And another. I think I'm gonna go home now. I'll write more in a few hours maybe.
I don't own!
Enjoy!
The vast oceans were endless and intimidating.
As land creatures by nature, the humans started to get antsy.
Being on a ship for so long was not natural, or at least, so says Eustace. But being both a land and air creature now, he was probably double against the wood of the ship. He would be most likely found over the water, searching for fish, or just going for a swim, anything to get away from the ship, though he would sleep on deck, and rest, though it has been getting far and few between that he rested on the deck.
Three weeks of flying around and getting used to his wings have strengthened them, making it easier for him to move and maneuver. You could see him most days, making complicated looking twists and turns in the sky. Reepicheep more likely then not on his head or back. They fastened the coracle into a type of saddle for the mouse.
"Land Ho!" Reepicheep screeched as he and Eustace landed on the deck.
"Excuse me?" The captain, who had taken a great disliking of Eustace for some reason, probably a mix of the annoyance the boy gave him as a human and the anger at the dragon for doing his job, and for the reprimand from the Kings and Queen.
"We saw land, only ten minutes off course." Reepicheep pointed to his right. "There was room to land there, as far as I could tell." Reepicheep told his King, who nodded.
"Let's get going then." Caspian looked pointedly at the captain, just waiting for the man to disagree. The captain sneered, but turned to his men.
"Let's turn the ship, our heading, land!"
Once they landed and got off, they searched the island, quickly, and only close by. Edmund found a small stream of fresh water. Once their supply of water had been refilled, Caspian called out,
"Everyone, it's getting dark! Let's set up camp and continue in the morning." He moved to lay his blanket next to his husband, who had already picked a place. Lucy made sure everyone was a decent distance away from the couple, a few tree's blocking enough of the view.
Lucy gave her brother a thumbs up before moving away to set her own bed.
Eustace and Reepicheep moved up onto a hill, a small fire set for the little mouse, the two just basking in the silence, no flying, no crew, only the faint sounds of birds and the ocean crashing on the shore below. It was quiet and peaceful and it helped them think, it helped them feel relaxed. Both fell asleep pretty easily.
Eustace woke first, yawning loudly before stretching. He looked down at the camp, and found that no one had woken yet. He smirked to himself before jumping off the cliff, swooping down above the others, sending a gust of wind at them. He laughed to himself before diving into the ocean, grabbing a few fish with his claws.
He burst through the surface and flew high, spreading his wings out and lifting himself higher into the air, grinning a dangerous grin. Once he was high enough, he turned and folded his wings against his body, going into a dive, right above the crew.
Most woke with a scream on their lips. Lucy laughed out loud before dodging the fish, which Eustace had chucked down, nailing the crew members with raw fish. Half the crew laughed loud, others grumbled under their breath. None said anything to the Queen, who was having the time of her life, laughing at them from the shelter of a large tree.
Eustace stopped in the air above the crew, hovering just out of arms reach.
Lucy could tell that he was laughing with her.
"What is going on?" Edmund asked, pulling on his sword on, Caspian doing the same with his own.
"Eustace brought us breakfast." Lucy cheered, pointing at the fish that was scattered everywhere, a couple still flopping around a bit.
"I see. You having fun there Eustace?" Edmund asked with a grin. The dragon heaved a quiet roar, growling playfully down at them. Reepicheep was watching with a smile on his face from the cliff.
"We're going to go exploring, we'll see you guys later." Edmund pat his cousin on the head. Lucy smiled at him. Eustace nodded and watched the group leave. He turned to his friend and the two decided to take to the skies, trying to find some more fruit trees.
The three royals found themselves moving through the hills, getting slightly farther from camp quick. Lucy was talking with Caspian when Edmund fell through a hole before them.
"Edmund!" The two screamed as they rushed to the hole.
"I'm" He coughed loudly. "I'm fine!" He called up, clearing his throat.
"We'll get you out!" Lucy called down. Caspian pulled out some rope from his bag, gripping one end he threw the other down the hole.
"Uh, Guys? You need to see this!" Edmund called out, awe filling his voice.
The two tied the rope off and slowly descended, moving to stand next to an awestruck Edmund.
A huge, underground lake filled more then half of the cavern, submerging so much in shimmering golden clear water.
"Is that a statue?" Lucy asked, squinting into the water. And there was, a human sized and shaped statue, laying close to the shore.
"I wonder who would push a statue such as that into a lake? It seems too valuable to just throw away." Caspian commented when he saw it. Edmund grabbed a branch from where they had fallen and dipped it into the water, trying to find out if the statue was as heavy as it looked. But the branch grew too heavy for him to hold, jerking out of his hand and falling into the water.
"What?!" Edmund looked at the branch with wide eyes, curious as to what happened. He quickly grabbed another branch, smaller, more of a stick, and dipped it into the water, pulling it out quickly and setting it on the ground.
All three watching in equal parts awe and horror as the stick turned into pure gold. Edmund snapped the stick in half and sure enough, pure gold, through and through.
"That isn't a statue, is it?" Lucy asked, looking at her brother with wide eyes. Caspian looked closely, trying to make out a face. He didn't find it, but he did see a symbol on the man's shirt.
"It's Lord Restimar." Caspian whispered quietly, almost unintelligible. Edmund hugged him, Lucy pulling both into her arms, clutching them hard. They stayed there, standing together silently, for a few minutes, just holding each other. They left just as quietly, moving at bit faster away then they had intended, wanting to get away.
Once they got to the camp, they were stopped by Reepicheep, who had only gotten back minutes before them.
"Are you alright Sire? You look like you saw a ghost." Reepicheep looked at them, his brows furrowing in worry.
"We found another lord." Edmund told him, before leading Caspian away. Lucy looked at them sadly. Reepicheep nodded, moving to talk with his friend and leaving the royals to comfort each other.
Ahh, poor Caspian. He was trying to find and save them, but this happened.
