Chapter 14
~Twi and Sky~
Twi's eyes fluttered open. His vision was blurry and he was light headed. He looked around. He had been sitting up against the wall. Sky was right next to him. Midna flew over with a wet cloth.
"M-Midna, wh-what…?"
"Don't speak too much. Save your strength." Twi nodded. "He took off with Jayk. There was nothing I could do. Sky's dying. He doesn't have much time left." Twi looked at Sky. He looked deathly pale.
"Th-there's got to be something. Do we have any red potion left?"
"We may." Midna snapped her fingers and all the bottles they had been carrying appeared. There was one with red potion. He picked it up.
"Thanks." Twi sat up.
"He's lost way too much blood. I stopped the bleeding and sewed up the wounds like I did for you, but his pulse is fading." Twi looked down and realized both he and Sky were shirtless and had stitches. Twi felt his pulse. It was barely there.
"There's, still time." Twi knew what he had to do… "Midna, what you're about to see means nothing." Twi put the potion in his mouth, shut his eyes, and pressed his lips against Sky's. "This is so gross and embarrassing… Luckily it's only Midna here…" Sky's eyes opened. They widened. After the potion was gone, Twi pulled away. Twi went a deep red when he saw Sky was awake. "Don't look at me like that… I only did that so I could save your life. You weren't able to drink the potion. It was the only thing I could think of…"
"Th-thank you for saving my life…" It was now an awkward silence. Twi stood up.
"We better get going. Jayk's in trouble." Sky nodded and got up. "Midna sewed up our wounds. Speaking of which, where's our clothes?"
"They're drying. There was a lot of blood on them."
"I see." Twi took one step, but didn't take another.
"Erryn, something wrong?"
"I feel strange. Really strange. I can't…" Twi's eyes slid closed and he fell.
"Erryn!" Sky caught him midair. "Erryn, what's wrong?" He sat down and got Twi onto his lap. He looked lifeless and pale. "What happened?"
"I don't know. Link, come on, wake up." She slapped the side of his face a bit. No movement. She pinched his nose. His mouth didn't even part open to let air out even after a few minutes. "There's something definitely wrong." Sky felt for a pulse and found none.
"H-He's… how…? That means… Ghirahim's already performed the ritual on Jayk…It's the connection between the two. Erryn was Jayk's reincarnation and also Jayk's grandchild. Without Jayk…"
"He's dead…?"
"Basically. We need to get back, now. Ghirahim will go after Zelda. If he performs the ritual, Demise will reawaken and will kill everyone. We need to get back to Skyloft."
"Wait, Ghirahim can teleport there easily. We need to find where the ritual is being held. That way we can cut Ghirahim off."
"Good point. Ok. Let's get going." He tried getting Twi on his back. Cringing a little because the wounds really hurt.
"Don't push yourself too hard."
"I'll be fine, I've had worse." Sky started to walk. Midna followed after him for a while, then hid in his shadow. Sky had no idea where he was going, just that he needed to find Kid as soon as possible.
~Zelda~
Zelda was straightening up Sky's room. Fledge walked in.
"Hey, Zel. How are you feeling?"
"I'm doing alright. I'm just a little worried for Link, Jayk, and Erryn."
"I am too. I just hope they're alright."
"I feel like something's really wrong, but I can't place it."
"You have that feeling too?" She nodded.
"I just remember that one day a few weeks ago… That horrible, horrible day…"
~Flashback~
~Zelda's Pov~
The three of us look around, trying to find either Ghirahim or Link. We were finding neither until we came up upon a wooden cell. It was a little alcove in the wall and it had wooden bars over it. I ran up to it and looked inside. Link was laying inside of it, against the wall. He appeared to be unconscious.
"Link." I whisper to him. "Hey, Link. Wake up." I saw him start to open his eyes. "Link…" He turned to me. His eyes widened and he got up. He came over to the cell door.
"Z-Zelda. What are you doing here?"
"We're here to get you out."
"You need to get out of here. Not only does he want the essence, but he needs you to bring his master back completely. He could be here any minute."
"We're going to get you out of here first." I pull out the sword the professor gave me and cut the ropes holding the bars together. I cut the last one and it all falls apart. "Ok, Link. Come on."
"I'm afraid he's going nowhere." I turn around and keep Link behind me. He's protected me so much from Ghirahim. I'll protect him this time.
"You're not getting him."
"Oh, but you're wrong. I already got him. In a few short hours, the essence of my master will grow and take him over. It's already too late, even if you kill him, it'll continue to grow and grow anyway. He's lost to you." My eyes widen. I turn back to look at Link. He looks so scared. I can see it in his eyes. I turn back around.
"Fledge, Karane, you know what to do." Fledge and Karane drew their weapons.
"Oh, so the Sky children wish to fight me? It's no use, but might as well have a little fun before my Master awakens." Fledge and Karane got ready for battle. I turned around to Link. I took his hand and we started running. We were getting quite far from Ghirahim.
"Zelda, what about Fledge and Karane?"
"They'll be fine. Karane is mad at Ghirahim for hurting Pipit and Fledge wants to protect you. You're like an older brother to him. You handled Ghirahim by yourself. I'm sure those two will be fine." We stopped and I turned around. "We don't have much time, but I'm going to try and do what I can. Stand still."
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to try and extract the essence of Demise. Just stand still, and don't talk, I need to focus." I place a hand on his forehead and close my eyes. I'm focusing on the dark energy flowing inside of him. If I do this right, I can remove it without removing a part of his spirit. Just a little longer… I open my eyes and I saw Link's pupils dilate then his eyes slid closed. Most of the dark spirit is gone. After I sense no more of it, I let my hand drop. As soon as I do, Link starts to fall over. I catch him before he reaches the ground. I brush his bangs out of his face. He looks so pale. He's… he's not even breathing. "Link?" I shake him a little. "Link, wake up, please." He won't open his eyes. "Please, don't die on me, Link. Wake up, sleepy head…" I start to cry. He isn't going to wake up, is he? I pull him into a hug… I was so mean to him… No, Link please, don't give up, I need you… I heard sinister laughing from behind me. I turn around and see Ghirahim standing over me.
"You actually believed me. Hahaha, foolish little Goddess. You did the work for me." I set Link down and stand up. I draw my weapon. "You're no match for me either, little girl. Your mind is weak from trying to save his life, but he died anyway. Thanks to you, my master is free. Now, all I need is your essence to complete him." I tried to slash at him, but he caught the sword tip with his fingers. I couldn't pull it free. He pulled it out of my hands and tossed it aside. He then grabbed my arm.
"Let me go!" I tried to break free.
"You're mine now little goddess."
"No!" I saw a sword blade come through Ghirahim's chest. He looked down. He sighed.
"I thought you were dead, sky child."
"It'll take a lot more than that to kill me." That was Fledge's voice… Ghirahim let go of me. Fledge pulled the sword out and Ghirahim spun around. I backed up and turned around to Link. He was still laying on the ground, still and peaceful. I sit him up and have him lay against the wall. I then stand up and find the sword that Ghirahim tossed aside. I run up while he's fighting Fledge and slash at his back. He spins around, trying to hit me with one of the sabers. I duck down, stand back up and slice at him.
"That's for making that tornado pull me down to the surface." He tries to attack but I dodge out of the way. I slash at his arm and cut it. "That's for kidnapping me." I just keep attacking him over and over, no mercy or anything, I was just so angry. "This is for all the crap you did to Link." Fledge eventually grabbed me and held me back. I was still trying to attack him. "I swear I'm gonna kill you!"
"Zelda, stop it!" I stop… That's Link's voice… I turn my head to look behind me… It's Link who has a hold of me… "Don't lose your sanity because of me. I'm not worth it." He let me go and took the sword out of my hand and put me behind him. "Ghirahim's mine to fight." Ghirahim looked so weak. He was breathing heavily.
"I don't have enough strength to fight you right now, Sky child. I'll be back for the spirit maiden, just you wait. I will get her. Master and I will bring a new Era." He put a diamond barrier around us and walked passed us. Where did Fledge go? There was a black mist floating around in the air above us. It collected itself into a little sphere. "Goodbye sky children. We'll see eachother again, real soon." He snapped and disappeared, along with the sphere. The barrier disappeared as well. I turn to Link.
"Link, what happened? I thought you'd…" He shook his head.
"I don't know what happened. I remember you were trying to get rid of the essence and then everything went black. Then, as quickly as it went, everything suddenly came back. I looked around and saw you fighting Ghirahim. You were just lashing out and I knew I had to stop you or may lose your sanity. I knew that's what would have happened if you kept going. You're a pure being."
"Even though he put you through all that, you didn't want him to die?"
"I do want him to die, but I don't want him to die at your hands. If he dies, I'll be the one who kills him instead of you. Don't taint your spirit with murder." He hugged me tight. "I'm glad you're alright…" I hugged him back. Normally he acts childish all the time, rarely is he ever serious like this. I pull away from him and kiss him on the lips. He seems surprised at first, but then kisses me back. Fledge and Karane come around the corner. Karane was injured, but not that bad. We got home. We found out Pipit would be alright and in a few weeks there'd be a new Final Ceremony.
~End Flashback~
~No one's Pov~
"I remember it like it was yesterday."
"Don't beat yourself up about it. I can assure you that you won't lose him again."
"How do you know?"
"Because, I know Link." There was a sound behind Zelda. Fledge grabbed Zelda's wrist and pulled her behind him, drawing his weapon. Ghirahim appeared in the room.
"Hello, sky children. I'll take the spirit maiden now."
"How many times do we have to go through this, diamond freak?"
"Until I can get rid of your pathetic existence."
"Good luck with that. I won't die easily."
"I don't have time for this." He made a diamond wall separate Fledge and Zelda and he appeared behind her. Fledge spun around, and tried to break through the diamond wall, but couldn't. Ghirahim grabbed her and disappeared with her.
"Zelda!"
~Sky~
After Sky got his and Twi's clothes back on, he and Midna set out to find the place that Ghirahim performed the Ritual. As soon as they found it, they saw Kid lying in the middle of the room. Sky set Twi down against the wall and went over to Kid. He wasn't breathing or anything, just like Twi.
"He had performed the ritual." He lifted Kid up and carried him over to Twi. "If we find and destroy Demise, then we can get those two b-" The familiar ringing of Ghirahim appearing rang through the room. He had a hold of Zelda who was now unconscious. "Zelda!"
"Aw, how sweet, you get to see eachother one last time." He set Kid down next to Twi and drew his weapon. A dark figure walked inside the room from the Goddess Crest door.
"Demise…" Midna came out of Sky's shadow.
"Wait, that's Demise?"
"Yes. The King of the Demon world."
"And soon to be the Kind of everything in existence! After the golden haired girl is sacrificed."
"And you really think I'll let you get away with that? I'm not going to sit back and watch."
"*sigh* you really are a foolish Sky Child, aren't you? You turn your back on your friends." Ghirahim snapped his fingers.
"What did you just do?"
"Turn around." Sky turned his head and saw Twi was gone. He turned back around.
"Where is he?"
"I'll tell you, but first you need to sit back and stay away while I perform the ritual. If you don't, I'll kill the little brat laying in the middle of the room, then they'd both die for good. Either way, darkness will rule over this land you call the surface."
"I don't think so. This Link isn't alone. He has me." Midna said.
"Ha, and what can a little imp like you do to help this little runt." Midna smirked.
"I'm glad you asked." Her ponytail formed into a giant hand and quickly scooped up Kid then pulled him over to them. "That's not all I can do, but I'm limited right now. Just you wait and see." Midna disappeared with Kid.
"Now, it's only us, Ghirahim. Put Zelda down and let's fight. If I win, you let me and Zelda go free and I kill you both. If you win, you can kill me and use Zelda to bring Demise to his former glory."
"You're putting a lot on the line, child. Your future and that of your descendants. Alright, but how do you know I'll keep what I agree to?"
"You're a proud demon, I highly doubt you'd want to soil your pride and honor with not upholding a promise."
"Heh, bright child. Bright like a diamond. We shall fight to the death. Winner takes the spoils." Ghirahim set Zelda down and turned around to the Sky Child who already had the Master Sword ready. Ghirahim summoned his twin sabers and the fight began.
~Midna~
Midna teleported out of the room with Kid in her magical hand made of her hair. She set him down and began checking to see if he had any wounds. None that looked really all that bad except for the wound on his stomach he received awhile ago. Midna made all the bottles appear that she and Twi collected, but there were none with the elixir she looked for.
Then she remembered that Twi used it to save Sky. She picked Kid back up. She had to find Twi. That's all she could do now. She carried Kid on her back because he was small and light enough. She floated around, looking everywhere for Twi. Then she got to the Earth Temple. There was one thing she thought of, but she didn't want Kid to get into any danger. She sent him to the Pocket dimension she usually keeps all of Twi's stuff in. She knew he'd be safe there. She flew inside the temple and looked around the whole place until she reached the last room. In that room, she saw Twi, chained up around his chest and left dangling from the ceiling.
"Link!" She flew up to him and put her hands on his cheeks. He looked to be alright, but still lifeless. She used her energy to conjure a ball of slicers as she did before to free him from Hyrule Castle's prison. She used her hair as a hand again to catch him and set him down safely. She brought Kid back out and had him lay next to him. "Now there's just one thing I want to check." She pulled out the Twilight Stone and placed it on Kid's forehead. He started to transform, golden fur started to grow on his arms and legs until he was fully covered in it, a snout grew where his mouth and nose were and a tail grew from his rear. He was the gold wolf she had seen in Hyrule, the one who would teach her Link how to fight. "How is this possible…?" She removed the stone from him and he turned back into a human.
"Then this means, this young boy is the Hero's Shade…"
~Sky~
Sky just barely dodged another attack from Ghirahim. He was cut up pretty bad, but so was Ghirahim, though not all of Sky's strength had returned and he was losing his ability to fight. He blocked another attack from Ghirahim.
"Are you sure you won't regret the deal you made Sky child?"
"I won't lose…"
"You're sure? You're getting pretty shaky."
"I may not be as strong as the last times we've fought, but that won't matter. It's just enough strength to beat you." He pushed Ghirahim back. "I won't let you win…" Sky took a step forward, but fell over. He didn't have the strength to get back up. Ghirahim started to chuckle.
"I knew you didn't have the strength, Sky Child." He knelt next to him and grabbed Sky's hair and pulled him up a bit. "Sadly for you, everyone you love will die. And I'll make you watch every minute of it until they're all gone, then I suppose I'll kill you then." Ghirahim felt a blade go through his chest. He looked down and saw the Master Sword going through him. Sky smirked. "Th-that was a dirty trick…"
"There's no such thing as a dirty trick in a sword fight…" Sky pulled away from him and got up. "I win."
"Damn child…" He pulled the Master Sword out of Ghirahim's chest and then kicked him over. He started charging at Demise and stabbed him right where his heart would be. He disappeared in dust.
"Lucky for me he didn't have Zelda's power too." Sky walked over to Zelda and tapped her cheek a few times. "Zelda." She slowly started to open her eyes. "Hey." Her eyes widened and she hugged Sky tightly.
"Link… I was so worried…"
"I know. We won. Everything will be ok now." She pulled away from him.
"Where is Jayk and Erryn?" Sky paused for a minute.
"Um… I don't really know…"
"Oh great… Come on, we have to find them." Zelda got up and so did Sky. They turned around and started for the door.
"Wait, where'd Ghirahim go?" Zelda's eyes widened.
"We have to hurry." Zelda started running and so did Sky.
"Where we even going?"
"I don't know, but we have to find them."
~Midna~
Midna was sitting next to the two Links when she heard mumbling. She looked over to them and she saw Twi start to wake up. He opened his eyes.
"Link." He looked over to Midna.
"Mid-na…? What's…?"
"You died for probably about two hours or more. It was because Jayk was sacrificed."
"What?!" Twi sat up. "Is he ok?"
"He isn't awake yet, but he looks to be alright." Twi saw Kid lying on the ground behind Midna. He moved closer to him. As soon as he did, Kid's eyes started to open.
"Hey, Jayk. How you feeling?"
"Mmfine." Twi smiled.
"Let's get out of here, ok?" He picked him up and started to walk out. Midna followed close. They started to leave the Earth temple. After making it out into the light they saw Sky and Zelda running over to them. "Hey." Sky didn't stop running. He hugged both Twi and Kid tightly.
"I was so worried. I'm glad you're both alright." Sky said. After a few moments of silence, Sky pulled away. Twi set Kid down.
"So, what happens now? What do we do?" Kid asked.
"We'll send you two home." Zelda said.
"What?! Now?" Twi asked.
"You two have seen too much of the past. It's best if you return home as soon as possible. Don't worry though. I know all three of you will meet in another life, be like the siblings you are now."
"How do you know?" Kid asked.
"There are things in the realm of the gods that none of you know about. I prefer it remains that way. Just know you'll all see eachother again."
"You're right. Time travel is something no one should mess with. The sooner we go home, the better." Kid said.
"Right. I have to say though, I'm going to miss you guys." Twi said.
"We'll miss you too, Erryn. It won't be forever though." Kid said. Twi nodded.
"Link, take care of yourself, alright?"
"Of course. Otherwise you won't live. I'll never forget you guys. You two take care as well." They both nodded. Zelda knelt down in front of Kid and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry, Link." She put a hand to his forehead. "When you return, everything will be as it was before, but you'll still have the memories." Kid closed his eyes and he began to glow. There was a bright glow and then he was gone. Twi felt close to tears. Sky wrapped an arm around him.
"It'll be ok, like Zelda said, you'll see him again. And me." He ruffled Twi's hair. Twi smiled. Midna grabbed onto Twi's arm. Zelda put a hand on Twi's forehead.
"Hopefully this sends you back to the right time."
"Wait, what?" Before he could move away, both he and Midna were gone in a flash. They opened their eyes and they were in the middle of Hyrule field, Epona was right next to them. "Oh that was weird."
"Talk about crazy. She could have at least tested it herself to see if we'd make it to our time."
"Well, we're back. Everything's alright."
That is the final chapter of Legend of Three. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. PM if you so wish. I could tell of how the three Links meet eachother again one day, but that's a different story.
See ya,
-Twi
