So sorry for the delay in updating! I'll try and be better, I promise.

The next few days were not exciting and Matilda had to admit, she was glad to be headed back to school. She was dressed in her usual fashion as though she had not been attacked. Given that it was nearing fall, Matilda made sure to wear a jacket over the t-shirt that she decided to wear. While working though, she didn't wear the jacket, which showed off her scratches and bandages. Isaac, when he entered the library was quick to comment on them.
"D-did you get those from, um, the other night?" Matilda nodded her head. "I…I'm sorry that you had to be there for that..." She smiled.
"No need to apologize or worry about me, Isaac. I can take a few hits and scratches no problem," she said with a small smile. Isaac looked at her confused a moment.
"You've been h-hit before?" Matilda nodded her head. "By who?" She looked down a bit and Isaac started to panic. "I-I don't mean to p-pry! You d-don't have to answer i-if you don't w-want to," he said hurriedly and Matilda shook her head.
"It's fine, Isaac. I was hit by my old man when I was younger," she explained quietly. Isaac looked at her, eyes wide. She reached over and gently placed her hand on his. "Things get better, I promise," she told him. He nodded his head before the bell rang, causing him to jump slightly before blushing, making Matilda smiled. "Go on and get to class. You don't want to be late." He nodded his head before he turned and was off.
The rest of the day went by rather quickly, but at lunch, things really hit the fan.
"HE DID WHAT?!" Stiles nodded his head at Matilda from her place in the lunch line. "You've gotta be kidding me…is it the moon?" She asked quietly. Stiles shrugged his shoulders. "C'mon, sweetie, speak to me here."
"I…I just…I can't believe it…" Matilda sighed heavily.
"Are you sure?"
"Not exactly, but I'm pretty sure." Matilda shook her head.
"It's okay…all werewolves get stupid during the full moon." Stiles gave her an odd look before Matilda sighed and began to recall what happened when she first found out Derek was a wolf and how it was during a full moon that he became a dick.
!Flashback!
A seventeen year old Matilda McCarthy looked at herself in the mirror. She bit down on her bottom lip. Her best friend Laura checked out herself beside her. She was smiling proudly at herself. Her blonde hair was curled to perfection and her eyes were outlined just right to make her blue eyes pop, especially with the silver eye shadow she painted on. She smoothed out her ice blue dress before she looked over at her friend. She frowned.
"What's up, Mat?" The girl sighed.
"I'm worried."
"About?" Laura's question was met by silence, making her grin. "Ah! Well, no worries I'm sure that Derek will notice you and compliment you on how awesome you look! I think we did a pretty good job," she stated proudly. Matilda laughed a bit, looking at her dark hair as it framed her face and her eyeliner and dark eye shadow, making her green eyes. She looked down at her green dress that hugged her curves, almost exactly like Laura's.
"I hope so," she murmured as she looked at herself before she slipped on her heels, Laura following suit.
"C'mon, I'm sure Derek's been ready for hours and wants to go get his date," the blonde stated, rolling her eyes. Matilda laughed before following after her and down the stairs. Once at the door, the girls waited for Derek, chatting aimlessly with their purses in their hands. At about fifteen minutes till the dance was to begin, Laura got impatient.
"DEREK. LET'S GO," the woman exclaimed. Her brother shouted he would be down in a minute before he huffed. Matilda snickered before Laura looked over at her. "Go check on him," she murmured, nudging her. Matilda looked at her friend, baffled before Laura nudged her again. Matilda muttered unkind word to her friend in response as she made her way up the stairs and towards Derek's room. Once there, she knocked gently on the door frame, trying not to giggle as he fiddled around with his tie.
"You okay, Der?" The younger teen jumped before he looked in the mirror at his friend. He sighed.
"Stupid tie," he muttered, making her grin before she approached him and turned him around. She raised an eyebrow at him before she tied his tie for him, making sure to make a dimple in the die that Carson Kresley would be more than proud of. She grinned brightly and turned him around.
"See? Not hard," she teased. "C'mon, your sister's going to end up mauling someone if we don't get down there soon." The teenager nodded his head before he turned and followed the woman out of his room and down the stairs to his sister.
"Ah! There's my baby brother! Look at how handsome you are!" She teased, making Derek roll his eyes.
"Shuddup, Laura."
"Derek!" Came the voice of Talia Hale. She had her camera in hand with a frown at her only son. "You be nice to your sister." She turned and smiled at the girls who were now standing together. "You two look lovely and you," she turned to look at her son, "look extremely handsome." Derek gave a bit of an unhappy mutter as a light pink tinged his cheeks. "Now then! Time for pictures!" Laura and Derek groaned, making Matilda laugh.
"Mom!" They both whined.
"Stop your whining. Matilda seems just fine with it." The other two quieted themselves before looking at the girl who had to use concealer to cover up the handprint shaped bruise on her upper arm. She smiled at them awkwardly before both of them sighed.
"Fine."
"You know, if I hadn't given birth to the two of you, I would swear that you two were twins," she muttered, winking playfully at Matilda, who giggled in response before the mother of the Hale children squished the children together for a few pictures. Matilda smiled at Derek and Laura's mother as she took the pictures before all of three of them made funny faces, making the mother laugh before telling them they could go to the dance.
"Thank heavens!" Laura exclaimed as she grabbed Matilda's arm and pulled her from the house. The girl waved at her surrogate mother before she was being pushed in to Laura's Dodge Charger. The girl sat in the car and watched as Derek got into his Camaro before the three were off, Laura and Matilda to the dance, Derek to get his date.
"I can't believe he took her," Laura muttered as the girls stood next to the punch bowl, glowering at Kate Argent and Derek Hale. They looked to be having a great night with Kate grinding against Derek, making Matilda's blood boil.
"God, why didn't you bring any whiskey? We could be trashed right now," she muttered as she downed a glass of punch, wishing for the burning sensation that her favorite alcohol always gave her.
"Because my mother would shoot me."
"True," Matilda muttered before she grabbed Laura's wrist. "Let's go dance before I maul her." Laura laughed and nodded.
"Sounds good!" She exclaimed as the two girls headed for the dance floor. The two girls squealed as I'm Sexy and I Know It came on. They knew all the words, jumping around and swaying their hips to the music. Most of the guys were looking at them, but the two didn't notice them as they continued to dance and enjoy themselves. Well, until Apple Bottom Jeans came on. It was then that Matilda started to get with it, but she wasn't the only one. Laura noticed that Kate was as well, which wasn't looking good for her brother, who was usually in complete and utter control of his other side. The boy's eyes flashed blue and Laura sent him a worried look. He wasn't paying attention to her, though, he was far too focused on the woman before him.
Within a few moments, Derek was pushing his way through the crowd and away from the smirking blonde woman. Laura left after her brother and Matilda, grew confused before she saw the smirking Argent. Matilda felt her upper lip twitch into a snarl as she approached the woman, pushing her.
"What the hell did you do?" Kate laughed.
"Me?" She asked innocently, making Matilda growl. The girl laughed. "I can assure you, I didn't do anything he didn't like," she said with a playful wink. Matilda closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before she turned to go see what Derek was up to. As she did, Kate pulled her back. "Remember how I excited him because you never will," she whispered into Matilda's ear, making the girl's eyes narrow before she moved forward and swiftly brought her elbow into Kate's face. The girl screamed and sent the brunette a glare, having not expected it.
"Watch the way you talk about him," she spat. Kate was going to go after her when a school official intervened, but by then, Matilda was gone to look for Derek.
Moments later, Matilda found Derek next to the Lacrosse field leaning against the bleachers.
"Derek!" The man shook his head.
"Mattie, don't!" He exclaimed, moving away from her. Matilda's eyebrows knitted together with confusion before she made her way towards him.
"Derek, what?"
"Mattie, stop, don't come near me."
"Derek, what the hell is wrong?"
"Nothing…just…just go back to the dance," he muttered as he staggered away from her.
"Seriously, what the hell is going on?" She exclaimed as she approached him. She placed her hand on his shoulder as Laura called out to her.
"Mattie, don't!" But Laura was too late, Matilda gasped, her hand flying to her mouth as she saw what looked to be Derek Hale in a mask…a terrifying mask. His eyebrows were creased downwards, extra busy. Sideburns had formed on his face and his eyes were a bright ice blue. Her eyes widened as she noticed his mouth and how the teeth in it had grown and he looked…angry before he saw her. His eyes turned back to their normal deep green. The side burns sank away back in to Derek's skin and his teeth returned to normal. His eyebrows reformed in their normal place and size. His eyes were filled with worry and sadness.
"Mattie…" Matilda moved away from Derek and ran in to Laura, who held her there.
"Mattie, it's okay."
"What do you mean it's okay?! What the hell just happened?!" The girl exclaimed, pointing at Derek. "What in the hell are you?" Derek was quiet before Laura responded.
"We're…werewolves…" Matilda blinked.
"You're joking…werewolves? What…are you kidding me?"
"No, Mattie…" Matilda looked between the two.
"Wait…'we're'?" She looked at Laura. The girl nodded her head and Matilda moved away from her as well. "You both…?" Laura nodded while Derek stood there in silence. "How…how have I not known before?" They had been friends for years, surely she would realize a pattern once a month.
"We were born werewolves. We have more control than others…usually," the blonde woman told Matilda as she shot a look at her brother.
"What happened to him?" She motioned to Derek. Laura pursed her lips.
"You tend to turn when someone raises your heart rate…" Matilda tilted her head to the side.
"Raise in heart rate…?"
"As in when you get angry, upset, or in Derek's case…horny." Matilda's eyes widened as she turned and looked at Derek, who suddenly turned bashful.
"Horny? For that…that…her? …SERIOUSLY!?" Matilda screamed at Derek. He looked at her, confused. The girl threw her hands up into the air and turned. Laura went to grab her. "Don't…just…don't," she stated before she turned and started walking home. She wasn't in the mood to deal with Laura, Derek, Kate, or anyone else's bullshit. She needed to think through everything, but first she needed to survive the walk home. As she walked, she looked up into the night sky and noticed, the moon was round, bright and full above her.
!End Flashback!
Stiles blinked.
"Damn…that's…that's some serious shit." Matilda snorted.
"Tell me about it, but for the moment, let's focus. You just try and chain Scott up like you're supposed to. Ignore what he says and does. The moon makes them do crazy things…" Stiles nodded his head and went to leave when he stopped. "…yes Stiles?"
"I, um, wanted to invite you to the game this weekend…I, um, I've made first line." Matilda smiled brightly.
"Stiles! That's wonderful! Of course I'll show up!" She exclaimed happily, making the teenager grin before he was off to class again.
The end of the work day came and Matilda grabbed her things before she headed out of the building and to her car. Instead of going home, the librarian decided to make her way to visit an old friend.
The young woman pulled into a parking spot at the hospital and sat there a moment before she plucked up the courage to get out of her car and head inside. The woman at the front desk looked at her oddly.
"I'm here to see Peter Hale." The woman blinked before she nodded her head, showing her to his room. Once inside, Matilda felt her eyes well up with tears all over again. She sat down on his bed across from him in his wheelchair. She looked up and the nurse had left, leaving the two of them alone.
"I am…so sorry about not visiting you," she murmured, tears falling down her cheeks. "I just…I can't stand seeing you like this. You used to be so young, happy, fully of life," she said with a small smile as she sniffled, rubbing at her eyes. She sighed. "It hurts to see you like this… I miss you now more than ever. Derek and I are fighting as usual and there's…there's a man somewhere who has a vendetta against me. I don't know why. I don't remember ever wronging anyone but…but I don't know that for sure either." She sighed before she reached over, her hand gently placed on his own. "I miss you so much, Peter…" She paused before laughing thickly. "I miss pestering Derek and joking with you." She sighed gently. "I suppose I could tell you about what's happened since I last saw you…well…properly," she said, remembering when she and Derek showed up.
A few hours later, Matilda was finished talking with Peter, but not of her own will. The nurse had told her visiting hours were over and with a kiss on the comatose man's cheek, she got up and left, heading for her car. She got in and sighed, sitting there before she looked outside, noticing the sky darkening already. Sometimes she hated the winter. She noticed the moon start to take shape and immediately, reversed before putting her car into gear and speeding the hell out of there and back to her house, where she knew Derek wanted her to be. Derek always hated her when she left her house during the full moon.
