As always thank you all for the reviews!
Scorpius watched as Rose walked away. He paused wanting to call after her but thought better of it. He was frozen and
wet from their snow war. He made his way to his bathroom of choice (the room of requirement of course) for a nice hot shower.
As he entered the room of requirement however he was disappointed (if not annoyed) to find it already occupied.
Albus sat on a velvet couch his eyes glassed over in front of a roaring fire place. No not at all the bathroom Scorpius oh so
needed.
"Potter. Hasn't anyone told you this is my personal room and no one else's?" Scorpius teased walking over and he stopped in his tracks.
In Albus's hands was that book. The creepy quidditch book that had burned Scorpius when he had tried to get it off Albus weeks ago. I
t had in Scorpius's opinion caused Albus to faint and act odd. Albus had told him he had gotten rid of it; mailed it to his father to inspect.
"Albus!" Scorpius hissed walking in front of his friend. Albus didn't move, he didn't react. He stared listlessly into the roaring fire in front
of him. On closer inspection the room of requirement had mirrored the Slytherin common room almost exactly. Not that that wasn't
creepy or anything Scorpius thought to himself.
"Albus," Scorpius said shaking his friend's shoulder. He snapped his fingers in front of Albus's face. There was no reaction.
Albus just stared forward as if Scorpius were not even there. Scorpius swore under his breath.
"Potter come on!" Scorpius said nudging Albus in the chest with his wand. "Snap out of it!"
Albus didn't so much as blink.
Scorpius scowled at the quidditch book in Albus's hands. He gingerly placed his fingers on the book and drew his hand back
quickly. It had burned him. Again.
Scorpius swore under his breath. Maybe it was time to bring a professor into this. Which simply went against all of Scorpius's
moral codes but what else could he do? Scorpius didn't quite feel like charring his hand off today. Last time had been quite enough.
Scorpius bit his lip and walked out in search of the first professor he could find.
***Warning: Mild Slash. If it's not your cup o' tea skip to the next set of stars.
Albus sat in Slytherin common room looking at Scorpius.
"I don't like it Scorpius," Albus said after a beat. He had been meeting Scorpius every night since the kiss. Meeting him
in classrooms here and there or in the Slytherin common room. It was often empty and convenient.
"You don't like what?" Scorpius said a small smirk playing on his lips. He sat next to Albus in front of the fire.
"We hardly hang out anymore," Albus said.
"What do you call this," Scorpius teased tugging on a strand of Albus's hair.
"You know what I mean," Albus said making a face.
"You're the one that said you didn't want anyone to know about us," Scorpius said lying back looking up at Albus so his
head was in his lap. He smirked raising a single blonde eyebrow.
Albus couldn't help but smile.
"I know but I don't like hardly seeing you during the day," Albus said hesitantly running his fingers through Scorpius's silver
hair. Scorpius closed his eyes.
"I look better by moonlight," Scorpius scoffed.
"I'd like to see you in the sunlight," Albus teased. Scorpius gave him a half smile and gently grabbed a handful of untidy black
hair before pulling Albus's lips against his own.
Albus blushed.
"Are you ever going to stop blushing when I kiss you?" Scorpius asked a smile playing on his lips. "Or am I just so gorgeous
you can't help it?"
Albus made a face at him.
"Gorgeous? Please," Albus scoffed.
"Albus lied badly," Scorpius drawled his eyes lit with mirth. Albus couldn't help but laugh.
Scorpius walked quickly down the hall ignoring the sudden pain in his arm. His left arm had been giving him trouble this week.
The black veins had reached his shoulder once more and he'd be lying if he said he didn't feel more tired than usual. He just
wanted a hot shower. It's not like he asked much from the world. But no, no, Albus had to go and get himself possessed by
an evil quidditch book.
Scorpius held back an audible groan as he saw Kirkwood walking down the hall.
"Professor," Scorpius drawled. Kirkwood's brown eyes landed on him.
"There's something wrong with Albus," Scorpius said.
Why did it have to be Kirkwood? Why hadn't he found Professor Longbottom or Professor Bulstrode or even Professor Trelawney
the crazy old divination professor? Why Kirkwood?
"What do you mean?" Kirkwood drawled.
"There's this book. It's- I don't know. It was given to him at some stupid party. It follows him. I know it sounds stupid but it
does. It stalks him worse than a prepubescent school girl. And trust me; those are hard to get rid of. But now it's doing something
else. It's like – it's possessing him," Scorpius finished.
"You're telling me a book has possessed Mr. Potter?" Kirkwood drawled her voice like ice and her eyebrows arching in disbelief.
Scorpius scowled. Yes he knew how stupid it sounded but there were books capable of such things. Tom Riddle's diary was only
one example.
"Did I stutter?" Scorpius drawled raising a single eyebrow at the professor. It was Kirkwood's turn to scowl.
"Alright, take me to him Malfoy," Kirkwood said looking annoyed. Scorpius led her to the room of requirement as fast as he could
which, to his great annoyance, wasn't as fast as he had liked. He just felt so tired and drained. He hadn't felt this way earlier. Yes
the basilisk bite takes its toll but it's never been quite this bad. Scorpius shook his head. He didn't have time to think about that right now.
Albus was in trouble.
He just knew it. Something was seriously wrong with that book.
Scorpius opened the door to the room of requirement Kirkwood on his heels. Albus looked up from the couch looking a little confused.
"Oh there you are I was wondering where you had run off to," Albus said looking at Scorpius.
"Where I had- you saw me earlier?" Scorpius demanded. Albus's confused stare deepened. Kirkwood pushed past Scorpius looking
between Albus and Scorpius.
"Where's the book?" Scorpius asked.
"Book? What book?" Albus demanded and he glanced at Kirkwood nervously. "And why did you bring a professor here?" Albus asked
looking stunned.
"You know what book! That quidditch book," Scorpius said looking equally confused as Albus.
"That thing? I mailed it to my father weeks ago remember?" Albus said blinking. Scorpius scowled. The book had him bewitched.
Completely and utterly bewitched. It was messing with his mind; there was no other explanation.
"It's on you somewhere," Scorpius said walking over and he grabbed the front of Albus's robes before he started searching
them. Albus squeaked and blushed jumping back.
"H-hey what are you doing!?" Albus said staring at Scorpius mortified. Was Scorpius really going to get all physical on him in
front of Kirkwood of all people!? Albus thought mortified.
"I'm looking for the book. You have it somewhere on you even if you don't know it!" Scorpius said crossing his arms his silver
eyes narrowing.
"My father has it, you can ask him! Now if you don't mind I'm going to bed," Albus said staring at Scorpius in confusion. He had
told Albus he'd be right back – and he had brought Kirkwood ranting about that strange book he had given his father weeks ago.
He was starting to wonder) if the basilisk wound was starting to effect Scorpius's mind. Scorpius was acting completely insane.
"I'll see you later," Albus said and he glanced at Kirkwood. "There's no book. Really. My father has had it for weeks. Scorpius must
be confused," Albus said.
"I'm so not the one who's confused," Scorpius scoffed crossing his arms.
"Well you wouldn't mind taking off your robe than would you? Letting me check its pockets then?" Kirkwood said looking annoyed.
Albus shrugged and handed her his cloak. Kirkwood searched it over and handed it back.
"There's no book Malfoy," Kirkwood said giving Scorpius a pointed stare. "I suggest you get some rest you are not looking so well," Kirkwood continued.
Scorpius scowled.
He was not confused. He did not need rest. The book had Albus half possessed and Kirkwood had not searched hard enough. He
was certain it was somewhere in Albus's possession. If Kirkwood wouldn't help him he'd take matters into his own hands.
"Right," Scorpius said letting Kirkwood think she had made her point. Albus gave him a small smile.
"You should get some rest you don't look to good," Albus said gently.
"And yet I still am the best looking boy in this school," Scorpius drawled with a smirk. Albus smiled and Scorpius watched him go
followed by Kirkwood once again telling Scorpius to get some rest.
Scorpius crossed his arms. He was not giving up this easily. Scorpius Malfoy was not a push-over. Especially to a stack of paper with binding.
Rose smiled sitting in Gryffindor common room losing at chess with Lily.
"You seem very happy today," Lily said looking at her cousin curiously.
"I'm always happy," Rose sniffed.
"Happier than usual," Lily said with a shrug.
"I just had a nice day is all," Rose said feeling to her horror her cheeks glow red. Lily's eyes widened fractionally and she smirked.
"It's a boy isn't it?" She said with a devilish grin.
"It is not, shut up," Rose said and she sighed watching Lily's chess pawn decapitate her poor bishop. What did the bishop ever do
to the pawn anyway? It had led a good life, her little bishop darting diagonally here and there with no real plan.
"It is though," Lily said resting her chin on her fist staring at her cousin. "Who?"
"No one!" Rose scoffed. She looked across the room at Albus who walked in looking worried.
"Hey," he said pulling a chair up to them.
"You're back earlier than usual," Lily remarked.
"I'm worried about Scorpius. I think the bite mark is really taking a toll on him. He seems to be. . . very confused," Albus said biting his lip.
"He seemed fine to me earlier," Rose said sighing as another one of her chest pieces met its bitter end. Lily looked at Rose and she gasped.
"Scorpius!? He's the boy that has you so happy?" Lily demanded jumping to her feet. Albus raised an eyebrow.
"What does that even mean? Rose what is she saying?"
"Rose is practically glowing I knew it was a boy; but Scorpius-"
Rose blushed furiously.
"Lily stop it. Scorpius and I had a nice time today that is ALL. I am not glowing!" Rose said looking flushed.
Albus squinted staring between Lily and Rose.
"Lily he thinks of you as a sister you know that. Please don't tell me you're upset? Rose was probably just hanging out with him.
I think he has his eyes on someone else," Albus said casually.
"He what?" Rose demanded looking at Albus.
"I mean well – he hasn't hounded you at all in weeks so," Albus said quickly. He did not need anyone finding out about him and
Scorpius. He so was not ready for that.
"This is nonsense. Yes I spent time with Scorpius today and it was nice it doesn't mean I like him he is-"
"Devilishly handsome? A gift upon man kind? Possesses the powers of impeccable timing?" Scorpius drawled from the entrance
to the common room. Rose squinted at him.
"How long have you been there!?" Rose demanded.
"Were you really glowing?" Scorpius asked looking innocent.
"Shut up!" Rose said her cheeks turning a darker shade of red. Scorpius smirked and he looked at Albus.
"Albus,"
"Scorpius?"
"Stupify."
Lily's jaw went slack as Albus toppled over and Scorpius smiled looking quite pleased with himself putting his wand away.
"Okay we don't have much time; we need to tie him up. And for Merlin's sake someone get Hugo," said Scorpius turning
to Rose and Lily.
"You come in here and knock Albus out and you think he's the one who needs to be restrained?" Lily demanded.
"Yes I do. He's possessed," Scorpius said firmly.
"Possessed? By what?" Rose demanded.
"A book. Possibly a demon. Or worse a horcrux. Probably one of Kirkwood's," said Scorpius and he sighed seeing neither of
the girls intended to restrain Albus in any definition of the word. Scorpius took out his wand and flicked it levitating Albus
onto the couch. He flicked his wand and rope shot out of his wand and wrapped themselves around Albus.
"Scorpius are you mad!?" Lily squeaked.
Scorpius gazed at Lily lazily. "I've never given any of you a reason not to trust me. Why all the suspicion?"
"Well…no but you- you realize you're acting completely mad?" Lily said gently.
"He's only a little over the top than usual. I do remember Hugo droning on and on about a quidditch book. It kept appearing
near Albus, in his things. That book?" Rose asked a thin line of worry on her face.
"That's the one," Scorpius said taking Albus's wand off of Albus and searching him over for said book.
"I'll go get Hugo," Rose said firmly and she ran from the Gryffindor common room her hair waving like wildfire right behind her.
Lily bit her lip looking Scorpius over. He was paler than usual, and he had dark circles underneath his eyes. His usually perfectly
manicured nails were brittle and had a yellow tinge.
"Scorpius," Lily said gently squeezing her fists tightly. His silver eyes met her chocolate brown. "You look really
unwell. Is. . . Is the bite getting worse?"
Scorpius stared at her for a moment and smirk found its way onto his features.
"What? This?" Scorpius said gesturing around himself. "I feel great, no idea what you mean. I've just been messing with the
occult you know, dark magic things like that, takes its toll."
Lily forced a smile. But she was right. The bite clearly was getting worse. But why now? Scorpius seemed fine for
weeks, no, better than ever even.
"She spit on me," Ron said looking cross.
"You're lucky that's all she did – did you see the chunk of flesh she took out of Malfoy's arm?" Harry demanded staring
down at Astoria Malfoy. With difficulty they had subdued the once elegant and proud witch and currently had her petrified
and laying in one of the many Malfoy guest beds.
"Malfoy was she acting strange before she-"
"Grew fangs and tried to kill me?" Draco finished.
"Yeah."
"Not really. She was putting all her effort into finding a cure for Scorpius. Then she got sick," Scorpius said.
"I'm still going with demon possession," Ron said firmly.
"Could be a number of effects from dark magic," Hermione said looking Astoria over.
"You saw the same thing I saw right? Malfoy's wife scuttling along the ceiling like a spider, growling, and roaring –and her nails
are like knives. How is this not a demon possession?" Ron demanded.
"We have to cover all our options Ron. We need to understand as much as we can so we can properly help her. What if it's
something else?" Hermione demanded.
"Then let's hope it's contagious and spreading to Malfoy," Ron said under his breath earning him a kick from his wife.
"Malfoy be honest has she ever practiced dark magic before?" Harry asked looking at Draco.
"No," Draco said crossing his arms.
"Do you have any reading materials in your library that covers dark magic?" Harry asked. Draco sighed.
"Yes."
"We need to start going through them. This isn't anything I've come across before and I don't think St Mungo's can treat her," Hermione said.
Ron looked horrified.
"Books? You want us to go through Malfoy's books? You realize Malfoy's entire library must be full of books on dark magic?"
Draco merely snorted.
Hugo bit his lip staring at Scorpius Malfoy.
Scorpius Malfoy stared back.
"Well it's possible the book could possess him. It's not unheard of," Hugo said finally. Rose and Lily sat on either side of
the now awake and quite pissed off Albus Potter.
After several shouts and curses Scorpius decided Albus would be safer with a silencing charm. Now Albus sat on the couch
sandwiched between his sister and cousin, tied with rope, staring at everyone murderously.
"But I examined that book. Except for the fact that it kept disappearing from my room and into Albus's it seemed completely
normal. I read it front to back. I checked it for dark magic," Hugo said trying to ignore Albus's staring at him. "There didn't
seem to be anything wrong with it."
"But there is. I mean despite the fact it can apparently disappear from a place and appear in another it's been putting Albus
in these strange trances. I've seen it twice now. And when I tried to remove the book from him it burned me. Don't look at
me like that Albus. I'm trying to help you," Scorpius scoffed.
Albus let out a muffled angry reply.
"You don't seem to realize its happening. You don't seem to be missing any time either. So I don't know what it is you think
you're doing when you're in those trances but- it's nothing good," Scorpius said thoughtfully.
"We need to go to my father with this, he'll know what to do," Lily said thoughtfully.
"Or at least an auror. There are two making their patrol every hour by Gryffindor common room," Hugo said thoughtfully and he
glanced at Albus. "And maybe perhaps we could untie Albus?"
"No, no, definitely not. He could be possessed right now. I don't want to take that chance," Scorpius said and he looked amused.
Albus growled.
"But the books not on him," Hugo said looking Albus over.
"We can't be too sure," Scorpius said with a sly smirk.
"You just like torturing him don't you?" Rose asked.
"Rose, that hurts. I would never want to cause my best friend any hurt, harm, or discomfort," Scorpius said so earnestly
Rose laughed despite herself.
"The book was given to Albus anonymously like the whiskey. It's probably planted by whoever put the basilisk in Scorpius's
trunk and tried to poison Albus. I think we should go straight to my dad about this," Lily said clearing her throat. Scorpius
looked thoughtful.
"Then lets owl him," Hugo said.
"Owl? No, no, no. That will take far too long. We need to get this taken care of as soon as possible. This is a crisis, it
has to be dealt with as soon as possible," Scorpius said staring at the fireplace.
"Then what do you suggest?" Rose asked raising her eyebrows at the dramatic Malfoy. Then again if Albus really was possessed
Scorpius was right. Just because Albus acted normal and like Albus didn't mean he wasn't under the control of who knows what.
"I have some floo powder in my dorm room," Hugo said disappearing up the boys' dormitory stairs.
"We can floo powder to Albus's house. Uncle Harry should be there," Rose said thoughtfully and she looked to Scorpius who
nodded. Albus was right. Scorpius did not look well. A few hours ago Scorpius had been fine, completely fine.
"Scorpius," Rose said gently looking at him.
"Rose?" Scorpius asked looking back at her his silver eyes bright.
Lily squirmed, feeling as if she should not be here for the conversation. She knew Scorpius did not like her. It didn't mean she
wanted to see him and Rose more than friendly. She looked to Albus who was giving his best death glare to Scorpius. Scorpius
didn't seem to notice, he was completely focused on Rose.
"Can we talk in private?" Rose asked. Scorpius blinked in surprise.
"Yes, of course," Scorpius said and he and Rose stepped out of the Gryffindor common room.
"What is it?" Scorpius asked gently looking at Rose curiously. Rose looked up at him.
"I just… have a really bad feeling," Rose said swallowing hard. It wasn't often she was open. Especially to Malfoy of all people.
But lately her world had been completely turned around.
"A bad feeling?" Scorpius said putting on a smirk. "Would you like to make me give you a good feel-"
"Don't, please; just listen. Someone is trying to kill you and Albus. And they haven't made a move in over a month.
Not since the fire whiskey incident. That was the same night Albus got the book. And now the book is doing things.
Whoever is trying to hurt you and Albus they are still out there and we are not anywhere near finding out who they
are and Albus has been trying," Rose said taking a breath.
Scorpius listened quietly, for once holding back his sarcastic remarks.
"That's why he went to that bar with you the sleazy weasel-"
"Sleazy weasel? Sounds like you're mother's pet name for your father. It's called the Hungry Coyote," Scorpius offered
with a smirk. Rose made a face at him.
"Whatever. He's trying to figure out who did this. And now he's being possessed or manipulated by something the attempted
murder probably gave him," Rose said biting her lip. "I'm worried about him. And I'm worried about you," Rose said softly and
she took Scorpius's hands gently. A slight pink tinge hit Scorpius's cheeks and he looked at Rose in surprise. Rose stared at
him her ice blue eyes like a storm.
"The aurors are here and they haven't found who did this. Albus hasn't found who did this, Uncle Harry, my dad, no one knows
who is doing this. I just have this awful sinking feeling that something very bad is going to happen soon. Scorpius please be
careful," Rose said her voice barely a whisper. "Something's happening to Albus and I can't- don't let anything else happen to you.
Please. Promise me."
Scorpius stared at Rose in shock. He had never seen Rose so concerned. Not for him.
"I promise."
AN:
Hugo: Hello this is Hugo here to help clear up any confusion there might be!
Author: What!? You say that as if the last few chapters have been rushed, poorly written and
implemented, lacked proper foreshadowing and were over all confusing!
Hugo: …
Author: …
Hugo: Let's start with the love triangles.
Scorpius likes Rose.
Rose likes Scorpius.
Carrow likes Rose.
Author likes pizza.
Albus believes Scorpius likes him due to hallucinations he is suffering through a magical quidditch book which stalks him.
We do not know how the book is doing this or why. Bad, bad, magical quidditch book! Albus now likes Scorpius, and believes
Scorpius likes him back. Albus is unaware of what the book is doing. Albus fully believes he sent the book to his father. He even
may have. But the book has been known to stalk him. Scorpius is unaware that Albus believes they are sneaking off every night f
or kissing and other such things.
Hugo: Alright now to cover Astoria.
Author: who?
Hugo: I believe in your notes you've named her 'evil slut bag who took Draco from me but thank god she's not Pansy'.
Author: Oh yeah. That's because Draco is my one true love.
Hugo: …right.
Hugo: A few chapters ago when Astoria was searching for a cure for Scorpius she found a book: The 6 ways to defy death and the 7 prices to pay. Soon after that she began to look really tired and ill. Then she locked herself up in her room. Now something horrible has clearly happened to her.
Author: mwahaha
Hugo: Now what the author meant to do was to show the more Astoria got ill the better Scorpius became. This was key information the reader needed.
Author: what do you mean I totally showed that!
Hugo: . . .
Author: . . .
Author: well maybe I didn't it was in my notes at least.
Hugo: Bad, bad author! So what you the reader need to know is that Astoria is suffering from …something we
don't know…. Because she used black magic in the black magic book she found to help her son. And now it seems
it is no longer helping Scorpius but it had been since the Halloween ball.
Author: That was TOTALLY hinted at and discussed in the story.
Hugo: . . .
Author: The purple marks!
Hugo: that weren't explained until last chapter?
Author: Well it was supposed to be hinted and discussed in the story. Darn.
Hugo: So a quick sum up. Scorpius likes Rose, Rose likes Scorpius. Carrow likes Rose. Albus likes Scorpius and believes
he is in a secret relationship with Scorpius thanks to a magical book. Everyone including Scorpius is unaware of this.
Something horrible has happened to Astoria for using dark magic to try to save Scorpius. (This worked for a small amount
of time but now is no longer working)
Author: okay I think that makes things clear!
Hugo: Also worth noting teddy, Draco, and the golden trio are searching for the escaped deatheaters. These escaped
deatheaters may or may not have to do with Scorpius being bitten by a basilisk, being poisoned by fire whiskey, etc.
Author: I hope everything is much clearer now. . .because it's all about to change!
