Hello followers, sorry I haven't updated in a while. But I am not dead well figuratively….. Just trying to catch up with some college work and it has been killing me. But only a couple more weeks then I'm free (for two months). I love college though I think I go to the most awesome place. Now I hope you like this chapter….

Chapter 14

Meet the Family

"Wait, what did you call that lion"? The boy asked me.

"Don't shoot he's my dad" I shouted out while putting myself in front of him.

"What, how?" He said looking confused looking between me and my dad.

"Look why don't we put that down and I can explain everything" I said.

"ok" he said placing the gun down.

I took a deep breath and began to tell him my story once I got thru he had the eyes the size of the moon. "are you ok" I asked worried he was going into shock.

"I'm fine" he said taking a deep breath while looking over to my dad and grandpa. They looked at him each one daring to make the next move, this was getting pretty intense.

"So what's your name?" he asked.

"Katie", "What's yours?"

"Jeff", he said putting his hand out. I took his hand and shook it smiling at him I had to admit he was kind of cute. He had a dark tan that was probably acquired from out here on the Serengeti and he had these dark brown eyes that almost matched his dark brown hair.

"So these are your family?" he said gesturing over to my dad and grandfather.

"Well except me" said Akiri

"Whoa!" screamed Jeff jumping up from the log he was sitting on. "That lion just talked" he said pointing to Akiri.

"you can hear them too." I said excitedly. I was so glad that I had someone like me who could understand my family.

"Good, now that you can understand us we can ask you a couple questions.", Said my dad standing up and coming near him. I felt so bad for him he looked so scared with my dad so close to him that he could see his teeth. "First off why are you here"? he asked.

"I work for the zoos' in New York and I was sent here as part of my research" he said with his hands up like my dad was holding a gun to his head.

"I'm from New York" I squealed glad to finally have someone from the same type of civilization as me.

"Really" he asked me looking as if he didn't believe me.

"Yeah, I lived in the city when I was little" I said twirling a strand of my hair, kind of a nervous habit I had.

"How did you end up here" he asked waving his arms around. I really did not want to answer that or even think of that day that led me here so many bad memories. I looked down at the ground trying to hide the tears that were coming, luckily dad seemed to sense it and came over to nuzzle my arm.

"Are you ok" he asked looking confused.

"Umm… yeah" I said wiping my face "I just don't like to talk about it."

"Why don't you move your camp closer to our home, young man" said my grandfather. 'wow, that's a way to cheer me up gramps' I thought.

"What!" we heard both my father and Akiri say behind us. Now don't get me wrong I expected that from my father but, honestly, Akiri what is wrong with him these days.

"Sure that sounds great" Jeff said getting up to get everything packed, I got up and followed him to help.

Akiri P.O.V

I really did not like this new guy and it was not because I was jealous, it was because he looked like he was up to no good. Just when I thought Simba and Kovu could end this madness what does Simba do, he invites him home. Really I did not want him to be around Katie, what if he convinces her to go home with him. I think Kovu was thinking the same thing as he was watching this guy with closely, No one comes in-between him and his daughter.

"I don't like this guy" I said to Kovu and Simba as he sat there watching both of them packing his stuff.

"Ok, were ready" Katie said holding a bag of stuff.

"Lead the way, honey" said Simba.

She walked ahead with him in front of us, they started talking and laughing. I am not going to lie this was making me jealous, she was my best friend, she had only met this guy. That really should be me up there and him back here listening to the old lions discuss borders. I was so happy to finally reach Pride Rock just so I could get away from the both of them, seriously one more minute and I would have bash my head in with a rock. Jeff was making up his little tent shelter with help from Katie when the other pride members were coming down watching this new stranger with their princess. I saw Nala and Kiara coming down and I knew they would be the stop to this madness. But, once again I was wrong again, surprise, as they seemed delighted to meet him. Well maybe I can get her away from him I though.

"Hey Katie lets go to the swimming hole" I said.

"Maybe later, I'm going to help Jeff get his tent set up" she said not even bothering to look at me.

Katie's P.O.V

I was really having a good time with Jeff it felt like we had a connection. Once we had his tent set up it was close to sun set and my family was already eating dinner. I decided that I would eat with Jeff so he wouldn't have to be alone. He heated up so raviolis from a can and I got some fruit to go along with it. He kept trying to get me to reveal my story but I did not want to talk about it and finally he gave up. We were having a great time talking and telling jokes when dad had to come ruin it.

"Young lady do you know how late it is" he said.

"I don't know" I said innocently shrugging my shoulders.

"It is time for bed" he said with a very annoyed tone that warned me not to push any more buttons.

"Fine" I sighed out loud, "goodnight, Jeff "I said giving him a hug.

"Katie" my father shouted from the steps of Pride Rock.

We both said our goodbyes and I followed my dad up the steps and into the cave. I looked at my dad with an annoyed glare "did you really have to embarrass me like that". "Goodnight, Katie" he said from his spot next to mom. I just huffed out all of my feelings and lay down in my sleeping bag. The big question on my mind was, what are we going to do tomorrow? I fell asleep with a smile on my face then.

I hope you like the chapter I tried to put a little teenage drama in there to make it more interesting for y'all. Well if any of y'all have a question or anything please leave it in the reviews… so as always enjoy and review.
