Alice had her charms textbook propped open on her lap as she practised the twenty or so spells that she had to learn for this week. Despite her focus though, Alice did look up when the portrait door swung open. To her surprise she saw Jane enter the common room...at least forty five minutes later than she should have after her quidditch practice. "They only last two hours," Alice thought. However what was even more strange was how starry eyed Jane looked and the way she swayed into the room with a huge smile plastered across her face.
"Jane," Alice called from the sofa.
Jane just moved to sit beside her cousin. "Helloo," she sang.
Alice grinned. "Why are you smiling so much?"
Jane suddenly looked confused. " I'm not," she said defensively.
"Yes you are," Alice moved closer to her cousin who bit her lip and smiled sheepishly.
"What happened?" Alice demanded.
Jane looked fit to explode as she held her hands to her face. "We kissed," she whispered through her fingers.
"No way!" Alice shrieked as she furiously hugged her cousin. "How?!When?!"
"Well it turns out that being the last one to get changed does have its up side," Jane began and she dreamily recollected.

Earlier that day
For Jane her first quidditch practice had been a tough yet a satisfying one. She had been training for hours and although her muscles were burning and screaming out in agony, she was happy. I have already jelled with me team!
With a triumphant sigh, Jane decided to take a well deserved shower in the changing rooms, instead of traipsing all the way back into school for one. The power shower was a blessed relief for her aching muscles and she could have stayed under the hot stream of water all day. Yet she came to notice that she had stayed for too long as the skin at her fingertips had wrinkled. I defiantly don't want to look like an old prune. With that thought in mind Jane stepped out of the cubicle and performed a quick drying spell before tying up her hair. Jane was quick to slip into her underwear and throw on her school clothes and robes.
As soon as Jane opened the door she was greeted by a light yet chilly breeze "Ooo it's colder than i expected," Jane muttered to herself as she stepped outside and hugged her cloak a little tighter to her body. The heat of adrenaline and training had left her.
Jane skirted around the Quidditch pitch then and her initial thought as she did so was 'How long have i been in the shower for as the Ravenclaw team are already starting their Quidditch practice.' Jane's second thought was more urgent and overwhelming. 'This means that William is somewhere here. I have to get off this pitch as quickly as possible without embarrassing myself!'
Yet... Jane could not help but want to steal quick glances. Her heart rate picked up as she gave into temptation and looked up. She spotted William instantly. He was flying around at a crazy speed, weaving through the rest of his team mates and dodging bludgers at the same time. Jane found herself marveling at his strength, command and speed. All too soon Jane realised then that she was blatantly staring so she dropped her gaze and quickened her pace.
Suddenly though Jane heard a number of yells. She spun around to see what the commotion was all about and saw William lying on the grass, his broom a few yards away from him.
"What the hell?!" Jane breathed in utter panic.
Unable to stop herself Jane began moving towards the crowd that had formed around William. Her heart was thundering in her chest.
He was still lying on the floor but to Jane's surprise none of his friends seemed that bothered. With more than a hint of hurt and annoyance she hurriedly pushed her way through them, while wondering what kind of friends they could possibly be not to be concerned.
"William?" Jane asked, her voice saturated with concern as she dropped to her knees. "Are you... okay?"
William groaned as he held his chest and she could feel her heart become gripped with worry. Yet when his eyes fluttered open Jane felt calmed. The wet grass had soaked through her tights and all the Gryffindor could hear was silence.
"I'm alright," he told her as the corners of his mouth began to twitch.
Jane sighed in relief but then she came to notice that she and William were now the only ones on the quidditch pitch. "What the"
He unexpectedly stood up and Jane followed him, her eyes wide and accusing.
"Do you think that's funny?!" Her words were soft but they had an edge to them. "You scared me to death!"
William held up his hands surrendering to her mild anger. "Sorry, I didn't know that you were so concerned about my welfare," he told her which caused Jane's cheeks to burn.
"You have to admit though I am a good actor," he challenged, smiling as he watched Jane fight back her smile.
She folded her arms across her chest. "So what was the point of your little stunt?"
William didn't reply and instead walked right up to her until he was only an inch away from her body, towering over her. Jane found that her arms had fallen to her side and her eyes had grown wide when his hand settled on the small of her back. She swallowed involuntarily as her heart hammered against her ribs. The mental block came next and she could no longer speak which made the Ravenclaw rather proud. Jane lips parted on their own accord and sensing that she wouldn't protest William lowered his lips to hers. She responded shyly at first. Soon enough she became more eager and as such she placed her hands on his shoulders, balancing herself as she stood on tip-toe so she could kiss him more deeply.
William wrapped his arms around Jane's waist, trapping her against his chest. He sighed, contently as they parted but they were soon interrupted.
"Go William!" His team mates cheered as they emerged from their hiding places and Jane's face flushed.
"They were all in on it," he told Jane whilst she waved timidly at the grinning faces that now surrounded them. Jane felt relieved to find that his friends actually wanted her to go out with him.
"Yes we were," Chris confirmed before nudging William, "He hasn't been able to stop thinking about you since that time he saw you in those shorts,"Chris told Jane as he winked at her.
Jane felt like there was a fire raging beneath her skin but William just grinned down at her and nodded in agreement. Everyone laughed as Jane buried her face in William's shoulder, shying away from all the attention.
