I woke up the next morning and wandered into the living room. There on the couch sat Arizona Robbins. She was playing with Seth and talking to Addison about a program she was a part of in Africa. I smiled and sat down next to Arizona and Seth. Seth immediately reached out to me and I gladly took him from Arizona.
"How did you sleep Callie?" Addison asked.
"Good, I have missed having my own bed. Sorry about the Chinese thing. We can do that tonight." I suggested. Addison smiled.
"Maybe tomorrow night." Addison said.
"Why not tonight?" I asked.
"Because I was going to see if you would like to go to dinner with me." Arizona said cutting in. I smiled and nodded.
"I would love too." I told her happily. Arizona smiled.
"Awesome." She grinned. "Because I would love to get to know you better. Before we even think about an "us" after the divorce is finalized. Because I was thinking about it the other night and I feel like we've been kind of doing this in fast forward and I want to do this right. So we need to hit the brakes and just get to know each other first. Not to mention the fact that you just spent two years married to a guy and this is your first experience with a woman." Arizona said. I nodded.
"You make a really good point and it sounds like a great idea. We should just relax and get to know each other right now." I agreed. Arizona smiled.
"Awesome. So I'll pick you up at seven since you aren't allowed to drive yet." Arizona said and stood up to leave. I smiled.
"That sounds like a good idea. See you then." I said. Arizona smiled and nodded curtly.
"I'll walk you to the door." Addison said and stood up from the recliner she had been sitting in. The two walked out of the living room together. I smiled and turned to look at Seth. He was smiling and showing his few teeth.
"Do you like Arizona?" I asked. Seth smiled bigger and clapped excitedly. "I will take that as a yes." I said happily and tickled his stomach. Seth shrieked with laughter. "I love you baby boy. You know that don't you?" I asked. Seth grinned wider and giggled happily. I smiled and hugged him close. The worst part about my cancer was the possibility of leaving Seth to grow up without his mother. The doctors were pretty sure that they had gotten it all before it could spread but I was still scared stiff. I really didn't want to leave him here with only Mark as a parental figure. Especially when Mark had cheated on me. I didn't want Seth to be like that, sleeping with any girl he could. Seth reached his hand up and grabbed hold of a piece of my hair. I smiled at him and wiped a smudge of dirt off his chubby cheeks. Addison came back into the living room and sat down next to me on the couch.
"How are you really feeling Cal?" Addison asked.
"Actually really good Adds. Just scared. But not sick. Just scared." I told her. Addison nodded. She smiled.
"Well that's really good. You're my best friend and I hated seeing you sick." Addison said smiling.
"How about we watch some classic Disney movies with Seth and just hang out until Arizona comes to get me?" I suggested. Addison smiled.
"That sounds like a lot of fun." She agreed and got up from the couch to pick out the first Disney movie. The doorbell rang and I sat Seth down on the couch before I stood up and went to answer the door. Miranda Bailey was standing in the doorway. She smiled and wrapped me in a hug. I froze, that was so un-Bailey like.
"Bailey are you okay?" I asked when she pulled away.
"Of course!" Bailey said brushing a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Am I okay?" I asked instantly thinking they had found something in my most recent post-operative scans.
"I would hope so. Unless you aren't feeling well?" Bailey asked.
"No I'm feeling great. It's just not like you to give hugs." I laughed. Bailey rolled her eyes.
"I just thought I would keep you company because I have the day off." Bailey said and turned to leave.
"Alright come on in Bailey. But you'll have to hang out with Addison and Seth too." I said letting her in. Miranda rolled her eyes.
"Well I figured as much. I haven't talked to Addison in forever it'll be nice to catch up." Bailey said walking into the living room. I laughed and closed the front door behind her.
"Miranda! I thought that was you." Addison said wrapping Bailey in a hug. Bailey smiled and hugged back. Seth whined and reached for Bailey from his spot on the couch. Bailey smiled and picked up Seth.
"Hey little man! How you doing?" Bailey asked. Seth leaned his head against Bailey and closed his eyes.
"He's tired." I told her. Bailey nodded and readjusted Seth's position slightly.
"I'll go lay him down for you." Bailey told me. I nodded my thanks and plopped down on the couch. I wasn't allowed to carry Seth for another week to make sure I wouldn't work myself into a rupture and it was killing me. We watched Disney movies back to back and just had girl time the whole day until it was time to get ready for Arizona to pick me up. At seven I was sitting on my couch playing with Seth while Tangled played in the background. Addison and Bailey were in the kitchen making dinner for themselves. They had agreed to babysit Seth while I was out. I never realized how close Miranda Bailey and Addison Montgomery were when Addison lived in Seattle before. The doorbell rang and I felt my heart stop. We were just getting to know each other better today but I still had bad butterflies. Addison came and took Seth from me so I wouldn't pick him up. I stood up slowly and took a deep breath before walking boldly over to the door and opening it. Arizona stood in the hallway. Her beautiful blonde hair was curled and laying softly on her shoulders and her gorgeous blue eyes stood out and captivated anyone who made eye contact with her.
"Hi." I stuttered. Arizona smiled.
"Hi." She said her dimples popping out.
