~Lizzy's PoV~
Draco entered the Great Hall with a smirk on his face as if he was up to something. It hurt to look at him with that silky blonde hair and those beautiful silver blue eyes after what he said to me. I didn't know why it hurt so much, but it did. He sat in the seat right next to me still smirking like mad.
"Malfoy," I greeted sneering.
He sneered back, "Evans."
As he ate, I looked over at him from time to time, and he looked sad. He looked as if there was something bothering him, but I just couldn't figure out what. One of the times I looked, he was looking directly into my eyes, and I saw such profound sadness and fear that I just couldn't leave him hurting. After breakfast, I stalked off attempting to avoid the questions that I knew were waiting for me. I avoided Draco for the next few weeks till Halloween when my attempts to stay away failed, and he began to call me all sorts of names that I know weren't true like mudblood and others; it hurt to hear him say such things, but I could also tell he wasn't really into it. I ran, crying, to the nearest girl's lavitry and hid in a stall. After a while, I heard another girl enter to cry, but I ignored her to pour out my own pain. I was in there for who knows how long before the troll came in. As the other girl and I hid from the troll, I realized that she was the muggle-born Granger. We were both so scared till Harry and Ron came in and stoped the troll.
Harry stuck his wand up the troll's nose and wound up sitting on it's shoullders before it finally got a hold of him and he was dangling upside down pulling himself up to prevent being hit by it's club, but I knew he would't last long like that. Hermione then made the motion for the levitation charm we had been practicing, and he used the spell to lift the club up over the troll's head, and dropped it on its head. Harry was dropped as the troll fell, knocked out by its own club.
Not long after the troll was knocked out, McGonagall, Quirell, and Father all came and found us with the knocked out troll.
"What is going on here?" McGonagall asked.
I quickley answered, "I was in here crying because Draco cornered me and was calling me all sorts of names when Hermione came in crying as well. A little while ago, the troll showed up, and if it weren't for these two boys here, we'd probably be dead. I don't even know why they were coming here anyways."
Father got an angry look on his face, and walked over to pull me into a hug completely surprising the three Gryffindors.
"And you two?" McGonagall asked sternly to the two boys.
"Well, you see professor," Ron began, but Hermione cut him off.
"I heard someone talking mean about me earlier without knowing who it was, so I ran in here. Harry and Ron must have found out I was in here and came to make sure that the troll wouldn't get to me. They're very good friends."
"Is that true, Mr. Weasley?" McGonagall looked upon the boy.
"Yes, mam, it is," he replied. "Lavender told us where she was. We couldn't leave her for anything to happen."
Father looked to Harry and Ron with a look I'm sure the two of them have probably never seen on his face, "Thank you, Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley. I know you came for Miss. Granger, but you saved Elizabeth as well. I don't know what I would do if something happened to her."
"You're welcome, Professor," Harry replied.
"Fifty points will be awarded to each of you," McGonagall said. "For sheer dumb luck."
Harry and Ron nodded before heading off to the Gryffindor tower with Hermione. Once they were gone, Father took me to his quarters before he finally let the tears I knew he was hiding fall. He cried for close to half an hour before he was able to speak.
"When I didn't see you in the Great Hall when the troll was announced, I was so scared," Father said. "I'm so grateful that Potter was there for once."
"I know, Father, but I'm okay now. Don't worry anymore. Everything's fine."
"Mr. Malfoy is going to be hearing from me about this. If it weren't for his bullying, this wouldn't have happened."
"Father, I know you're angry, but let me handle Draco. I think I know what's wrong, and I think I'm the only one who can help him."
"Are you sure, Lizzy?"
"Yes. This is something I need to do," I replied. "He told me that his father doesn't know kindness. I think he's been beaten before, and he's afraid of doing something that Lucius would disapprove of in fear of a beating. I need to talk to him about it."
"All right, Lizzy. Would you like me to summon him and leave the two of you alone?"
"Yes, please."
Next chapter is the conversation, and they're going to be realizing something very important at a young age. I'm going to switch to Draco's PoV, then afterwards, I'll put the whole conversation into Lizzy's PoV. It aught to be interesting.
