to tell you that she could be your friend?'
'Of course.'
'You're so dense, I can't even believe it.' Shadow grunted annoyed. Sonic cocked an eyebrow and crossed his arms again.
'What are you implying?' Sonic asked angrily.
'Damn Sonic, you fell in love with that girl.' Shadow hissed back, a frown forming on his face.
- Shadow's POV -
Heck, I said it out loud. What was I supposed to do, though? It's obvious that he can't handle his own feelings and he needed someone to tell him the truth, even though the truth can taste bitter.
I am not someone to care about other people's feelings, really. I can handle myself on my own pretty darn well, I don't need any help or sympathy. I grew up without parents, without siblings. I grew up with robots in a laboratory, that's probably why I seem so emotionless. I enjoy having a stiff expression on my face, that way people have no chance to read me like an open book, though I can read most people's minds, also Sonic's.
I am different than a robot, though. I actually do have feelings, I feel empathy, I feel sadness, I feel anger and I can feel love, I just don't like showing it. Showing your emotions makes you vulnerable, it makes you weak.
And now love has come to Sonic, which is technically good, but on the other hand we'll lose him. I haven't heard of Eggman in a while, which can't be a good sign. I bet he's up to something horrific and to defeat Eggman we need to fight him, but how are we supposed to do that if Eggman now finds Sonic's weakest spot - his love.
It happened to me once and once was enough. I actually fell in love with this one girl and she was amazing, I felt less empty around her and she was the only one I'd show my true face, which isn't always grumpy. And her gratitude? She left town without any warning. She called me, told me her goodbyes and changed her number. I have no idea where she lives now or how she's doing and to be honest - after almost a year I don't give a shit anymore. But I remember that Eggman used her to make me fragile and vulnerable, I stopped fighting him and accepted other people getting hurt, the main thing was that she stayed unharmed. I was such an idiotic moron. I risked the safety of my so called friends and other innocent people, just to protect her. And I am afraid Sonic will be just the same, he just doesn't know yet. Love makes you do the most irresponsible and stupid things, but in the end you get nothing in return, except sleepless nights.
I stared at Sonic, he hasn't said a word, I felt like he stopped breathing. I told him that he's in love, something he has probably never been before. Shock was spreading all over his face, his eyes were opened widely and I could've sworn that I was able to hear his beating heart.
'Sonic, you look pale.' I said, trying to snap him out of his apparently very deep thoughts. He then turned away from me, staring at the ground, rubbing his chin. He acted like I had just insulted his mother. I started flicking my fingers infront of his face to get him out of his daze, but it didn't work.
'Don't be such a drama queen.' I grunted, slowly getting annoyed. Suddenly, he turned to me and stared blankly at me.
'Gotta go.'
And with that he disappeared in a flash.
Oh well, Sonic.
I know how you feel, I felt so too.
So vulnerable.
So scared.

- Author's POV -
Sonic refused to believe what Shadow had just told him. It couldn't be, it was delusional. He was the world's biggest hero, the king of the hearts. It was impossible that this demon called 'love' crawled his way into his body. He remembered how it infected Shadow, it was a contamination. Shadow changed everything about himself, he tried to act friendly, how cringy. And he would spend all his time with this girl and worst of all - he stopped fighting Eggman for her sake and safety. Something like that could never happen to Sonic, it was something that he just refused to allow himself. His heart had to obey him and he told his heart to stay clean.
Sonic knew people who compared love to drugs, like Shadow or even Silver. They said love has you addicted to the person your heart is craving for and if this person leaves you, you'll get something like withdrawal symptoms.
Sonic ran around town for a while, until he found a large rock in the park. He sat down on it and cupped his face into his gloved hands. He let out a deep sigh and started thinking of Amy, picturing her in any kind of situation.
As a best friend, where they'd tell eachother their deepest secrets and laugh about stupid jokes.
As a true lover, where she'd love him, feed him with adoration and devotion, stay up late at night to play video games with him and fall asleep in his arms eventually.
As a housewife, where she'd cook for him, do his laundry, always be by his side, giving him good advice in every situation, never losing her enticing self.
As a mother, where she'd fall around his neck, telling him she's pregnant and they'd both jump around like lunatics. Her baby bump would grow bigger, their love would grow stronger, until the little one arrives.
But that'd mean marriage and so many responsibilities, something Sonic really despised.
He stood up and went towards a tree. He leaned against it, one foot resting on it. He crossed his arms and closed his eyes, inhaling and exhaling the clean and fresh air. It was a large oak tree he was leaning on, he remembered it very well. He used to climb it and hide in it as he was still very young, but his brother Manic would always find him and tickle him as a punishment. A small smile crept up his muzzle. Those were the good times.
His mind wandered back to Amy. She was one of a kind, she seemed so different to any other girl, Sonic knew nobody he could compare Amy with. Though, it was too soon to judge, he knew her less than two weeks and Shadow was already talking about love.
- You only need to look into somebody's eyes for six seconds or more. -
- That's enough to fall in love. -
Even if that was the case, there was no possibility that something like this could happen to Sonic. She was nothing but an average girl. He wasn't able to understand this whirlpool inside of his head, it was all so confusing. But he had to stay focused, he had to stay the same ol' Sonic, people were relying on him. He wouldn't permit himself to change for love, just like Shadow did.
There was no way in hell he'd let that happen by any chance.
He had to admit, it was kind of hard to restrain himself around her, which was also because she was the first girl ever who refused to sleep with him. Maybe, just maybe, that was the main reason why he felt so attracted to her. Maybe he needed to sleep with her to find out how he really feels about her.
But maybe, just maybe, he just had to keep distance and focus on his mission to make his brother proud for once.
Either way, it involved her trust and support.
It involved her.

Thursday, 8pm.
Amy was running a little late for her date with Sonic. Of course she was excited, but somehow she got lost in her thoughts and lost the track of time. She was still sitting in her bathtub, humming her favorite songs. Some red candles were lit around her and the light was dimmed, it was a relaxing atmosphere. Amy forgot to check the time and closed her eyes.
Sonic had been on her mind 24/7 lately, it was hard to shake these thoughts off. She pictured him in any kind of situation and it was driving her insane. She continued to listen to love songs only and it was slowly getting on Rouge's nerves, mainly because Amy wouldn't admit that she's in love - no, she vigorously denied it.
X
Sonic was on time, nevertheless. Only thing he was wearing were his usual gloves, which he'd barely take off, his shoes and his brown scarf. Yet, he looked on fleek. He came out of the bathroom and was greeted by a grinning Knuckles, standing in the middle of the livingroom.
'What?' Sonic asked, raising an eyebrow. Knuckles chuckled and crossed his arms over his chest, a mischievous grin plastered on his tanned muzzle.
'Where ya' going, loverboy?'
'I told you days ago, Knux. I am meeting Amy, don't make such a big deal out of it.' Sonic replied, a slight annoyance was heard in his voice.
'Uh huh, sure. Be careful and wear protection, will ya'? Oh, and don't forget to block her number from your phone, dude.' Knuckles teased. He got nothing but a loud growl in return.
With that, Sonic left the apartment and slammed the door behind him. It was getting on his nerves that Knuckles automatically assumed that Sonic was going to sleep with Amy and never contact her again afterwards. Did all of his friends think so low of him? It was disturbing.
He took a few steps and stopped infront of apartment 24. He took a deep breath and knocked firmly on the door. He placed his hands behind his back, as if he was holding something, and waited. Soon the door opened and to Sonic's surprise Rouge stood infront of him, a small smile on her lips.
'Oh, a honored visitor. Come in.'
Sonic nodded and followed Rouge inside. He looked around and scanned the room for Amy, but she was nowhere to be seen. Rouge closed the door behind him and sat down on the couch again, she seemed oblivious to the fact that Sonic was here to pick up his date.
'You can sit down or grab something to drink from our fridge.' she offered, but Sonic nicely declined.
'So, where is Amy?'
'Oh, she is still in the bathroom, getting ready, I guess.'
'Do you think it's cool if I go in there?' Sonic asked hesitantly. Rouge nodded in return.
'I am sure she is just applying make-up.'
Rouge didn't know that Amy was still busy bathing, she thought that Amy would be overly excited and spend hours infront of the mirror, because it was more than obvious that Amy was crushing on the blue hedgehog.
X
Amy was still sitting in the bathtub, foam was covering most parts of her body. She was rubbing her arms as her jade green eyes shot open and glanced at the door. There was a shy knock. Since Amy was oblivious that Sonic was there, she yelled 'it's open.'.
The door opened slowly, very slowly, and then Amy watched neon green eyes peek around the corner. Amy was sitting upright in her bathtub and everything, except her breasts, were covered with foam. Her breasts though, they were exposed. Shock spread all across her face and she tried to frantically cover her breasts with her hands. There was no use, Sonic had already seen them.
He stood there in the doorframe, frozen. His eyes were opened widely and his gaze flickered between her eyes and her breasts. He felt something move 'downstairs' and snickered coyly. No words were exchanged, they just stood there and stared at eachother, until Amy finally found the courage to speak up.
'Get out, you creep!' she snapped harshly, frowning. Sonic moved like he was remote controlled. He nodded, turned around and went into the livingroom, sitting down on the couch. He crossed his legs to cover his rising manhood. He surely knew that Amy was more than alluring, but he never expected her to be that perfect without clothes. Her fur, her skin, her eyes - it all played together in perfect harmony and got him really horny within seconds. How was he supposed to survive this evening without touching her?
He sat upright on the couch and had a stiff stare on his flawless face, which Rouge soon noticed. She approached him and stood infront of him, her hands placed on her curvy hips. She tilted her head and observed Sonic, before clearing her throat. She was oblivious to Sonic's boner.
'What's wrong, blue boy?' she asked with a mischievous grin. She furrowed a brow as she noticed that he doesn't react, let alone look at her. She cleared her throat again, this time with more force, but still no reaction from the blue hero. She waved her gloved hand infront of his face and flicked her fingers.
'Earth to hedgehog!' she said sternly. Finally, Sonic looked up into her eyes, blushing vigorously. Rouge raised both eyebrows and tilted her head further.
'Uh, I am fine. Thanks for your concern.' Sonic replied politely with a shy grin.
'Uh huh...'
'I am just waiting for Amy to get ready.'
'Aaaaalright.' Rouge said sarcastically and left Sonic alone. She went into the kitchen and tried to understand his weird behaviour.
Sonic on the other hand was more than relieved that Rouge didn't quite notice his little friend, which was slowly shrinking again until it disappeared completely, allowing Sonic to stand up again.
Just in time it seemed, because Amy opened the bathroom door and Sonic turned his head to look at her. She was wearing a sleeveless light grey dress which hugged her curves perfectly. She looked marvelous. Sonic got up and approached her, his lips parted, but no words were exchanged. He noticed Amy's slight blush on her cheeks and cracked a coy smile. He remembered the very awkward situation he brought her into just a few moments ago.
'Uhm, Amy?'
'Hm?'
'I am sorry, I wasn't aware of the fact that you're bathing. Rouge allowed me to go in, but I decided to knock first and you let me in, so I thought-'
'Cut it.' Amy interrupted him with a genuine smile. 'It's my fault, I lost the track of time. I should be sorry, really.'
Sonic gulped and forced a small smile, scratching the back of his head nervously.
'Heh, yeah. Still, I am sorry too. I should've said something to let you know it's me and not Rouge.'
'Don't worry about it.' she said soothingly, her blush slowly reducing.
'It was a nice sight though.' Sonic remarked with a cocky smile, rubbing his nose confidently.
'Touche.' she replied with a mischievous grin.
'Well, let's get going.'
X
They left the apartment, their arms linked together. They went down the corridor and Amy kept apologizing about how she lost the track of time and that this situation was highly embarassing and this and that. Sonic wasn't listening, though. He was controlled by his incredibly dirty thoughts about what he could be doing to her right now. He bit his lower lip harshly to keep his member from rising again - THAT would be awkward. His neon green eyes kept wandering to her breasts, then her eyes, then her legs, then her breasts again. She didn't notice this, she was busy rambling about her day. At some point she asked for his opinion and he missed the clue, so she stopped walking and crossed her arms over her chest.
'Are you even listening?' she asked sternly. Sonic nodded with a nervous grin.
'Oh, sure. I just missed your last sentence, could you repeat it for me?'
'Pfft, men. Nevermind.' she replied with a frown and carried on walking. Sonic followed her, now checking out her butt and damn lord - it was tantalizing. He kept on walking right behind her, lost in his thoughts, until they arrived at the park. Amy stopped in her tracks and Sonic nearly bumped into her. He shook his head vigorously and tried to concentrate.
'Uh, look. We're already here!' he chirped.
'Yeah and you haven't said a word.' she replied annoyed.
'Well, just follow me.' he said and grabbed her hand. He led her down a hill until they arrived at some sort of creek, hidden in the forest. He squeezed her hand and asked her to cover her eyes before walking any further. She obeyed and covered her jade green eyes with her gloved hands.
'No peeking!' he demanded as he led her down the hill a few steps further.
Her heart started beating rapidly and she suddenly became really nervous. Her whole body tingled at his touch. Even though she was slightly mad at him, all of that disappeared in a flash as he finally allowed her to open her eyes again. She removed her hands from her eyes, blinked a few times and looked around. She stood right infront of a huge dark blue blanket spread on the grass, a small basket in the middle and a few candles lit around the blanket (which was insanely dangerous, but Amy didn't give a crap). Right next to the blanket was the creek sparkling in its natural beauty, the flowing water making relaxing noises. Amy gasped and covered her mouth with her hand in awe, her green eyes glowing and sparkling with joy. No one has ever done something so romantic for her and she couldn't help it - she was a sucker for romance, there was no way she could deny it.
'Do you like it?' she heard Sonic say from behind her, she nearly forgot that he was still there, so she turned around and nodded with a big smile.
'It's so wonderful! Was that your idea?'
'I.. uhm.. I must admit that I've received a lil' help on this one, but all summed up this is my masterpiece, yeah.' he said coyly with a boy-ish grin, fiddling his quills on the back of his head nervously.
'Thank you so much, Sonic! How do I even deserve this?'
'Pretty ladies deserve even better. It's nothing, really. Just wanted to bring a lil' joy to you, that's all.' he said calmly, gazing right into her eyes and he could've sworn they were welling up with tears, which made him uneasy within a second.
'Hey, hey! What's wrong?' he asked her, resting a hand on her shoulder. She sobbed quietly and tried to suppress her overjoy, she didn't want Sonic to think that she's ungrateful or a weird kid that starts crying for everything. So she took a deep breath before speaking.
'I am sorry, it's just... that no one has ever done something like this for me. I know it's not a fancy dinner, but I don't need that. This is totally my thing and that you made the effort to surprise me with no ulterior motives is just so sweet, I can't even handle it. Thank you so much, I appreciate it.' she said with a shaky voice, to which Sonic just smiled warmly, squeezing her shoulder once, before removing his hand.
'Come, sit down and relax.'
She did as she was told and followed Sonic. They both sat down on the blanket beside eachother and before saying anything, they had to suck in the beauty. Amy inhaled and exhaled deeply, her eyes closed, a small smile on her lips. She loved nature, she loved picnics, she loved romance, she loved Son- WAIT!
Her eyes snapped open and she cleared her throat. She couldn't enjoy this too much. Of course this was a really sweet and smooth move from the blue hedgehog, but Amy had to concentrate. He was still bad news and maybe he did have ulterior motives! Why on earth would a playboy like him do something like that for someone so average? It made no sense. So she became really thinkful for a moment and bit her lower lip in agony, as she realised that this had to be a game, a joke. Sonic looked at her and furrowed a brow at her uneasy face expression, it worried him straight away.
'You were so cheerful just a minute ago, what happened? Something wrong?' he asked. Amy looked at him shortly, then faced the floor.
'No, no. This is just so... unrelated to reality.'
'What do you mean?'
'Well, why would someone like you hang out with someone like me? I am nothing but an average girl and you could be sitting here with a whole bunch of rich and famous girls. From what I've heard you aren't quite the romantic type and so this whole thing makes no sense at all. What's behind all of this?' she replied sternly, now finally looking into his green eyes. Sonic frowned with curiousity, wondering how a girl can change her opinion that fast.
'Well, firstly, you aren't average to me. You've been through a lot and I am trying to cheer you up, which was working perfectly just a moment ago. You think way too much, maybe that's Blaze's influence on you. Oh, and you think way too low of yourself. I mean, you have everything, Amy. You have the looks, the personality and the brain. I would've never done something like this for all those spoiled brats you're talking about, they would've laughed. However, I knew that you'd show appreciation for something so small and that's why I did it. There's nothing behind it, except making a friend happy.' he explained. Amy sighed and stared straight forward for a moment, thinking about his words. He sounded sincere and there was no reason to be skeptical. Though, she had a weird feeling in her stomach. First the whole bathroom thing and now he has seen her boobs, which made things between them a little awkward - and now this. A famous superhero going on a romantic picnic in the park with her. She couldn't get the hang of it.
'Sonic, that's really sweet of you to say, but somehow I don't trust this whole thing.' she said underneath her breath, which Sonic heard. He tilted his head and observed her flawless face.
Amy wasn't prepared for what happened next.
D'aww, please tell me that this chapter is adorable! x3 The next one will be even better, so don't miss it.
I love Sonic's hidden side, the soft one. I once knew a guy that was a bit like Sonic in this story, had the greatest times with him. x)
What do you think will happen next, hm? Write it in your reviews!
Is Amy too skeptical or would you react the same way? Personally I would just enjoy mah life! xD
Sorry about that bathroom dilemma, but I couldn't resist. T_T
Enjoy reading!
