The party in the Gryffindor common room spread like wildfire through the school. It was over a month ago now, and still, stories about how James and I kissing on a table (which by the way, were said completely out of context) were whispered as we walked past.
Today is Sunday the 22nd of December, and our little group (if you could call it that), were spread across the chairs in front of the fire. James and Evans were involved in a little argument, something about him not being her type, and the rest of us were all enjoying the show.
"James, you're gay." Evans said.
"Like you haven't used that one before," he retaliated. "Why would you even think that?"
She snorted, "I don't know. Maybe because it's a well known fact that you and Black enjoy late night walks, long and thoughtful conversations, spend every living moment with each other and, oh, I don't know, snog each other!?"
He opened his mouth in protest and looked over to me, at which point I shrugged. Before he could say anything though, Olivia spoke. "Wait a minute Lily, are you calling my boyfriend gay?" I love how she calls me her boyfriend.
"No," Evans said, looking at her. "I'm just pointing out the fact that James is gay, and can't stay away from Black. I'd watch out, Liv, he could turn Sirius gay at any moment."
James held up a finger in protest, but suddenly grinned. "Are you saying I could turn Sirius gay with my wonderful charm and gorgeous good looks?" He winked at me.
The red head glared at him, and held up her fist. "You know very well that's not what I meant, I meant that you're so gay you could turn him -" she broke off. "You know what, the point is I can't go out with you if you're already gay. You just need to come out of the closet and stop hiding you're feelings for Sirius by pretending to have an obsession with me."
James groaned, "but I do have an obsession -"
"Actually, James," Marlene stepped up, "it's a very well known fact that people who are 'in the closet'" she held up her fingers as quotation marks, "pretend to like girls as a cover up story." She smirked, "I think we all know what's going on here. You just need to announce you're gay and get it over with. We will all be here for you, besides, I've always wanted a gay friend!" Everyone started laughing and James shrunk back, looking dejected.
"Anyway," Remus spoke up, changing the subject. "What's everyone doing for Christmas. I know we've spoke about it, but we all leave tomorrow morning to go home and I'm still not sure on the matter."
"Yeah," I agreed. "James and I are going to his parents mansion -"
"It's not a mansion!" James objected.
I grinned, "Remus and Pete are going home, and then you guys are coming to stay with us on boxing day, right?" They both nodded, grinning. "Marls, are you going home?"
"Yup," she nodded, "back to the McKinnons. Olivia is going home, and then coming to stay with me on boxing day, right?" Her small head nodded on my shoulder. "Good, and Ashleigh?"
"I'll be at home until the day after boxing day, then I'll be at yours." She smiled, and looked at Evans, as did the rest of us.
"Unlike you guys, I have to stay with my family until the 28th. My parents are going to introduce me to my sisters new fiancée."
"Wait," James said, "you're parents will be introducing you? I know you and your sister aren't quite close, but shouldn't she introduce you?"
"You'd think so. Either way, I'll be at Marlene's house on the 28th."
Remus smiled. "Great. James?" He looked at him knowingly.
James looked a little fuzzy for a second, and then suddenly grinned, nodding. "So you'll all be at Marlene's place for New Years?" They all nodded. "You know what that means, Marlene?"
Marlene's head propped up, suddenly paying attention to the conversation again. "What?"
"You'll all be at yours for New Years?" He nodded at her, slowly. Marlene had a dazed look on her face.
Olivia sighed, "yes, James, we will all be at Marlene's house. What is your point?"
"Well, every New Years Eve, my parents -"
"Oh crap!" Marlene suddenly jolted up. "Sorry guys, I completely forgot!"
"What!" Evans asked, regaining her composure after Marlene's outburst.
"Every year, our parents go to the Potter's New Years Ball."
Ashleigh nodded, slowly. "Right, we know that. We have stayed at yours before, you know."
"I know!" Marlene said, "but this year they want me to go!"
Evans nodded, and caught James' grinning face. "Oh no, I am not spending New Years Eve with someone who wants to snog me!"
"I'm so sorry!" Marlene groaned, "It's just -"
"It's just my parents don't allow children to go to the ball, and we," he gestured at Marlene and himself, "have been asking to go ever since we were about six. I assume you got the letter?" He asked Marlene.
"What letter?" I interrupted.
"I told you this, Sirius." He sighed. "Our parents have finally agreed we can all go this year, and that they expect us to dress fantastically and actually turn up after years of asking."
"So that means," Olivia started.
"So that means we are all going." He stood up before Evans could protest. "Well, I'm off to bed, Remus, Pete." The three stood up, and ran towards the stairs before they could hear Evans protest. I grinned and turned my head to Olivia.
"I'll see you in the morning," I said, kissing her goodnight. I looked over to Marlene and Ashleigh, both smiling about the idea of a 'grown up' ball. I said a brief goodnight to them, and looked over to Evans, glaring at me. "Now Evans, don't get too excited will you." I walked over to her and put my hands on her cheeks, her face burning and eyes turning red. "I'll give James your undying love and offer of matrimony." I spun around and ran up the stairs, just to hear the yell of 'Black' in the background.
Grinning to myself, I walked into our dorm.
"Sirius, are you sure this is a good idea?" Remus asked beside me. He we are, standing in an empty corridor, no luggage, and he is asking me stupid questions.
"Of course it is, you bimbo!" I sighed, pointing my wand at the rugs in front of us. "Pete, you think it's a good idea, right?"
Remus and I looked over at Pete, who had dissembled a statue of armour, and was holding the helmet. "Of course, it's brilliant! Empty corridor, three rugs, and lots of fun! It's a shame James isn't here, though."
"James wanted some time alone, so sending him ahead with all of our luggage was the best thing to do," I said.
Remus groaned next to me, again. "Sirius, what kind of best friend are you?! You're meant to go with him and ask what's wrong and stuff."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because you are his best friend."
I waved my hands at the rugs in front of us. "And this is the quickest way to catch up to him!" Before he could interrupt again, I cast a levitation charm at the rugs, making all of them rise into the air. "Now, are you going to race us or not?!" I asked him.
"No, it's dangerous and stupid."
"Not even for twenty galleons?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. He opened his mouth, and closed it again. Looking down at the floor, and sighing, he stepped up onto the rug. "Brilliant!" I yelled, jumping up. Pete put on his helmet and stepped up after us. "Okay, on the count of three -"
"THREE!" Remus yelled next to me, speeding ahead of us.
I looked over at Pete, and stared at him for a second. "That cheating bastard," I whispered. Before I could even raise my arm, Pete whizzed ahead.
"If you snooze, you lose!" He shouted. I grinned and urged my rug to go forward, speeding down the corridor after him. I advanced on Pete, and spinning my rug around his, slapped him on the head. I twisted the rug around the corner, and could see Remus in the distance.
"Remus you little shit!" I shouted, causing a few of the portraits to cover their ears. I heard him laugh in the distance. He could act mature all he wanted, but deep down, I know he is the biggest marauder of us all. I leant forward, causing my broom to go even faster. I avoided a few statues, and twisted around the corner. Remus, only a few feet ahead of me, stumbled, but turned the next corner, heading down the great staircase. I followed him, and inches behind, I could see Pete's shadow. He could fly that thing pretty well; better than a broom anyway.
"Oh shit," I heard Remus say. Ahead of us were groups of children, all heading downstairs for their breakfast. "GET OUT OF THE WAY!" He yelled next to me. The children in front spun around, and screamed, jumping down onto the ground. I laughed, and Remus, being the careful guy he is, slowed down. I gained on him, and now neck-and-neck, we zoomed down the staircase, children jumping left and right.
I pointed my wand to the closed doors at the bottom of the staircase, and opened them. Zooming through, we turned the final corner, heading down the long corridor. At the end, however, the entrance to the great hall was guarded.
"BOYS!" McGonagall shouted, raising her wand. Pete, now next to us, jumped a little.
"Okay boys," I said, "this is now a battle of nerves! Whoever gets past her, gets an extra five galleons!"
The crowds of children in front of us parted, half cheering us on, the other half screaming. I looked over at Remus, noticing him stumble. An unfortunate child was standing directly in his way. I looked ahead of me, but heard an 'ouch!" from the crowds; Remus was down. Grinning, I sped towards McGonagall, staring at her.
"BLACK!" She yelled. Before I could even reply, I felt a shiver down my spine. My rug exploded into a thousand tiny pieces, and I screamed as my body glided through the air. I shut my eyes tight, expecting the floor to hit my face, but it didn't. I opened one eye, to see a pair of half-moon spectacles looking into my eyes. Gulping, I looked around, to see Pete hovering next to McGonagall.
"Oh dammit!" I groaned. I looked at Dumbledore, "you just lost me twenty five galleons, sir!"
He chuckled, but catching eyes with McGonagall, stopped. "Everyone," he spoke up, speaking to the crowds. "Please carry on with your day. Enjoy your holidays." The crowds dispersed, some patting me on the back, other hissing at me.
"To my office, gentlemen," McGonagall said, Remus rubbing his head next to me.
"No need," Dumbledore said, causing McGonagall's jaw to drop. "They will serve detention for three days when term begins next year. Enjoy your holidays." Smiling at us, he walked into the great hall, McGonagall huffing behind him. Pete came over to me, dusted himself down and held his hand out.
"You'll get it later," I growled, hitting his hands away.
"Hey guys!" I heard a voice, James' voice, behind us. "That was unexpected."
"Really?" Remus asked, rubbing his head again.
"No, but the rugs were a nice touch."
"I was going for the mystical look," I said to him, putting my arm around his shoulder. "So, where's the luggage?"
He shrugged, "I sent them down to the train. Some girls agreed to take them."
Remus groaned this time, slapping his forehead. "You know that they are just going to go through all of them!"
He shrugged again. "Oh well, as long as it gets down there I don't really care." Remus didn't really looked too please, and glared at James. He walked into the great hall, with a cheer from the crowds who had watched our race.
"You didn't really send them with girls, did you?" I asked, Pete jogging after Remus.
"Yes, I sent them with our girls. He didn't need to know that though." I laughed, and he walked towards the ground entrance. I followed him as he walked through the doors. The bright morning sunlight shone on the frosted grass, and the small amount of students that were there picked up their things and headed towards the carriages. We walked to a little bench in the courtyard, and sat sown.
"Not hungry this morning?" I asked him. He shrugged, and ran his hand through his hair. "Okay, what's up?"
"Nothing," he sighed, putting his hands in his pockets. "It's just, last night -"
"Evans rejected you again?" He glared at me. "Don't look at me like that."
He looked towards the lake, and sighed again. What is it with people sighing? "It's just, what if she really will never date me?"
"Prongs, she will."
"But what if, Padfoot."
"Then you move on with your life, try to find another girl and then get obsessed with her!"
He smiled a little, but that quickly disappeared. "That's the thing, Padfoot. I can't get over her. I've had a crush on her ever since I laid eyes on her. You know what, I love her."
Too much. "Whoa, hold up. You love her? I know you've said things like 'she's the love of my life' whenever we try to talk you out of asking her out, and 'love you, Evans' every time she rejects you, but I had no idea you genuinely loved her."
He smiled a little bit, "well I do. If this isn't love I don't know what is. Six years chasing her, I know every detail about her, all her likes, all her dislikes, everything!"
"And where do you fall in with her likes and dislikes?" I asked him.
He put his face in his hands. "There's the question I need answering. That is the only thing I can't figure out with her. Since September this year we've had arguments, but we've spent time actually being nice to each other as well."
"Okay, like when?"
"Potions. We've been working together in potions all year, and it's been perfect. We don't argue in potions, we don't fight, we always get along and make each other laugh! We are perfect for each other!"
"Let's start here then." I said.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"Come on, we are going to the train now, we have a lot to talk about." I pulled him up and dragged him towards the carriages. "You there!" I shouted at a first year. "You know Remus Lupin?" He nodded, "good. Go and tell him that James and I have left for the train."
James and I had reached a little compartment at the very front of the train, an hour before it's supposed to leave. I pushed him inside and sat down opposite him.
"Okay, explain exactly how you act with her in potions." I said to him, conjuring a notepad. I don't intend to write anything down, I just want to look smart. "Lay down and we will get to the bottom of this."
"What do you mean? Since when have you become the master of all problems?"
I tutted, "Prongs, we all know I am much smarter than I let on, now go."
He leant back and sighed. Dammit I hate the sighing. "Okay," he started. "well, obviously it's just me and her in potions."
"Hmm, go on," I said, scratching my quill against the notepad.
"So I guess she hasn't got anyone interrupting her, and neither have I."
"Do you think that having people around influence how you act around her?"
"I don't know, maybe?"
"I need definite answers here, Mr Potter, otherwise this wont work."
"Okay, fine. I act differently with people around, but she does to!"
"Good, let your anger out," I said. He glared at me, and I put down my quill. "Are you here to glare or solve your problems?"
He snorted and spoke again. "I'll let you play your game, but yes, I do think we both act differently with people around."
"How?"
"Well, whenever people are around when I ask her out, she yells and gets really defensive."
"And when you ask her out when you are alone?"
He thought for a second. "Well, I never have."
Point to me. I could really be one of these problem-solver guys. "And we solve one problem."
He curled his forehead. "What do you mean?"
"You don't ask her out when you are alone?"
"I don't -" A sudden light appeared on his face and he sat up. "I need to stop asking her out!" He punched the air in triumph. "You're good at this, Sirius. More!" He rested his head on the cushions again and nodded for me to continue.
"Okay, so you don't ask her out when you are alone. Are you big headed?"
He creased his forehead in thought again. "Not really, no."
"Okay, do you tell stupid jokes?"
"Yes! But they make her laugh."
"Wait, they make her laugh? She doesn't tell you to shut up and get on with your life?"
"No, she laughs."
I moved the quill across the notepad again. "I think I know what's going on, James."
He shot up again. "You do?!"
"Yes. You both are completely different people when you are alone."
He looked dazed. "Okay, so what?"
"So you need to be alone with her more often!"
"I get that! That's what I'm always trying to do! She never wants to be alone with me, that's the problem!"
"Okay, so the problem lies with both of you." I put my notepad down, with the quill. James looked at it and sighed.
"You didn't write anything."
I ignored him and stood up, pacing across the room. "Firstly, Mr Potter, you need to stop being big headed and arrogant. I never thought I'd be quoting Moony, but you really do need to stop being arrogant if you truly want her."
I let that sink in for a moment, and he nodded. "I think I can manage that."
"That means no more asking her out, no more talking about yourself in front of her, no more stupid, loud, boastful, cocky behaviour!" He nodded. "Can you do that?"
"Yeah. What about the marauders?"
"We will still play pranks, just none of them harmful. Or none aimed at her. Besides," I added, "we created the marauders to help Moony, the pranking was just a bonus." I sat down. "We need to get someone to talk to her, though. She obviously likes you when you are you are in potions, so it's just in front of her friends..."
"What?" He asked. "I don't want any of them involved in whatever this is!"
"Will you let me continue. Anyway, she has been denying any sort of feelings towards you for so long, if she starts admitting she likes you, her whole reputation will crumble."
"What do you suggest we do then?"
"Well we can ask Olivia or Marls to talk to her -"
"No."
"- or we can try something else out, if you are willing?"
"What is it?"
"Ignore her."
He stood up. "You're mad?"
I stood up. "Mate, you want to know if she likes you?"
He shrugged, "obviously."
"Well, if she does, she will take you ignoring her really badly and question you, question her friends and slowly break down until she comes running back to you for attention."
He rubbed his chin, nodding. "I don't get you?"
I groaned. "James! Listen to me! If you ignore her, she will have no idea why! If she likes you, she will wonder why you've abandoned her, and she wont be able to take it. She will think you have moved on, and that might really affect her. She will eventually confess her feelings towards you, and you'll be able to move on as a happy couple. You will tell her you have finally given up on her, and with all this reverse-psychology crap, she will be the one chasing you!"
"I guess that could work..." He said. Suddenly, the train conductors were blowing their whistles, signalling that the train will begin moving in ten minutes.
Ignoring that, I continued. "The way I see it, you've given her so much attention over the years, the sudden abandonment of it will make her feel lonely and then -"
"- she will be the one running after me?" He cut in.
"If all of this works, then yes."
He stood up, paced up and down for a few seconds, and sat down again. "I'll do it. I have nothing to lose, except the scent of her amazing lavender hair."
I grinned and opened the door. "Shall we find the others?"
"Yeah." I stepped out of the room. "Sirius?"
"Yes mate?"
"Thanks."
We found the other two marauders in a small compartment at the other end of the train. We had told them about the plan; Remus thinking it to be a fantastic plan, and Pete just nodding along. We decided not to find the girls compartment, as practice for James.
The train journey continued at a steady pace; we lazed around eating chocolate frogs and playing wizards chess until the train finally came to a stop at Platform 9 and 3 quarters.
James and Peter stood up, but I signalled them down. "Wait, wait, wait." I moved my queen to Remus' queen, claiming his piece. "Check." James grinned, and Remus frowned.
"No, Sirius," James said, "that's checkmate."
"Yes!" I cried. "Another victory to the unbeatable Sirius Orion Black!" Remus banged his head on the table, and then stood up. He waved his wand at the muggle chess set, and made all the pieces fly into his bag.
"Okay, lets go."
"Can't I boast a little more?" I asked in protest as he rushed out of the room.
"No."
"Please Remmy, let me boast, I never win against you."
"Who's won what now?" Olivia asked behind me, appearing out of thin air.
I walked over to her and kissed her. "I just beat Remmy at chess!"
She nodded and grabbed my hand. "Well done, Siri. You definitely need to boast about this one."
Remus looked at her in protest. "You're meant to be the nice one!"
"Um, no, get Ashleigh over here to make you feel better. We couples have to stick together." We laughed as Remus blushed and walked out of the train. I pulled Olivia out, leading her behind a group of students.
I pulled a small package out of my pocket, wrapped in shiny paper. "This is for you." She smiled and took it from my hands, going to open it. "Whoa, don't you have any, I mean, aren't you going to wait for Christmas?"
She looked into my eyes, "but then I can't open it with you?"
Aww, my stomach flipped. How did the second most feisty girl in Gryffindor become this adorable. "Oka- Wait, no! You wait until Christmas!"
She frowned and pouted. "You're no fun."
I kissed her nose, and took the present out of her hands. "How about we wait until you come over to the Potters for the New Years Eve ball? You bring my present and I'll keep hold of this for you?"
She considered it for a moment and then nodded. "Good idea, I've got yours buried in my trunk anyway." I grinned and leaned down to kiss her, pressing my mouth against hers, tracing my tongue across her lower lip. She opened her mouth, and let me in. Our tongues played together for a few moments, until someone poked my shoulder.
Marlene stood behind me, grinning. "As great as you guys are, I just thought I'd let you know Olivia's parents are literally two feet away from you." We turned around, to see Olivia's parents walking towards us.
"Mummy!" Olivia exclaimed next to me, dropping my hand and running to hug her parents.
"You think they saw that?" I whispered to Marlene.
"Oh yeah." She smirked.
"You think they'll want to see me?"
"Definitely."
"How long were you behind us?"
"Long enough to make sure this meeting took place." I glared at her, but Olivia picked up my hand again and pulled me towards her parents.
Her mother looks just like an older version of herself; blonde hair, blue eyes, the whole body build. If I didn't know any differently (which I don't), this woman could have just cloned herself to create Olivia. Her father on the other hand, looks quite the opposite. His eyes are dark brown, brown hair, quite large around the waist and a large moustache above his lips.
"Mother, Father," Olivia said, "this is -"
"The boy who likes your lips?" Her mother said. I opened my mouth to reply, but her father cut in.
"And her tongue, by the looks of it, dear." Her father added. I stared at the two of them. How the hell do you reply to this?
Suddenly, both of them burst out laughing. "We're just joking, son," her father said, holding up his hand. "Nice to meet you. If Olivia likes you, I'm sure we will." I shook his hand and then his wife's.
"Um, yes." Olivia nudged me. "Um, I'm Sirius, and I'm dating your daughter."
Olivia's mother smiled. "We gathered that dear, after all, she's told us enough about you." I looked at Olivia, and raised my eyebrows. She shrugged and smiled.
"Either way," I said, "I'm sure she has buttered me up to you nicely enough, unless you need to know more about why I should date your daughter? I had a whole little speech planned out."
They laughed. Score one to me! "How about you come over for dinner one night? Olivia will send you an owl."
"That sounds great!" I said, grinning at them. Before either of us could speak again, I found myself being spun around and hugged.
"Sirius!" Mrs Potter yelled into my ear, squeezing me half to death. "We waited but you didn't turn up- oh. Mr and Mrs Rose, how nice to see you again." Everyone exchanged a few handshakes, and I left Mrs Potter to talk to Olivia's parents for a bit.
Pulling her and Marlene back a bit, I slapped Marlene in her arm. "You bitch, you had me thinking they were going to be evil!"
Both girls laughed, and hugged me. "Sorry," Marlene said, "the opportunity to ridicule you was there, so I went ahead and took it."
I frowned at her. "Fine, whenever you get a boyfriend, I'm going to show their parents some pretty interesting photos."
She opened her mouth in horror. "You still have them!?" I nodded.
"Wait," Olivia said, "what photos?"
I smirked at her. "You know that evening when Marlene and I went out to Hogsmeade in fourth year?"
"Yes.."
"Well, apparently one of us had a camera that evening, and Marls posed a little bit."
Olivia gasped. "You didn't!"
Marlene shrugged, the redness fading from her cheeks. "It was only one picture of me topless."
Olivia took her hand, "with or without the bra?" I laughed again, breaking down on the floor. Olivia sighed, "Marls, I'm disappointed."
Marlene waved her hand. "It's only Sirius that saw them anyway."
"That doesn't bother you?" Olivia asked.
"Liv," I said, "Marls and I have known each other since birth. We've seen each other naked practically every other week since."
"Even now?"
"Liv," Marlene said, "you're boyfriend isn't the most self-conscious guy in the world."
"I know that," she said. Not even a little bit surprised, how nice of her. "How does he see you naked?"
"We often have long chats about what's going on in our lives, since we're basically siblings, so I let him into our dorm."
"And you just strip?"
"Don't be daft, I'm usually just getting out of the shower when he comes along, that's when all of you usually leave."
Olivia waved her arms around, "we leave because you take about three hours in the shower!"
"No, I take about ten minutes, I spent all that other time talking to Sirius."
"In the shower?"
"No, in the bathroom. It's the only place we get any privacy to talk about things that we don't want anyone else to hear."
"So you don't mind letting him see you change?"
"Does it bother you?" Marlene asked.
Olivia rolled her eyes. "No, I just wished I had a friend like that."
"You have Lily?" Marlene said.
"I know, but I mean a guy."
"Oh... Well, you have Sirius now!" Marlene grinned, as did Olivia. Wait a minute.
"Wait, you and Evans see each other naked?" I asked her.
"Yes, Sirius. We share the same dorm, and have limited time to shower, shave our legs and stuff like that. To get everything done, sacrifices have to be made, like keeping our bodies a secret."
I grinned, "you wait until James hears you see Evans naked, he'll be so jealous." She frowned at me. "But," I added, "not as jealous as I am of Evans." She blushed, and looked to Marlene.
"Has he always been like this?"
"He's going to see you naked one day, talking about it now will make it easier."
"Not now, though," I added. "Parent alert." Olivia's and Marlene's parents walked towards us, Mrs Potter and James following.
"Hey," James said to me.
"Olivia see's Evans naked on a daily basis." I said to him. He looked at me, and then Olivia. Grinning like the pervert he is, he pulled her to one side.
"Hey Mr and Mrs McKinnon," I said to Marlene's Parents.
"Hey, Sirius. How are you?"
"Not too bad, sir."
"Good. Sorry we haven't wrote to you much, we've been awfully busy lately," Mrs McKinnon said.
"Don't worry, I've got other people to write to." I grinned.
Mrs Potter huffed, "then why don't you reply to my letters?"
I frowned, "I do? Maybe not the day after, but I get there."
"Sirius, I received your reply to my letter three weeks after, and I had sent you two more in between that!"
The McKinnon's and Rose's laughed, and James walked back into the scene, with a bright red Olivia.
"Sorry we can't stay," Mr McKinnon said. "We have a lot of things to do, come on Marls." We waved goodbye to the McKinnons, after we had hugged Marlene.
"We better be off to," Mrs Rose said.
I pulled Olivia aside and kissed her a final time. "So I'm coming around yours for dinner sometime?" I whispered.
"Yeah," she grinned. "I'll send you an owl as soon as we figure out a date. Wear something nice."
"Don't I always?"
She giggled, and pulled me into a hug. "Bye, Sirius, Merry Christmas." We kissed a final time, and I waved to Olivia as she and her parents walked down the platform.
"We better go too, the fireplace is calling us." Mrs Potter said. We weaved between the few people that remained on the station, and walked towards to floo-fireplaces, James and I a fair distance behind Mrs Potter.
"So," I said to James.
"Yeah?"
"Find out what you've been dreaming about the past six years?"
"Not really."
I laughed, as we sidestepped a first year. "You're joking? You powers of persuasion are incredible."
"I know, I even tried telling Olivia about what you looked like naked, but that only left her red-faced."
I stopped, "you're joking."
"I'm not, but don't worry, I made you sound good." I groaned.
"You're an idiot."
"Hey, what are friends for?"
