Fire Breathing Lizards
Harry gulped nervously as he stood besides his future mate, his shaking hands clinged onto Bane's horse hair in search of comfort and security. As he rested his head against one of Bane's front horse legs Harry found himself hating the fact that he was not able to be in his Centaur form until the blasted Tournament was over. The fact that the Herd had sent Centaur, called Ronan, to act as a bodyguard of sorts for Harry only comforted Harry a little bit.
"Is it just me or does it seem like time is going by too slowly," Harry grumbled as he stared out of the tent at the newest dragon that Krum was facing. "What do you think my options are going to be? It is not like the odds are ever going to be in my favour...I really do not want to do this."
"Fear not young one, you will be successful in your hunt for the fake egg and return to much praise and congratulations," Ronan said confidently as he gave Harry a sure look. "Just be brave and do not forget that your future mate and I are here to help you if you get into any trouble or we find it needed Bane and myself will step in and protect you. So do not be scared!"
"Meow, I am a big scaredy cat," Harry deadpanned causing Ronan to groan and Bane to chuckle. "If I go out there to face that dragon I will need a load of fire fighters backing me up as I throw any chance of good luck out of the window and act only on suicidal behaviours!"
"Harry..." Bane began only for his younger mate to cut him off.
"No, I do not want to go out there and face that dragon...though it has to be done...I really am starting to believe that saying about how nice people are always killed first," Harry grumbled with a pout as he glared straight ahead of him. "I think that I am starting to develop a beautiful friendship with life threatening situations. Do you think that I might have a stroke of rare good luck and the dragon might just hand me the fake egg without me having to fight or battle or anything?"
Bane gave a hopeful look. "While I hope for the same thing my dear one something tells me that we will not be gifted that. Last night the stars told me that you would be victorious...though the battle would be difficult and hard."
"Gee, thanks," Harry said sarcastically causing Ronan to raise an eyebrow and Bane to chuckle. "I am about to walk to my doom and face something that could kill me and all you can talk about is the stars? Man, I feel like this tournament is encouraging suicidal behaviour, maybe those who are on death row or something!"
"Well foal, the humans in the large stone castle and those who come to visit them have never been known as being smart," Ronan said playfully yet seriously. "Bane...as the foal's bodyguard is it possible for us to swap places? The spell that keeps him in this human form will do more damage than the human's realise...and as an adult Centaur and there being a foal at risk-"
"Ronan my friend I wish what you are suggesting was possible," Bane said with a heavy sigh as he and Harry shared a worried and fearful look. "But there is not...believe me, I have spent thousands of hours in the human library looking for a way to remove my mate from this horrid tournament but it is not possible."
Suddenly a voice boomed from outside, sounding as if it was on a loud speaker. "Will Mr. Harry Potter, repetitive of the Forbidden Forest Centaur Herd please make his way into the ring?"
"Well," Harry muttered softly, his body tense as he tried his best to stay brave. "Here goes nothing I guess. Wish me look guys."
End of Drabble.
