The Future

It was finally Spring Break at Marvel Prep, much to the students' relief. It meant time to recharge and prepare for what was to come eventually. They didn't like thinking about it too much and instead, focused on the fun that they could have at the time.

In the case of Hiro, Raine, Lewis, Theo and Dash, spending time at Lewis' home… or rather, mansion.

"Dude, how loaded is your family?" Hiro asked as he looked around the place, amazed with all the high tech he could find.

Lewis shrugged.

"We're well off. My mother is a scientist at a company and my father is a teacher at a college. And my other relatives pitch in as well since we're all living together here. Plus, one of my inventions does make money here and there. Still working on marketing."

Hiro grinned, nudging him a little.

"Oh yeah? You didn't tell me, you were making cash off those. Which one?"

Lewis smirked.

"Memory scanner. Didn't think it was important to bring up at the time, just had a lot of stuff happening."

"You gotta tell me how to get in on that." He gave a bit of a puppy pout. "We're science bros right?"

"Ya stole that from Mr. Banner and Professor Stark but we are." Lewis chuckled. "But I could arrange something… for a price."

"Name it."

"All you can eat cinnamon rolls from your aunt for one year."

"DEAL!"

Dash looked to the others.

"Anyone else speak geek?"

Raine and Theo shrugged.

"I think they're off in their own world now."

"Egg heads." Dash shook her head. "So, Lewis, any good places for us athletes to mess around?"

Lewis nodded.

"Yeah I was thinking we could hang out in the backyard. I've got something I want to test out in the hedge gardens. Fan of bouncy houses by any chance?"

"Kind of, why?" Raine asked.

Lewis gave a wave of his hand.

"Follow me."

They all filed out to the backyard, where hedges cut into various animals and objects were present.

"Who's the artist?" Dash asked as she floated up to a hedge that was trimmed into the shape of a t-rex. "They got good taste."

"Lazlo, my cousin." Lewis said. "He's got a real keen eye for art stuff."

Theo sped around the garden, stopping at a tomato patch, taking a few pictures with his phone.

"Gotta torture my brother, he's gonna be so jealous. Can I try one?"

"Go for it, they're for everyone." Lewis shrugged. "We get so many it's ridiculous, we're always giving them away."

Theo took a large bite, taking a picture of himself doing so.

"And now, Chet will be appropriately tormented."

"You're a terrible brother and it's great!" Hiro called over.

"So, what's this about bouncy houses?" Dash asked.

Lewis pointed over to a particular patch of grass that looked more like turf.

"Someone jump on that. Preferably anyone who can fly."

"I'll try." Raine said, running over to the patch.

She built up some speed before leaping onto the patch… being sprung up into the air, followed by a twang noise.

"Whoa!" She yelled, laughing. "... Duuuuuude, what is this!?"

"Bouncy turf." Lewis smiled, crossing his arms. "Figure people might like stuff like this when making safe play sets for kids."

Theo and Hiro sped over as well, jumping onto it.

"YAAAA!"

"LEWIS YOU'RE A GENIUS!"

Dash took a running leap, before making her jump, zooming past her friends, performing a flip in the air.

"YAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Lewis grinned.

"Knew you'd guys would like." Lewis turned to head inside. "I'll ask Mom to make us some lunch. Almond butter and jelly sandwiches?"

"Yes please!" Hiro laughed. "And thanks for keeping in mind the allergy Lewis!"

"Can't have one of my best buds dying on me! I'll be back soon!"

"Hey, Dr. Pepper too!?"

"You know it!"

Wasn't long before all were settled in with their food, relaxing after a long play time with the bouncy turf.

"So, got some cool news for you guys." Dash grinned. "I'm gonna be signing up for the Junior Olympics they'll be having with the school. I'm well enough to finally compete and my buddies and I are gonna have our own little team. Calling ourselves the Equestrian Girls. Cool name, right?"

"That's awesome, Dash!" Theo grinned. "Grats on that."

"It is pretty darn cool. What about you eh?"

"Chet's FINALLY letting me sign up for a race with my old team back home during the break. I couldn't believe it but apparently his girlfriend talked him into it. I owe Burn SO much when I get back." He laughed. "I couldn't before cause I was always so sick. I can't wait to show off all the stuff I can do now."

"You're gonna be great." Raine smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. "And I'll be cheering for ya."

Theo nuzzled her.

"I'll be glad to have ya. 'Sides… Gotta introduce ya to the team properly."

"Hope they don't mind a crazy gal like me."

He wrapped an arm around her.

"They'll love you."

"Sounds like you got some cool plans." Hiro chuckled. "Lewis and I are planning on entering some contests together with our inventions. We got some really cool stuff planned."

Lewis nodded.

"Yep. If we're gonna run companies of our own one day we gotta start somewhere."

"You two are gonna take over the world I swear." Dash grinned. "And we'll be glad to have ya running it."

"Maybe not running it, but lots of tech shareholds? Yes!" Hiro rubbed his hands together. "I'll be able to have Baymax, literally all over if I wanted. Even playing with ideas for Mini Baymaxes for first aid kits."

"Hey! You better give us samples… For uh… science. Right Raine?"

"Yeah!"

Theo mouthed:

"Weak for cute."

"I saw that!"

Lewis chuckled.

"We're hoping to help a lot of people one day… Honestly, I think we all do though. Am I right?"

"For sure." Dash smiled. "We may be going in all kinds of different directions but hey, we can still help in our own ways and of course, help each other. It's what friends do."

Theo nodded.

"You guys are some of the best friends I could've ever hoped for. I feel really lucky I'm going to the same school as you guys… We're gonna be friends for life… right?"

"Always." Hiro looked to all of them, warmth in his eyes. "That's something that'll never change."
