'Ugh, Agent Jones this better be good.'

'Oh it's more than good boss.'

'Jerry do you ever leave work? It's nearly midnight I only just got to bed a little while ago.'

Agent Jones glared at the green digits on his bedside alarm clock. It read 23:57.

'Orders from the higher ups, they want you back in the office ready for Carmine's roll out A.S.A.P.'

'Ah shit what's happened now?'

'That girl that Carmine drew a picture of a little while ago, yep she's a Bioterrorist. We've just been sent footage of her attacking a person at point blank range. We're tracking her now.'

'I'll be there in about twenty minutes.'

'You better hurry up boss, the chiefs are getting a bit restless.'

'I'll be there as soon as I can. Do me a favour and wake Carmine up if she's asleep.'

'She's already up boss. Doctor Maynard told her the news she's waiting on you getting her too.'

'Okay. Get everything then Jerry.'

'Sure thing boss.'

Agent Jones hung up his phone and rubbed his eyes. The man was exhausted. He had been up at six that morning and only got home at around nine o'clock that evening so he wasn't looking forward to what was waiting for him back at work. He had a bunch of the D.U.P.'s head honchos waiting to see how well he could organize and control a slightly volatile Bioterrorist and a small team of D.U.P. Knights that would be backing her up on what would be their first offensive mission.

Agent Jones eventually got back to HQ, looking worse for wear and bleary eyed. He contemplated turning up in his fluffy housecoat and gorilla feet slippers but he guessed that would have been inappropriate. He had managed to drag on the clothes he had on earlier that day but minus the tie. He didn't have the time to be worrying about that. Agent Jones got in to the main mission room five minutes earlier than he expected to get there and threw himself in to the matter at hand. Jerry brought up the video they had received earlier on to the main screen. Carmine's drawing matched the girl exactly, even down to the tiniest details like the girls piercings.

'Her name's Abigail Walker boss. Also known as Fetch. Not really sure exactly what her power is, but it sure is impressive.' Jerry piped up.

Agent Jones looked over his shoulder as Doctor Maynard shuffled in along with a few members of his team before he continued watching the video.

'… never hurt an innocent person in my life.'Agent Jones flinched as the girl thrust her hand in to the chest of a man who was knelt down in front of her. The screen flashed with a bright glowing light as she touched the mans chest. After the glow faded, a visible burning hole could be seen going right through to the mans back.

'Agent Jones I hope you have a good plan, this Fetch girl is going to be a challenge for you and Carmine. Preferably we want her captured as soon as possible and brought in.' Doctor Maynard's voice boomed over the sound from the video footage. 'You will finally see the full capabilities of our work with Carmine.'

'Boss Carmine's nearly to the warehouse we tracked the target to.'

'Thanks Jerry. Switch the mic to open.'

Jerry did as he was told. The feed coming live from Carmine's collar camera was a bit dim as she was riding alongside a small group of D.U.P. Knights in the back of an armoured van. Doctor Maynard had already prepped Carmine and her team in the time it took Agent Jones to get to work and had deployed them a short while ago. "Fetch" had been tracked to an abandoned warehouse near the Marina. Doctor Maynard made his way over to Agent Jones who was stood in the middle of the mission room watching everything happening on the huge screens in front of him.

'Have every single scrap of footage forwarded to myself and to Director Augustine. I'm sure she would be very interested in this.' Doctor Maynard said to Agent Jones who just nodded in reply. Carmine and her team were now waiting on their orders.

'Carmine! Apprehend the target as quickly as possible. And please try and keep her in one piece. The Knights are there to provide assistance should you need it. Now, MOVE OUT!'

The mission room was filled with the sound of heavy boots pounding the ground and guns rattling in their slings from the microphones on Carmine and the Knights. The monstrous screen right in the middle of the back wall of the D.U.P. mission room was dominated by the footage from Carmine's collar camera. She walked slowly to the rickety sliding door of the warehouse that the target was supposedly hiding. She grabbed one of the rusty door handles and pulled on it tightly, opening the door enough for her to get through as well as the half dozen Knights she had with her. They sneakily creped in and lined up side by side behind Carmine who advanced to the far end of the warehouse. An orange glow was emitting from a corner which Carmine shuffled toward with the Knights steadily keeping up with her. Sure enough, the girl they were after was stood by a large metal barrel which she was feeding with scrap timber she had found in the warehouse; keeping a crackling fire going. The girl jumped slightly as she heard the half dozen Knights take aim with their guns.

'Who the hell are you?' The girl spoke to Carmine. Carmine just stared at her.

'I mean it, how did you find me here?' The girl said sounding defensive as she took a shaky but cautious step back.

Carmine continued to glare at her. She snapped her fingers signalling the line of Knights behind her to spread out.

'Stay back! I mean it. If you're here to take me I'm not gonna make it easy for you!' The girl shouted. Her right hand had started to glow in a strange pink and purple hue. Carmine reacted as soon as the girl started to raise her hand up as a small bright red ball of energy had formed in the middle of her palm. Carmine raised her own hand in a split second and fired a huge ball of ice at the girls glowing hand which sent her careering in to the wall behind her. The lump ice had completely frozen the girls hand to the wall. She looked shocked as she struggled to release her hand from the ice. A few seconds later the red light appeared again and a fine, sturdy beam cut through the ice releasing the girl.

'So you're a conduit huh, with the D.U.P?' The girl smirked. 'It's gonna take a lot more than one of their attack dogs to take me down!'

Carmine saw red again. She wasn't going to let that slide. Carmine launched herself in to the air as high as she could go without hitting the warehouse roof and brought two mammoth icy fists on top of the girls head as she landed. It would have worked too if the girl hadn't dodged at the last second. The girl ran circles around Carmine in her pinky-purple hue, appearing and disappearing in a similar fashion to a strobe light. She dashed round the Knights a few times, narrowly avoiding their machine gun fire but easily taking two of them down in a flash of bright, colourful light. Carmine took some deep breaths in the few seconds that the girl spent dashing around the Knights. Thankful of the particularly chilly evening, Carmine formed a long, thick pole of ice and held it rigidly in her hands waiting for the perfect chance to strike. She concentrated as she tried to keep focus on the strobing effect of the girls dash power. As soon as she felt ready, Carmine swung the pole of ice as hard and as fast as she could. She hit the girl round the back of the head in the moment between stopping and starting her next dash assault. The remaining Knights ceased firing as they saw Carmine hit the girl who landed with a thud on the warehouses hard concrete floor.

The girl was seeing stars. He head rolled about as she tried to get up off the floor and get away from the advancing Carmine who stood by the girls side and pushed her on to her back as she tried to crawl away. She began forming the thick layer of ice round her hands again, ready to encase the young Conduit and stop her from escaping. She started at the girls ankles; forming the ice in to freezing shackles as she waited for the remaining Knights to bring over the anti-Conduit cuffs that would supress the girls powers when they were on. Carmine's face was emotionless as she focussed her power, though she stopped for a moment as she saw the girl smirk slightly.

Carmine stepped back cautiously for a moment but she was too late in turning to run. The girl's body glowed with a furiously blinding light. The D.U.P. Knights who hadn't been killed all turned away and tried to shield themselves from the blinding light the girl was emitting. Carmine got the full force of the energy that was surrounding the girl. It blinded her so much to the point where she couldn't see and the energy burned her skin. She did the only thing she could to stop herself from being seriously injured so she focused all her energy in to encasing herself in as much ice as she could form. The freezing ice eased the stinging burn on her body and allowed her to rest her eyes from the light that was like looking directly at the sun. The glare of the light subsided after a few moments. Hoping it was safe to come out of her icy case, Carmine phased through and reformed her body outside in a whirl of glittering shards of ice and snowflakes.

The girl had long gone. Carmine looked around to see the remaining Knights. The girl had managed to kill two of them and one had just died within the last few moments. He had his helmet visor up when she had started her last attack. It had burnt his eyes out. Carmine was furious. Not knowing what to do, she threw a massive ball of ice at the metal drum fire the girl had been feeding earlier. It exploded upon impact.
